Great service. They did an amazing multi point Inspection with great pictures, which were emailed to me. At first I was overwhelmed with all the information and freaked out that I had a lot of work to do but when I went in they broke it all down. Some issues needed to be addressed in the next 6 months others 1 year out. It was nice to learn about my car and see (via pictures) the parts of the car they were talking about. I felt like I was dealing with honest people that take pride in their work. Their place is clean and organized and my car was in and out in just a few hours. Currently looking for a shop closer to home so this was my first time trying Argonaut Garage, at my partners recommendation. I had to have an oil pan replaced because the person who I bought the car from stripped a necessary screw piece because they decided to do it themselves. I knew there was an issue with this prior to coming into the ship because when I had had an oil changed post buying the car I was informed that something was off. Mainly I appreciated not being pressured into doing anything right away and the mechanic showing me on my car where the problem is so I could better understand the severity. All in all good experience and glad my car is fixed!

The service is great so far. Just dropped car off. Now waiting for text letting me know its completed. But wish they couldve addressed the tire pressure icon on my dashboard. Reading low pressure, but the pressure is ok.

I needed to install a suspension lift kit in my Tesla Model 3 to stop it from scraping on our steep SF driveway every time we entered or exited the garage. Argonaut was the only auto shop I could find in the whole SF Bay Area that seemed to have a lot of experience installing after-market parts on Teslas. They were courteous, efficient, and now theres no more scraping issues! My customer service rep, Husein, went out of his way to provide me with regular updates on the shipping status of the lift kit parts (which were delayed over a month). I REALLY appreciated his great communication because no one wants to be left hanging, right? I highly recommend Argonaut Garage for anyone with a Tesla!

I ended up trading a vehicle in that they offered to look at as its oil consumption was raising, transmission seemed to be slipping especially going uphill, and then oil was found on the spark plugs.Im giving a 5 star review for the fact that they were prompt to answer their phone line and offered a reasonable price for a second opinion inspection (the issue was that this would be my third or fourth opinion inspection, and already had a good idea of what was occurring with the vehicle due to experiencing the fail of an even older cars transmission & engine, with very similar symptoms. )They seem very thorough, and I will definitely keep them in mind for repairs on my current upgraded vehicle when I dont feel like taking it to the Toyota dealership. Plus its nice to support a local business.

Argonaut Garage is easily the best auto repair shop I have utilized in over 30 years as a car owner. Everyone is polite, professional gives thorough explanations regarding the status of the car. They are flexible about the services that they will do and there is never any pressure to do or pay more than you are capable of taking care of during a visit. I cannot give a higher recommendation.

This is the only place I will take my cars for service. Jason is like having your own personal mechanic...you know, like back in the olden days. Straight shooter, no B.S., gets the job done quickly and runs an organized shop that isnt corporate! Bring all of your cars, people. And have them put a cage on your catalytic converter, too!

Not confident in work done. caliper bolt was missing from brakes. not sure if brake fluid, trans fluid, and power steering fluids were replaced/flushed properly.

They are very kind and professional. They tend to recommend services that are not strictly necessary, but they also are frank about it when you ask about how to prioritize repairs on the phone. Overall, I’d recommend coming to Argonaut. They are dedicated to making it right if they make a mistake and they are kind and knowledgeable people.

This place was awesome from start to finish. I called and had to reschedule not once but 2 times on a Friday without issue. I came for a pre purchase inspection on a 2018 Honda clarity which took about 3 hours (may not be the normal amount of time, it WAS Friday and they did have to move things around in order to still service me). When the inspection was done I was sent a link of the inspection report WITH PICTURES! how cool is that?! Elaine also went over the report with me and shared recommendations but was never pushy about it or anything at all. I will definitely be back!!

I came here on a whim pick, and was really impressed with the operation. Hands down the best auto shop I have ever been to. The company has a strong online presence, and will give you a link to view your diagnostics listed out by section and service. Detailed service tech notes are paired with photographs, issues, non-issues, and the billing is laid out in a way that shows strong transparency of services tendered online. I had the full works done on my vehicle: Trans, clutch, new brakes, tires, frame, suspension, and full servicing. I will not go anywhere else in the Berkeley/ Oakland area. First time after a sad experience at the Ford dealer. I left Argonaut Garage feeling well served, problems addressed and solved, in good and honest hands. The diagnostics was very well communicated (with photos) and it felt right from the start = trust.

Hussein helped me work with insurance on a claim for a stolen catalytic converter, and gave me great advice; later they discovered that work I’d approved wasn’t necessary, and Elaine let me know before the work was done- saving me $1500. Another shop would have just gone ahead to do the work and let me pay the bill. I’m very appreciative of the honest and professional service I’ve received from all the folks at Argonaut.

Took my BMW 2001 325i e46 touring wagon to replace the driver’s side window regulator and motor which took some searching by Elaine to locate it but now it’s going up and down like smooth silk. I had brakes and alignment done and some other things. Brakes were making noise so i bright it in again and they didnt find a problem but they replaced the brakes again and threw in free rotors. No more grindy noise. Thanks y’all!

Argonaut did an amazing job! They were communicative, thorough and above all honest throughout the process. I was a bad car mom (sorry car) and they didnt use the shame technique to get more service dollars out of me; for that they deserve 50 stars! I am a tow truck driver, was dropping off a vehicle here at the shop. Office staff was friendly and professional. As I pulled forward to give myself space to drop vehicle, a white sequoia speeds around me and cuts me off. It drives into this shop. The office staff came out to see why I was upset. I let them know what happened. They informed me that was one of their mechanics. Driving erratically, unsafe and unprofessional in what is probably a customers vehicle since it was going to garage bay where they fix cars. Not impressed. If I hadnt braked hard driver would have hit my tow truck.

So happy to finally patronize Argonaut—the local auto repair shop with the best logo ever. Even EVs need service eventually, and Argonaut’s work, professional service, and communication skills are fantastic and even eclipse (is that possible?) their awesome logo. Highly recommend coming in for any service (we had a check up, tires replaced and a new 12v battery) and picking up some merch as well. No one “wants” to have repairs on their car, but argonaut makes the visit actually enjoyable and something to embrace rather than fear.

Took my 2013 Mini in for a regular. I had been floating from European specialist to European specialist and was never all that impressed. So I thought, Jason and his team work on my Toyota, why not? They were great. Straightforward, easy to understand, clear recommendations, decided together which things needed doing right away and what could be put off for a little while. There was a little annoying problem with a lamp that they fixed with a lot of tenacity - at no cost - Jason and his team are great. Very satisfied.

Ive taken my car to a few garages in the East Bay area and none of them were as thorough, friendly and efficient at what they do then the wonderful team at Argonaut. They are very informative in showing and even teaching me what issues my car has and how they plan on fixing it. Ive been in for brake pad replacements, air filter replacement and other things that happens to break down in my car. I cannot recommend them enough!

Ive had the same issue for all 6 years Ive had my used car. Over the years, a dozen different mechanics and even the dealership spent 2 weeks trying to diagnose this very dangerous issue. Argonaut were able to diagnose and fix it in a day. In fixing it, they didnt need a handful of expensive parts with long labor that was initially quoted; after all these years, it ended up being a simple, cheap fix. I just needed the right mechanic to figure it out. I will trust these guys with every car I have going forward.

I wrote a review earlier but I don’t think I was logged in so I don’t know if it went through but when I first bought my ls400 and took it to Jason he told me I definitely needed a new air filter of some sort(I can’t remember the exact name of it) and I told him I couldn’t afford it right now and I’d come back in a week or so and when I came to pick my car up he showed me the filter he took out which was filthy and told me he put a new one in free of charge. (It was about a $375 fix and he said he didn’t want me out on the road with the filter I currently had). After that I knew I found a good mechanic and to put it short if you want a honest mechanic who clearly explains what he’s doing to your car and prioritizes the customer over the profit come to Jason at Argonaut. Also all the other people working there are really nice and clearly care about the customer and making you feel comfortable leaving your car with them.

It is difficult to find a great mechanic who is reasonably priced, competent, communicative and timely. Argonaut is all these things and treats their customers with great respect. It would be foolish to work with anyone else.

The reviews online about this shop were extremely positive, and that is why I choose to bring my car here, and the reviews were right on. The staff here are very friendly and informative, they do a really professional state-of-the-art diagnostic eval, with emailed pictures of the good and the bad, and detailed explanations of your options. Theres no pressure, no obfuscation, just straight up honest dealing. Then the repairs are done quickly, they gave me a loaner car for a day, they also provide a shuttle, and the repairs made my car run like new. This is really about the best car repair experience Ive had. And the prices were not unexpected, it was within the ball park of what is reasonable to expect to pay for car repair- some reviews say the prices are more than you might find elsewhere, but I dont think that was the case for me- And frankly, I was willing to pay a little more than I might at a cheap shop, knowing I was going to get trustworthy and good quality service, but in the end I dont think it was more expensive than I might have paid elsewhere, and the quality of the repair is dealership quality, but it feels good giving the $ to a local merchant. Im proud to put their sticker on my car.

I’ve been taking my car to Jason since before there WERE any Argonauts, back when he ran the repair shop in the local Exxon station. I’ve been driving for more than fifty years, and this is the best repair shop relationship I’ve ever experienced. Master mechanics who keep their training up to date, honest to a fault, great communicators, all the things. During COVID, they’ve done an exemplary job of taking it seriously, disinfecting surfaces, adjusting front office procedures, etc., and that’s characteristic of Jason and the team.

Nice, clean place, have a jukebox. The representative I worked with, Hussein, was very personable and professional. I had a coupon for changing the oil and they gave me free windshiled wipers. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because the communication for making the appointment was not very smooth.

I received terrific and prompt service here at a reasonable rate for my Prius, which died out at a very awkward time, right before a holiday weekend. My regular garage in SF was full as were several other Prius garages in the East Bay, so I was pleased to find one with high ratings that was willing to let me bring my car in. I didn’t go with the full set of repairs they offered as I decided to order a refurbished battery, but I can certainly recommend them nonetheless for their professionalism and kindness. Let me start with the important part: I have found an HONEST mechanic! What could be better than that? Anyhow, I brought my 97 Subaru in to get my rear brakes fixed. The problem was much worse than I thought, thus needing more work. Long story short, they ended up being able to fix the problem when they couldve just replaced it, which saved me almost $200.

I love these guys! They are so organized and helpful and make the process of dealing with car trouble so much less painful. Highly recommend.

We brought the used 2005 Toyota Matrix we had just bought to Jason at Argonaut. The experience was very pleasant and informative. Ended up getting a thorough inspection and then selecting what work needed to be done. Jason was very helpful in talking through any questions and options. Never felt pressured. And walked out of there very happy with the improved state of the vehicle. Will be using them as our mechanic for this car.UPDATE: Another plus for Argonaut... after the initial repairs, we realized that something that had shown up on the inspection had not been included in the work order -- a simple oversight given all the things we were looking at and taking care of. Jason at Argonaut was determined to straighten it out ASAP. We brought the car in and they replaced the battery while we waited (not long). This garage has won our business.

We had a sudden starter motor failure. Jason and his team were able to slot us in right away. We had to wait a day for parts, and during that time there was a staffing emergency, but Jason and his team were able to get the car back to us just before a holiday weekend.On another car, the catalytic converter was stolen. My dad was a mechanic, I worked in a mechanics shop in my early 20s trying (and failing) to be handy, and for years I have had a friend be able to do my repairs on the cheap. My car had a few overdue repairs that I was struggling with the crazy quotes from other garages but last week it went from semi in need to dangerous to drive.I had come to Argonaut once before and found them quick, friendly and reasonable. So I called them and they managed to squeeze me in the exact time that was convenient for me. I had been pricing out parts and repairs online and was fearing the worst. By lunch time they had emailed an extremely thorough inspection that included pictures and video. Seeing all the things needed I felt like the repairs were going to outweigh the cost of the car. But not at all. When the estimate came through I was relieved. It was way lower then I had expected (though still plenty for an old car) and when I spoke with Dylan he was kind and concerned for the cost.Every step of this process was the best considering what was needed, down to the thank you email they sent out. It felt like the garage I worked in all those years ago who had a huge following because they were such stand up people.I cant recommend them enough and will tell every friend with a with a set of wheels.Good work, good people, good prices!!!

I am very impressed with Argonaut Garage. Long story short I was afraid I had purchased a lemon and had a few issues with my new van that were intermittent, very hard to diagnose, and potentially made the vehicle unsafe on the road. I was terrified I just lost 10K on a bad decision. Argonaut went the whole nine yards to figure out the issues, test and retest the safety of the vehicle, and they had excellent communication and customer service throughout a considerably lengthy and stressful process. I had a really positive experience - theyre friendly and dont talk down to you like some other mechanics can do. Work done wasnt necessarily cheap but seems high quality, and when it took longer than expected they paid for a hire car which really impressed me. I also didnt feel pressured and Jason took time to explain to me what was critical vs. what could wait. Will be coming back for future maintenance!

Jason and the Argonauts are the best mechanics Ive ever had. Ive been taking my cars to them for 7 years and trust them completely. They started out with a small workshop in the gas station at Kensington on The Arlington and then they grew and now have a bigger workshop on San Pablo.
