The managers, this young guy and his mom are some of the nicest people I have ever met. I used to walk to five and ten every week to visit them and get some goldfish. Sarah (the mom) even knows my name and she is always so thoughtful and generous

Hollingworth5and10 has been closed since spring 2020 — please look at the sign — this place is now Belmont 5 and 10 — different owners — different vibe —

Shelves were pretty empty. Went looking for sowing supplies and only found some threads and needle sets. Drugstores have more selection for sowing supplies. Doesn’t have anywhere close to the selection of craft supplies you’d expect from a place billed as a crafts store.

HORRIBLE customer service. I will not be shopping here again. Clearly all the owner cares about is their own profit.

The owner buys out stock of childrens toys from discount stores in the entire area and resells them in his own for 6-7x the retail price. scalper!!

It is a very nice neighborhood store with always a friendly service at the counter. Great place to go with kids and find little treasures for them. Looking for a last minute birthday gift or a witty card, this is the place to go around Belmont. It has a decent array of craft supplies to fill a boring day with activities, as well.

This is a pretty awesome five and dime in Belmont. Its actually a genuine five and dime with a variety of miscellaneous useful things. They did have a large sewing section which is not always a thing you find in a five and dime.

They have a little bit of everything here, its an old school classic five and dime store. Kids birthday presents, sewing notions, arts and crafts supplies, school supplies, housewares, etc etc. Shop local! This place is great!

This is one of the last 5&10 stores in the area....and they do a very good job of keeping it classic and relevant. I love to browse and usually find items that I didnt go looking for but happy to find.

This is our go-to spot for small gifts for kids and other small household items. They have a good variety of toys that are different than what you would find in a big box store. The books and crafts are also very good.

They do have some pretty nice things but a lot of it is overpriced. I was also in there with my child and had to use the bathroom desperately and they told me to go across the street to the gas station. I dont find it very business-friendly not to let your customers at least use the bathroom as they shots they were have to leave with their kids and come back and forth needless to say I did not go back and finish shopping.

Edit. Owner sold.. I hope most of the below is vaguely true.. CLASSIC MEETS CONTEMPORARY!Hollingworth is one of the last survivors of the Five and dime ‘notions’ stores. Prices are very reasonable on some items & mid-range on others.I know my reviews and I know few get to the end of them! I took photos so you can get the visual gist. My “good lord is she done yet!?” Follows:List of various things I bought & prices:Sterlite dish pan/tub for sink $2.99; 18qt mop bucket with metal handle $3.99; Mini scraper with 5 razor blades $1.99; Glass Turkey/gravy baster with removable RUBBER bulb $4.99 I can’t wait to throw out my chewed up plastic one! Grapefruit spoons, scrub brushes, stainless steel classic cheese grater that has the Correct size for grating cheese for Mac & cheese(I’ve now tried 5 that do not!) $7.99Unique hilarious high quality greeting cards made in USA a splurge at $5.00 each. More traditional ones, but beautiful and glitter, at $3.50 each. I’m so sick of the ugly ones at BJ’s.Wonderful owner pointed me to this wicked low price on LED 4 packs for OMG $1.99.The children’s section is competitive with any quality toy store: Melissa and Doug, Alex brands. I bought a pile of stocking stuffer or party bag sized peg puzzles in cool retro color boxes for $2.99! Heads up Amazon I could hold it, look closely, decide then and there without doubt and without feeding the Amazon beast.Supporting local businesses sounds good but often doesn’t work out for me. But going here I was able to avoid these separate trips: art supply store, sewing store, kitchen store, hardware store, toy store, Halloween shop, souvenir store, gift shop, party wares. And easy aisles, pleasant people, calm.Nearby are gourmet wine and food, ups, restaurants, and boutiques. Enjoy! Background:This is a historic spot for a five and dime. It was called Ben Franklin when I first moved here. Growing up in Cambridge we watched them fade away and I was delighted to find one nearby with parking spots outside (if they get full I believe a new parking garage is coming to Cushing Square but not too far on side streets you can park as Belmont does not have residential parking but does limit it near the businesses. There’s a bus stop right there from Harvard square to Waverly Train station.
