A lovely restaurant right on the Fairhaven Village Green. Dine in or dine outside weather permitting, either or, you are sure to enjoy a wonderful meal with terrific service. We live in Fairhaven so its a short walk from home. A glass of wine and some nibbles on an early afternoon is so very civilized! Sitting outside watching the families with their children play in the park, or maybe a wedding is in progress, possibly a family gathering on the grass, its all very safe, comfortable and SOOOOOOO Fairhaven. We shared the Smoked Salmon Plate and the Cheesy Sriracha Spuds, they were both excellent. The spuds dont look like much when they arrive (see photo) but they taste terrific! Downtown Fairhaven has so much to offer with its other restaurants, small shops showcasing clothing, souvenirs, cooking oils, ice cream, antiques, locally made art / ceramics etc. to breweries and an amazing view, it has everything once could ask for. Shop local.

Food, atmosphere and service are all on point.

The Colophon is one of my favorite lunch/ dinner spots. They house make ALL of their salad dressings, so every dressing is delicious. But I must say their Carrot Miso dressing is unbelievably tasty and unique. They also always have really great vegetarian options!

So happy this place is still around. While the 90’s bookstore cafe vibe is gone, the updated food and cocktails, the outdoor seating on the park is a gem spot.Peanut soup is still great. Great friendly service during sun/covid days.

Reliably good food, good prices, great service, very nice ambiance (quiet and not crammed together too tightly) and when the weather is good you can sit outside too. Its my go-to place in Fairhaven when I want casual but quality dining.

This place is great! My wife and I walked to Fairhaven from Bellingham along the Bay Trail, and had an absolutely wonderful dinner here. The food and drinks were great, and the staff were AMAZING! I cannot say enough good things about our waitress. Great spot for dinner in a quaint area. Highly recommend getting a side of the African Peanut Soup with whatever you order. We will definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

Now the servers, or from what I could see the inside stuff had any masks on. They laughed about it, and honestly they dont seem to care. Theres also no signage.If theyre laughing and making fun of peoples deaths and dying, do you really want them placing their hands on your food or trusting where the food is that theyre serving you came from?

I would give this place 5 stars for the friendly service alone, but I have to also mention that I just had the flakiest, butteriest, chocholatiest croissant. It was so heckin good!!!! Would have posted a pic but the croissant was still warm and I simply didnt have the patience for a photo shoot.

The soups was super good. I got the African one, and it had a great combination of flavors, peanut, tomatoe, something spicy. I got the half the chicken sandwich on a sourdough with smoked Gouda cheese. Great mix. Will recommend it, definitely. The soup was $2 cheaper because I ordered half a sandwich. The decoration of the place remind me of British pub! Nice place to hang out.

Outstanding ambience, service and great Food choices in historical, scenic Fairhaven, Wa.Reasonable prices for what you get.My friend and I both ordered the Greek salad.It arrived quickly in a very friendly manner with delicious hummus and pita.This restaurant was highly recommended by a local.

The food here was really good and the amount was ample. The staff is also very hospitable and pleasant. They have some vegeterian/vegan options which are also tasty. The coffee was good too. Pretty chill environment inside

Zero taste Cali chicken burger with burnt inedible wedges.Honestly I am very disappointed, was hoping for a very tasty meal. Instead all I got was a very very bland chicken breast with okay ingredients, and extremely burnt potato wedges.Worst part, I actually tipped too.....

A sweet little cafe with tons of character and great food!

The food is above average across the board.They have 5 star soups and baked goods.The beer selection rotates so a roll of the dice as to whats on tap. The ambience is Fairhaven history and relaxing charm, worth the stop in itself. If youre a Bellingham native as myself it becomes a regular stop.

Very good vegetarian options. We particularly like the power salad, black bean burger, veggie quiche, baked artichoke dip, and the portabella mushroom sandwich. Colophon has been closed since 11/17 BUT is REOPENING MARCH 14TH! (Edited my review after seeing the reply from Colophon.) We are so eager to enjoy your delicious food again!

Unique setting with equal unique food choices. All of us ordered something different from each other to try. All of us LOVED our individual choices as well as each others tasting. My absolute fave was the Quiche. Best one Ive had in years! The service was spot on as well!

An utterly delightful place where you can get a good taste of what the rest of Bellingham might have to offer you food wise. Cozy, warm service, good food taken from the area, do yourself the pleasure of eating here if you have the time and money for it.

I traveled up the wonderful town of Fairhaven in Bellingham, Washington with friends and we stumbled across this place that was across the ways from an outside public theater. We were welcomed by some amazing and warm hospitality and the ambiance here was very well lit and decorated. We tried a sample of the African Pea soup and it was really amazing and I ordered my first ever chicken pot pie and I was really really delighted. Its slightly on the pricier side with smaller amounts but it is suggested to try things that you normally dont try anywhere else, like the African soup, and I feel in making those kinds of choices, you get more bang for your buck.

If you go to Colophon Cafe in Bellinghams historic Fairhaven neighborhood, go for the atmosphere. Its in a large historic building with outdoor patio seating along a public square that hosts movie nights, a farmers market and other fun community events.The staff are friendly and fast, but the food is nothing to write home about. The menu is large, but Ive been twice now and have yet to be wowed by the food. The chicken pot pie is not very good.Again, if you need a spot for the atmosphere, go here!

Im not sure they still have it by the time you read this review, but if they do then you have to try their red velvet cookie. It is absolutely amazing - as in, it might be THE BEST COOKIE YOU EVER HAVE (it certainly set a new standard for me)! The cakes and other pastries are amazing as well, and be sure to look at the amazing range of vinaigrettes and spices upstairs before you leave.

Colophon offers quality food with a warm, cozy embiance. We love that they have a fairly healthy kids menu that offers sandwiches, bagels, and soup; you can also add fruit, veggies, and cheese on the side. Its much better than the standard kid fare of chicken nuggets or Mac & cheese that most restaurants have available.We prefer going for dinner on weekdays because its not super busy to take our 3 year old, but its also a great lunch spot. They have espresso for those that prefer that over drip coffee. My personal favorite food there is the clam chowder, its delicious, along with all of their soups (there is a calendar online showing their soup of the day offerings!)

The soups are amazing, my favorite being African Peanut soup. Nothing more comforting on a cold and rainy day. The service is always friendly and attentive. With so many good restaurants in Fairhaven, Colophon is at the top for me.

Not particularly memorable 🤷🏼‍♀️ I had salmon quiche. It was fishy. I wasnt overly impressed with the menu but it was fine. A lot of the small businesses in Fairhaven have odd hours and Colophon is most consistently open but Ive never had any interest in going there. Its just fine.

Service was friendly, accommodating, and very helpful. The food was impeccable. The African nut soup was to die for, and my mom loved their sherbet. My cappuccino was possibly the best Ive had in Bellingham. Seating was comfortable. Lighting was not too bright. The view of Village Green was nice too.

I enjoyed eating here. Very good menu and great feel good food. I did not give a five because when I went to the bathroom there was always a line of a few people. When you go to a nice place like this you dont want to have to stand in line to use the washroom. Other then that great place.

The best clam chowder in Whatcom County!

Doesnt look like much from the outside... but its big and airy inside! The food is great and the service is warm! I had a soup and sandwich combo. The sandwich was fresh! The soup was almost a chilli like. I also had the fruit crisp with icecream. Id love to come back here and try some of the other items in the menu!

Ive been here several times over the last few years. I love their French dip sandwich and the peanut butter pie. Ive never seen the place crowded. Its always been pretty quiet. Parking isnt amazing but thats expected in that area.

Stopped for a quick bite and a cocktail. Had the old fashion espresso - damn good. Shared the nachos and was full all day. The Vegan burger was so good were going back.Did I mention the service - excellent 5 stars for service. Fast, friendly, attentive and always checked on us.

Just didnt do it for me.....ordered the meatball marinara sandwich, and although it wasnt disgusting, it didnt get my attention in a positive way either. Service was acceptable, but again, wasnt memorable either. Look at the bright side.....at least my bill seemed really steep for what we got! 😜

Wish it was a cleaner place. Dirty floors, dirty table, dirty glasses. Food was ok. All vegetables and soups were fresh. Smoked salmon was dry, Cali chicken burger was less warm that I would expect, so I am not sure how it was prepared. Staff was great, very friendly and helpful. Overall, a bit of a disappointment

The place was quite cozy and had a lot of options for seating. The menu made the food sound awesome, but when my server didn’t write down my order I knew is was in for a bumpy ride. When they first brought out my order it was completely wrong which I asked if they could remake it. They were very nice and quite quick about remaking it. After they brought out the correct order I chowed down. Decent food although it was quite pricey. I probably would have only finished it if I was really hungry. I ordered the turkey melt bagel with cheddar cheese. It was really overkill because they make it with not only cream cheese but melted cheese on top. For its price I would have expected higher quality turkey, and just one type of cheese. Actual bagel was great though.

I always love the Colophon. The atmosphere and energy are carefree and fun. I had the Caesar salad and split pea soup. Both were very good! I was able to get cantaloupe instead of bread! Lovely place!

Good selection of food, both hearty and nutritional. Tasty and plentiful. Our waitress was excellent and kept our ice tea glasses filled. And be sure and get one of the delicious desserts.

From the door to the decor staff and all it was a great place with great food. The staff are relaxed and friendly yet attentive and professional. I had the soup sampler and then decided to have a bowl of the tomato chicken soup and half of a BBat sandwich super awesome!! I couldnt resist and brought home a berry cobbler and chocolate cake...a perfect combo! Got here and tell them Als mom sent you!

This is my standard place for consistently good meals + good atmosphere (music & decor)+ friendly staff in Fairhaven.The fireplace seating on cold days warms the blood. Patio seating by the public Village Green space surrounded by brick and stone buildings, makes me feel like Im at a cafe in Europe.

Colophon Cafe is a popular spot that has been around forever. They have wonderful Summer outdoor seating looking over The Village Green where you can enjoy homemade sandwiches and soups and delightful appetizers. Inside are plenty of tables for large and small groups, and couches by a fireplace perfect for enjoying happy hour specials or one of their signature desserts.

Always a pleasant experience. Ive had the hummus platter as well as a French Dip sandwich. Both were excellent. Great customer service! Pricing typical for Bellingham (read a little on the high side). Still, quiet, clean and very good food.

The atmosphere is wonderful and an overall happy place to eat and enjoy a meal with friends and family. Always enjoy their soups, they are scrumptious! Sandwiches are never a disappointment either. I love the fact that you can eat outside on a warm afternoon or evening and catch the activity of people moving about Fairhaven....great atmosphere. Plus it’s right next door to Village Books & Paper Dreams, my next stop! Make sure you visit these two places before you leave Fairhaven, you won’t be disappointed!

Service was Excellent. Had smoked salmon and bagel. It was ok. Didnt really like that it was chunks instead of slices. Also had Greek salad. Really liked the dressing. And was happy humus came w it. We will be back.

A wonderful place to grab a bite in Fair Haven. The atmosphere can feel a little dark but the building has a lot of history. Its always fun to eat at the Colophon and afterwards walk through to the attached stores. The Colophon has a healthy variety of food and lots of vegetarian and vegan items! The bagels are some of my absolute favorites as they are fresh everyday. My mom loves their quiches! We hung out at our table for a while enjoying some games that they had and playing trivia. I would highly recommend a visit!

Do NOT recommend the pot pie. Everything was either too salty or cold and the service was terrible. My group went when there were only two other tables being served and yet we waited nearly an hour for our food. Our server was also incredibly rude and short with us. Wouldnt go again, especially with those prices. Not worth it.

Great study spot! Fantastic art, a great staff, and wonderful food makes this place just as good for studying, taking family out to dinner, or for a lunch date! Trendy, but healthy and local.

A favorite place to stop with each visit to Bellingham - for over 20 years, the diner of yesterday has grown up! With the addition of a tasting bar on the upper level where the cafe used to be, the eatery on the lower level edges an open square with a sitting area outside as well as the tastefully appointed decor inside.... and the food is still great!!!!!!

Great atmosphere and variety of sections of books to choose from. Located conveniently in the beautiful Fairhaven Neighborhood. My wife and I are fairly new to Bellingham and Colophon Cafe is for sure among our favorite spots!

The food was very delicious! This is a real gem in Bellingham Do try the carrot cake. Portions were good size for the prices.

Great little local restaurant. My wife and I go for a cup of tea and a quick bite to eat. They rotate guest artists so every time we go in theres new art on the walls.

I went here with a girl once, she was annoying and quite honestly I wish I never wasted a moment by just being in her presence, but one thing I did not regret. This restaurant! It was the one redeeming factor of a day spent with a waste of a human. The food was amazing, I had some sort of salmon spread on a bagel and it kinda just melted away the bad company. Server was great too and pricing was fair, building looked unique and decor was super cool.

Its an institution and a great experience, especially if you get a table outside on a sunny day. The soups are the stars of the menu in my opinion and all of them are good. Everything else is not really worth the price. It can be dirty at times...make sure you go when lots of people are there. The service is just OK. Make sure you pick up their recipe books!

I had the Ceasar Salad with Salmon. It was very good. I had the small with Baggetts. Perfect for a light meal. My server was very nice and the whole team worked well.

This Cafe has quickly become my Friday after work spot. They have an outstanding happy hour menu and its perfectly located to grab an apertief and meander to one of the other many great restaurants in Fairhaven.

Great place, had a strawberry mojito and hummus plate with balsamic vingar from Drizzle. Delicious! We walked from the ferry terminal to grab a bite before boarding.
