Good follow up from Happy Hop. Friendly, knowledgeable brewing staff. Tons of hop choices, but only saw Omega yeast. Enough grain choices for whatever recipe youre cooking up. Also seemed to have a good wine supply selection, but thats not really my thing.

My wife and I want to try our hand at brewing and wine making. Happy Hop is close and has good reviews so we decided to see for ourselves. The staff was welcoming, well informed, and very helpful. Not pushy or condescending which was very cool. The customers were also pleasant. The store has a “country store meets free spirit” feel. Lots of arts and crafts stuff but the main attraction, of course, is the variety of equipment, ingredients, and books they have for making everything from simple wine to rum and vodka. We were very impressed and had a great time. We bought what we wanted and will use this spot as our local go-to source. We could say so much more but it’s best to stop by and see for yourself like we did.

Wow. This place has it all. I was really happy to find this store because I suddenly needed a picnic tap and some spare parts. They had everything I needed and the owner was super helpful. I ended up getting a great used keg from them. Awesome price for a corny keg. If youre in the area check em out. Also, I think they had every hop and yeast Ive ever heard of including kveik.

Wide selection of beer and wine brewing supplies, to include fresh ingredients, cooking utensils, bottles, caps, yeast, additives and instruction books. An incredible assortment of must-have items to accompany the brewing experience! 🍺🥂🍾🍷 The manager, staff, and employees really know their craft and can assist you in your projects throughout the process. Thanks for a wonderful store!

I really wanted to have a local homebrew shop near me. This is the closest. Unfortunately the hours are just awful. Prices are a bit higher than online suppliers, which I didnt really mind. But the last straw was when I needed a few ounces of priming sugar. They couldnt take my debit for less than five bucks. So I left and ordered it online with no shipping costs. Sad to see how unnecessary shops like these have become. That was the last time I will go there.

Chris, Lori, and the rest of the crew are a wonderful bunch who are truly dedicated to their craft and love of brewing and gourmet food. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and will help you any way they can...in fact, Chris (the owner) has helped me through several brewing issues. The shop stocks a variety of things -- theres something on the shelves for almost anyone!

I’ve recently returned to homebrewing, and taking a cue from The Experimental Brewing podcast I’m trying to all but exclusively buy from my LHBS.So far, beyond the incidentals needed for some kits I bought online before that decision, I’ve gone through Jeremy for two special orders thus far. The first was an Anvil 4 gallon stainless bucket fermenter and the second being a basic keg setup. On price checks, everything has come in on target when compared to buying online. Yes, it might take a couple extra days to get to me, but knowing I have a shop with grains and hops in stock within 50 miles from home makes supporting this business an obvious self serving decision. But all the support your LHBS preaching aside, service and prices have been very good and I’m looking forward to seeing how many trips I’ll make in 2020.

I am happy I hopped in! Wine kits, essential oils, and beer supplies...its absolute Nirvana! Chris is very knowledgeable and was kind enough to try my tomato hooch. You may bump into a fellow hobbyist and exchange war stories and recipes.Did I mention that the owner is a real-estate mogul with his heart in beer, wine, and kambucha...what a wealth of knowledge. He and his BBQ neighbor can reveal the mysteries of fermenting anything from beer to flaming pepper sauce!

Shopped this place under the previous ownership and loved it. When the new people bought the place (Christian, I think his name is), there was ZERO dropoff in service. Not only do they have everything youll ever need, but they also will take all the time you need to answer questions about brewing or just shoot the breeze about any of their wonderful products. Heck, I had a friend at work who had a batch of brew that was messed up, I gave him this places number and they talked him through it over the phone. They even do demonstrations and invite people down to watch, help, ask questions...If you want wonderful, friendly, caring service, this is the place. They have EVERYTHING youd need for brewing beer, making wine, soda and a whole boatload of other foodstuffs.Great for finding one-of-a-kind gifts for people, as well.

Ive been homebrewing for several years now and have gone to many Homebrew shops. This one has everything the others do, and more. Ive seen the owner, Chris, running the register on several of my visits. Ive seen Homebrew shops where you have to get your own grain off the shelf and weigh it, but here they weigh, mill, and bag it all for you, every time without exception. Theyll even help carry it out to your car.I love their grain-sitter program because they let you buy a full 55lb bag of grain at bulk price, and you just take what you need as you need, so you always pick it up freshly milled without the hassle of storing yourself. My last visit was for a blood orange pale ale- I had already bought canned blood orange puree off Amazon Prime, only to see the EXACT same project for cheaper in the store (facepalm). Then when I saw that they were out of the hops I needed for the recipe, but luckily they had gotten a large delivery that day, and the guy dug through box after box to find the hops I needed. Ive been told several times to speak up if they dont have what Im looking for, because they will put in a special order. They also have gatherings for local homebrewers to get together, group brews for national Big Brew day etc. The store is always clean and organized, staff is friendly, and prices are good. I recently moved over to St. Charles, MO and Im just hoping that the local shops there can compare to the quality experience Ive had at Happy Hop for the last couple years.

I have shopped the Edwardsville location a few times since it has opened, and I really like the store. I live in Godfrey, and it is very nice to have a homebrew shop close to home. I have always found the ingredients on my list in stock. The only equipment I wanted to purchase was out of stock, a 6 gallon plastic carboy. I will probably plan to continue to purchase equipment online, but purchase ingredients at this store. Please, please, please consider adjusting your hours of operation (at least for the Edwardsville location) to be open all weekend and maybe a couple evenings through the week. I cant imagine that your current hours really suit the typical home brewers needs..?

Thank you Happy Hop! Hi, I homebrew. Happy Hop always has what I need for brewday. Its awesome doing buisness and talking beer with these people every time. The staff is great...knowledgeable and attentitive. They throw events throughout the year to introduce new Brewers as well as offer a place for experienced Brewers to share and improve their craft. They are impressively stocked with ingredients and gear. Join the mailing list and get alerts on sales! I am proud to call this place my Local Hombrew Shop! Oh, and the front off the shop has a ton of foodie magic. Sauces, spices and hard to get stuff for the kitchen. Not just for beer. Check em out!
