Belfast Maine is one of my favorite destinations in Maine. Its a beautiful town by the sea with many excellent restaurants, Bell the Cat being one of them. Its my go to spot for breakfast and lunch. Not only can you eat indoors now, but you can also utilize the drive up window or pick up your food from the pick up spots outside. It hosts a beautiful outdoor seating area, with herbs galore growing about the tables. Whats better than the smell of fresh basil and mint! And....you can even have a mimosa or other alcoholic drink, what a plus for a Sunday brunch, or any other day for that matter! My favorite breakfast item so far is the Eggs Benedict. Eggs perfectly poached, muffin lightly toasted and delicious home fries. Who could ask for more. The menu is extensive and one would be hard pressed not to find anything to eat. Large vegetarian, kids, fresh baked goods and coffee choices. The staff was welcoming, and despite the busyness of the restaurant on this Sunday, food was delivered promptly. I will continue visiting Bell the Cat on every visit, and hope to try everything on the menu!!!
Food was pretty good. The Thanksgiving wrap had icy cold stuffing and no cranberry sauce. It has huge potential and I hope that was an isolated incident. It’s my fault for not sending it back but I ate it. The parm chicken sandwich was very good. Really juicy chicken. Coffee was goodySmall portions and big prices. $64 for 2 adults to have lunch with ice tea/soda. Really like the food overall and the friendly staff. We will try again and see how it goes but will be a treat and not a weekly stop due to prices vs portions.
Looked forward to getting lunch while vacationing and ordered the chicken cutlet sandwich and the pastrami sandwich. The chicken was inedible, we gave it to the dog. It was over cooked, the breading was burnt and the chicken was incredibly dry. Had high hopes for the pastrami but that too was dry and the edges well done but we were able to swallow it because the mustard added moisture. So disappointed ☹️
Food was good. Ice tea was bitter undrinkable. I was told the coffee was really good. I recommend the pastrami. Avoid the ice tea. Thanks fir the response. I never use sugar in my tea. The tea was honestly worse than Duncan Donuts Ice tea which is often over brewed and bitter as well. I have had hot tea from Bell the Cat in the past and it was very good. But I asked for water after sipping the tea and drank that since the tea was not drinkable and sugar would not have helped.
Last minute decision to stop at this cute little restaurant on our way to Bar Harbor! The breakfast burrito was amazing, along with biscuits and gravy! The cappuccino was delicious as well!
Food here is always good. My only complaint is that no matter how many times I request NO Side Dill Pickle, I get a Dill Pickle. While I appreciate the freebie, it gets thrown out. I dont like wasting food even if it is just a pickle. Dont let this little gripe deter you from eating here. You will love the food.
This place has fantastic food! I love the fish chowder and Thanksgiving sandwich. My friend had the Reuben, which was massive and tasty. The new location is not as cozy and homey as the old one, but you will not go wrong with the food.
We went for lunch today. Our first time here as were from away! We ordered the Orchard Chicken Salad, the Italian on ciabatta bread and the Chipotle Sweet Potato soup. Everything was delicious! The staff are wonderful! Everyone was extremely friendly and the service was excellent! The whole place is exceptionally clean. Were going back again before we leave this area.
Eat here. If youre unhappy with something its not this places fault. Great staff and the kitchen works miracles every day. Highly recommend.
Awesome place! Cute little coffee shop with an awesome selection of lunch sandwiches and soups and lots of other things! So cute too!!
Had a great experience grabbing take out breakfast while visiting here. The woman who took our order was so friendly and helpful when ordering. The group got coffees and breakfast sandwiches. I enjoyed a bagel with honey walnut cream cheese which was absolutely delicious!!
This is my favorite place to get some of the freshest food around. Few other places in the area take this much pride in fresh ingredients to produce quality food as Bell The Cat. Which is a really cool idiom and Aesops Fable btw(: Sometimes I like to come back from here with extra food for later because its so good!
If you havent been, you should! Always fresh, and delicious! Best Soup and Sandwich around! Bravo!
This was the best breakfast we had at any resturants. The chef does an amazing job. Cooked our food to perfection. The friendly and great atmosphere was great also. Thank you to the friendly staff and great chef.
Good sandwiches, soups and salads made with local ingredients at a fair price.
ENORMOUS menu. Friendly, helpful staff, clean bathrooms.... such a treat to eat here!
Nice place to eat friendly staff. Good food
Just picked up my 1/2 chicken pesto panini and OMG…it is pure perfection. The chicken is cooked perfectly, pesto is just spicy enough, and the bread is crispy and delicious! I ordered online and picked it up at the drive through, which was lightning fast. I’m back in town tomorrow, so I’ll be trying another sandwich from here, definitely!
Very disorganized today. Blt was not toasted, coffee was cold. Had to ask for a hot coffee. Wait was over 35 minutes. No one wanted to take our order. Muffin was good but did not get butter not was it heated. We made a special trip to go to Bell the Cat today. Will not be going back for sometime . Very disappointed.
Over priced. Coffee tasted more like chocolate milk than coffee. For the price I should definitely taste coffee. Service took a bit of time. They should have indoor seating by now.
I love Bell the Cat...the food is great and the people who work there are exceptionally cheerful, kind, helpful and hard-working. So gratifying to support this local business! Highly recommended!
Soooo delicious and fresh! I had the turkey melt, my husband the chicken Caesar wrap. Friendly staff. Cant wait to try other sandwiches and salads.
Good food, great waitress. Coffee was good and strong.
Where to begin? Decent place, but not really. I guess it depends on who you ask. The staff was nice, but the nice ended there. Food was OK, but NOT worth the price. Its a sandwich shop and 3 banana/Nutella sandwiches (smaller than homemade sandwiches on normal bread) or kids and 3 HALF sandwiches (again - TINY, half of what the kids got) with 6 tiny bags of chips was $63. Then my children didnt like the smoothies so I ordered them new drinks. Unlike every single restaurant weve EVER been in, they still charged me for their gross smoothie AND the new drinks - though they discounted the awful smoothie 25% after I specifically asked them to remove it. Its their right to still charge us, but it shocked us. Every place weve ever been, though its rare, had removed the item. My husband and I figure they just dont care if you never come back and were not, so its fine with us. The ingredients were OK, but Legacy Sandwich Shop in Bangor ruined us and we know what real quality is. Bell the Cat isnt it. Its subpar quality and ridiculously expensive. Subway is better quality and pricing. Legacy is AMAZING and must try when in Bangor. I wouldnt come here unless youre thinking hmm I want to pay $12 for a sandwich smaller than a hot pocket, a small soda, and a newborns fist of chips. Just go to Subway up the road. Its 1/3 the price, 3x the amount, and higher quality.
I thought the restaurant was purr fect like a real kitty cat.
Would of gotten 4 stars if I wasnt screamed at for not parking in the pickup spot 1 space away. Sandwich was good. I had the Hawaiian, over priced for the amount of food you receive, I could even understand if it was premium grade ingredients but its not.
Good food friendly, 3 cat purrs, an extra car purr for offering gf wraps, but they should state or in their menu🤔
This was one jumping spot. My wife and I both got sandwiches to go and both were very good and accompanied by a pickle wedge and chips. I think you could sit down immediately if eating in, but half the patrons were there for take away.
Great sandwiches! We ordered on-line twice and the order was wrong both times.
Just had lunch with my husband. He got the pastrami sandwich. It was 10 dollars, and according to him, the worst pastrami he has ever had. It was a cold cut, and sliced too thick. There was very little there, but, no matter, he didnt eat it anyway. I had a chicken salad sandwich which was wonderful. There was nothing in there that didnt belong. The lettuce and tomato were fresh. The bread was also good. Service was quick and friendly. We would go back, but would try something different.
Its been years since Ive been here, nice atmosphere decor is pleasant, but seems extremely un organized, waitstaff run around looking for correct tables while people directing the action behind the counter point being clearly annoyed at tables where food and drinks belong, my girlfriends orange juice was brought 15 mins before my coffee as if to say one is a much greater task than the other, our waiter was pleasant in telling us the sausage biscuits and gravy (what the menus say....what is a sausage biscuit anyway? 🤣🤣) Thats I wanted was unavailable, and then that they didnt have English muffins, she then recommended the French toast, which I also heard her recommended to two ther tables when their orders were unavailable(perhaps dont offer breakfast till 11:45a if you cannot fill the orders on your menu we ordered at 11am) leading me to believe they had plenty of white bread on hand 🙄. Food took 30mins to arrive and was ok. Though not a horrible experience, subpar for what I paid, over $45 for 2 orders of French toast 1 piece of sausage and 2 eggs an orange juice and a coffee. Oh well, lesson learned. Perhaps Ill try again in another 2 years, most likely will not.
Fantastic service on a food and coffee!
Service was extremely good with a clean environment and tasty food. Pastrami sandwich seems to carry a reputation…
Went through drive through and then curb side service. Went smoothly and food was great. I highly recommend.
A nice place to eat. They have a variety of things to try.
I come here for the WiFi but the service is slow. WiFi is fast though and their London fog is great.
Always love eating here. Seems like everything I try is awesome, especially the bbq pulled pork sandwich with a side of soup. Their cookies and smoothies are also really good.
Sunday was really busy and serve as a bit chaotic but the food was good and its in a nice spot
Yummy Nutella and bannana fried sandwich
Excellent food. Decent prices
Good food and great service!
We were all very pleased with our sandwiches, which was the whole point. However, our inexperienced servers strange behavior was bit surprising.
The waitress was very nice. And the food was great
Great place to grab a bite to eat!
Quick healthy eats
The food was amazing, as were he iced sea salt caramel iced coffee and chai latte. Our waitress went back into the kitchen to double check on our meals to make sure they didnt contain gluten. They did a fantastic job of contact tracing, even for folks just stopping in to check the menu. They were on to of making sure masks were on and that social distancing while eating and moving about was maintained. The hostess was especially kind and thoughtful. We will definitely be back.
A little slow but foods great!!
Bit disorganized and when she remade my wrong coffee order. Made it purposely too hot, could not drink it still. It’s been twenty minutes.
So the food is a little pricey BUT its very very well prepared and exceptional portion sizes.
I attended a two day training (yesterday and today). Bell the Cat served us yesterday and the food was wonderful! So fresh, full of flavor, and satisfying. Todays company (not to be named) fell short to say the least I wish Bell the Cat provided today too :/Your Chipotle sweet potato soup was incredible 😋Keep up the great work
The food and service was amazing, I will definitely be visiting this place more often.
Always a great soup and sandwich from Bell the Cat! Love the drive thru window too
The restaurant is very clean and well lit.Portions are more than ample, food is fresh and delicious & the staff is friendly & accomidating. The best macaroon that I have ever eaten ! A must if you arein the area.
Fantastic staff and menu choices. Would recommend for everyone!
The Prosciutto Pannini was delicious!
Been on the list of places we wanted to stop on the way home and away. Finally timed it today and it was well worth it. Called ahead and everything was ready when we arrived. Chicken cutlet was freshly fried, moist and delicious. Will be back next time we are driving through Belfast.
Ok peanutbutter smoothie was great. Rest was OK.
Great sandwiches and breakfast. Vegetarian options. Easy to order through their website for drive through pickup!
We used Bell the Cat to cater the breakfast and lunches for our wedding weekend and the experience was nothing but pleasant. Jojo was extremely accommodating and helpful (GF options, last minute changes, etc) and the food was great! Thank you to the whole Bell the Cat family, cant recommend highly enough!
Great food great service always a must to while in Belfast for lunch
Not only is the staff rude and unhelpful, but the sandwiches are just not great and very expensive
The staff, the food, the overall atmosphere is exceptional.
Wonderful breakfast
Unfriendly staff, unwelcome atmosphere, wrong orders. Would not recommend.
This review is based SOLEY on their iced coffees😁 They are fair priced for the large sizeWhile it isn’t a coffeehouse the 3 stars reflect having some of the best (plain) iced coffee in the area to date and it’s quirks”A few suggestions to make the stars rise would be consistency in the blend used for the daily coffee selections, better prices on their small size and.... though customer service in challenging times can be a tough one.. they overall nailed it! Just need to get the servers to agree on what’s light/medium/dark 😆
Lovely chicken Caesar wrap. Fast service at the li k-up window.
Love the food and service is always nice!
I thought a reuben was supposed to be pastrami, but it came with roast beef. Was still a good sandwich.
Food was good. Service not so much..
Service was impeccable for a large party during covid times. Super delicious sandwiches, wish we could have tried everything. Thanks for great local farm food!
Great food
If I could give more stars I would. I highly recommend Bell The Cat for eating in and catering. They catered our employee holiday party and are rock stars at planning and preparing a crowd pleasing meal! We ordered fresh assorted breads, meat lasagna, beautifully arranged, fresh, perfectly roasted vegetables, a beautiful fresh garden salad, and assorted freshly baked bars and cookies. Everyone went back for seconds, thirds and even fourths. Thank you to Lynn and the entire crew for your outstanding talent. You helped make it a very special event! Many Thanks! Beth and Peter Daley and the team at Green Home Solutions of Mid-Coast Maine.
I ordered a salad and a sandwich from here. I have never had a problem with a salad before, I mean you can’t really mess up a salad? But this place did. For starters, they didn’t give me any dressing. I had to walk back up to the window and the woman actually says to me “I saw you pull dressing out of the bag, was that not your dressing?”. The dressing she saw was for the sandwich, not my salad. The salad itself was more like a pile of whole vegetables thrown on a plate with the worlds most dry tuna salad slabbed on top. I couldn’t even eat most of the veggies because they were huge chunks that clearly no one took the time to slice as you should for a salad. I had only plastic utensils, not the cutlery required to tackle this beast they called a salad. I also have a dairy allergy and there were a few blue cheese crumbles mixed in with my lettuce- despite the salad that I ordered not even having blue cheese as an original topping. I understand that times are hard right now, but if you have to sacrifice basic quality- then don’t stay open.
Every single time I choose curbside pick up I wind up waiting 20+ minutes past the promised time, just to call them and for them to tell me to pull up to the window. Curbside should not be an option if this is what happens. 3rd time now. Food was good though.
I went at lunchtime with some work friends. We sat outside. I am not a small figured lady, I found the chairs to uncomfortably small and they have slats in them so pieces of your bottom squishes out. The food is almost always delicious, which it was again this time, but the service falls short each time I visit. There seems to be not enough wait staff for all the customers that are there to dine. They often forget what I asked them to bring me, like a spoon, or one time I wanted my change back and I asked for all ones so I could leave a tip(the spoon was forgotten until nearly all my whip cream was melted from my hot cocoa, and the waitress did not bring me ones). The wait staff is friendly though. Not my first choice of places to eat in Belfast, but my coworkers like it and the food is good.
Love the food and they always get my order right!!
The food was great, but the service was pretty slow and seemed kind of confused. We never really knew who our waitress was, and had to ask for our drinks to be delivered after our food arrived. We did appear to be there during a shift change, but they appear to need to organize a little better.
Met the owner at my work and asked him about the menu, was told the Reubens were great, went a couple days later and was not disappointed! Great food, great service. Will be making this a regular trip now!
Great food with excellent service, Always!!
Walking in it seemed a little yuppie/ hipster. No senior menu. But I had a huge breakfast including excellent coffee for $8.99. bacon, eggs, toast, home fries. And fruit! Bang for the buck and all quality! Also whole kitchen could be seen, staff very friendly, very clean.
Worth the price, very tasty sandwiches!
They make the best sandwiches. My husband is picky about his BLTs and he thinks Bell the CAT make y the best BLT outside of NYC.There soups are delicious. I personally love their hot sandwiches so when we are heading south we stop there first then we are all set for the 95.My kids love the outside area. Try it. You wont regret it. Much better than fast foods and you can get food to take on your journey.
Fantastic service and delicious food. And the maniac smoothie... Wow
Sandwiches were great. Coffee was weak and not hot. Live music was nice, not too loud. Table had not been wiped so we took care of that ourselves as best we could since the wood boards had lots of nooks and crannies that contained crumbs from previous diners. Next time we may just PU to go and get coffee elsewhere..
Delicious food and friendly staff!
I go here about once a month, and I always enjoy the sandwiches I get. The service is very good as well. Its also a very nice place to work on a computer, and most tables have convenient outlets.
We really love the wide variety of menu,Choices, especially the breads and soups, and the service here. The desserts are especially decadent. The new location’s atmosphere is also quite an improvement. This all being said we would definitely eat there more often with an adjustment in pricing.
Great family run business. Varied menu, everything is delicious. The staff is fantastic. Everyone loves this place and its easy to see why
Superb!!!!! the food is excellent!!!! everything!!! they deliver as well and at work we put in a large order and they deliver, its a great service that we appreciate here at work as most places do not deliver.the only draw back is its hard to get through phone to place order becasuse they are so busy....and why...because its one of the few best places here in Belfast to eat!!!!! try it here you wont be sorry. The cafe is cute, quaint and very clean, staff is excellent and friendly.
