It seems that Lucy Rader Birch, the owner, is facing a Grand Larceny investigation. Her lies are extremely credible and until I read the review posted by Theresa B. on October 22nd, I truly thought the delay was with the manufacturer. Since then, I have found that (she told me on the phone) she and her boyfriend/carpenter (Bruce) have split up, she is homeless, and she ‘wants to get my money back to me and needs some time to figure it out’ . . . After providing a $9300.00 deposit on August 7th, I have been told one lie after another. I have all the documents, the emails, the notes and have written a complete statement and filed a complaint (Case# 520-01529) with the Lawrence County Sheriff. In Indiana, anything over $750 is Grand Larceny and I intend to pursue both criminal and civil charges in court. She informed me she is closing the shop, moving the contents into a garage (homeless but has a garage? ). The business phone number has been disconnected. I wish there was a way for all those scammed by Affordable Kitchens to contact each other – we could share information. The Affordable Kitchen website has been shut down, she is blocking all social media from the view of those she has scammed. She continues to run the group site on Facebook: Design a Sign
Have used these people for three different kitchens. First two times it was OK. The third time Lucy took a deposit of over $5000 and never any cabinets delivered. She told me she would give me my money back but in over 2 years she has no. Shame on me for believing her - lie after lie after lie. How can she sleep at night? Her mother would be proud of her I bet.
Great customer service
