Awful experience! Horrible alterations! Lady does NOT know what shes doing!! Prom dress was floor model and was full price. Alterations were horrible and completely unprofessional!! Got it home and it wreaked of fried fish! Will NEVER GO BACK and I would suggest you dont go there either!!

The woman who works there is so nice. She helps you with whatever you need and is willing to go the extra mile. Definitely would go there again!

Janet saved the day for the alterations she did for my daughter. Cant thank her enough. Highly recommend stopping at her shop to have ANY tailoring work done.

I purchased a wedding gown from Designs For You because I won a gift certificate at a bridal fair. When I made an appointment to try on dresses, Janet nor her employee helped me much. Either way, I found a dress and my mother paid the required deposit to order the dress. I was told the dress would take up to six months, understandable. After six months without hearing about my dress, I called the store to make sure everything was going okay. I was told they could not order my dress for another six months because she didn’t have enough money, even though we paid exactly what was required of us. Janet was rude to me but said she would get the dress in so I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. A month passes by with still no contact so I contacted the dress company. Finally, they put my order through and my dress came in. I thought that was the end of the nightmare but no! My dress is so big it falls right off me, no idea why because Janet took my measurements and I had gained weight in the 7 months. The money I saved will probably go into alterations now. I don’t recommend this shop to anyone. Find another local, reasonable dress shop.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! The owner tried to push my sister into getting a more expensive dress then she wanted. Still she found a dress she loved. The owner said that it would be in in about 3.5 months. About four months later without hearing anything we called. The owner said that it would be another couple of weeks. Well a month later we go in and she had ordered the wrong size! She said it was because we ordered with short notice (which we didn’t since it had been four months). After multiple times trying to lie she eventually told the truth that she had forgotten to order it and didn’t order until we had called the couple weeks ago. She also lied originally and said she didn’t know they were sending the size down. Eventually she told the truth that she ordered the size down since they didn’t have the correct size in stock. So she knew about the size problem long before we came in and chose not to tell us. Long story short it’s now two months from the wedding and my sister has no dress to wear. Please no one go here! Warn your friends and family! The owner is a liar and tried to get even more money in alterations that would make the dress look terrible with a stripe down the side. She has all one star reviews on the knot right now so I can’t believe that this is just a fluke. RUN AWAY!!

Took my little sister here to find a prom dress and loved it. We had some issues with the dress she originally chose not being available, but they were prompt in letting us know and helping her order a different one. The prices were great, and there was no fee for them to alter the straps on her dress which were way too long! I heard about this place through other people and Im so glad I didnt waste my time taking her to Madison like I was going to! Might I mention, this was less than a week before prom that we came in! Will definitely be back in a few years for my other little sisters prom!

I walked in to look at dresses and was invited with the most sincere hospitality to try on some dresses, no appointment needed...after trying on several GORGEOUS gowns...I found the dress of my dreams. With no intention of buying a dress that day I walked out with a breathtaking gown that I didnt want to take off. The price was unbeatable! The whole experience was intimate, sweet, hospitable, and perfect. Cant say enough good about this shop and its owner.

Ordered my daughters prom dress and Janet did alterations on the dress and put a corset back on the dress. It took over a month for alterations but finally the dress was done so my daughter tried the dress on and the front was cut too short on bottom and the white tooling was showing, and the back was to long on bottom. Janet reordered the dress and it came in but it was a size 18! My daughter is a size 13. Needless to say I got a refund for the prom dress

Such a sad thing. My husband and I have looked on photos of our happy day many times over the years and realized just how terrible my grooms (the star of the show!!) tux fit him. Our groomsmen fit alright and granted my hubby was bigger at the moment than hed like but it was NOT at ALL fit for him properly. They had MONTHS to make sure it was done right and nearly didnt have it even in for him on our special day!! My dress was gorgeous, granted, and purchased through them...great selection and help in that process BUT the dress hadnt been bustled correctly (by them) and my poor MOH and sister picked it up the whole night. Bums me out because I know weddings dont go as planned but this could have been corrected. They even wanted to post our wedding photos at the shop to advertise. I said yes before I saw my husbands tux...after that, I kept our photos with us. Didnt want him to be embarrassed. I didnt think it was such a big deal until my hubby and I started a business and got to know just how clients should be handled and thought this just isnt right. We shouldnt be embarrassed of our photos even though we werent weight wise where we wanted to be. Such a beautiful day and dress but after 4 years, I am still sore about the tux. Its a shame.

I got a beautiful prom dress, but the alterations that were done were too much and I had to undo them a bit. Otherwise, theres great staff. Super nice and know what theyre doing. I would for sure recommend them.

These ladies are wonderful! My sister ended up with 2 dresses for her wedding because they were priced so great! My bridesmaids dress got just as many compliments as hers!! I also picked up just a beautiful dress I couldnt resist while we were shopping. I needed a different size 6 months later and they exchanged it no problem! I reccomend this shop to everyone! Make the trip! So worth it!!!! Made the day!!!!!

I have been doing business here since they opened in 2004. Theyve never had anyone who worked there named Deb so I think that other review is talking about a different store? The owner Janet had been sewing for over 40 years and does amazing work. She loves to help people and make sure they get a good price too. She gives hugs when you need it and encouragement during the stress of wedding planning. I have had countless gowns (including my wedding gown) altered here and theyve all LOOKED INCREDIBLE!! If you have ever had alterations done anywhere else, youre paying too much and youre not getting the best quality --- I say this from experience, other places just dont measure up in the way of alterations. She makes it her mission to help others look great and save money. (I like to save money and look great, not sure about you). The men in my wedding party looked great... a few pieces from their tuxes had to be exchanged to fit more perfectly (thats normal though). We got our invitations here, bridesmaid dresses, mother of bride gown, accessories etc. I recommend this place to anyone who needs quality formalwear or wedding help. They know about great catering places and even affordable places to have a wedding. Janet constantly orders new dresses, accessories etc and can order anything, anytime in the right size or perfect color. She helps plus size and tall women (like me) and makes them feel great. Other places seem rude because you dont fit in their small dresses. I wont shop anywhere else when I need a cute outfit for a formal event.

Dress was not even started on the day I was supposed to pick it up....instead of finishing the dress today, she is going to try and get it done around my appointments. I now have to wait and pick up the day before I need it....leaving no time to change anything that may need adjusting.I sincerely hope that everything is perfect when I pick it up. It was not made right today, hopefully they will make right their mistake when I pick it up. I would like nothing more than to be able to come back and give a new/ updated review.Update:She was still working on my dress when I came in to pick up today. The job was done, but after inspecting it (when I got home....no time to do so in the shop since I had to wait for it to be completed), it was done poorly. Loose threads, ripped seams that should not have been touched, a crooked hem. I will have to fix it myself this evening.....was WAY too much money, especially considering the quality.I will definitely not be returning.

My maid of honor and I went here and found a dress we loved. we had the lady order one for us. awhile later my maid of honor called Designs For You to check on the order and the owner had completely lost the order. so we ordered it again. we received a call from them saying the dress came in. my maid of honor went down there to try it on and it was the wrong color and it was a size 20 instead of the size 12 that we asked for. this place caused a lot of stress. would not recommend.

Not impressed with service. Took almost 3 months to get my suit back from getting it dry cleaned. Im not very impressed.

Beautiful dresses at an affordable price. telling all my friends about it. i also love the fact that they write your name and the dress that you got down so noone that goes there gets the same dress

STAY AWAY!!!!!To start out with trying on dresses the owner kept bring me dresses I wasnt asking for, later realized it was because I was looking for less expensive dresses... but what ever. I still found a dress I loved. We ordered it in October and paid in full for it then! She told me it should be in around February, okay. March I had TO CALL HER, she couldnt find my order at first! Then told me it would be in in a coupld weeks still. It did come in within the next couple weeks. Well we go for my fitting and to pick up the dress. Tried it on, it was so tight. That was weird because I asked her to order a size UP from the store model, even said a size up on my order from. It was a SIZE DOWN!!! The owner then told they ran out of the size I wanted, and that is what happens when you short term order things.... we DIDNT short term order it! We ordered it 4 almost 5 months ago! Long story short after lie after lie round about talking we finally would get the truth in all the lies. She had FORGOT to order my dress. Then was going to charge us to alter the wrong size dress she ordered!! Why would I ever let her touch a dress when every seamstress would know to order up then... The Owner the one I worked with never said sorry once! To top it all off the new belt I ordered she had openned and had it out for customers to us! I have never dealt with someone who ran a business who would lie repeatedly and never once apologize for anything. So now with less then 2 months I dont have a dress! I would never suggest this place to anyone. Luckily I want a simple dress so hopefully will find one still. I would never wish this on any Bride STAY AWAY!

Four dresses ordered and altered from this location. All four dresses where messed up several times. One dress we ordered we were informed 2 months later that they never ordered it and it was now impossible to order so we had to find a new one. The bridesmaids alterations had to be done 2-3 times because things were not centered correctly and they measured the girls wrong. The brides dress was not ordered from here but taken here for alterations and they did a horrible job! Ended up taking it somewhere else to get their destruction fixed. We went in 8 months before the wedding and when the dresses were finally there they put it off for months. They put if off for so long that prom/homecoming season came around and they put those dresses before ours. Will never go back here and will never recommend this place to anyone!

I like the unique choices on bridal gowns and tuxedos, rarely found anywhere else, and that I saved money on what I bought. I like the idea that a million people across the U.S. wont be in the same outfit as me. The staff here were friendly to my huge family and were able to help with many areas of what we needed - tuxes for big, tall, small and wide family members including my boys. They had dresses for plus size girls and women, and they said they could even order dresses with extra length (although were short, it was still nice to know they can customize pretty much anything).I like to support small town, family run businesses like Designs For You because I believe they are the foundation of what America was built on. Big stores are corporate run and that means that many more people across the U.S. will be wearing the same thing, the choices are generic, the prices are crazy especially on alterations, and the people that worked in these places that Ive met were rude to members in my wedding party that needed larger sizes, even my bride! So, we went to Designs For You and we are glad we did! Personal, kind service and my wallet thanked me.

My experience was AMAZING! I have been to bigger bridal shops that make you feel rushed and they dont see your vision. They actually told me I couldnt have the alterations I wanted because it wasnt designed that way. When i walked in she made me feel like I have known her for years and she really made my vision come to life! She knew exactly what i wanted and was just as enthusastic as I was and because of her I will not only marry my the man of my dreams but I will also have the dress of my dreams!Thank you for making this experience perfect!
