What a wonderful, cute oasis of a place nestled in the middle of a cool, quaint neighborhood near downtown Baton Rouge. This place has so much charm and character. Its not only a grocery store, but they also have a small café and serve breakfast and lunch. While traveling on business last month, I made it a habit to come by every day and pick up lunch for me and several co-workers. This place has great salads, Po Boys, and even a daily lunch special. The food is reasonably priced and the two ladies who run the place are super nice and engaging. I highly recommend you stop by to say hello and maybe even buy something.

While Spanish Town Market has been around for ages, my first experience was absolutely incredible. The new owner Travis is very friendly and makes EXCELLENT burgers. I recommend them to my co-workers, who then placed an order for quite a few others. Everyone enjoyed their food and ordered again the next day. We will definitely be going back again and again.@TheJDSReview

Went here very often when I worked nearby, so much so they knew my name and order. Still eat here as often as I can when Im around. Food is outstanding, service is friendly. Yes, it takes a little longer than most places to get your food-but its fresh and delicious, well worth the time. This is my favorite burger in town (get the Texas Melt).

Ive seen this place go though different hands in my time. To me its lost its identity, and it doesnt seem like its part of Spanish town anymore. The employees that Ive encountered recently have been nothing but nice. Yet, its not a place where I could regularly visit anymore based upon its contents. Yeah you can get a nice meal here, it just doesnt feel like the same spirit of community is present here. I wish nothing but the best for the market and would love to see it thrive, but it seems like the shell of what it once was.

Nice little place. Picked up a good burger for lunch. I wish it was more clear where you should park to not get towed. Thats why I got my food to go.I will have to try some of the new City Gelato in the freezer next time. They had cantelope flavor. Yum.

We got the club sandwich with sweet potato fries, and a club salad. Very good. I would have given five stars if they let me have a beer with my lunch. They sell beer, but it cant be consumed there.

Nothing else quite like it in Baton Rouge. Spanish Town Market (or Spanish Town Grocery) is a survivor. It was around when the city was bursting with new industry 100 years ago, it somehow held on when downtown was on life support in the 1980s and 1990s, and its still open for business today. You can feel the history when you see it and walk inside. And the hot food is usually very good. For more serious grocery shopping you may need to go to Mathernes a few blocks over. But they have the basics. And youll meet some interesting people.

Love the food, all the time. Neighborhood grocer and hot plate spot with such inner and outer ambiance is hard to anywhere else in BR. Solid selection for a good lunch, with local flare (boudin, po-boys, etc).Would give 5 stars, but on my 3rd trip, was disappointed in the loonngg wait and they dont do free refills.
