As a 50 year old 1st time runner i had no idea what to expect when I visited the store. I was welcomed like a friend, got 3-D scans of my feet and got the most personalized service I have ever received. Jenny was awesome and took great care to help me find just the right shoe to get me started.

I walked in nervous and completely unsure of what to expect...everyone in the place seemed so athletic and certain of themselves...but was warmly greeted by Sarah Catherine, who did a full gait assessment. I am just getting into a walking program to complete the half-marathon in January and needed a good shoe for training and walking. She was incredibly patient, thoughtful, and helpful in finding just the right pair for me. I could not be more pleased! Expert, friendly service with a great selection. My wife researched what shoes she wanted before going, but after consulting with an expert from Varsity based on her foot anatomy, she chose a more perfect shoe for her. I cannot recall our salesman’s first name, but last name was Doan. Highly recommend!

The staff here are extremely helpful and knowledgeable! Even though we were there on a super busy day (Saturday), they had plenty of staff on site to help give all customers individual attention to help them find the best fit. They measured my foot using a machine to gauge the size and support level I would need and then pulled out 5 different pairs to try out. Once I found a shoe I liked they tweaked the sizing to be just right for me. Kristen was absolutely amazing and I would recommend this store to anyone asking where to buy shoes!!

I was visiting Baton Rouge, for a marathon, and visited Varsity Sports, in hope of buying running shoes. Being from a large city, Chicago, my expectations of finding a good running store were low. Was I ever set straight when walking through the doors of their Baton Rouge location. Their staff, product selection and pricing sets the bar high. The customer service received from an LSU student part-timer and also store manager, Kristen, was truly impressive. Ive been a distance runner for decades, run at least one marathon in every state, often 20 marathons/year and visited many running stores. Varsity Sports is as good as it gets.

If you take running seriously, you shop somewhere that takes it as seriously as you do. Varsity Sports is hands down the spot to go for all things running. They have the best brands and the most knowledgeable staff.

This place is very quaint and I love the staff. I gave it four stars because the first time I went the employee watched me walk and looked at my feet and looked for whatever shoe was good for my foot structure. The second time I went they didn’t do that and just suggested different styles. I am still happy with my shoes and my experience but wish they would of done that the second time.

Last two times I have been there they have given me exempleary service and value. They also started carrying 3XL shirts so I can actually wear one now instead of giving them away. I am really impressed with everything about this company.

Exactly what you should expect from a shoe store that specializes in running shoes. This was another place that was recommended to me by the sales person at the Backpacker. They had plenty of options to select from and the sales people were very nice. Store looks a little nontraditional from the outside and the parking is limited, but dont let that stop you from patronizing.

I just got a new pair of running shoes from here, the last pair I got from here lasted me 3 years. While thats not a huge achievement, it is if youre a regular runner and the shoes are still comfortable. You get a free T shirt as well. They will look at your feet and watch you walk and make recommendations on what type of shoe would be best for your feet. Well worth the bang for your buck.

This morning I went in for running shoes. I was lucky enough to get assistance from Jessica--SHE WAS AWESOME! I tried on a million pairs and she never tired of my complaining, critiquing or whining. She did an awesome job! I felt like I was the only customer in the place. I walked in and was immediately serviced. The shoes were expensive, but I consider these an investment...if your feet have ever ached...you know what I mean! Theres no price too high for comfort. Ultimately, I walked out with a great fitting pair of runners. Jessica made well meaning suggestions and even told me how to order my next pair. Im very pleased...Im still wearing them right now! I love this place.

Even though it was extremely crowded with many high school athletes shopping after a big race, the staff was taking time with each customer and offering great assistance. I thought we would have to wait 30-45 minutes to get help, but we had help within 5 minutes. I was impressed with the attendant coaching my son through the fitting process.

Ok, so I am no runner. I have extremely low arches, which causes me to get painful shin splints when running. But Ive been trying to walk/jog for better health, and I needed shoes that could provide more support. I had always known about Varsity Sports, but I had never actually visited. (I assumed it would be a bunch of super fit guys in bike shorts and tank tops, not-so-secretly judging my portly body and flat feet.) I was driving by and decided to stop in simply to get some advice on a pair of running shoes. First of all, dont judge the store by its storefront. It looks quaint from the outside, but theres a ton of rear space, making for a very nice showroom. The salespeople were all incredibly nice and super helpful. Actually, calling them salespeople might be an insult to their knowledge. Theyre more like foot geniuses. They had me take off my shoes, and they watched me walk in a line back and forth between them so that they could observe my pronation. Then they brought out at least six pairs of shoes for me to try on and walk around in to see which felt most comfortable for me. Never did they rush me into a decision or pressure me to buy anything. It was without question one of the best shopping experiences I have ever had, and I walked out with a new pair of shoes. (And a free t-shirt!!!)

Decided to give them a try for my sons running shoes for Track for school. Super helpful. Super friendly. They examine your foot/walk and you sit while they get all different shoes for you to try. Ended up with a pair on sale and walked out spending way less than i thought! We will definitely be back! And the free tshirt is a nice plus!!

Varsity Sports is the place to go for running shoes and related athletic gear in Baton Rouge. Just like Marathon Sports in Boston, they will evaluate your gait and help you select shoes to help you run more safely and easily. The selection is excellent, the staff extremely friendly and helpful, and the owner is a great supporter of the running and fitness communities in town. Even if you are a casual runner, you will find good products and excellent service.

Super nice people, mostly excellent service. There were only a couple of things that bothered me. If they dont carry a certain shoe, they dont offer to order it for you. Also, theres no possibility of a refund, only exchanges and store credit. If you take home a pair of shoes and its clear after a day that they wont work, you cant just get a refund and start over with another store or buy online. This might be a huge negative for some. In my case, I got assistance from someone who understood what I needed and I was able to find the right shoes.

Staff were very knowledgeable and accommodating, not just for athlete... Used a machine that took 3D foot measurements, pressure map and more, it recommended insoles for my foot (better than the ones at Wal-Mart) and gave the employee valuable information on which shoes I needed for my foot problems.

Really the best place in Baton Rouge to buy shoes. Extremely friendly staff who are very helpful. Everyone there is a running enthusiast who is happy to help. Plus you get a free shirt and who doesnt love that! I wouldnt buy shoes anywhere else.

Its not a big store.Yay!😋 The regular shirts are $5 and the tie-dye shirts are 14.95. They also sell shoes but they are really high. They had a really good service and tried to help in ANY way they could. Whenever u needed to ask a question theyre stop what theyre doing and go straight to solve your problem. So, overall this is a lovely store.😋😇😉
