It has day off on Monday. They close at 21 but it has a lot of arts in there so if you want to look around all you should visit early for looking all of them.If you visit Moscow then you have to visit here. It will take almost 4-5 hours to look around normally. You should check it.The entrance price 400 ruble as i remember with this price can enjoy the art? There is no reason to not visit here.
This is a magical place. So many great works in one place - its a miracle! A find for the lover of ancient art. We walked with a friend all day and were not even tired. On the contrary, we have only energy and inspiration that we will come again to recharge ourselves with high energy.
Love this gallery. Could be renamed Russian history picture museum!
Art is my life. Make your visit to Tretyakovskiy art gallery. Лучшая галерея мира
This place certainly changed my perspective on how deep of a culture Russia has behind its history. this is by far one of the best museums in the world
Don’t miss viewing these global treasures!Brilliant collection. Thank you.🙏🙏👌🦚🦚
Beautiful pictures, PaintingDefining the Russian and world historyOne of the oldest art galleryGood staff
So many paintings that I saw only in schoolbook. Really nice. Dont forget to take something warm, its cold inside
Great Gallery. I cant forget this fantastic place. I miss this gallery so much
Obviously it was raining and cold when we were waiting in line to get in (we visited Russia in fall). There were a lot of tourists and guide groups inside as it is a famous place. Basically, if you know something about paintings, art, or History - you will find at least one paining you are familiar with. Take a guided group obviously so you know whats where and learn something new and interesting. Some paintings are as old as from 1100s all the way till now modern time.
There are many true treasures there. If you like Russian arts, plan to spend at least a few hours there, and then you will only mostly see highlights.
What an amazing memorable place when i went in i wasnt sure of the amount of beautiful Art present at this gallery my original plan was to spend couple of hours only but i ended up being mesmerized and deeply lost in the beautiful paintings and lost track of time. Below you can see some of my favorite paintings at the gallery. I would highly recommending this place if you are Art lover like me.
The State Tretyakov Gallery is an art gallery in Moscow, Russia, the foremost depository of Russian fine art in the world. The gallerys history starts in 1856 when the Moscow merchant Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov acquired works by Russian artists of his day with the aim of creating a collection, which might later grow into a museum of national art. In 1892, Tretyakov presented his already famous collection of approximately 2,000 works (1,362 paintings, 526 drawings, and 9 sculptures) to the Russian nation. The façade of the gallery building was designed by the painter Viktor Vasnetsov in a peculiar Russian fairy-tale style. It was built in 1902–04 to the south from the Moscow Kremlin. During the 20th century, the gallery expanded to several neighboring buildings, including the 17th-century church of St. Nicholas in Tolmachi. The collection contains more than 130,000 exhibits, ranging from Theotokos of Vladimir and Andrei Rublevs Trinity to the monumental Composition VII by Wassily Kandinsky and the Black Square by Kazimir Malevich. In 1977 the Gallery kept a significant part of the George Costakis collection. In May 2012, the Tretyakov Art Gallery played host to the prestigious FIDE World Chess Championship between Viswanathan Anand and Boris Gelfand as the organizers felt the event would promote both chess and art at the same time.
One of the top classical art location in Moscow and in Russia. A lot of Russian artists are presented - Repin, Surikov, Savrasov etc.
Amazing place to visit! A must see in Moscow!
This gallery is an unique place which must be protected and preserved as better as possible.. I’m still so astound - the painting collection makes me think how great can actually be the humans;)) don’t laugh 😂 but only the concern .. would the Russia be able to maintain the needed care to that priceless place properly and.. take the responsibility... I wish the best to its future:()
There are some points which must precisely be considered.1) It is a MUST to go there in the morning, unless you cannot cover all its parts.2) You definitely need to have an English map to figure out how the gallery has been organized.3) Do not miss any part. If you are in short of time or sth else, plan to come again. The gallery is really a dynamic ocean of art.
Ive left my heart there
Great place for visti. Russian art . Andrei Rubliov is a must

The stories of the drawings and the artists themselves are amazing. In addition there is a restaurant in the ground floor with tasty local dishes.

A fabulous selection of wonderful.pieces by Russian artists. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and gave great explanations that brought the artworks alive. My advice is take the time to enjoy not just file past which is what happens in many places.

Nice gallery with lots of famous paintings and cool bookstore selling unique souvenirs
I wasnt well introduced to Russian artists really, so this is a wonderful surprise. Russian artists didnt only draw for formalities but a lot more that appeals to normal uneducated public. The amazing works on fairy tales, nationalism, nature, humor, etc was a great surprise. I loved it and would certainly go there again. Several times if I can.NOTE. Google Maps tells you it closes at 6pm. Right, but last ticket sold to enter is by 5pm then they block entry and wait till 6pm to have all audience inside to leave. I tried to do something about it, but Google Maps is just not geared to handle this.
Incredible museum, with high volume of beautiful 19th century pieces.
I never would have expected to be captivated like this by Russian classicism. Absolutely beautiful!Clearly recommended to visit!
Very beautiful permanent exhibition with some interesting paintings. Only one flaw: most of the painting have a bad lighting...

One od the most beautiful gallery in Europe
This is a must go place in Rusia. We spent 4 hours watching an amazing piece of art. Unique paint and sculpture!
Take time to finish the tour.
It is worth visiting.
A cosy place holding some of Russian masters well-known masterpieces.
Must visit place in Moscow for those who loves art and interested in Russian history. Serov, Shishkin, Aivazovsky, Vrubel, Korovin, Serebryakova, Nesterov show Russia, its people in different angles, various situations, historic moments. My advice is to take audio guide, it makes your tour more deep and conscious. In Rus, which is Nesterov painting, Id never see Dostoevsky and Tolstoy without an explanation. There are so many deep moments you can catch there.
Unbelivable collection of art
Lovely gallery with many paintings from 17-19th centuries by Russian artists I had never heard of. Early paintings a bit derivative in style, but otherwise a great learning experience.

Nice and peacefull place.
Some great examples of impressionist works from Europe - really worth seeing
The cashiers were rude and unfriendly and refused to follow the discounts rules until their boss came and told them so. It mostly ruined the impression from the gallery. Also lots of exhibited paintings were taken off and empty spaces were left.
A collection of paintings, icons and mural works! Each painting has an explanation to it.
Very nice gallery, very nice pictures from famous Russian artists, i suggest it to every tourist, simple asstonishing

Hahaha
Great place to visit! Just loved it
This is the must visit gallery when in Moscow. It had been closed for many years for renovation. There are so many masterpieces of so many artists exhibited so can spend a whole day (or even more) inside. From time to time there are special exhibitions, e.g. Arkhip Kuindzhi some 2 years ago, which are always worth a visit.
So great 👍👍👍
Bigger and richer than I expected. Chronicle of famous Russian paintings, I spent time in the first halls and then I noticed there are more stunning masterpieces in the latest halls. There are souvenirs shops and cafe that i didnt check them. You need around 3 hours at least, its better to ask for audio guide or guide. I found info about some famous paintings on Google, but for sure having guide makes this visit more apprehensible.
Its a large collection of art. Takes almost 3-4 hrs to complete the visit. Worth your money.
A treasure trove of Suprematist art, the Virgin of Vladimir and Andrei Rublev icons
Amazing place to discover or revisit the best works of Russian classical and jugendstil-era fine arts
