Delightful restaurant on Main Street in downtown Bar Harbor. We were in the mood for seafood and Peekytoe Provisions hit the spot. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and it was fresh, flavorful, and delicious, a pleasant change from most of the calamari weve eaten. As a main course, my wife ordered the spinach salad with blackened salmon and the fish was cooked perfectly. I was happy that she shared some with me. I ordered one of the daily specials, a halibut sandwich, and I was very pleased. The fish was tender and perfectly cooked and the tomatoes were the best ones of the season. I washed down the meal with a bottle of Lunch IPA and finally learned where the name comes from (I wont spoil the surprise) and we finished the meal with a delightful lemon bar that was the perfect combination of sweet and tart.

We enjoyed sitting outside at Peekytoe Provisions. It was a beautiful day. There was about a 20 minute wait to get in, but we enjoyed the environment and food. We had the panko fried shrimp and Haddock fish tacos. I would recommend eating here. I highly recommend the whoopie pie before you go!

Atrocious. I should have turned around when I read the unwelcoming signage out front. My husband is a bit more relaxed so I rolled with it. It was raining and the inside seating was closed because the owner is still afraid of COVID-19. With that in mind, we walked up stairs and felt obligated to sit outside in the rain and have lobster bisque and chowder. The bisque was okay and we added extra lobster to it. Let me repeat, it was raining and the women were rushing to us to make sure we understood that we were not allowed to sit inside. While in the rain outside, sipping on our lukewarm soups, my husband pointed to all of the chairs inside and said, theyre still not past their COVID fears. We ordered bread (the best part of the snack) with the soups as well as two of the worst grilled cheeses we have ever tasted that went unfinished after the first bite. To finish things off, a random person brought a card reader to the table to check us out and held it a few inches from my face and asked us if we wanted to add a tip while my husband inserted his card into the reader. My husband tips very generously and left 20 dollars on a 56 dollar tab. I could have killed him.

Gluten free options on everything except two things on the menu! Amazing. Away from the super crowded waterfront areas. All peaceful comfortable outdoor seating for Covid. Loved the Snapper tacos and the side of coleslaw was different than any I have ever had. I could have eaten an entire meal of it I liked it so much. My lunch was so good I ordered a salad to take with me to save and have for dinner later. I will be back:)

Such tasty seafood, diverse menu, and great prices! Im so glad we found this place on our visit to Acadia. Its takeout only, but somehow the food maintains its integrity and even presentation! My absolute favorites were the scallops, thy were large, cooked to perfection, and in this amazing lemony pepper seasoning! Second up were the haddock tacos, which werent as fried as usual haddock tacos were and in an amazing sauce. The lobster roll was great, very fresh tasting, but I recommend the foot long for an entree, as the regular size is a bit small (but the size is listed, we just missed it). The Asian pulled pork tacos were also pretty good, very filling, but the pickles inside were not my favorite. Overall great place, cant wait to come back!

Whimsical outdoor lunch spot in downtown Bar Harbor. Interesting flavor profiles paired with fresh seafood. What we ordered: cornmeal breaded calamari with banana peppers (special of the day), lazy lobster, and 2 side salads. What we enjoyed: lazy lobster, baby spinach saladIt can get busy around lunchtime but the wait was pretty reasonable (10-20 min for a table).

Everytime we come to Acadia we made sure to stop by Peekytoe at least once. I think its one of the best value for the money places in bar harbor. We normally order from their specials and have yet to be disappointed. The last time we went there we got their red snapper fish tacos and haddock sandwich, which both came with tasty mustardy slaw and a pickle: both of which were very flavorful and cooked to perfection. We also got a cup of their clam chowder and smoked fish chowder. I highly recommend the smoked fish chowder! They also have a modest but well curated selection of beers on tap and local sodas. Definitely worth a stop! Right now they only have outdoor seating.

So I really wanted a good lobster bisque soup. I chose Peekytoe Provisions due to being able to add extra lobster to the bowl. Boy I chose the correct spot! It was absolutely amazing! So much flavor. Just a little kick of spice. And lots of lobster chunks! Wish I had tried it sooner cause it was my last night on the island and I couldnt get anymore.

I don’t often leave a review, but we just enjoyed the absolute BEST fish tacos we’ve ever had. They happened to be swordfish, but I’m sure any fish prepared this way would be amazing. The Bar Harbor Lobster Co was closed the day we came through and that was a stroke of luck for us, because we found Peekytoe while walking down Main. Incredible food with that Northeast charm. The owner was working tables to keep people fed and happy. The daughter she didnt know she had was waiting on our table. Ill say it again...the food was f*^%ing incredible. I would love to see what they could do with their own afters (Those are from a local sweet shop). If they have an open table, or the wait is less than 2 hours, go here!

This place was outstanding. The food was delicious, the service was prompt and kind, and the price point was perfect. We ate a a couple of other places in Bar Harbor, but all the others were about the image, not about the food. Not so here. Its clearly all food driven, and thankfully so for their clientele. Bravo.

This spot came highly recommended by a local for its fresh seafood. Barely touched on the extensive menu; Lobster Roll and Steamed Local Clams were hits; crab cakes were thin and mealy and not the lump crab experience for which we hoped. Might just be regional preparation. Friendly, efficient staff and nice beverage selection.

We stopped by here for an early dinner on Sunday evening and it was a lovely experience! Most tables were already taken, but we were able to snag one of the few remaining ones.We had the clam chowder, the crab cakes, the crabby patty and fish tacos. For the most part, the food was decent. The soup was lukewarm when it came out, but it was yummy. We werent waited on very much by the waitress, but we could see they were quite busy so we didnt mind. It was a little bit awkward when the waitress asks aloud if you want to tip and can see how much as you tap the screen, but I get that thats part of using Square-type machine for payment.Overall, its a wonderful stop to get a quick bite to eat and be on your way.

Ill start with the good: almost everything we had was delicious and fresh. Our kids ate the lobster bisque and hot dog and loved it.The bad: wait time (20m~ for a table and some more for the food). The one dish I didnt love was the seaweed salad - it was too hard to chew.Still 5 stars in my book.

I love this little place! The menu offers many types of options, so should make everyone happy. I tend to be gluten free, so I ordered the Lazy Lobster, which is nothing but cooked lobster with butter. Side of great slaw and a pickle. I also am not a beer drinker. They had Kombucha, alcoholic and nonalcoholic! Very happy with that. They have homemade desserts, I saw the blueberry pie go by and it looked great. The staff were very friendly and professional. This market-restaurant surprises us a lot!!! We had 3 meals at Bar Harbor. Due to the winter season and Covid, there are few restaurants open. We had our first meal here and enjoyed it very much. Then we went to another restaurant which was so expensive and awful taste. And we came back here for the last meal. We ordered the mussels which was the last one at that day. They gave us 1/3 more than the regular amount!!! I’ll soooooo recommend here. Very reasonable price and wonderful taste!

We specifically told the wait staff we will order the haddock taco for the kids and on the menu it had no mention of the salsa being spicy. This should have triggered the staff to say oh wait the salsa is spicy maybe you should order something else for the kids but they didn’t. Unfortunately the kids couldn’t eat it because it was too spicy. The owner argued that salsa is usually spicy. Most restaurants will inform their customers that something is spicy but this place didn’t. The owner didn’t want to remove the taco charge because we took a bite! To be clear, our two kids each had one bite and i took a bite to confirm that it was spicy before letting the staff know. How would we know if the taco is spicy or not unless we take a bit? The owner came out clearly annoyed and argumentatively that we complained about the food being spicy. Clearly we didn’t want a second order because we didn’t want any surprises so we ended up leaving and paying for the taco that the kids couldn’t eat!!! Do not go to this place as the owners do not care for their customers!

I grew up on MDI and am a bit picky about my seafood. This place is awesome! I love how they source so much of their seafood locally and include some often overlooked species on the menu ( monkfish anyone?). The prices are reasonable, portions large, and everything’s super tasty. And then if you’re inspired to cook some fish at home, they have a great little fish market in the back! This is a go-to for me every time I’m back home on the island.

0 stars for the lobster roll AND the service!Honest-to-god, the quality of the lobster roll was absolutely terrible, like nauseatingly bad, which was very surprising given the positive reviews. The lobster looked and tasted like rubber (see photo for evidence). My stomach felt off the entire rest of the day, which isnt ideal on vacation. Im glad I captured a photo of the meal to drive the message home to prospective customers. When I called to politely let them know the fish was poor quality, I received a snarky response from a female employee. Then, after some discussion, she offered to take the lobster roll off my bill. She of course never refunded me as promised.

Wouldve rated this a 4 because the food was good. Not great but good . But had to rate it a three because the service was really not great. Its a seafood joint. So we asked the waitressThe first girl who seated us was really nice but then we had a different waitress. This girl was was acting like she didnt want to be there. Its a seafood joint so we asked her a simple question about the salmon. Where is it from? couldnt even give us an answer. We should have left immediately - red flag. Not only did she not know the answer, she didnt care and didnt say that she was going to ask anyone else. The food felt like it was trying to be different and interesting but didnt really succeed. The best thing was that the calamari was soft and tender and the dipping sauce was great. The bean soup legit tasted like blended grass. The fish tacos were kind of nice but missing an umph and had a bitter flavor that didnt really go with the fish.Like the other reviews say, food will take forever to come out ( hence the sign in front) and no bathrooms. We ended up leaving a tip because we know things are tough for service workers because of covid ... This shop and restaurant is unworldly. One would assume a shop just a stones throw away from the center of town would be a tourist trap or gimmicky, like most other places. Guess again! This place is authentic and serves fresh and local fish that is to die for. While in Maine for the week we tried the crab salad, the yellowfin tuna, and the Hake which all turned out perfectly. Let me start by saying that Ive come here multiple times and the food is reliability good. Takeout is really the move: order online, pickup, and be on your way. The lobster roll is wonderful and all the various grilled cheese varieties are great.Service, as you can probably see if you scroll reviews, is a work in progress. Note that I never rate places on service, which you can verify from my profile, but Ive been here enough that Im pretty confident. I dont know whats my favorite: the fact that I always add avocado, get charged for it, and never receive avocado. Or, maybe, its the time that we arrived and asked for a table but told there was a ten minute wait so we should go for a walk, put our names down, walked to the end of the block and back only to discover that it was now a thirty minute wait as theyd given away our table after five minutes. Then to be told Im sorry I just cant hold tables, with sufficient condescension as if thats how wait lists work and Im from another country and asked and asked her to explain it with her slow voice. Or, the glorious fact that theyre the only restaurant in Bar Harbor that wont let you use the restroom *even if youre dining with them*.
