Great experience and highly recommended! Eric and Mary were great - very knowledgable about the wine and just super friendly in general to chat with. The wine tasting is priced well and the wines taste great. Some favorites to try are: Riesling and Chardonnay for whites and Sangiovese for red. The Reserve Blueberry is good too. The outdoor tasting atmosphere is very peaceful and enjoyable.
Normally I wouldnt give over 3 stars for a place that has to entirely purchase juice to create their wine, but they do a very good job. They have 4 white, 4 red, 4 fruit wines (3 were sold out), and one cider. You get 6 samples per tasting so Debbie and I able to try everything. I honestly liked everything thing I tasted with the possible exception of the cider, which was a apple/blueberry combination and was ok but seemed a little off to me. None of the wines were real dry and very smooth. The only really sweet wine was the blueberry, which we expected. Their tasting room is in a pretty nice converted barn and they have other local items for sale also. Anyway its well worth the visit and unless you only like very dry wines youll certainly find a wine you like here.
My family came here to do a tasting in mid-July and had a wonderful experience The staff were all friendly, attentive, and so accommodating toward our infant daughter that accompanied us. Among the four of us that did tastings, we tried every wine and didnt find a single bad one. One of the best wineries Ive been to.
The silent partner is excellent. Enjoyed the wine tasting. Can honestly say we have been to many wineries and this is the one that we both like the most wines. Your friends from south Carolina
I would give no stars if I could, we showed up a half hour before they closed, understood that the tastings were over, but we figured we could finish a glass before they close. We met with a guy that was willing to let us have a glass but we had to sit outside (not a problem)when we went to order we were immediately and rudely turned away without an option even enjoy our glass while standing inside. If you go, show up two hrs early I would hate to inconvenience this place.
When in Bar Harbor you want some diversions to enjoy your vacation and Bar Harbor Cellars Winery offers just that. While they have a few rows of vines, the grapes are not grown at the Winery. The winery offers a very nice atmosphere to sip some of their wines. I believe connoisseurs will find the wines come up short. One irritant is check out where the line can be very long and disappointingly slow. Staff and servers were pleasant.
Was very surprised of the quality of the wines. Didnt expect that at all. You could tell that the owner loves his winery and customers. He was awesome.
Absolutely wonderful place. I recommend everyone getting a tasting here. My Girlfriend and I were blown away by the experience. I also have to say Eric was great and made us feel like we were at home. Recommended for sure.
Stopped to try a tasting and were delightfully treated to some wonderful Maine wines. Eric and the others took great care of us explaining each bottle we tasted, even adding some of their own tricks about making the wines be the hit of a party. Wishing we drove so we could take more home with us.
Eric and the other servers really made me feel at home with an incredible tasting. Wines were excellent, and they had a wide enough variety to satisfy any pallette. Really enjoyed talking wine with them! Went home with 3 wines!
Amazing service and wine. Best experience at a winery
Decent selection. Prices good. Service ok
Had a great time. Enjoyed the tasting outside and a glass afterwards in the shadeE while sitting in an Adirondack chair. Eric knowledgable and very helpful. The big plus is they are dog friendly. Our dog loved the bowl of water and pupperoni treats
I sampled each of their red wines. They all had major faults. Some of the worst I’ve experienced. And the finish lingered, but not in a positive way. This wine shouldn’t be served in my opinion. I tossed each of my samples in the provided bucket after taking a taste.
The seating was poor---just a rickety picnic table that was entirely too low for my rickety knees. And it needed more shade. But the wine was good and the sommelier was on top of his game.
Such a lovely spot with the nicest servers.
Every wine I tasted was super tasty, none too sweet, and Paul was very knowledgeable and fun during our tasting. cant recommend enough honestly
Hands down one of the most fun and personal wine tastings I’ve ever had. My boyfriend and I stopped in for an afternoon tasting and had the best time. Unique wines, wonderful experience all around. Eric is the best wine connoisseur; he is somehow able to convey everything you need to know about a specific wine without biasing you before you taste. He’s so friendly and truly made our experience incredibly fun and personal.
Great service, got some blueberry goodies
Great place and good wine! The wine tastings are 6/$6 and the selection is nice with some specialty types like Blueberry and apple. The individuals providing the wine tastings were very informative and personable - a very nice experience on our vacation. The winery itself also has souvenirs and chocolate!! If you have some time, I would definitely make the effort to stop in!
This was a great experience made even better by our Server Eric. The wines were very good, but Eric brought our time here to a different level. We hope they know what an incredible employee he is and how well he represents the wine and the company. We definitely recommend you try Bar Harbor Cellars and ask for Eric if hes available.
Fantastic, great place to relax
The blueberry wine is the best I have ever had! Great service! I live in Ohio. I’ve visited a couple times. I get cases shipped to me. Everyone I have ever dealt with is super kind!
Lots of variety in wines, great time!
Being on the premises here was the worst part of our group’s vacation in Bar Harbor. The host was extremely obnoxious and had no sense of the fact that I was with a group ready to spend a lot of money at the establishment. I also wanted to bring wine to my parents but I couldn’t bring myself to terms with making a purchase based on the horrendous behavior.“We’re short staffed and it’s busy and because of covid i can’t seat anyone in such close groups.” I hope someone sees this post and takes appropriate action to remedy the situation - ensuring proper safety protocols should not equate to rude and obnoxious behavior to customers.
It was a very disappointing day! I thought that it would be fun to bring a couple of friends to do a wine tasting. Because it isn’t close to where we live, I checked the website to make sure that they would be open. We drove 1 hour 45 minutes to discover that because it might rain, they would not be open. It was not raining. There was another car in the parking lot and they had already waited twenty minutes in hopes that someone would open up. Before we left two other cars pulled in. There was 3 1/2 hours of my day that I cant get back. Needless to say…. Not worth the trip.
Great price for the tastings and some really great selections. Staff was excellent. Cant wait to come back
I went here for the wine tasting. The wine here is very good, our waitor was very charismatic and helpful, but the wait was just absurd. Stood around for about an hour and fifteen minutes before we were called
Awesome- Eric is fantastic...ask him about his grilled cheese. The wine is great too!
Great experience and staff. Joel was awesome! Very knowledgeable and a great conversationalist. Definitely recommend going if you are in the area. Start with a tasting of six for six dollars, then go to Sweet Peas and get either the steak sandwich or the harvest. Great day! Thanks Joel!
Told it would be 25-30 minutes, waited for over an hour with multiple groups going in ahead of us. They don’t seem to know how to run a tasting room. Too bad.
Sweet Pea Cafe review: Amazing! Our waiter was so friendly and accommodating. Food was phenomenal and it was a quaint and cute atmosphere. I was sad to hear that they’re closing for season tomorrow, but we’re so grateful they were open for us today! I highly recommend.Cellar review: We did the wine tasting with a manager who was a little bit standoffish. With every wine glass, he poured **significantly** less wine. Very odd. Not personable at all. If it wasn’t for the great service at Sweet Pea Cafe, this would be a 2 star review.
Website says they are open. So does google and their facebook page. Drove all the way here today from the Lucerene Inn for our 1 year wedding anniversary to find that they are closed for the season. No sign on the door. Nothing. A friendly barista from the cafe next door told us that they closed about 2, maybe 3 weeks ago, despite the website saying that the tastings are offered until October 31st. This lack of communication and planning is ridiculous and unacceptable.
Visited the outside wine tasting area. Which was tables that were so close together you wondered why in such a large area the tables were about two feet apart.Social distancing completely ignored, Then to top it off each table had a spittoon on them to spit out the wines you were tasting. as you can guess we immediately stood up and left that place as fast as possible.Scary imagine what they were doing that you could not see.
Good wine love the atmosphere will come back if ever here again
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff!! They had great prices for the wine tasting with lots of options. I will definitely stop here again when I go back to Maine.
Wonderful winery and superb staff! Joel was so friendly and answered all of our questions, and Eric walked us through an amazing tasting. Not only was Eric very knowledgeable about the wine, but he was also so witty and personable! Can’t wait to go back the next time we are on MDI. Would recommend to anyone and everyone
I am not a wine person at but got dragged here by my GF. When we walked in we were greeted by Eric and after the first 30 sec talking with him I knew it was going to be fun. Eric was so knowledgeable, entertaining, personable and really cared about us and what we liked and what we were looking for. He gave us his honest opinions on everything from the wine to other local establishments in the area. If you make the trip to bar harbor you NEED to go see Eric at Bar Harbor Cellars and you will not be disappointed. We will be back next year for sure and maybe by then I’ll actually enjoy wine a bit more.
Went in for a wine tasting, left with a smile and a box full of wine bottles! Joel was smart, witty and wicked good at describing the different flavors and notes in each wine! A bit of wine served with a great sense of humor! Highly recommend!
Wine tasting was quite fun! Our guide was knowledgeable and conversational. We were given a few extra tastes too. Before the tasting, we had lunch at Sweet Pea, which was super delicious. Prosciutto pizza and garden salad topped with pumpkin seeds, pickled onions, and fresh summer vegetables.
My friend Abby and I went last weekend on the way to Acadia and had a great wine tasting experience with Eric! He is super knowledgable about his wines, he let us in on some tips about the area, and he definitely has a passion for what he does. I left with two delicious bottles and plan to stop by again the next time Im in the area. Thank you, Eric!
It was a shockingly good experience! We sampled 6 wines for $6. All the wines we tasted were delicious, - especially Ripasso Valpolicella. The person who was running the tasting was very knowable of the process and quite informative of the produce. Overall, we spent relaxing couple hours. We ended up buying 2 bottles of wine. They sell wine, chocolate, jams, gifts, etc. Very reasonable on prices. It is definitely a place to check out.
This is a lovely place to visit to taste the local wines. The folks who work here are very nice and provided a lovely afternoon to learn about the local wines and area. We bought an apple wine that we later ate with cheese.4 Stars - Really good and wouldnt mind returning
Excellent customer service and wine selection. Really enjoyed the red varieties of wine. Joel is super cool and knowledgeable.
My husband and I had the most awesome experience here while visiting from Florida! The wine tasting was soo beautifully led by Eric who did an impressive job going over all the details,Christina was also super sweet! Then we went next door to the Sweet Pea Cafe for a delicious lunch, steak sandwich was delicious!!Super friendly people, thank you!
Great variety of wines, excellent service, nice location.
Nice assortment of red & white wines along with sweet dessert wines. Our host Mikey was engaging and entertaining, as well as generous with a few extra pours. Also very knowledgeable about the craft beer scene
Must visit! This was one of our best experiences in the Bar Harbor area. Kassi was such a great hostess. Beautiful tasting room and delicious fruit wines. 2 thumbs way up!!
If you are looking to try some fruity and sweet wines, this place is awesome! Kassi was very knowledgeable and attentive. My personal favorites were the Apple blend, Black current & Apple, and the Cranberry. Prices werent bad at all, and $5 for 6 tastings makes it worth the stop.
Freindly, informative, beautiful settings wonderful selection 👌
Great visit. Lots of variety. Lots of area used product to make mixed batches of wine. Definitely recommend for a small batch winery.
Dinner at the cafe was very good. My husband said the scallops were the best he had ever had. I also enjoyed the salmon with polenta. We were not very impressed with the spare ribs. I would recommend a reservation. We made one for 2 and still had to wait about 20 minutes for our table.
Nice winery with wine tasting available, 6 for $6 plus cider. Staff was very friendly. Nice selection of fruit wines and the the building has a warm barn style.
This is the worst customer service, I have even seen. The guy in the wine tasting section saw me come in and then I went on to selecting the wine. Midway he just switches the light off and starts walking out. I ask him whats up and he just says the cash register is closed. The person is extremely rude.Ironic how such a person is running a winery. Worst experience in all my travel across Maine.
Their Blueberry wine is the best I have ever tasted! If only available in Canada.
An ok place. Service was slow, wine was so-so and it was not cheap.
Been to lots of wine tastings and typically u get a lot of info on the wine the making etc not here just pour and on to someone else. Good wine especially the sweet fruit based wines
I went here with friends while on vacation for a few tastings. We had an awesome time - friendly, knowledgeable staff and wonderful atmosphere. Wish Bar Harbor was closer to PA!!
Delicious! I had the crispy polenta with Salmon and it was amazing, my husband had a pizza and that was good but my salmon was better. The service was excellent, will be back again.
Poor customer service and unfriendly staff. Prepare to be treated poorly and spend big dollars for wines that are not that unique.
Wonderful winery, there staff explained everything well and the pizza was amazing. Make the trip if youre in bar harbor
There is an amazing little Farm to Table Restaurant behind the winery :) we Luv It
The pizza is on point! Neapolitan style thats even better than whats available in NYC!If there is a burger special, go for it! Its solid!
Stopped in for a quick tasting (5 dollars) and to grab a bottle of their blueberry wine for my wife. We got it a few years ago during our last Acadia visit and she loved it.The tasting is 6 selections, and the pours are on the smaller side but everything we tried was great. Maybe due to our kids driving us nuts earlier. I tried riesling and the syrah, both of which were serviceable. Their desert wine, however, is where its at. Together we tried all but one of them, and each one was as good as the last, with the standout being their ice wine, which was amazing. If it wasnt $50 per a bottle and we werent cheapasses, we probably would have bought a bottle. I could imagine it pairing incredibly well with a cold slice of blueberry cheesecake. The staff was prompt, informative, friendly, and willing to substitute a selection with something else when my wife didnt like one of her picks. The chocolate room has some excellent locally sourced chocolates. My daughter picked some chocolate covered blueberries that were pricy but incredible. Even if you dont like wine, the blueberries are worth a visit. We also tried truffles made with wine, raspberries, and semi sweet chocolate which were great.
Great place fun time tasting the wines
Friendly and knowledgable staff aided in choosing one if their great wines.
The wines were very good.
This is the worse wine I have ever drank. We through 2 bottles away. 1 was the Apple wine and the other a Riesling. Should have done the tasting. I had know idea wine could be so bad. Never again.
Look forward to visiting!
Awesome restaurant.
Awesome!
