Wow - outstanding service! Got stuck on the top of Cadillac mountain! Wes came to tow, and then went out of the way to make sure my family got to a hotel safely when no one else was available to help! The next day, Wes checked on us to make sure we were all fine. Very trustworthy and caring person and a true professional.
I recall that the mechanic at the time seemed okay and able to handle changing tires, but the owner lost it when I simply asked to see where the tires were wearing down. I think he thought I was questioning his integrity (guilty conscience maybe), and so he became very threatening, so I left without getting the work done and have not returned!
I was in a motorcycle accident and ended up in the hospital. I asked the police officer at the scene of the accident to have my bike delivered 1/4 miles to my campsite. Instead the towing company took the bike to there shop. What they charged to tow and store my bike was rediculois. $475 for the tow and storage for 4 days. Since I was still in the hospital they even charged my 80 year old dad $50 to load the bike in the trailer for him. Complete price gougers
They were great, thank you all at Island Towing, especially the the tow truck driver.
Amazing garage. These boys go to work for you. Outstanding service, reasonable procedures labor.
They were there when they said and were nice n easy to deal with. N they had to pull the car I was getting towed unable to get neutral n didnt seem to hurts the car at all. Definitely recommend.
These guys are always great! Got a quick inspection done. They offer open inspections from 8-9am. I used to get all of my work done there on my old cars, but I have a new one now serviced at the dealership, under warranty.
A large stone flew off a dump truck in Bass Harbor and smashed through the grill of our car, causing substantial damage in the engine compartment. AAA sent Island Towing out to tow our car to a repair facility in Ellsworth. The driver was friendly and professional, but due to COVID-19 restrictions informed us that we would be unable to accommodate us as passengers. Wish AAA had informed us of that!Fortunately for us, we called the local cab driver and she was available and arrived quickly. The repair facility was around 20 miles from where the incident had occurred, and Island Towing had dropped our car off at the repair facility and moved on to their next call prior to our arrival. So thanks to Island Towing.
We’re from out of state and had a screw in our tire. We pulled into there location and the gentleman was very nice and fixed the tire and out in less than 10 minutes. I would recommend this shop to everyone looking for help.
Awesome and very professional!
Always nice to get your car done right the first time.Very reasonable rates, great place!
Got back from hiking North Ridge Trail up and down Cadillac Mtn to a flat tire at about 6pm on a Sunday. OnStar contacted Island Towing and they were there at 7pm (35 minutes after they were called). I was parked at a tough angle in dirt and the tech was awesome. He had us on the road by 7:30. Highly recommend these guys.
This by far is the best place Ive ever used for any kind of car trouble. I would recommend this garage over any other Ive been to so far! They are all kind courteous and theyre not out to just rip you off this receives an A+ Plus in my book.
Very helpful at this shop .We are local and this is our go to for repairs
Couldnt be more happy with their quick response and service. Eased our fears and took care of our needs within 45min of calling them.
Always great service
Reasonably priced. Great work!
Thanks Les, great to see you as always❤
Great service, knowledgeable staff, and was treated like family.
While camping nearby, we found a long screw stuck in a tire and brought the car to this shop to get it fixed.Donny took us in right away, was very friendly and professional, and handled it in 15 minutes. The price was very reasonable. Based on our experience, Id recommend this repair shop.
The absolute best company and people. They did a great job and helped me out of a difficult situation. I was 1200 miles from home and had to leave Bar Harbor by the weekend. Island Towing was able to find a hard-to-find rim, a Cooper tire not sold in that area, fixed the hubcap and didnt charge an arm & leg. They are the best. I wish I hadnt clobbered that curb, bent the rim and destroyed my tire, but Im happy to have met Les and his workers who made it possible to get back home on time.
Horrible . This place appears to have untrained mechanics that are in way over their head and literally do not know enough to do their job. After speaking with other garages and checking the price of Parts myself I feel that I have been seriously ripped off. The same vehicle had to go back like 4 times with the same problem. Every time they charged me and told me it was fixed. Every time it was not fixed and the exact same problem was still there. They tried to say they test drove it but theres no way on Earth they could have possibly had a positive test drive with the existing problem. Over 6 weeks later and half a dozen tries it finally was repaired. My other vehicle unfortunately was broken at the same time and I brought it to them before I knew how incompetent they were. Today a different mechanic told me they did the job incorrectly and it ruined my transmission. Im going to do you all a big favor when I tell you to go somewhere else. Run far away from this nightmare.
Awesome place with amazing service!!!
We had driven to Bar Harbor from Wisconsin. On our third day there, our car died (in the one-lane construction no less). We called Les at Island Towing and he was there within an hour. He told us when he got there that he thought it was the fuel pump (which it was). He told us that his shop was really busy and he wouldnt be able to get us in for a couple days.. we were trying to head out of town and wanted to leave as soon as possible. So Les towed us to a different shop in town.Les was one of the nicest people we met on the east coast. He shared some info about local lobstering, restaurant recommendations and more. Once the other auto shop confirmed it was the fuel pump and gave us a price, we called Les to get a second opinion. He exhausted all efforts to try to get us the part we needed, in a shorter time frame. It turns out, he was unable to, but we appreciated all the time he spent looking into it and calling around to part stores and Ford. He was a real straight shooter. He was very professional and got us out of a tight spot when we broke down. Very reasonable price for the tow.No one hopes to have to use a towing company while on vacation, but if the need arises, call Les.
Had a tire with a leak while on vacation so stopped at Island Towing & auto repair. They found the metal in the tire & made a very quick repair. Honest price & quick friendly service earns them 5 stars!!
My husband and I went on vacation in Swans Island, ME. This was great, but while on vacation our car had trouble. While other mechanics shied away from trying to tow us from the island to the mainland to help us to get the repairs we needed, Les was phenomenal trying to find a reservation on a ferry to get us back to the mainland and our car repaired. Use this repair shop if you have a chance!! I can not say enough good things about them!
Island Towing and auto repair is one of those rare diamonds in the rough. I locked myself out of my truck and 15 minutes later all was well. The next day they checked out a soft check-engine code and charged me nothing. Ask Les the owner about his new Harley. Check out all the Harley models he built in the front office. Wow!!! Stop by just to see the custom models!!!
Our rvs starter died on a Friday in northeast harbor. After several calls with no one willing to help I called Island towing. Donny came out, determined that it was in fact the starter and on Saturday drove to Ellsworth bought a new starter drove back to northeast harbor and installed it in twenty minutes. A combination of professionalism, knowhow and caring
Had a flat tire on my truck today. Island Towing was awesome - arrived sooner than expected, was friendly, courteous, and quick. Thank you so much!!
This is a family owned business, theyre honest and friendly. (I know they are honest with their prices because I know a bit about vehicle repair.) I just moved to the Island (from Bangor originally); Island Motors is my new go-to repair place.
Its going to be a lengthy review, if you just want to know about their service, its 5 out of 5 stars and 10 out of 10 stars!!! I have a lot to be grateful for Les and his crew in Island towing & repair. They have compassion for my situation and they were kind, professional and fun! I came to Acadia National Park on a road trip by myself without particular travel plans, but definitely didnt plan to see my car break down (but thank God its not in the middle of nowhere). What made it worse was its Columbus day so a lot of places were closed and I had to use AT&T roaming to make phone calls to find a local towing service. Called for towing and the price was very reasonable (actually may be in the good range). The tow truck came in a good timing and my car was on the tow truck in a very short time. Even though the crews were about to finish up and leave for the day, they still took a quick drive to see if it can be fixed easily. It turned out to be a transmission issue the next day. The owner couldnt help me right away because the calendar was fully booked. However, understand how badly I had to visit my relatives on NJ, he called his uncle, who has years of experience in auto repairing to help. The next day, uncle Earl came very early to assess my car to see if its worth it to fix the car. Then they found and ordered an used transmission to install. Not only that, Les even lend me a car so I could still go to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor and places so my mind could be off the troubles I was facing and still get to see the places. They were supposed to close at 5pm, but uncle Earl, with some assistance, stayed to finish installing the transmission. They asked me to stay for another night so they can double check with my car next morning, since I have a long way and they would feel better knowing my car is going to take good care of me. They did found more problem and fixed them before sending me off the road. I wholeheartedly recommend Island towing & repair if you need towing (24 hrs) repair in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park area!!! It was unfortunate that my car broke down, Thank you Les, you and your team!
They dont repair, at least that ssds what was y oi old to me .
We broke down on vacation the second day and called island towing to get our car. We ended up needing a rental car that they rented to use for the rest of our trip. Les the owner went above and beyond to help us make the rest of our trip memorable. As out of towners we were worried rates would be high and that was not the case with them they were very reasonable. Cant say enough good things about Island Towing.
I was on vacation in Bar Harbor and my car started shaking vilently. I called around for an auto mechanic but it was Saturday of Memorial Day weekend so no one was open. A Local said Island Auto Repair was a good shop so we called and by chance they were open. Les diagnosed and fixed my car in less than an hour. What could have been a long, drawn out process was the quickest, most pleasant experience with an auto repair shop Ive ever had. I am so thankful and grateful for Les and his team. THANK YOU!!!!
On our last stop in Arcadia National Park our van broke down on an extremely busy day (bumper to bumper for miles). We had to shuttle back to Bar Harbor to get cell service. We called Island Towing based off google reviews. They were as advertised.Les had someone pick us up in downtown Bar Harbor, take us in to the park, tow our van, drop us off back off in town to enjoy the town while they diagnose the problem. Our car was fixed within an hour and a half. We didn’t lose a day or much time at all on our 10 day East Coast Trip with a three and five year old. Customer Service was excellent and we couldn’t be more thankful.
Honest and quick and very very nice. I will be bringing my car troubles to them in the future. :)
We arrived in Maine from vermont for vacation on the first day, to find we had oil leaking from our car ...BAD! Went thru 3 bottles just on the trip up, leaving oil all along the way.Didnt know what to do because it was late Friday night and most places are closed for the weekend....plus we are not the richest people on the planet and were worried about the price. We called Island towing on Friday night and they got us in first thing Saturday...something they dont usually do.Not only were they super nice, they were fair and professional. They even let us borrow the dealers car so we wouldnt be stuck waiting while the gasket and oil pan were replaced..which we found out had many holes in them from construction on our roads back in vermont ...plus they even showed us the old oil pan which looked like it had been thru WW3...I would highly recommend these guys and if we ever get into trouble again.. this will be the first place we go!!Thank you so much!!!
Fast, courteous professional service!
Les is amazing! Island towing goes above and beyond. Very friendly and affordable. Highly recommend!!!!!!!
Are they really honest? I took my 2008 car there for an inspection and a problem with the parking brake. Actually I never use the parking brake. But they told me my car couldn’t pass the inspection without fixing the parking brake, and all the parking brake cables needed to be replaced. I told them one rear cable was just replaced last year. A few hours later, they called me and told me that my car passed inspection and the parking brake was fixed without replacing the cables. I was told that a mechanic took 2.5 hours to clean and adjust the parking brake and that the parking brake was working, not perfectly, but could pass the inspection. So I drove my car back that afternoon and was charged $147.50 for the labor and $12.5 for inspection, $160 in total. However, when I tested the parking brake later that afternoon, I found the parking brake didn’t work at all, exactly same as before. I went there next morning and asked the mechanic. He said it worked when he tested in the shop. When I asked him to repair it again, he said the parking brake shoes needed to be replaced and would cost about $120 for the parts. Plus labor, they would probably charge me another $200 or more. I didn’t let them replace. So I think I paid $160 just for an inspection.
