An easy place to do business an a industry were employees are so often short with non-contracters. The person at the window quickly and efficiently answered all of my questions about the difference between products and seemed happy to do so. I ordered a yard of mulch and it was promptly loaded in my truck with the cool expertise of a true smooth operator. Prices were fair for the area and service was impeccable.

Easy ordering and delivery was really fast. They arrived on time and didnt keep me waiting. We had a very narrow area to dump the dirt, but the driver was a pro. The yardage calculator was also really useful! Im amazed at how easy everything was and the the soil is first-rate. If I ever needed more soil, Id go to them again.

The Drive thru service is absolutely brilliant just look for the signs that tell you where to gogoing there was the most painless experience.all of the staff were super friendly and efficient, the prices are great, and the products they sell are superb quality.in and out with a truckbed loaded up with sand in less than 10 minutes. I didnt even have to get out of the truck!I highly recommend this place and it seems to be run by good people

I came in not knowing much about mulch or soil but thanks to them I am confident enough to start my garden beds. I would definitely recommend you to stop pass for all your gardening needs.

If you are a landscaper like me there is no other place in town like this, although I really like the tan bark mulch they have I wish it would last longer but I realize that if you use this kind of mulch it will compost down to something organic that the plants can actually use, so that is what I get and know that I am doing the best for my landscape, I also like the composed top soil . Good place with friendly service .

I was unhappy with the product I received, but Hollins Organics has really stepped up and worked to solve my problem. They showed enormous integrity, even coming out to my property to see what was going on and working to resolve my issues.

Ordered 3 yards of Leafgro Soil which is what the website and person answering the phone suggested for use in my raised beds. Trust me you dont want this in your garden. Probably just fine for fill dirt but thats it. Soil is almost entirely clay which is a nightmare for growing vegetables in. Ill end up spending hundreds more on amending this soil to get it to a useable state.Update: Company came out to check on the quality of the soil they delivered and provided some extra compost to help amend soil.

Really good products, and friendly folks at the locations Ive visited. Falls Road is most conveinent if you live in Central / North / Northeast Baltimore.

Hollins Organic is a great place to buy mulch, soil, compost in bulk and in bags. The staff is professional and friendly. They also have other services like roll-off service, tractor trailer delivery, and single axle delivery. Theyre a hidden gem in the Baltimore area.

Update, about a week later:Tyler Hollins called me after my initial review was posted. He and his father, the president of Hollins Organic Products, came out to see me and follow up on my concerns. I dug down past the level where Ive been able to ameliorate the sand/clay compositon of what the Leafgro mix I ordered to show them what it was like.Mr. Hollins (the elder) told me that they get their topsoil when developers strip all toilsoil from sites to be developed, and sometimes its just all clay because that was the topsoil condition where they got it. The soil is not sterilized so may contain some seeds. Mine may as well have been seeded in some sort of agricultural setting - thicker with weeds than my yard, which is saying something, and with weeds that never grew here before this dirt came. Leafgro, he said, may be sterilized by the temperatures it reaches while composting (which I suspect is the case - Ive never heard of this happening with leafgro alone), but that they dont sterilize the soil because it takes all nutrients out. Well. This wasnt AT ALL clear from the product description on the website, which currently reads:Our leafgro Soil is a special blend of our quality screened Top Soil and Leafgro to produce a high quality blend for planting and lawn use. It is our premium soil mix which provides all the organics you will need for your gardening needs.... when, as another reviewer on Yelp pointed out, you do not want this in your garden if what happened to me is a possibility. For fill, sure. Not for growing. Maybe for a lawn if you dont care what youre mowing (you probably shouldnt) or if you spread invasive plants (you probably should).To my mind, it is absolutely their responsibility to tell you both that the topsoil may be all clay, and to tell you that it may also be chock full of seeds.The Hollinses offered to refund my payment, to update their website to make it less misleading, and to help me remove the old soil and replace it with something less problematic at the end of the growing season. I told them they didnt have to do all that, but they insisted, and I reiterated that clarity to future customers was my priority - gardeners have got to stick together, especially in an area rife with folks trying to make bay safe gardens full of native plants. Well, I got the check today, so Im updating this, but the website remains unchanged. When it changes, Ill feel better - and update this again. I could really use the help getting soil in and out to fix this, and appreciate that offer, but honestly I feel weird about that on top of other stuff - or without the truth in advertising.Original Review:Worst decision I have ever made as a gardener: ordering soil for my raised beds from Hollins.In the two years since, the incredible quantity of invasive weeds that have dominated my beds have struck our entire neighborhood with awe. Im not sure Ill ever be able to undo the damage.Additionally, my leafgrow soil blend turned out to be almost entirely clay and sand with no discernable sign of compost.Do not do business with these folks.

My experience with Hollins is always superb. Upon arrival I was greeted by a very delightful young lady who was very helpful with what amount of product I can fit on my F250. After a while, it can get a little frustrating considering Im new to the Landscaping/Gardening world. But at Hollins everyone is a Mulch Professional!! I purchased compost from two different places this past fall. I purchased all remaining compost from Chesapeake Compost Works (5 yds), as they stopped producing compost for the year to move to a new facility. It was enough to topdress my back yard. I then ordered 5 more yards (leafgro) from Hollins the following weekend, to topdress my front and side yards. The results between my back yard and front/side yards is like night and day. My back yard has zero weeds this spring. My front and side yards are literally covered in every type of winter weed found in Maryland. Ive spent 20 hours pulling weeds, and Im only about halfway through. The choice is yours, but thought Id share my experience.
