I went in with an intention to just try a few guitars, but I left the shop a satisfied new Fender owner. Adam was very friendly and helpful, 10/10 would recommend Brothers to any music lover. Would love to revisit anytime.
Baltimore City is lucky to have this music store within its boundaries. Ive been shopping here since they opened their doors, and theyre always friendly and helpful. The owners are fantastic guys who go above and beyond when it comes to customer service.Case in point: I had placed an online order, but when I came to pick it up, there was a bit of confusion. Turns out they had an incorrect (lower) price on their site, but they honored that price even though I offered to add the difference (I tried to insist, but they werent having it!). Later, I discovered they ate more than just a few dollars. Talk about great customer service. Almost unheard of nowadays. I shop local when I can, so its refreshing to have a gear source like Brothers in the city!
One of the best guitar services I’ve ever received. Went in for to get my guitar restrung and left it there for a little while, they called me up with advices on what they can do to make my guitar sound better. Got my guitar back in sparkling new condition, sounding better than ever. I’m not a pro at the guitar and even I can tell just how much better my guitar sounds and how much easier it is to jam for hours now. Best thing is, they price extremely fair. If you need any work done on your guitar, I would highly recommend these fellas. Impeccable customer service and communication. Mighty fine work done and you get to support a local business. Would give more stars if I could!
Great shop. Helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. Pretty good inventory of instruments on hand. Ill definitely be back
Selling clearly used instruments at nearly new prices. Dont bother going here, they have no Covid-19 regulations for people playing their display instruments. Very sad. I would suggest going somewhere else.
Friendly service. Good spot for the beginner musician.
Very chill, and helpful. Check em out. Judy knows her stuff.
Very Friendly. Great prices.
Super friendly staff who were open to jam. Space is cozy. There are some really niche and cool modulators and other electronics here with a staff who get a warm good sound out of them. Nickis a fun guitar guy. The other staff member is a woman who produces and DJs so she can identify the components of any electronic music track she hears--even what it was made with. Pretty awesome people.
I needed to fly in from out of state for a wedding I was singing in, and needed to rent a guitar. Ian emailed me back immediately, rented me a great guitar at a great price, and was just all around awesome. Nice small local shop with friendly faces. Couldn’t recommend them more!!!
Outstanding customer service, I needed to pick up five items and they had everything I needed in stock.
Great place, great people
We love Brothers Music. The owners and employees are all super nice and knowledgeable about the instruments and gear they sell. We often accidentally sit around for at least an hour chatting whenever we stop by. When we launched our pedal-making business, Brothers reached out to us and was the first to carry our flagship fuzz, the Fluid Karma. Brothers is a welcoming space for music lovers in the heart of Baltimore and is a great member and supporter of the local Baltimore arts community.
Stopped by a couple weeks ago, on a total whim, in between studio sessions. They had the exact mallets we needed, plus a super affordable drum key. Well lit. Clean. Positive vibe. Clerk girl was courteous and pleasant. Great variety of gear in such a tight space, and at various price points. I think this is due to a mix of new and used. Didnt look too closely but felt like something for everyone (which is exactly what you want in a neighborhood music shop). Also, genuinely supports local businesses with their posters, cork peg board, and register displays. We are based in Atlanta but if I lived local I would totally stop in regularly to see whats on.
Great local shop in the city that stocks some quality gear like Walrus Pedals and Peavey Classic amps. The staff is very friendly and the prices are competitive with any other spot.
This place knows their instruments! Our son goes to School of Rock, and we are not experts. Brothers took extra time to guide us to the right guitar, and also has tuned and repaired for us. We appreciate having such a great group of experts having our back.
Super knowledgable staff. Excellent prices. There is nothing better than a local music store in the center of the city that knows their gear and is incredibly friendly in the process. Ian and Brian (the Brothers) are killer awesome and Amber is great too!
I went there to try to figure out what cables and synth would be best for my studio, the nice woman that works there was very knowledgeable and helped me decide what i needed. i was invited to play with the gear they had and had a lot of fun! they have so many groove boxes! i plan to come here for most of my music equipment!
Awesome small shop with a well-curated selection of instruments and accessories at great prices! If they dont carry it, they can order it for you (spend your money here, not at some online warehouse store). Friendly staff who care about music and the community!
SO much stuff in such a small place. They even match other places prices. Highly recommend!
My #1 choice for getting things like strings and cables locally. They also have a wide selection of amps and have added some really great guitars as of late. The synth/keyboard selection turns over often, so its good to keep checking in if youre interested in those. I believe they have a variety of drumsticks and heads in stock as well. Very chill and personable staff.
Good selection of instruments, accessories, and essentials. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Great addition to the city!
Im sure the owners are very nice people as one review said. Im also sure its cool to support local music stores, which one reviewer said, while also admitting that they had never actually been inside. I actually made the trip for that reason too - because I like to support local shops. However - I draw the line at icy, vacant, non-interested 20-somethings that dont have time for me even though I was the ONLY person in the store (and folks, it should have been jammed right before Christmas: Thursday, December 21st at 1pm).I came in and told the girl what I was looking for - I was new in town, booked a last minute gig for Christmas Eve and needed a SMALL PA system that had reverb OR a guitar amp that could accommodate both an acoustic guitar and a microphone. I also needed a microphone stand, music stand, guitar strings, tuner, picks, etc. Probably a $400 sale and I was READY TO BUY.I tried to engage her with a few easy questions, but unfortunately, she more interested in the mix she was listening to than helping me.Not finding a PA or an Amp that was suitable, I asked about Mic stands and she suggested that I get a straight one, apparently never hearing of a telescoping boom mic that I asked about. When I pointed one out, she said, those are for drums as if I didnt get it. I truly felt like I was in the twilight zone and decided to leave without even bothering to buy so much as strings or picks here.Im sad by this experience because Im new to Baltimore and like to support the local people. However this experience is exactly why Amazon is going to put them out of business - if I want non-customer service, I only need to sit on my sofa and order from the comfort of my own home. One last thing - This place is above a venue called REVERB and when I asked it, the girl said, (and I quote), its a separate business to us, connected only by architecture and nothing else.Yeah. I get it.
Cool little place in Charles Village! Despite its size you can find some pretty cool gear there, including some boutique guitar pedals, synths, and a nice variety of used gear. Staff are very cool and helpful!
This place is great! They have a good selection of gear, their staff is personable, friendly, and knowledgable, and their prices are fair. I came in looking for a new mic and one of their employees (whose name I dont remember) was very patient with me while explaining the nuances and differences in each piece of equipment. Ill be back, for sure!
Owner is VERY rude to the customers, it was appalling. Just ignored and was very condescending. In these reviews as well, he is trashing customers. That is not how to run a business. And while he may ban people from his store online, I advise you to do yourself a favor and just go elsewhere. You would be saving yourself a trip. Also there is only a very small selection of low-quality guitars and basses. There is not a lot at all to choose from.
Brothers Music is awesome, their prices match online stores, and the staff has immense knowledge of the gear. This is the only music store that I enjoy going to.
Ive never actually been here but I practice above it and I think its cool. Support local music shops anyways. Five stars!
A suprising amount of synths for a small guitar shop, and a great pedal selection including walrus, end, etc. Staff is always friendly
Got a little Tanglewood. The gentleman working was friendly. I was concerned about someone being overbearing for I am an inexperienced player and buyer. I did not get this feeling while looking around.I will probably return here for any other purchases like this.
Great little local music shop run by some very nice people. The staff is very knowledgeable and were happy to help with all of my questions.
Warm and cozy music shop with knowledgeable unpretentious staff, owner is extremely passionate about what he does and cares a great deal for the neighborhood and community.
Nice people, small but solid little shop of instruments.
Totally willing to let you try out anything..and the woman who works there knows SO much about synths. Ask her about them!
Yes yes YES
Friendly and knowledgable staff that knows what theyre doing and made me feel comfortable asking questions about gear.
I moved into the area last year and stop by periodically and check stuff out and make small purchases.A good vibe, personable and knowledgeable staff.I bought a Blackstar TVP a few months ago at a fair price and the owner threw in a T-shirt,cords and some picks. My most comfortable weekend shirt😊I appreciate having them in my neighborhood and will always be a customer. This reminds me,time to go pick up some strings.
Awesome-o attraction for all your instrument related needs/awesome-o staff
Great when I needed strings in a pinch. I didnt get a chance to browse much, but they had everything I needed!
So grateful to have a local shop for supplies and affordable instruments
Amber is the best sales associate in the entire world forever and ever amen.
What i love is the community atmosphere of this store. and lots of guitars and extremely loud amplifiers.
Good place. Affordable and local
After standing around for an hour without being asked if I can be helped, with each time I tried to speak to the employee being met with awkward answers (i.e “hey how was your show you told me about?” Her answer; “I play a lot of shows so idk what you’re talking about”, & “I ran into that artist I mentioned and I had to get a picture it was really cool!” her answer; “I’m sure he enjoyed that...” in an icey tone while walking away and still not helping me find an amp)after a few awkward interactions like this I saw an amp that was interesting that I found on my own, but looked weird so I asked if it was an acoustic amp. The employee condascendingly tells me no it’s not an acoustic amp. I tried to engage in friendly banter with the employee multiple times and each time it was extremely awkward. Eventually her condescending icey attitude had me ready to walk out the door even tho I had walked in there with 370$ to buy an amp and trade in mine. I didn’t like the amp, saying I’m not interested in it. the owner was so insulted that I didn’t want to buy the amp, that he said my amp was worthless, then ads “oh well actually no, it’s a keyboard amp. Or no, it’s an acoustic amp anyway so...” after I said I didn’t want it, as if to imply that I was stupid for looking at it in the first place for my electric. and when I said I already asked that question and been shot down, the employee who had condescendingly told me “no that’s not an acoustic amp” when I first pointed it out, lied and said they never said it wasn’t an acoustic amp. This obviously was the point where I had to just walk out of the store. Lies from employees and ego trip from owner. I’m learning what places to avoid here in Baltimore now that I’ve moved here. Such bad attitude. I’m not naming names cuz this isn’t supposed to be petty, cuz I don’t like leaving bad reviews. do better for your remaining customers cuz the other local shops maintain a welcoming warm atmosphere, where yours is icey and awkward.edit; I’m AT LEAST the 3rd reviewer/customer to make note of the icey uncomfortable attitude the employee creates in the store during repeated attempts to have friendly banter about the products, so one could infer for themselves wether I just made that up. Also the owner commenting that I was rude is also a lie, as he was only there for me saying I wasn’t interested in the amp(proving this himself admitting he needed to rely on “another customer” for this info. However I’m not surprised the gentlemen commented, after the owner had caused a scene starting an argument with me over wether I knew the amp was an acoustic amp instead of letting me walk out the door, making things even more awkward). attacking the reviewers character and calling them rude is the call of someone who has clearly lost. I wonder when I was rude and interruptive? Seeing as the owner wasn’t there for any of this, he’s clearly having this relayed from the icey worker. As I’m not the first or even second person to comment on her rudeness, does anyone really think it was me who was interruptive to her? I have more examples of her iceyness; “these korg stands are really cool but last time you told me only dealers can get them. That’s a bummer” “I never said that. Well they aren’t sold commercially but no I never said that” then walks away again without helping. So when was I rude? Was it when I waited for over an hour while the icey worker ignored every attempt at conversation? it’s also worth noting this worker left the store to smoke weed the first time I ever came into the store, and invited me out to join her. Maybe the owner should examine his own employees conduct before lying about something he wasn’t even there for.Oh, and never in a million years would I have considered coming back to this store before I even wrote this review. It’s an uncomfortable awkward place with little knowledge of the products they sell.
I went to purchase a new guitar amp with some pretty simple conditions: 1. Tube amp. 2. Must be loud enough to play shows. 3. Lightweight enough to also be a practice amp and carry around easily. The gentleman points to a Vox 8 inch speaker cab and the TINIEST head Ive ever seen and asked about it. I laughed at him a little and said, well, probably something bigger. He then asked me if I had plugged it in and it might be exactly what Im looking for. I then skeptically had him plug it up and he explained it in the process. Its a new kind of tube. Specially designed speaker Sounds great...blah blah blah...Welp, after playing it for TEN seconds, I instantly knew this man knew what he was talking about. He had a great product and he even knew how to sell me on it. Maybe this is an ad for a Vox amp, but I was really blown away that he didnt try to upsell me on anything. He didnt try to sell me on a speaker cable either as I thought I pretty much had one, but I ended up buying one anyway as I wanted a longer one. A very nice store with a pretty solid selection of stuff for how small they are. I had a great time in the store and it was VERY welcoming. I will definitely be returning. And THANK YOU for the shirt! Im new to Baltimore and I feel like Im wearing my first Baltimore swag now. Anyway. An all around great experience!
Nice small place, nice guitars, staff friendly and knowledgeable.
Buzz-in music shop in a semi-run-down semi-hip part of town. Theyve always had exactly what I need.
Pleasant nice choice of instruments reasonable prices
Fantastic selection of accessories, amps and unique instruments. Friendly staff and clean store.
Good location and cool staff. Shop local
Brothers rules! And James is a babe.
Not alot of drum gear.
The owners are fantastic people!
Got what you need but a little ghetto...
Just as bad as the corporate music stores
They’re fret!
