I RARELY write reviews but I had to do so in this case...If there was an option to give a negative 5 stars I would have done so!I had an appointment on Saturday October 30th @ 12 noon.The staff is not very friendly - let me make that abundantly clear.Charm City Optical has all the “charm” of a late night Baltimore homicide crime scene!I requested a contact lens exam, but they told me I couldn’t get one because “that’s not what you initially requested, and we don’t have the time to set up for a contact lens exam...”I’m 58 years old and have been in a number of establishments over the decades here in Baltimore to get an eye exam and that’s the first time I was ever told something so ridiculous.The same woman told me that my insurance won’t pay for contact lenses because “contact lenses aren’t a medical necessity.”What?!After reiterating that “contact lenses aren’t a medical necessity “ she just left me sitting there...Not one member of the staff listened to my concerns.I usually deal with a great place called Federal Hill Eye Care, but they were closed and my wife was long overdue for an eye exam, so I thought I’d give them a try...That was a HUGE mistake...I will definitely not be returning to “Charm” City Optical!

This was my family and I first time visiting Charm City Optical although I’ve heard great things about Lana and staff, nothing compares to actually Experiencing it for yourself!! My family had the best EXPERIENCE here, all the staff were so professional, patient, helpful and Kind…. The customer service was Excellent!! The best thing about this experience was they treated each one of us as if WE MATTERED and I absolutely Loved our experience!! The owners Lana and her mother are some of the most Humble humans I have ever encountered!! I LOVE it here and my family and I will be back!!! I love the variety of glasses and BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Asia customer service was wonderful and she was very knowledgeable. She explained everything in a way that I could understand with no questions. When I asked a question, she was able to answer the question. I loved how she was with my 7 year old daughter. My daughter even said, mom she was so nice. Dr. Cindy Kasner took the time to explain my eye exam and her concerns. She was wonderful and was very patient with my 7 year old. Tell Asia and Dr Kasner to keep up the great job.

Knowledgeable and friendly!! The staff didnt try to sell or talk me into something I didnt want. They took their time with me and answered all the questions I had. Great selection of frames and the glasses came faster than I expected.. Thanks Lana!! 🤓

I drive more than 3 hours from New York and it’s worth it, always leave with new shades and complete satisfaction. Great work by the whole team there that is seen and felt.

I have been a patient here for YEARS but my last encounters with here have been nothing like i am used to . I recently purchased contact lens for the first time i went through the process and when i damaged one called and was told i have been wearing my trails and that they were EXPIRED ! no one explained this to me at the office and when i was asking the young lady on the phone questions she seemed to get frustrated and hung up on me ! this has VERY happened to me here and it was very surprising but calling back i spoke with SAM who was very professional and helpful with explaining the process and my next steps . today i received a call back from Lana who states she is the supervisor but her actions did not support that . Again i am NEW to the contact world and feel the need it is necessary to ask any and all questions that i need so that i will not repeat the same situation over with walking out with my trials thinking they were real contacts . Lana began to be very short with me, she DID offer me multiple appointments that would fit my schedule but once i started to ask questions it was like she refused to answer or listen she just wanted to make my follow up appointment and get me off the phone . I explained to her my recent encounter and she responded “ well no one should wear their trials that long it says it on the box “ but i did NOT receive a box . and started to talk to me as i was lying . I find that it is everytime i ask questions someone gets upset but when calling a patient it is not always a quick call . After my contact exam and follow up i will no longer be a patient at Charm City Optical !!! but i would like to thank SAM ! and all of the original front desk staff whom have helped me in the past .AFTER SENDING MY REVIEW LANA GAVE ME A CALL BACK TRYING TO EXPLAIN CONTACT THE PROCESS I DO NOT UNDERSTND WHY I HAVE TO LEAVE A REVIEW TO GET THE ANSWERS THAT I NEED ! I KINDLY DISCONNECTED THE CALL AND THIS MAY CAUSE ME BEING DISCHARGED .

Everyone was very helpful and friendly at Charm City Optical. I was a walk in and was in and out with no problem. Special shout out to Asia. She was very patient and helpful in helping me pick my frames. I couldnt see clearly because my eyes were dilated.

Meghan was very attentive to my sense of style I desired for my new frames. She actually picked the perfect pair of frames for my taste and wallet. She was also very thorough professional and genuinely all around just great. I will always ask for her when I return!!!

They are convenient if you need glasses quickly and do not want to wait weeks (if you’re paying out of pocket) but just from my experience some of the staff is rude & acts as if you’re bothering them if you ask a question. I personally saw a blonde hair manager belittle a potential patient & then attempted to start something with me after I suggested the lady go someplace else after they refused her service. It was very unprofessional on both ends. The staff who did assist us was friendly at least.

Had an appointment for my 7 yr old today. Pediatric side was wonderful. Its when I went to pick out glasses that it went down hill. The young lady that was helping me told me I had a copay. The amount of the copay didnt sound right to me so she ask for manager to come explain. I must say the young lady was wonderful. It was the manager from hell that made it a bad experience. She talked down to me and got mad when I said dont talk to me like that. Keep in mind I was there the day before for me and my 16yr. My 16yr eyes are worst than my 7yr old. Yet my 7yr glasses are more expensive than my 16. It just wasnt adding up. Then she said out her mouth I know people fall on hard time and cant afford. I stopped her and said I never said I couldnt afford it. So she got mad and cancel out my daughter order and told me to go elsewhere. She then printed out my prescription. I told her my glasses is already paid for. And she walked away. Never had I been treated like that before. Thank You Lens Craft for filling my daughter order!!!

Absolutely worst service ever. The owner, a woman was incredibly rude when we asked to look at Cartier glasses. She requested our ID, as if we would try to steal the glasses and became condescending and rude when she realized we wanted to try the glasses on to decide which options we wanted to buy at a later date. I have two years of education in ophthalmic dispensing and I fully understand how lens customization works. If I am looking to spend $6,000 on glasses, I deserve the right to shop around. She kept focusing on the cost and was being pushy by trying to scare me that the glasses will not be available later. She even offered layaway, as if I couldnt afford to pay in full at once. The service was horrible and bizarre. Ill head to another authorized Cartier retailer with better customer service, who will give exceptional service.

They have some of the best Cartier Glasses ever. Also there customer service was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Enessa Dru helped me find the perfect glasses. So if you can definitely request her. She was the BEST!!! ❤️❤️❤️

The technician that I had was very professional courteous patient and polite I’ve been coming to Charm City more than 15 years with so much going in Baltimore In the world today my visit today was absolutely stress-free and satisfying.

My appointment was at 5:30pm; however this post is at 6:25pm and I still have not seen the Dr. Professional courtesy would have given me the option of rescheduling upon arrival. Chairs in waiting area are not socially distanced.

Oh my goodness!!! I am very impressed with the service my disabled son and I received today. I had a very hard time locating a facility that accepted my sons insurance. From the time I made the appointment to the reminder call and with todays appointment, everyone was very professional, courteous, friendly and polite. The office was very clean and bright. The eye specialist was awesome with my son and he made my son feel safe during the exam.With this being our first visit, my son and I will be coming back. I will also inform my sons friends moms from his day program about Charm City Optical.Thank you so much for a great first time experience.

After I figured out the process on how customers come in, its a pretty good process. You pull up, sign in virtually, and then get called in and helped. I understand needing an appointment for an eye exam, specially during a pandemic. However they are requiring an appointment to pick up prescription glasses that are payed for in full and were ordered days ago. First and last.

I love this place! The staff are very friendly and patient with each client. Ive been coming here for years with my children. Now that Im getting up in age and my eyes are letting me know it, Charm City is the place to go! With social distancing during these covid times, they are super cautious and thorough. Truly so patient with everyone, making sure all of the machines and rooms are sanitized. While waiting for my eyes to dilate, I was offered water by a very nice tech. The opticians are wonderful. I will always get my eye care done by Charm City Optical. They are the best!!❤

I am greatly disappointed and disgusted with the way I was treated. Staff was rude and disrespectful. What normally would take an hour to hour and a half turned into 3 hours, and the excuse was COVID, however they were full to capacity it was over 12 people waiting to be seen inside the building and more outside in cars and standing in front of the doors and it was over 15 employees inside. After waiting an hour to be seen and another hour while in the exam room for the Dr (who was nice and the young lady that took me to the room) I was then escorted back out front where I had to wait again. I felt I was discriminated against because I asked to see the Cartier glasses and I was told I couldn’t go over there to look. Mr. Alex said he could bring me what I wanted but never moved to go get any glasses from that side. I asked what days were they less likely to be busy did they have any down days, at which point he stated they weren’t busy (but it was people everywhere and I wasn’t allowed in that area because it was “to many people there”). I then asked for my prescription so I could get my glasses elsewhere. He gave me a piece of paper he took off the chart he held when he called my name (I watched him). I took the script and left went around the corner to a more professional, respectful, and clean eye glass company (Eyes at the Plaza) and proceeded to purchase glasses when they realized I had someone else’s prescription with ALL her personal information on it. The employee contacted Charm city requesting MY prescription and explained how I had some one else prescription they said the would call back only for one of the employees to walk around the corner being rude never gave them my prescription but picked up the other person’s prescription they gave me and was rude and nasty walking out the door. Never apologized about my experience with them, no empathy or compassion for their incompetence . I would NEVER EVER recommend them EVER!!

There was this one employee named Sydney she was amazing very patient kind and helpful just off the strength of her I would recommend 1000 more people. She displayed great customer service!!!

I’ve never in my life been so embarrassed and belittled by a company. The receptionist Megan and manager Inessa are HORRIBLE!!! The level of customer service in this place is degrading. They treat people as if they are above them and for heaven sake don’t have an opinion about something and express yourself they will swear you are being argumentative. How can a company dismiss you as a client and not tell you. The level of discrimination at this place will be reported!!!

The staff was very warm and helpful!! They welcomed me in with open arms and I had my best experience ever. I am 45 now and have worn designer frames since high school. The selection here made me feel like Ive never owned a pair of designers and they gave me new lenses so I can stop breaking my glasses all the time.

I had an eye exam done and picked and purchased frames in the same day. This is six months out and my frames was not measured correctly on my face, luv frames but no experience on face measurements. I as much as look at the floor and my glasses falls off my face, their taking covid-19 too another level when they hand your glasses to u outside the door. Thumbs down on service.

This place is the literal best. I came in for a walk in and I could tell why they’re booked up bc they’re all awesome here. I was greeted by this nice lady (who takes in a tone that was just so welcoming)to fill out paper work and then two minutes later she came to check on me and welcomed me in. About 2 minutes later a medical technician called me back and I could tell by his tone of voice that he deserved to work there and did the best at his job. He did a few test. Next came the doctor who was really nice and welcoming making conversation to make me feel better for being nervous about having to wear glasses for the first time. After I was sent to the front to another younger lady to pick out my frames and she was just so nice. I didn’t know what I liked bc I’ve never worn glasses before but looking in the mirror and having her there made me feel so much better! I felt like I was picking out glasses with my best friend. She recommended I try big frames and told me which ones she liked as well to. She was also very informative telling me not to lay my glasses face down bc that’s exactly what I did when I took them off. My experience there was the absolute best and I would recommend charm city to everyone. Made my day a lot better and I’m excited to get my first pair of glasses now!

The customer service is always on point from start to finish no matter who helps me. They are very patient, they take there time with you and they go out there to make you feel good about your purchase, don’t mind if your only window shopping either. This place has always been unprofessional. I took time off from work to bring my sons in for their appointment and had to wait for thirty minutes only to find out from staff that the doctor did not come in that day. The staff person then put me on hold for another ten minutes to find out whether my sons can still be seen. She told me they can reschedule or wait and they were six people in front of my sons. She was rude and told me I was being impatient. I’m done with Charm City Optical

I came in for an eye exam & a pair of new glasses the other day & I have never had such a positive experience. Munis, the employee who assisted me with choosing the style of my frames, was top tier in her professionalism. Very efficient & positive energy in that place. I’m scheduled to receive my new glasses in the coming week. Next time I am due for a check up I’m coming to Charm City Optical. 👌🏻

Ive been a customer since the beginning. Always enjoyed my visit at Charm City Optical the staff is always friendly and professional oh and they have the BEST eyewear 👓 have plenty to choose from. I wont go anywhere else. Love 💘 getting my glasses from Charm City Optical.

As someone who LOVES eyewear and takes my selections seriously Claudia was GREAT!!! She was extremely helpful and patient as I tried on several frames. I found two great frames!!!

Customer service is really rude receptionist answered the phone with a nasty attitude I never had this experience until today overall great place to get glass but customer service sucks

Everyone was extremely polite and helpful. Optometrist ensured that I received referrals for certain specialist and when it was time to choose my glasses, the young lady was very patient with me. This where I’ll be going from here on!

I did not have the pleasant experience today. As a patient I was treated bad by the employees and the owner. I brought me a new replacement frame and I was not given a eye glass case nor eye glass wiper. When I ask and request they gave me a hard time and was very rude and call me a opportunists in front of patients and staff. Not 1 time I was given apology. I was told im not welcome back. This company is very prejudice. Please do not go there for any services.
