Matt was friendly, knowledgeable, and explained every step of the process while continually making sure I was comfortable with the experience. The shop was clean, everyone inside was friendly, and the cost was reasonable and affordable. If I ever need another piercing, this will definitely be my first choice! Highly recommend to anyone looking to get pierced in the Baltimore area.

Came here about 3 weeks ago because my ear lobe piercing was swelling up and I thought the the back of my earring fell off. Currently, they are by appointment only and I was able to pick up an appointment the same day. Masks are required when inside.Matt was really informative and cleaned up my piercing for me then magically my piercing healed within two days! Their studio is very clean and Matt changed his gloves at least 3 times just to check on my piercing! Will probably be back here to get my jewelry changed.

I have nothing negative to say about the art or actual work of the artists at this shop, but if customer service and flexibility are important to you, this NOT the place to go.Heres what happened to me...I had an initial consult in October regarding a tattoo I wanted and was asked to go to the shop. To continue forward in anyway, you must put a $100 deposit. This is common but if anything changes you will never see this money again.I happen to have a job that takes me overseas and also became pregnant. Since I had to cancel my appointment due to the pregnancy and I am also moving overseas this summer (and will not be living in Baltimore again), I asked Anastasia is there was anything that could be done.I had paid the $100 deposit that is supposed to go towards a tattoo and the drawing of a design, but in our email correspondence I never saw any tattoo design and the idea was NEVER discussed after the initial consultation, even up to the week before my appointment. I was told that she does not design the tattoo until the day before, so if you are wanting to give feedback or change things up that you might not like, there isnt a lot of time to do this. Again, in my opinion, this shop is not putting the client first.I asked simply for the drawing since I would never be able to schedule an appointment and Anastasia said I could commission a drawing and pay her AGAIN if that is what I wanted. She then said that since I cancelled due to the pregnancy, she would book someone else and focus on their tattoo, not mine and was unwilling to work on the drawing because she is too busy. As I tried to explain that I would not be able to book an appointment and was asking for other options, she said, mam, Im trying to work with you but the only solution that was given was to reschedule, which obviously wasnt a viable option for my situation.This is the WORST customer service I have had in a tattoo shop and Ive been a client at several tattoos shops across the world. Save your money and go somewhere the artists prioritize their clients and not simply making money for themselves.

This past Sunday I just got my biggest tattoo done by ClayHe took my my reference drawing and made into something so amazing I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw the sketch. It was a whole new level when the tattoo was done, its such a beautiful piece I wouldnt of ever thought I would be able to have for the rest of my life. So much great detail!!! Clay was funny, very thoughtful and professional! Clay and Anastasia both had an amazing vibe and were just very funny and made my experience a great one! All of my friends are amazed and jealous of my gorgeous new tattoo! Definitely will be back for future tattoos and possibly even pericings!Thank you so much Clay!!!

I chose to go here for my piercing because of the raving reviews for Matt and he 100% exceeded those. SUPER friendly, answered any and all questions and was thorough. Everything went seamlessly and he explained each step as he went. He also very kindly encouraged me to reach out if I think there’s anything funky going on with my piercing or have any questions in the future. He even referred me to someone in Philly if I have issues because I’m moving soon. I honestly don’t think you’ll find a better experience anywhere else.

Awesome experience. Clean and friendly shop. I was told for years I couldn’t get a hoop for my nose ring because it was too far back. Long story short I let my hole close up or at least I thought I did. Not only did Matt get my hole open and avoided me the pain and cost of a new nose piercing but I got my hoop ring! He was so informative and accommodating. I would recommend this place for piercings!

Flawless transaction from beginning to end! This was my third tattoo and I picked a really tough spot (ribs, I know) but Justine calmed my nerves and even use the numbing cream to help with the pain. She was awesome, friendly, good conversation, professional and even called me to come earlier than my expected time! So glad I have a new shop in the city. Keep doing what yall do! Overdue review but I was incredibly impressed with the service here! Matt was very accommodating to my walk-in appointments, professional, and thorough. Even though I’m fairly easygoing and my visit was quick, I was a little timid going in without any piercings or tattoos but everyone made the experience comfortable. Facility was very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Will be returning in the future! Parking is also pretty easy with a convenient lot right across the street.

I searched out a tattoo shop near me to get my daith piercings (both ears). Was greeted at the door by a nice lady (who took my temp & gave me paperwork to fill out)& then met with Matt (my piercer). He was extremely knowledgeable, honest, friendly, professional, & very committed to keeping with hygienic standards as it pertained to piercing & COVID prevention. I liked that they had a lot of quality jewelry to choose from & I wasn’t rushed. He had taken his time & explained everything to me. Matt is a true professional and will do everything in his power to give you a clean and enjoyable piercing. He made sure I knew that the wait was to sterilize the needles he would be using for me. He also took incredible care throughout the whole process to make sure all instruments and gloves were as sterile as possible. In general, the whole shop is incredibly clean and well kept, cleanliness is obviously their top priority.Matt also did an excellent job making sure I knew about the steps for the procedure and made good small talk while I was waiting. He was also very kind when I came in multiple times before the piercing for research and to order jewelry. I had a great experience, highly recommend him and cant wait to be back for my next piercing.

Very professional! I recently got a piercing from another shop where I was disappointed by a few things my piercer did/didnt do. I went to Mt. Vernon to get an opinion and Matt immediately took me in as if I was his own client. He gave me descriptive aftercare information (that my original piercer did not), he helped clean my piercing and told me things to do/ not to do to keep it healthy. He made me feel relaxed and answered any questions I had. My next piercing will definitely be from here!!

I just had my ears pierced here and I was initially worried about scar tissue on my ear lobes from a previous piercing. Nevertheless, Matt was so awesome and accommodating and the piercing turned out great. Fantastic experience.

Clay is by far the best tattoo artist I have ever had the pleasure to get a tattoo from. His shop is very clean and run very professionally. I have gotten 2 tattoos at Mt. Everything was sterile and he changed his gloves multiple times~ Im an RN, and I was very satisfied with how he did the whole procedure. He was VERY thorough with the piercing placement too (that took the most time!). My friend and I was trying to get our belly buttons pierced. Was told to be there before 7:30. Got there before 7:30 and they said they couldn’t do both just one of us. Don’t inform customers to be somewhere before set time and act like you can’t provide both of us with service after we did exactly what was told.

I got a conch piercing done here yesterday. The place was great and very clean, the staff was very friendly. Matt, the piercer, was very friendly and professional and talked me me Through everything, from the jewelry selection, to the piercing process, and to the aftercare. Really great experience. I didn’t get a tattoo, but i did char with the tattoo artists, Clay, for a bit while I was waiting for the customer before me to finish her piercing appointment and he was also friendly and cool. It was. Aclean and laidback environment, a great experience overall. And hey do use an autoclave to make sure all the piercing equipment is clean and sterile, so that’s always a plus. Would definitely recommend this place.

Mt. Vernon Body Art is a comfortable and inviting tattoo shop. The location is awesome and there is parking across the street to accommodate clients (you have to pay but it is well worth it considering many city locations requirement permits). The artwork in the shop is eclectic and unique. All of the staff is courteous, respectful and helpful. While I was getting my tattoo, I was able to engage in conversation with everyone and found the staff easily relatable. Everyone communicated openly and enjoyed the company.I got my tattoo done by Anastasia Gnau. I couldn’t be happier! From the first time I met her during a consult, I knew she was going to be the right artist for me. She truly dedicated herself to pleasing her clients. She is incredibly friendly and willing to answer any questions or concerns. While tattooing, she checked in multiple times to make sure I was okay, and kept me informed throughout the entire peocess. She has a very light and delicate hand, and her style of tattooing is fascinating to watch. I love that she doesn’t get wrapped up in the politics of the tattooing world.
