Chris and the crew at fed hill motors are the best. They’ve been helping me with my Jeep for years now and it’s always a great experience. They are professional, friendly and the turn around time is always reasonable.

Originally said I’d have to schedule for next week, which I was fine with, but they were able to get my service done same day. Excellent, honest service in a time where good shops are hard to come by! Goodyear was trying to do double the work which was completely unnecessary. Will be coming back for sure!

Federal Motors has been extremely helpful in diagnosing my 2015 Subaru WRX. They have been prompt, great at communication and explaining the problem and coming up with a solution. All at a price point that I thought was very reasonable for the level of service given. Would highly recommend. Will be back!

Scheduled an apt a few days out to help unclog/diagnose my a/c drain tube. Dropped it off on time and had a call back within a few hours letting me know it was good to go. Price was better than I expected and everyone I spoke to was pleasant, courteous, and professional. This was my first experience here and will definitely be coming back from here on out.

These mechanics did an oil change in my transmission, I provided the original oil and a filter, they just poured 2 liters of oil from the transmission and said everything is fine, you can drive and just took 2 bottles of oil, when I came to another mechanic he asked who did you an oil change in the transmission, because you do not have enough oil for 2 liters, I said that Federal Motors, and I could jam the transmission for not spilling oil, I do not recommend these mechanics to anyone

They got me in as soon as they had availability. Helped me with the tow. Fixed my Jeep up like new. I will continue to do business with them as long as I live in the city.

Outstanding. Went there for an oil change, got in at 9 and told them I needed to be in a meeting at 11. They pushed me to the front of the line and quickly got the work done so I wasnt delayed, I was on my way by 0945! Really polite and helpful staff too. Ill definitely go back.

The other reviews are spot on! Everyone is friendly and easy to talk to, and the communication in general was excellent. Chris was able to break down the problem into simple terms, and talked me through the solution. The pricing and quality of work were both excellent. Really has that small town mechanic vibe, where you can put your trust in them.

I Complained of loud noise under vehicle, while driving. I wanted a diagnostic done to determine what’s wrong. Dropped my vehicle off at 7am & didn’t get it back until closing time 6pm only to be hit with a $240 bill and the service rep informing me they where unable to diagnose the noise. I asked the mechanic Chris what’s wrong with the truck and he was very rude, Unprofessional and very dismissive. So my vehicle is still making the same loud grinding noise and I’m down $240 !!!! What a rip off!!!!With the $240 I could have went to a different mechanic.I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone for anything other than a oil change, it’s hard to mess up an oil change

If you went there and gave them less than 5 stars, I would say you’re lying!! These folks are the best - honest, professional and dedicated to what they do. We have taken our car twice to them, and they have literally done the best job and been totally honest about what they have charged us and what kinda repairs we can expect moving forward. The lady upfront - Kim is very kind and extremely accommodating! Federal motors is our permanent spot for all car repair/maintenance needs!! 5.1 stars!!

Went to my dealership for recall service and was told that my brakes were done for and needed immediate replacement for a total of $500. Called Federal Motors and not only was their estimate for the same job significantly lower, but after I brought the car in I got a call from them asking why I needed anything done to the brakes as they had about a year of life left. Saved me $$ with their honesty! Highly recommend.

A great car shop. Honest, good customer service, great pricing and knowledgeable. I have had multiple good experiences there, one major service and one minor. Both times I was very pleased, they made something that can be stressful very easy.

This establishment was my savior. My car had issues while I was visiting the city and I thought was going be stranded down here since I live in the county. They were extremely helpful, spoke with my regular mechanics, and had my car fixed within 2 hours. They were reasonably priced and super friendly. I highly recommend them if you live in the city.

Great service shop! Worked in our leaky tire at the last minute. Had it fixed in less than 10 minutes. Very accommodating on a late Friday afternoon. Highly recommend.

I really appreciate the honesty and quickness of Federal Motors. They get my car in and out quickly for oil changes and the price is great. I’ve had nails in my tires a couple of times and they get those out and plugged them quickly and for a great price. They replaced my tires and I got a rebate, too. Overall excellent service!

Good people to deal with and felt that I could trust them to work on my Subaru. I had a tire replaced and bike rack hitch adjusted, so I didnt have any major work done. But would feel comfortable going back if I have a more serious issue.

Chris and the guys there at Federal Motors have always given me the best auto service, hands down. There have been many times where when Im picking up my car after having a standard tuneup and Chris had said hey, I fixed that door that wasnt shutting properly. Id say thanks and ask how much that cost and hed respond oh, no charge - it was nothing. This type of thing happened multiple times. He never tried to suggest more work than was necessary. Just make an appointment and give them their time. This one time, the check engine light came on one time and I took it to another place. This other place wanted $100 just to figure out the problem and informed fee could not be applied to the repair. I went right to Chris right before 5:30pm and within minutes hooked up computer, informed that it was an O2 sensor and hed take care of it at the next tuneup - NO CHARGE. I was out of there at 5:35. He is the man.

Cant say enough good things about the service here. Ive had a ton of issues with my 02 Pathfinder since buying it, and these guys were able to fix my breaks at a rate of almost half what everyone else was charging. He even showed me why I was having the issues I was having with the break drums and showed me how he was able to fix it. Kim up front is extremely personable and keeps you company while you wait. Top notch shop.

Ive lived in Federal Hill for 6 years. During that time Ive taken my Toyota, and soon my Lexus, to Chris and his crew. They are outstanding. Consistently honest, affordable, reliable, etc... The downside is that as a small neighborhood mechanic shop they are limited in how many vehicles they can service / store at a time. The waiting list is sometimes lengthy but very well worth it. Ill gladly postpone my visit by a week in order to get my car into Chris capable hands and management. Ive also submitted the same A+++ review on Angies List.

I lived in Federal Hill from 1987 to 2010 and now live in Ellicott City. Thats over 25 years as a happy Federal Motors customer. At first they were conveniently in walking distance, and now they are a little less convenient. These guys are the best. You will never find better and count yourself lucky if you found someone else this good.

I trust Chris (owner) with both my cars (2004 Toyota Prius and 2006 Porsche Cayenne). Very reasonable in price and scope of work. If you dont need the work done, he wont do it. If you do, you know the job will be done right.

They have great service. Chris is the man and takes the time to explain things and understand the issue. They saved me thousands of dollars because some other place said I needed new struts. He checked them, made some adjustment and explained to me that they were in good shape. Also, I saved big on new tires. He went out of his way to tell me my old tires still had some good tread but I let him know my concerns. Called for an estimate on plugging a punctured tire, and rate and duration were both less than two others in the neighborhood. Entire process took 20 minutes including a test drive to confirm the low tire pressure light went out and paying the bill, which was half the original estimate because it was a simple fix. Ill definitely use this place next time I run into trouble.

I bring my new and old vehicles to Fed Motors. Chris shoots you straight. Anecdote: An out of town shop estimated two-thousand dollars work needed on a work truck I bought. I took the truck to Fed Motors, had the required work completed under Fed Motors oversight, charging around $800. Chris said the work originally estimated was downright unnecessary. This is the quality of ethics I wish more auto shops operated under.Good on you Federal Motors! I look forward to working with you for another ten years.

This is only my second or third ever web review, but I feel it is important to share the numerous great experiences at Federal Motors. The positive feedback on here dates many years, but they continue to offer top quality work at fair prices without charging you for unnecessary repairs. They dont replace your rotors and pads if your rotors just need turning. I had Amazon ship new tires to their address (with permission). They installed the tires on my Toyota truck and the alignment and balancing are perfect, which is tough on this model vehicle. There are no flashy coupons, no salesmen, just honest hard workers. Make an appt, drop off your vehicle after hours, and pick it up the next day.

Federal Motors is the most honest car shop I have ever been to and I will keep bringing my vehicles for service and repairs there as long as they are around.

I hate to say it but this place is not what the reviews say...they ripped me off! I took my car in for a clutch because of the reviews and their labor rate is fair to their credit. However, they way over charge for parts - in my case over 400% mark up! They charged me $580 for parts that they got for way less then $100. When I asked them why the parts were marked up was so high, he said he would look into it, but ultimately came back and said I agreed to the estimate for the total repair on the phone - so no reimbursement!! When I asked how he could justify charging double for what the Honda dealer charges for OEM for aftermarket? He acknowledged that he installed aftermarket, but no reimbursement due the reason listed above. I showed him what Napa charges online (which was $50-$100 for all the clutch kits sold for my car), he replied he would not consider online pricing. Bottom line is they seem like nice people at first, but in the end they will stick it to you on parts. Check your invoice!

Federal Motors is one place where you know that nobody is going to try to screw you with a unneeded repair or charge you an unreasonable amount. The owner is so busy he doesnt need to do it. I have used this place for years, and remember coming in one time with an engine repair light on and he said it was only the light that was broken, reset it, and didnt charge me a dime! Today, he was really busy but moved my car up in the rotation and rushed to get it done since I needed it for a trip.The only downside is that word has gotten out, so he is always very busy. I probably shouldnt even be writing this review, now he will be even more busy! But, better to go to a busy good mechanic than a slow and desperate bad one.
