..This place was great. Last Woolworths diner in America. Solid hamburger, fries, and drink. Art deco building, all the fixtures were either vintage or art deco. Great place to enjoy a lunch and take your mind off of work.
So Awesome to see and sit in the original authentic Woolworths Diner. The Staff is so friendly and helpful, and the Food ! The Food was AMAZING !! Brought back So many Memories. Thank You Woolworth 💙
Great place! Wonderful staff! Delicious food! The nostalgia on the wall is awesome
We were really looking forward to my first visit there. First, the manager arrived only 5 minutes before the 10 oclock open time. So after waiting another 7 minutes she finally opened it, explains that they had to get the money situated. In my working days we arrived 15 minutes early to prepare and opened on time. Then, we had to wait another 30 minutes because the snack bar didnt open until 1030. So we browsed the first floor and had a ball looking at all the treasures in the store. We had our lunch which was very good. Wait staff was pleasant, but, not overly friendly, like the good ole days. I miss genuine friendliness. At the check out, the manager helped a customer behind me and no apologies for skipping me. Not even sure she knew I was next and she didnt ask. Over all, I was a bit disappointed by the employees in but their inventory and food was great.
So cool. A really fun step back into the past. If youre older its a sweet reminder of simpler times. If youre younger, youll love the new experience.Good food. GREAT PEOPLE! The manager was wonderful. Fun to talk with and joke a little and the cook and servers had great smiles and made the experience so pleasurable. The atmosphere was a blast too! The signage and decorations were all in the theme of days past. So fun! I absolutely recommend to anyone who loves hamburgers and great milkshakes with fresh ingredients and lots of smiles in a fun authentic diner of the past.
If youre looking for a old-fashion burger joint, this is the place to go in Bakersfield. The servers even wear the classic attire (think paper hats, black bowties, and white shirts) which adds to the ambiance. The other part of the store offers a fun shopping experience for those who like to stroll and look a timeless trinkets thatll take you down memory lane. Its a timeless place and when I showed this picture of the restaurant to someone who went ther as a kid many decades ago, they exclaimed it looked just the same as it did way back then.
Weve been a number of time and the service and food is always great. Wonderful for a quick lunch date. We enjoy a walk around the thrift shop after.
Love getting lunch from here. Hubby and I go every Sunday after church for a date. Its a great place to get a good juicy burger and a milk shake 😋 👌🏼
Retro, affordable, fun atmosphere, and more than that, amazing food. The burger was classic, the fries were crispy and delicious, and the strawberry malt had real chunks of strawberries. Loved this place, will definitely come back.
Love antique shopping hear and what better then catching a bite to eat right in the same building
Cool 😎 little place to grab a burger combo and view all kinds of old school stuff.I take my kids so they can see some RAD stuff I grew up with in the 1980s.
Nice people, clean & medium speed food. McDonalds type taste.
A real walk down memory lane. Food is ok, just about what you remember. Prices are excellent.
I would highly recommend coming to this place. If you are married, in a relationship, with friends, or just by yourself you should come. The food is great Ive tasted the hamburger, hotdogs, fries, and hot chocolate and it was really good. The customer service is great as well as the location. The location is a two story antique store, which has a variety of antiques.
I asked the ladies at my Chiropractors office if they could recommend a place for lunch since Im new to the area. They told me about Woolworth so I thought Id give it a try...OMG! Its amazing. The food is super good, its fresh and the service is great too.
Great anitque store. But they have lost alot of vendor. We were there about 2 months ago and today there were alot of vacant spots.
Awesome burger meal, cheaper and better than mcdonalds! With handmade patties 😋The nostalga is awesome as well
Lucky to be able to bring my beautiful family to Americas last Woolworths diner. Simply the best.
I had to double bacon cheeseburger with fries and a Coke very very good will be back again
It was a great experience being able to eat the the Woolworth Diner. The staff seemed very nice and I loved the vibe that the diner had with all the old Coke ads on the walls. Of course the food at the diner was also delicious! It was like I was eating at a small scale Johnny Rockets which isnt a bad thing. Overall, I wouldnt mind eating there again if it means Id be able to enjoy the nice atmosphere of eating at an antique diner.
This is the last remaining Woolworths Luncheonette in the country. The owners did a great job of maintaining the historical vibe from the decor on the walls to the employee uniforms. The food options are standard quick serve dinner fare with hand pattied burgers, hot dogs, shakes, and more. Nothing beats the standard burger and fries, but I also recommend you try their homemade potato salad. It was amazing and the portions will keep you full. I really enjoyed stopping by for lunch and I definitely would do so next time Im in the area.
Walking by saw Woolworths diner and having heard about it in history class decided to try it. Limited hours... lunch only and small menu burgers and sandwiches with milkshakes but food was fresh and good. All inside an Antique store. Felt like a slice of Americana at lunch
The nostalgia of this place is amazing. Its like stepping back in time. The architecture inside is straight from the mid 19th century. The staff was very friendly and the food was fantastic. This was my first time ever going and it definitely wont be the last. Strongly recommend you go...and bring the family.
Cool idea for a diner/vendor consignment shop in an old Woolworth. I remember these from when I was a kid in the 90s.
When I need a day to myself, piece and quietness. Are just for a walk and see things that I havent seen since I was a child, I would always come here. The diner is fantastic with customer service Then I take a walk Through the store. Its not only to take me back, But see each vendor the way they lived. You could always tell by what they owned.
Had hamburgers and where tasty but pretty much the sort of burger expected for a luncheonette. Very small patty but still good enough. It is the experience and fun of something different that counts for this place. Price was reasonable and service very good. Plenty of local business folks having lunch also. Not a tourist trap sort of place. Can wander the antique mall located in the rest of the Woolworths after eating.
The food was fantastic. The milk shake was fabulous. OUTSTANDING SERVICE
Traditional Woolworth lunch counter. Step back to the past here. Great burgers and fries. Definitely a blast from the past.
Took a ride out to Bakersfield from Hesperia just to see what all the hype was about. Dragged my brother along for the cold ride. We were not disappointed. The place is full of nostalgia. Amazing !!! As he put it like stepping into a time machine The food was delicious and the staff was awesome!! Definitely a place you want to stop by on the way
Best old fashion burgers ever! Love this place!
I love this place its always full of new old stuff and the staff is no pressure easy going you can just cruise and look
What a neat place. Old fashion counter service and the food was amazing.
Good food, good service, good prices.
That is our go-to for friends family from out of town we love wolves worth the food is wonderful the Ambiance is fantastic I dont ever leave
The last Woolworth diner in the world. Cool trip back to the past with pretty good food and aneat antique store.
Fun and relaxed old-timey burger place that has some pretty tasty food. Service was fast during the lunch hour. I got back to work with a little time left on my lunch break. Seasoned fries were perfect. Burger was fatty, juicy, and fresh. I think I might have a new lunch spot here.
Really cute atmosphere in this 50s style diner! Burgers, dogs, and shakes are pretty basic, but cant really go wrong.
Had a great visit here - love the history and nostalgia of it all. The food options are very limited, but tasty...definitely get the fries w your order! And make sure to leave time to browse around the antique store that the diner is located in. Only complaint is that one of the cooks was wearing a well-worn shirt (it no longer looked white), and it had quite a large hole near the back of his arm - not super appetizing.
Had the cheeseburger/ fry combo. It was wonderful! You wont be disappointed!
We had soooo much fun there. We didn’t even know there were any more Woolworths around. We were on our way back home to San Diego from Yosemite when my husband found it on Google. The fifties diner was charming and we loved our burgers and shakes. I found the most adorable tea cups at the Antique Store next door. Its Americana Nostalgia at its most charming. We’ve never stopped in Bakersfield before but I think we’re going to make it a tradition to eat here on the way to Yosemite from here on.
The food is fantastic the service and the people are all fantastic it is it was a very good experience
I love love going here its perfect for browsing but usually find something
Best burger in Bakersfield and 5 an dime shopping after
Great right sized burger. The Peach shake was delicious and was made with real peaches. Id come back anytime and walk it off through the attached antique section. Which by the way is 3 floors. Alot of overpriced items, but I saw a few things that were decently priced. Great service, friendly staff and cheap.
The burgers have the old fashion taste👍
Great frankly. Thank you.
Lets face it... where else can you find a functioning Woolworths Luncheonette? This defunct Woolworths kept the storefront in tact all these years and the luncheonette is still functioning! The rest of the store is a fantastic antique mall! Two floors! There is plenty to see and the authentic Woolworth experience cant be beat! The food is classic diner food, but it was very good and the prices are fantastic!
The employees were friendly. You get more for money. Unless u want fries. They only have one size. And that is why they have 4 stars. Instead of 5
Waitress was little rude, atmosphere was great, takes you back to a time before. Should be more directive as to where to order or pay, needs a visibly enhanced menu
Its wonderful. Its nostalgic. Ownership is great. Their employees know how to treat their customers. As a child of the 70s the memories are heart warming.Thank you.PS: I love their pastrami sandwich.
Excellent food and service. Got there a little after the lunch hour. Service was fast and the fries were hot.
Service is fast. Great, fresh and amazing tasting food. Milk shakes are delicious 😋
Best burgers in an old style ambient.
Really cool! I love the 50s vintage style and also the food is very good!
I love the nostalgic atmosphere of this quaintly 50s style themed restaurant tucked away inside the antique mall. Their food and service are excellent and their devotion to appeal made this an enjoyable experience that will definitely warrant a return visit.
Lets see: hot dog was about the same as what I can get from my microwave. Chili was thin and flavorless. Tea was so weak I may as well have been drinking water. At least the baked beans were fine. Most egregious, though, was that none of the employees were wearing masks. In fact, I get a strong germ theory doesnt apply to us vibe. Will not be coming back.
A fantastic experience. It took me right back to the 1960s when I used to go to the diner with my grandfather. The food is excellent. The staff is very friendly. Everybody works very hard there. I will definitely come back and I will bring my fiance who also used to eat at the diners way back when. We look forward to another experience with you people in the future.
Best classic cheeseburger in town AND a fun experience AND you get to thrift before/after. I usually see folks dressed in retro outfits coming for an outing too, which is neat.
Went at 3pm on Sunday. Diner was closed. Lady at antique desk said they close at 3 or 3:30 on Sundays... although this site says close at 4.
An absolutely incredible experience. Loved being able to watch my food being prepared. The Burgers are juicy and flavorful.
Cool spot for a burger and a shake!
One of these days Ill eat here. I love shopping for unique finds here. And the people are really friendly.
Omg!!! Had the best roasted turkey sandwich I have ever had yesterday at Woolworth Diner! If you haven’t been there, you are missing out on an old fashioned 50’s type diner with floats and milkshakes served in a frosted glass, etc! I don’t live in Bakersfield but can’t wait to go back! My friends that were with me all had hamburgers and fries and they said they were delish!
Very nostalgic...great shakes.. super service...awesome employees
Ever since my sister took me here in highschool I have returned any chance Im in downtown, retro atmosphere, amazing people and a awesome memory waiting to happen once you step foot through the front door!
