Cakes never disappoint! Recently tried their cookies and they are some of the best cookies in town!

I always try to see the good in everything…I seriously used to love this place. Not anymore. Most of these ladies who work there are so RUDE! They charge crazy high and expect to pay to write on your super expensive cake “happy birthday.” “I don’t need to explain anything to you.” So mean and unnecessary.

Always on point. Ive had 2 custom orders made and everything was perfect. Our birthday brownies for our boys who dont care for cake and frosting. Thanks for the no frosting brownies. Perfect for ou fudge sundaes. Huge and delish!!!

Again called to order a cake and the young lady who answered the phone was actually pretty rude. Don’t seem to have this trouble when I go in. Need to educate your staff on customer service over the phone. It’s hard to always come in to order when you work.

I bought a funfetti cake from here for my birthday and I expected it to be sweet but it was way too sweet. The frosting in the middle felt like eating straight up sugar. Way too much frosting. Not really worth the price.

Yes, the Front door was hard to find at first, but they do have one. Little gift shop, then sweets. Cake like sweets!

This is one of my all time favorite bakeries ever ❤ they have a great selection and everything is always really good and fresh and the customer service is always great, thats a true necessity, plus the things they offer in their boutique are unique.

Great selection...especially if you need a gluten-free treat. Hard to find that consistency of a cookie made from gluten-free ingredients, but they certainly did it! Its a popular spot so by the end of day items can run low or out...call ahead or place an order if you have a favorite!

Came in a month ago asking if you were able to make the unicorn cake on the left. You stated that it was actually your cake, so yes you could make it exactly like that. All I had to do was bring in a picture of it when I placed my order so that the hair color would be what I wanted. I did as you asked. I paid the $80. And the picture on the right is what I received. Hair color was incorrect. Eye color incorrect. And the horn was alternated without my permission or knowledge. No phone call, no notice, nothing. I was told to place the order 3 days before I wanted it picked up. I was extra considerate and placed the order 8 days ahead of time. That should have been more than enough time to make the order exactly as I had paid for it, along with the picture that was provided to ensure that it would not be screwed up. While the cake was still cute, it was not what I had asked or paid for.

Friendly staff. Patient with me while I take my time deciding what to order. Knew the prices by memory. Safe oriented. Its my birthday and they made me feel welcome. I always come here to treat myself every year because of how good they are to me.

I bought a cake that had both coconut and pecans (forgot the name of the cake) exactly like the birthday person wanted. However, this $75 cake was literally 50% icing. The cake was WAY TOO SWEET. Absolutely no one liked it. Extremely dissatisfied for such an expensive cake.

If you are in Bakersfield a must stop and pick up a cupcake or 2. They are so nice and helpful. Plus their cupcakes are so yummy. I was able to find a whole cake on short notice. Plus they wrap in a beautiful bow.

Just found out about this place a couple of weeks ago and Ive already been back at least twice. The red velvet cake and the carrot cake are yum yum yum. Im still working on the rest of the flavors

My experience with Sweet Surrender was amazing. The girls at the location were friendly, and displayed excellent customer services. The inside of the location was fresh, clean, overall a welcoming environment. From the lady who took our order, all the way to whomever physically prepped our cake, paid wonderful attention to detail, giving my daughter exactly what she asked for. Yes Sweet Surrender is pricey but the fresh moist deliciousness of their cake was well worth every cent for my daughter.

My absolute “go to” place for cakes, cookies, bars, and gifts. Always a pleasure and fun- everyone is pleasant and helpful!! I’ve moved out of state and Sweet Surrender will be one of the first places I go back to when I’m back in town!! Oh my goodness it’s Fall today- the decorations will be amazing..😱

Food good but i gave them 3 star cuz Not a friendly place when it comes to the people of color.. there no greeting. There is no thankyou come again.. feeling. They dont smile. At u. they look at u different cuz u are color like we not supposed to be there. Like we can afford it . I been here different times with different people. I hope they work on that. It will feel more welcoming 😊

I definitely try to make it by Sweet Surrender several times a year. I love their yummy desserts such a nice selection on any given day. i always get my sons bday desserts here as well as just because lil bites of deliciousness! Today i got a small coconut tres leches cake, white chocolate bread pudding (already had a tiny taste lol) OMG soooo good!! also got a lemon, orange julius,2 maple bacon, a turtle and a matterhorn cupcake...btw i haven’t tried the orange, maple bacon or turtle cupcakes yet so i’m def gonna have a tiny bite of each duh ;)....always excellent service as well. Oh my fav cupcake is the raspberry almond if u ever get to go there that is a must they usually have them on fridays but the rotating menu is online.

Food is great and tasty. The mask policy cost a one star rating. Employees should be made aware of the law and provide an option. If someone has a medical or religious reason to not wear a mask the business needs to respect that. This applies to ALL businesses. In the end, this experience will not deter me from going there again.

Their sweets are perfectly crafted from a place of love. The boutique has a ton of cute knock-knacks, in addition, everything is made locally! The staff are prompt, but polite and patient. They allow you time to explore or ask questions without rushing or being pushy. Ive always had a pleasant experience here.I come often to purchase cupcakes or the cheesecake cupcakes, and I have always been pleased. My most recent visit was to purchase a Pink Champagne Barbie Cake for a very special 4yr old. While the cake was spectacular, my only complaint is that I wish I had been informed they dont use the whole Barbie! Her legs are removed!

These folks live up to their name and reputation. I made sure to visit when I was in Bakersfield. The coconut cupcakes were my favorite. The German chocolate cake was perfect. Highly recommended!!!

I have been coming here literally for years! Matihorn cake is my favorite and normally i wont even touch chocolate cake. I was living in Arizona but did travel assignments in California and always stopped by there on my way home, its just worth it!!!

I have been coming to this bakery for a very long time. I live in Visalia and have driven there many times for birthday cakes and gifts. I went last week to order my wedding cake. I called ahead to see about setting up an appt and was told they don’t do appointments to just come in. So we did.I wanted my fiancé to experience it but it wasn’t a good experience. They just wanted to take the order, gave no help and didn’t offer to taste anything. We purchased some cupcakes for my fiancé to try but they made us go outside to taste it (because of covid???)We came back in with some questions but they were too busy to help us. We ended up leaving and didn’t order our cake. I have spent thousands in this store over the years, send people there, buy clothes and gifts and sadly something has changed there.The cupcakes were good that we tasted. I’m never disappointed with the quality but the service kept us from ordering.

The pastries were really good. I got a slice of the red velvet cake the cake itself was moist and the frosting was a little more sweet than I expected. The service was straight to the point and didnt pressure a sale. The prices are displayed openly so you arent left wondering how your bill for so large.

They have an amazing sweet shop, but have also added a gift section with clothing, wine glasses, adorable baby items and so much more. Favorite cupcake flavors: Pink Champagne, oreo, Mattahorn, and lemon (lemon something... cant remember exactly).

Came here for the first time today. I needed to order a came for my mothers day on Monday. I heard good reviews about this place, and wanted to see for myself.This place is awesome! More than just a bakery really. It also sells candles, cards, stuffed animals, and more. Its pretty much a one stop shop for anything celebration or get well kinda stuff. I did however, purchase a turtle cupcake. It was awesome! :) Sweet Surrender is like a knock-off version of Sprinkles. Im sure to return here again! Plus, I have a birthday to pick up on Monday.Happy Holidays!

Nice selection of desserts. It has been featured on the Food Network, but I dont think its out of the ordinary. Desserts are tasty, but the ones I tried were very sweet.

My friend liked the coconut cupcake. They only have it on a specific day of the week. I went there to get that cupcake on the proper day which was also Valentines day. I waited in a huge line and when I finally got some service they said they didnt make that one because it is valentines day. It was the correct day of the week but they didnt make the cupcake. They could have put a note on the door or something. After that I will not go back to this store.

I just went to Sweet Surrender today and i had a couple of cupcake and all were very good. The cupcakes were very soft and the frosting was so Delicious. I was craving something sweet and the cupcakes where just perfect. The customer services was good, as soon as i walked in the door with my 3 boys a lady came up to us and gave them some candy. She was very nice. I will definitely go back again.

Their pumpkin chocolate chips cookies are epic!!! Too bad they’re only seasonal.

Delicious specialty cakes! The cupcakes are delicious and make a sweet gift in their clear decorated dessert boxes. Cookies, bread pudding, lemon bars make this a go to dessert spot. Cozy seating in case you want to sit with one of their specialty coffees for a respite.

More than I expected! There were cute clothes, home decor, soaps, dishware, and more! They even managed to make a mini matterhorn cake last minute custom lettering on the top of the cake. It was quite busy, but the staff all remained calm, cool, and friendly as can be. Very impressed!

Enter and enjoy at your own risk. Once you try their cupcakes you are unlikely to ever be able to survive without having them. They are completely delicious (red velvet is my favorite). Their candies are also delicious (although pretty pricey) and their boutique has some super cute clothing and decorations!

Cup cakes were okay. I purchased the lemon and pink champagne. The cake was good; the frosting was like the kind you would buy at the store. Not a big fan. I think it would be a fun place to bring your kids and friends every once in a while, but I most likely wont be going again.

I love sweets but Bakersfield doesnt have a great selection. I moved to this side of town and found this GEM of a store. The cookies were better than Smiths! And the eclair was to die for. I honestly havent had such a good eclair since I was in Rome, Italy. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

Im pretty neutral on this bakery. I wanted to see what they offered in gluten free goodies. They had a few things, but not much. What I got was good, but expensive. I probably wont ever go there again, but for those who prefer high end desserts, Im sure youd like Sweet Surrender. Theyve existed for a long time in this city, so theyre doing something right.

Super cute little shop. Lots of random things for sell..from clothes to kitchenware to bathbombs (i said random!) and of course pastries such as cakes and cupcakes, strawberry covered chocolates!! Theyve been featured on Oprah and the food network for their creations. Definitely a must when in Bakersfield Ca.

Most of the cakes here are great, definitely worth their higher price tag. However, I ordered the lemon white chocolate cake for my birthday and wasnt happy. The cake itself tastes like it came from Duncan Hines cake mix. Very strong artificial lemon flavor. I love their other flavors but this one just isnt on the same level. Im just dissapointed that I paid 38 dollars for a cake when I couldve made one from a cake mix and got the same thing :(
