Was a nice experience in the store they have an assortment of sporting goods they have bows for children and a wide selection of baseball Bats, I went in and purchased some water shoes for me and my children and the entire staff was friendly and helpful.

Visited here not from the area, it seemed pretty shady area wise and the employees didnt have the best helpful attitudes. They couldnt even pull a bow down so we could see if its the lone we wanted, said it would be a little while and then almost an hour later got assistance, was neglected to be told that it was because the only person who can take it down was on lunch? But Im not sure if Im being too severe because it could have been an off day and in general bad impression.

We love Big 5. This store has been around for decades at this location and does well on sales and customer service. The staff are always kind and helpful. The only recommendation I advise is to clear away the product clutter to make it easier for customers to move about the store. It seems a bit disorganized and confusing to move about and doesnt go with the floor plan of the two other Big 5 stores close by, such as East Bakersfield and Tehachapi. Their floor plans are both very similar to one another, making it easy for customers to know where to locate items.

The location on ming Ave. In Bakersfield is awesome so is the one at fasion plaza in Bakersfield. If youve never been to Big 5. Make a stop. You wont be disappointed.

Poor customer service...my cashier LATRICIA didnt even care that there were customer right in front of her...didnt say anything and proceeded to answer phone and talk to her co worker. Bad attitude, poor communication skills and just straight out rude. Sucks cause I really enjoy the shopping at this company.

Nice store but the entrance makes it very undesirable to visit. All the standard supplies needed from a sporting goods store. Clean. Friendly and helpful employees. Plan to sit through a few lights if coming from the freeway.

The running shoes here come at a great price and are lower compared to other stores and theyre good quality too. My track Coach recommended this place and the pair of shoes I grabbed from here were great. The second time I came here for running shoes, I found a good pair quick and easily. The cashier was nice and gave me a coupon for next time.

Doing some last-minute Christmas shopping the staff was very friendly and helpful. They even offered to give me a coupon off my shoes. The store was clean and organized. And the staff was fast and efficient.

Im well aware that Im being far too generous with the stars 🌟 with this specific companys location; but the very fact that this business risked the health of its own operators to make home-based fitness and wellness available (you know, to whomever were the first arrivals, [of that month...Or fiscal quarter; honestly, this place always looks like they just underwent major door buster or going-out-of-business type consumer-ravaged shelf-clearing sales] when they DID HAVE THINGS FOR SALE, [assumably] FILLING THE SHELVES, INSIDE THE STORE.) For physical activity during quarantine...Again I PERSONALLY NEVER SAW ANY FREE WEIGHTS OR EVEN ANOTHER OPTION OF HOME GYM STYLED OPTION FOR SALE THERE, BUT THE COMPANY WAS *SUPPOSEDLY* able to sell many many-a home exercise equipments... To all the customers that always make it to big5 before me.... Always.But especially during the current pandemic.

Needed to ask a quick question and who appears to be the manager ignored me. I then asked the man at the gun area.Not a good collection of snow boots for boys. Ended up getting cook Nike slip-ons. Some problems here.

I was miserable after sleeping on the ground because of bad advice I received from a guy at another place in Oregon. Needless to say, I was in a terrible mood when I walked in, but the sales clerk here was friendly, helpful. knowledgable and understanding, and even helped me find batteries for the new mattress and pump she helped me find. The woman who checked me out was kind, and it was overall an excellent experience. If I lived in Bakersfield this would be my store of choice. I had much better sleep after shopping here.

Poor selection of knives that youd expect to see in a liquor store, not a camping/hunting store. I would like to see some higher end knives that would actually be useful outdoors for chopping and making a fire. I dont think any of the blades they have could be used with a flint or hold an edge.

This is pretty much it as far as sporting goods stores go in Bakersfield. Sport Chalet and another one (so impressive I forgot its name) are gone... too much preppy, big city items and not enough camping-hunting-fishing stuff -- Bakersfield peoples interests. Big 5 doesnt have it all, but for a medium sized store, they do a pretty good job. One of two locations in Bakersfield.

Went to buy a new pair of water sandals that were marked down from 49.99 to 21.00. Had a e-mail coupon so picked them up for $19 dollars. When I went to cash register they rang up $52 but she straighten that out real quick and got my good deal. Ive always loved Big 5 they have good deals. I love the outdoors and they have the outdoors equipment. Cant say nothing bad about Big 5 all good. 👍👍👍👍👍

If theres a line outside its for purchasing ammo, no signs are placed notifying you, if in the ammo line, you might want to ask if the type of caliber youre looking for is available, you might wait in line and not have what youre looking for

Walked inside the store at 7:25. Store closes at 8 and i was told they stopped selling ammo at 7 because “they had a long day”.I walk out and call other big 5s and others don’t stop selling early. I walk back in to see if it was a company policy and a lady was literally showing a gun to a customer. Calling corporate when i get a chance. This is unacceptable.

Had to replace a friend of mines Golf Disc. I sorta lost his driver in a canal. So I went to Big Five. They had an assortment of them. I got one that looked like an eye ball. Pretty cool. $20. They pretty much have everything.

The store is crammed, the location is difficult to accesses, and theyre usually understaffed. HOWEVER, lol, they have fantastic prices (competitive with online - forget overnight shipping, you can pick it up TODAY), AND despite being a physically small space, they miraculously have what I need EVERY TIME. Its simply remarkable. After losing Sports Chalet & Sports Authority, its good to know theres still a centrally located option 👍*Did I mention theyve been there FOREVER?! Loveem!

I feel overwhelmed in the store because the amounts of products they sell. I do feel they are expensive, and lack staff during rush hour, holiday, weekend hours. They do however have a wide variety of products and many different categories from Personal Fitness down to racquetball to football cleats to snow skis great place to find your sporting needs.
