Love love love this place. I have gotten more sensitive to gluten as I’ve gotten older, and they have the BEST gluten-free injera I’ve ever had. Great customer service as well.

I love injera, and it is hard to find a place that makes good injera which is a shame considering it is gluten free and good for diabetes. That’s why I love Gihon market and recommend it to anyone that likes Ethiopian food. Only place I’ve been to that consistently has tasty and fresh injera! I’d honestly give it a 6/5 stars if I could.

If there is 0 star, i would give them 0. They try to cheat. If you buy the other brand injera they will be mad and disrespectful. They will tell you it is not a good injera. They do not want to give a receipt. In addition they do not leave you alone to buy what you want and as much as you want.

I wanted to learn how to make Ethiopian food so that my family could eat it more regularly. My 19 month old baby and I decided to stop into this grocery store, to see what we could see. The people there were so gracious, welcoming, and kind. My child was a handful, and I was also pregnant with my second, but the experience I had was amazing! Read on:I walked in to the store and spoke with one of the kind ladies who spoke English. I told her that I wanted some Shiro Wot. The lady offered me the Shiro powder that they sell. She then asked me if I knew how to make a recipe with it. Of course I didnt know how... She said I could google an easy recipe, but then she asked me if I was in a hurry. I wasnt, so she pulled up a chair for me! She proceeded to pull out her portable camp stove, a table, dishes, ingredients, and anything else that she needed from the back room! Right there in the middle of her store, this amazing woman so easily whipped up some Shiro sauce! She showed me how to make it right there, in the middle of her work day! How thoughtful of her. Even though this was a grocery store, she prepared a little plate of food for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite she prepared for me. Such a hospitable experience! And the food was out of this world, AMAZING!Aside from this, the family working there was so generous. One of the gentlemen there was so chivalrous, and he helped carry my purse and my groceries at one point. (I really appreciated this because I still had my toddler who was almost melting down.) Also, when my baby needed a drink of water, the lady showed me where to get some cold refrigerated water on such a hot day. We felt catered to, and very blessed for this experience. As a VERY white American, I truly appreciated their generosity, knowledge, and kindness toward my family. I will definitely be back, as the woman offered to make me a different recipe next time I come back in. I would highly recommend checking this place out, whether you are Ethiopian or not. It was the sweetest experience I have had in a long time, I had great conversations with the people there, and it was the highlight of my week! Please, go check out the Gihon Market!
