Atwater automotive is the place to go if you need a good, honest mechanic. Lon and his workers treat you fair and respect. They dont try to sell you anything you dont need. If for some rare occasion they cant fix your car, theyll recommend someone who can.

Lon is a good guy. Other than that, service is terribly slow, some of the staff was rude and it was overpriced. Expect a simple tune up or oil change to take all day. I do not recommend this shop.

Excellent customers service.

My car broke down a year ago, got a quote of $2,000 to fix my engine, water pump and timing belt. After they were done putting my engine back in they notified me that i needed engine mounts?..?. Why would someone put a engine back in and not replace the motor mounts? I would have said yes to do it if they had called about it. Anyways, after that was all said and done. I noticed my dash had been cracked and my front headlight was also cracked. In the event of needing to pay labor for motor mounts, and not wanting to go back to Atwater auto, I had to wait to get enough money. I just recently got enough and took it in, come to find out I had paid $2,000 for nothing because the engine was not fixed at all. They just replaced the water pump and timing belt. Please avoid this place.

These guys gave me an experience that one can never imagine. A dentist, a lawyer, a car mechanic.... no one ever hopes to ever have a need for one. And when there is a need for one, there is no room for bargaining or negotiating. You pay what they demand, and they give you the service you need (sometimes). I broke down at the elementary schools parking lot - went there to pick up my kids. I live in Sacramento area. First I tried Craigslist - obviously was dreading the cost of repairs if I called a mortar and brick mechanic shop.The Craigslist guy was a no-show. So, fearful, but stuck, I called these guys. I was sure that itll be a tow to their yard, followed by an extensive repair bill.The guy shows up, figures out the problem, but didnt had the part that was needed, drove back to the yard to grab one, came back and got me going. Asked me to follow him to the yard.... wow! Most would demand the money right there and then. I followed him, met with the owner and the cashier, both excellent people. Saw the bill, and almost fainted with a sigh of relief. It was not even half of what I was expecting and willing to pay!!! This is a GEM! - very rare!
