An absolutely fantastic and warm bakery. The owner takes time and care with his art and it shows. The cutest french pastries are here. He will help you choose coffee that’s best suited for you and will leave you with little treats after you finish your food. I make sure to come here every time I visit ATL.
The service here was such a shocking disappointment. You see such a beautifulPlace with the colorful pastries and then try and place and order which you then realize is a person that doesn’t care you are there or really have energy or customer service. There is a passion and commitment behind pastries and it was missing here. However, the pastries were good. We ordered several pastries and croissants and was not disappointed. So if you don’t care you are treated or care about human conversation then just stop here and get some dessert.
Saint-Germain Bakery has now catered two of my important business events of the year, and each time it is phenomenal. For the first event I only needed confections, individually boxed. For the second event I needed cocktail hors doeuvres as well as pastries, and it was absolutely as delicious as it was exquisite. I highly recommend them and will use them as often as possible!
Fresh ingredients, handcrafted beautifully with excellent presentation. The tortes are my absolute favorite, especially the apricot! You can get macaroons, chocolate, tortes, tarts, cakes, and so much more here. They are located within the Ponce City Market on the first floor. A must try if youre in the area.
Beautifully presented interior with an accomodating staffThings you should know:I. LOCATIONWithin the interlock, next to PuttShackII. QUALITYFresh. We ordered a pastry and 6 macarons. The cookies melt like butter in your mouth so you know they were neither frozen or stale! The flavors were so interesting to chose from.IV. SERVICEThey went above and beyond. We sat at the bar and the employee even checked on us--if we wanted some water with our pastries and coffees. Ive never experienced that at a bakery or coffee shop beforeV. CAPACITYSteady traffic flow for a Sunday evening. We were able to find available seats.
This shop is so lovely! I love the set up, with the fruit spreads and fresh breads for sale. to the well made coffee and sweets, a true gem! The artwork and table sets are so pretty. must try, although you do have to pay to park. but thats about everywhere now
So far this is the only place in Atlanta that has legit French macaroons that taste extremely similar to the Parisian Ladurée bakery. Also, the Opera cake is fantastic. One star off for the kinda crazy prices though. 😉🤷♂️
Hey internet, this is Kevin. You know me from such reviews as “my stay in Fulton County jail”. Well I’m back at it, but this time we’re talking bombass pastries. Every pastry, patisserie, chocolate or coffee this place makes is incredible. Everything is so well balanced and the deeper you eat into their mousse desserts, the better they taste. I gave one to my office manager yesterday and all she could do was yell “oh my god” and “I’m battling having to pause to enjoy the bite and wanting to keep shoving the fork in my mouth”.
Macaroons are to die for! Lemon Basil Tart is awesome too. Quick service even though line was crazy
The pastries are undoubtedly beautiful and vibrant, but flavors really fall short. Ive tried a handful of items on a few occasions and always felt that the pastries kept in the refrigerated case taste old - hard to explain but you know it when you taste it.
Too pretty to eat. When you don’t know which one to pick, I recommend asking the person behind the counter to surprise you with one. Don’t look, it’s a fun surprise!
The macaroons…. Love. Delicate, flavorful, so soft. I also tried a new dessert. My top 2 fav flavors from this location… mango and cotton candy. I forgot the name of the soft baked mini sugar coated biscuit for 55 cents but I loved it. See you soon!
We had an amazing apricot pistachio tart. The crust was firm and crunchy, the tart was exactly that-tart! Not too sweet, as so many others are. The shop offers plenty of variety. You wont be disappointed. I cant wait to go back!!! Well done.
Excellent little place in Ponce City Market. I had a spinach and goat cheese sandwich, and it was easily the best sandwich I’ve ever had till date. Absolutely amazing, if you’re a cheese-lover. Also had the ‘English breakfast’ tea, which was pretty good as well. I think the service depends on who’s behind the counter at the time, and at least when I’d visited, the employees were friendly and the service overall was good. Highly recommend stopping by at this little gem of a bakery!
A friend ordered me a cake for delivery. It was sent to me in rough conditions. I tried to tidy it up and make it better. The tiramisu cake it self was alright but the fruits had already spoiled ..they were mushy and not fresh. I like the idea of a cake delivery but I think the delivery itself was turbulent. I tossed all the berries and still enjoyed the cake though. I love the main store at Ponce and the business is run by a family. They are very sweet in person. Delivery is free during this time of quarentine too !
One of my favorite food places in Atlanta, this is the most authentic French bakery I have found in the city. Ive grown up eating eclairs in France, and these taste just like they did in Europe. All the pastries are good here.
I’m giving 2 stars for the fact that they were very pleasant and efficient. However, I was dying for creme brûlée one afternoon and searched endlessly until I came across their page. I cannot speak about any of their other products, but the brûlée was not good AT ALL! I have tasted several places and by far this was the worst. For starters it was not the traditional custard served in a ramekin, it was surround by a baked crust that tasted like raw coffee beans, the burnt sugar was melting and left a bitter and tart taste. The actual custard’s texture was firmer than I like and not as flavorful as expected. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to order brûlée from there! Please stop by to try other products though, I’m sure they are delightful, they just couldn’t get the brûlée just right! Not visually appeasing as well.
Wonderful bakery in the heart of town. Just left the howell mill location thats new by the way. Macaroons are just absolutely divine. Must trys in Atlanta. Diets are not allowed here
I struggled with whether or not I was going to the review, but ultimately I have decided to do so. I had a rather unpleasant experience today. I’ve had their macaroons before and they were pleasant, I enjoyed them while shopping around and the flavors were on point. This morning, however, I had an unfortunate experience with a blonde girl in a pink sweater or jacket. The line was long and had just gotten a coffee from the latte place behind them. I had just taken a sip. My mask was still on my ears but I lowered it to take a sip while we were distanced from other people. It was our turn and I asked the girl which of the quiche she preferred. She stops me and not in a friendly tone asked me to raise my mask up and wear it as it’s the rule for them for safety! Great rule, totally agree. I had no problem doing so. It was the delivery of that request that took me aback for a moment, but I moved on. I asked again, which of the quiche do you prefer, The quiche Lorraine or the goat cheese and mushroom. She says okay anything else... I asked again and she was steadily continuing to ignore me and was still in a huff about the mask. I said, you know what, never mind. My other half still ordered and she then carried on with him about how it’s the rule and she’s sorry that it upset me. NO ONE WAS UPSET ABOUT THE MASK. It was your attitude after and the way you treated me after I immediately apologized and put the mask back up over my mouth and nose. I don’t think we will be back. My other half’s chicken quiche tasted old. Glad I got something else from somewhere nearby.
What a delicious experience!Beautiful art creations with a delicious taste. You might think you you shouldn’t eat such beauties but the moment you indulge in them, you can’t just have one bite, or one pastry...On a date, friends brunch, or discovering new finds. This gem must be on your list! 🐝
Macarons! Macarons! Love it!Very warm and friendly service by the lady with the French accent.Macarons in all kind of flavors. We bought six. Ive had one so far and it was delicious!I also got the creme brulee which is just amazingly delicious! My favorite thing so far.Very cute little bakery with plenty of choices. They even have a little section for savory stuff.I will be back!!
The spinach and goat cheese quiche was amazing, and the macaroons were perfect. The presentation of the tarts and desserts were so beautiful, and everything was delicate and delicious. 100% would recommend giving it a visit!!!
We went to Ponce City market with friends to hang out. I was looking for a place to grab a Cappuccino and I found this place. The Cappuccino was not good at all. I dont know what kind of coffee they used but it was really quality. They have many different candies and cookies that looks so great. I did not try but my friend tried one and liked it.
From far, since I moved from Paris to Georgia, my most authentic French experience in the US. I tried almost everything, savory and dessert and every time I was amazed by the quality. The taste of course but also visually, it makes you want to get more. Vive la France in Atlanta!
Amazing experience and service. Matthew the owner served us as we had some espressos and treats. Will certainly come back!
I love pastries and Saint Germain Bakery hits the spots. They have your classics but also makes special holiday chocolates.I got the chocolate Eclair which was delicious and they actually have a chocolate custard inside! I got to taste the lemon macaron which was good as well. Not too sweet or tart.
The milk chocolate mouse was very good, but the espresso was heartbreaking. They should use good beans, especially for this price. They should also keep some spoons :)
Love the macaroons. I always stop here when visiting.
The tarts and mousse look lovely but tasteAwful.....Anyone with a palette can taste the artificial chemicals and the lingering aftertaste
I love supporting local businesses so I chose this place. I really wanted a cappuccino so I ordered one. Omg what a disappointment, the content was barely half of a cup. I should have gone to Starbucks. It’s the places like this that makes me bitter about supporting local businesses.
Your taste buds will thank you!
The best macaroons! 👌
Worth checking out. Really good choice of deserts and sweets.
We had a chocolate moose spider and it was great. The Presentation for all the options were pretty cool and all the sweets were top notch. Highly recommend checking out this place
The macaroons are delicious. The service was not completely to my liking, but tolerable.
I love the creme brûlée macaroon but I donot like their customer service they can be very rude when ask a question
Definitely the best french bakery in town, service and quality every time!!
Lovely dessert, pick something that is more in the tart or mouse cake families.I love a crusty buttery croissant so I stopped in for one. Of course how can I stop at just croissant when there are all these other good looking dessert bites. So I picked up a little raspberry tart too.So taste test. Croissant is a Nah... unfortunately this did not impress. The crust is a little soggy nothing close to a lovely crusty bite. The inside crumbs are more greasy than tender. I would say pass on croissant. The raspberry tart was better. Not overly sweet and the raspberries were fresh and plump. Great balance from the little tart bite with lightly creamy custard. Mm... better choice.Happy eating.
All desserts I’ve tried have been bad. They don’t habe a strong taste, they taste like butter. My family and I tried 5-7 different desserts and they weren’t good at all. Don’t be fooled by the delicious looks, because they’re not :/
Sweet Jesus. These macarons could make the French pleases with Americans again. The lemon has the perfect tartness, the red velvet was unexpectedly not too sweet. But the favorite was strawberry basil. I bought a dozen to take back home (to another state) and they didn’t even make it past the airport.
Style over substance is how I would describe the pistachio and peach mousses we purchased. While they certainly looked pretty in the case, they didnt make it home in one piece despite best efforts, and lacked any discernable flavour once eaten. I struggled to differentiate the two outside of a generic creamy taste, and sadly the gelatin in the peach tart hadnt dissolved properly, leading to a gritty texture. In short, they didnt justify the $14 spent on them, or motivate a returned visit.
Poor customer service, argumentative. Won’t be going back.
Double check before paying. Dont let them skip on your receipt. They will put back pastries without you looking to resell.
Searched for a takeout menu on both their Instagram and FB page during this quarantine. Several people have requested it as seen on their comments on both sites. They require you to give them an email to let you know. Sounds like theyre just selling email addresses for marketing purposes and thats a shame because theyre not being honest with their customers. Sadly they blocked me after just two comments questioning why emails are required and why they couldnt just post their takeout menus. Definitely will advice everyone I know to not purchase from them. A shame given how it seemed interesting.
5 star won’t describe their product and service. Great quality, best sweets you can get in atlanta or I would say in 500 mile radius.
Really delicious and well presented desserts. The macarons were a bit denser and chewier than others Ive had, but they still had a good flavor.
I had been looking for a really good bakery and thought I had found it after reading such good reviews for this place. So we headed over to Ponce City Market to get some tasty treats.I got a lemon tart, an eclair, and my boyfriend got 2 macaroons for $2.50 each (our total was about $16 for 4 small pastries). In short, I thought all of the pastries were just Okay, nothing really stood out about them. The lemon tart tasted like it could have used more lemon, but was okay. The eclair was nothing special, I thought the icing on it was too sweet. The macaroons were good, but $2.50 for a tiny cookie is way too much. This place is basically an overpriced bakery with semi-decent sweets.
Sure, the treats here are Instagram worthy, and maybe they were having an off night, but our desserts were ghastly. We picked the pistachio mousse and the peach mousse. Both mousses had a fairly smooth consistency, but literally no flavor or sweetness. It tasted of cream and nothing else. The gelatin on the peach tartlet under the mousse was the bad kind of rubbery, like old jello, and also without flavor. The pie crust on the tartlet seemed store bought and under cooked. They get stars for their flashy presentation, but I want my sweets to at least taste sweet, if nothing else.
I read some previous reviews regarding the service at this bakery, and while I had a good experience, I would trade service for quality of food in this case. My mother spent a lot of time in France and has very fond memories of the sweets and pastries, and she was delighted with what she tried here. They also have items like Anise or Rose pastiles and other bagged sweets in addition to baked goods. My go to is the raspberry tart, but the eclairs are fantastic as well.
I really enjoy this place and its overall aesthetic. Im vegan, but I definitely snuck a lemon macaroon, as it was the first one I ever had and I dont regret it, it was amazing. So Im sure the other desserts are just as good. Theres been a little crowd every time that Ive visited with friends. And Im almost positive that the desserts are imported in and arent baked or crafted fresh every day, but I may be wrong, and frankly who cares. I could see the potential of this place becoming an actual restuarant as they sell sandwiches and other small plates. Prices range starting from $0.50. Overall, its worth the visit if you happen to be having an outing at Ponce City Market!
Just ordered free delivery during shelter in place, and am so pleased! The quality is there and I can’t get pastries from anywhere else!!
Not worth it. I saw the worker put back pastries that should have been given to the customers. No thank you.
Eclairs always have a place in my belly, especially when they are dusted with gold! All of the desserts at Saint Germain Bakery are simply gorgeous and my vanilla eclair was quite tasty too!My friend ordered the rum cake and couldnt finish it due to an off taste it had.Visited 5/2018
Stopped by on lunch break noticed a nice selection I asked about a certain pastry on the counter. So asked a couple questions about what could I compare it to, she answered were a French bakery. I said definitely see that I’m asking about a comparison what would you call this ? She could only say again it’s French, so terrible service and poor knowledge of what she’s selling.
The coffee eclair was good, but the worst part was trying to interact with one of the employees. Right off the bat she didnt make eye contact, didnt smile, and barely said a word to me. Maybe she was having the worst day of her life, but the impression I got was that I wasting her time. From some other reviews, it sounds like this is a repeat offense. If you have a job, you give it your best. The way customers are treated is the most memorable part of the experience.
I had the best I ever tried chocolate Eclairs at this place. They were perfection cannot be any better. I will definitely try other sweets there also.
Mainly giving 5 stars because of the customer service!! Cynthia and Chelsea were delightful and had great conversation aside from pastries + got our kids to talk LOL BONUS!! Both went through descriptions of their favorite pastry rounding it off with the Creme Brulee tart which was amazing!! Great choice they gave me. I will definitely be back for another pastry and more.
Food is good but service is awful! Lady working today was extremely rude and rushed us. When we asked a question she would respond rudely and then rushed us asking what we wanted. Very disappointed with the service received today.
Authentic European bakery. I had a chocolate caramel tort which was amazing! Took home a baguette. Good thing this isnt near my home. REMEMBER - you can park underground where its always comfortable. Enter from North Avenue and find the down ramp. Cheers.
This little bakery was adorable! I purchased several macaroons and they are delicious. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely visit this bakery again.
CLOSEST THING TO EUROPE IN ATLANTA! Being from Vienna, this is the only place Ive found in Atlanta that can attempt to compete with home. Staples are always (shamelessly) the apricot pistachio tart, lemon tart, Napoleon and any danish. I find most American pastries to be far too sweet and to have a strange after-taste because of artificial flavourings. So if you like superrr sweet desserts, you may not love this place. But the chocolate mousse and ganache they use in their desserts is very rich and decadent. I have yet to meet someone that doesnt appreciate this bakery!Their quiche is also to die for. Creamy, hearty and with the flakiest of crusts! But my run always brings me back to the pastries!
7/15/2018 - Visited St.Germain and order 2 Macaroons. They were delicious, the person serving them was sour and rude. She was pre-occupied flirting with her male co-worker and ignoring me and 2 other clients that waited for 10 minutes while she chatted. She finally addressed us and seemed annoyed that we were bothering her. Ownership should consider changing weekend staff if they want to uphold any kind of quality service. The one star is because the macaroon was thoroughly enjoyable, otherwise this was a ZERO. Her attitude made the whole experience negative. She needs to get out of retail.
Seems like it would be a cool place. Unfortunately, the staff was too busy to make a sale. The pastries in the case looked great. Wish I could have bought one. Lots of other cool places at PCM to check out instead.
I was in St. Germain on Sunday with my daughter and friends for her birthday celebration. I was in line making my choices for 6 people. The lady to whom I was giving my order made a comment about how slow I was and tried to rush me. Once I sat down with my party, my friend told me she was making rude faces behind my back to the other patrons in line. This made me very upset. I went to the lady that had taken my order and asked to speak with management. She told me she was the owner. I WAS SHOCKED! An owner acting this way should never happen. I have no complaints with the food and beverage.
Excellent chocolate eclairs we also tried the raspberry with cream & apricot with pistachios pastry and they were delicious!! We will definitely stop by there again soon. Only thing I would suggest is the employees were not very attentive mostly playing around with each other and didn’t offer much assistance.
Wonderful authentic and delicious macchiato, perfectly tart and light raspberry and chocolate mousse. Customer service was good but it’s confusing ordering because the crowd gawking at the patisserie isn’t the line so do you push the window shoppers aside to actually be able to pick out your order or what?
Dear St.Germain,Merci Ami Beaucoup for that Apricot Cream Danish that I purchased from you Pastry shop.My first visit and you won my heart! It was the most scrumptious thing I have had from any bakery since I cant even remember.I ask only one thing of you.... Sil vous plait, do not make me fat... Un grande MerciSincerelemente,Deneen
