Great selection of bikes, even during the pandemic I was able to find a number of bikes when another store literally told me they were out of bikes and I was welcomed by eerily empty racks. Customer service is great too, not pushy at all, and very informative. Got to test ridebikes as much as I wanted before making a decision. Plus, I get free bike maintenance for buying there!

Bought 5 bikes there over the last 8 years and cant help to give this shop 3 stars. Some interactions were good, but too many times they didnt make me feel like a values customer. For example, charging me for little repairs, that I thought were covered by my long term relationship. Please improve your customer service. Today I bought another bike and decided deliberately not to give them my business.

Outback Bikes is a fantastic bike shop. I contacted them via email to see if they had the bike in stock I wanted (they did!) and put it on layaway until I was back in town to pick it up. When I arrived, every employee was attentive and helpful with the entire process. They walked me through all of the questions I had about the bike and showed me how *everything* on the bike functioned. It was helpful and made the process less intimidating. As a relatively new bike owner, this was a great experience and I am absolutely thrilled with my new bike! Id recommend Outback Bikes to anyone in the metro area looking for a bike.

I ordered a Giant hybrid road bike . I asked specifically if the bike would be tuned correctly and was told yes . When I arrived I was pointed to the bike and asked for my signature and told to have a nice day . When I got home I adjusted the seat and brakes to fit me, but when I went for a ride the gears were clicking and grinding which shouldnt be happening. Now I will have to take it to another shop to get it setup correctly. Not sure I would get anything serviced here if they cant set up a bike correctly. Very disappointed . I thought using a shop mike theirs things would we done correctly.

The customer service at Outback is horrible! Recently, I purchased a bike from Outback and within 48 hours I had to return the bike for service. Brian was my salesperson. His demeanor hinted of condescension and sarcasm on the day I arrived for my appointment, but I ignored it because he is young. When I returned to have the bike fixed he met me in the parking lot at 1545 hours. We discussed the issue with the bike and he took the bike, then I heard one of coworkers state, Theres always one at the last minute. The store closed at 1600 hours and customers were being waited on after 1600 hours. Later, I the statement was directed toward me. After waiting thirty minutes, I noticed that customers who arrived after me were leaving before me. I asked Brian about the extended wait and he stated, I was the last person to come in for bike repairs and he could not fix the bike and APPARENTLY there was only one bike mechanic working. There were five people working on bikes, therefore it was NOT APPARENT that only one was a bike mechanic. I was in no mood for Brians brand of foolishness anymore. Since there were no introductions and no explanation of the process, nothing was apparent. Furthermore, I am the one person who should not have been there at all! Implementing quality control prior to a sale would have curtailed this issue. An adjustment of the derailleur took less than two minutes. Later he apologized, but as far as Im concerned it was too little too late.

Outback Bikes is the best, local bike shop in the area. The employees are attentive to the needs of the customers and are very knowledgeable about their inventory of bikes. They are well-trained in customer service and bike service. My family owns 5 Outback bikes. The employees took their time to fit each of my familiy members correctly. With my sons being so tall, they had to try several sizes and make adjustments to find the right fit. A good fit makes for a great ride. And the service department is the best of the best. One last thing, during the lock down caused by Covid19, the owner went above and beyond to make sure that her employees were safe and healthy. Her protocols allowed the bike shop to continue to meet the communities need for bikes. Thank you for serving your community well!!!

Can no longer recommend them. There has seemingly been a turnover in staff here. Gone are the chill friendly guys and the appreciative atmosphere. Nope, they are now the most smug impersonal experience you could have at a bike store. If youre super paranoid about covid, youll love that they require a mask 15 feet away from you outside, and dont let you enter the store at all though. So youll fit right in. Anyone else who literally even goes to the grocery store inside, and knows how to safely shop in a store with masks, you may want to go somewhere else. Plus, they charged way too much to get my mountain bike fixed. And acted condescending while doing it. Nope. Ill go spend thousands elsewhere.

The owner was so helpful when I was buying my son a new bike that I went back to them a few days later to buy a bike for myself. They were operating very safely during the pandemic by doing their sales outside (by appointment), maintaining distance, asking customers to wear gloves and disinfecting the bikes after use. They were busy that day, and I was having a hard time making up my mind over two admittedly lower end bikes. I had a number of novice questions, which they happily answered. They were very patient with me and I never felt rushed or pressured to spend more than I wanted. Just wanted to say thanks!

Helpful community builders! They were kind, supportive and went the extra mile to help me. I needed a car-bike-rack to get an old rusty bike to the shop to fix. A beginner cyclist, I was frustrated and discouraged with what I’d found at Amazon. At Outback, they set me up with a great rack for my car taught me to install the rack on my car and strap in my bike. They also fixed up my rusty old bike for me and were very generous! I’ll definitely be upgrading with them.2021 Update: They got me in last min for flat tires and patiently coached me on changing the tube, the trick to the pump (I tried on my own and failed.) Awesome place to get air in your tires or to get a tire or tube changed but thats it. They do not properly fit you for the bike youre purchasing ($3000), so once you ride the bike twice and feel you need another size or try to do an even exchange they get real nasty with you. I was told I would have to pay a 30% restocking fee. Thats $900 to do an exchange on a bike of the same cost ($3000). I will never do business with outback bikes again. Very rude customer service!! The employee was very helpful in looking up bikes, but became confrontational when I told her I was looking to purchase a bike today. She stated well you know we are in the middle of a global pandemic. I explained to her that I understood that, but that I was only asking if it was possible to purchase today because each bike store that I called was handling the pandemic rules differently (e.g., some stores are allowing 10 people in at a time, curbside pickup etc.,). She rudely said well we choose customer safety over profit and proceeded to hang up the phone. I do think its admirable to be concerned about customer safety, but better customer service wouldve provided options, seeing as the latest review just said they purchased online and picked up in the same day. Based on the reviews, it appears that customer service is lacking at this place, dont waste your time! I would never spend a dime with them and suggest you dont either!.

This is my local bike shop. Ive visited them for many repairs and they have done great work. Their mechanics are polite and helpful. The salespeople are kind and friendly. The reason why I do not give more stars is that I think their prices are too high. This store is not a place that you can go for affordability. Even their accessories. I think their cheapest bike lock is $30. Lights at least $15.While they certainly offer quality that commensurates with their prices, I think Outback caters mostly to those that ride for luxury. They provide thousand dollar bikes for weekend distance riders, not hundred dollar bikes for those that need them to get around town. Perhaps if this were Druid Hills or Emory, this would be okay, but not in Little 5 Points. It doesnt match the communities needs.I would still go for them for repairs, though you could probably get those done a bit cheaper elsewhere too.

I had a great experience with Outback. When I came in I was greeted by Josie with a friendly attitude. I knew I was looking to buy a bike, so that probably made it easy on her. I had also done my research so I knew I wanted to try out a Specialized Sirrus. They let me take a long test ride. I wasnt thrilled with the ride, but I had noticed another bike on the rack that I wanted to try out. They didnt have my frame size, so Josie brought out the upgraded model, but had the same frame geometry. I loved it and Josie had them build up the exact bike in my frame size so I could test ride it.When I came back a few days later to test ride and ultimately buy, I had another pleasurable experience with every employee I interacted with. I was impressed with the spaciousness of their shop (some bike shops can be very crowded) and their selection. My only gripe is that they put the front tire on backwards. Probably rushing to get the bike built for me. They shouldve checked this beforehand which is the reason for my 4 star review. Nevertheless, I will be coming back for my next bike related purchase.

Excellent customer service, easy to talk to about your needs/interest/price range and so helpful. Prices are also reasonable compared to other local shops in the area. Definitely worth stopping in!From reading all of the critical reviews it seems like personal pride is the issue and not on the part of the store. Its perfectly acceptable to admit that you dont know what you are talking about. Not everyone is an expert on everything. Unhelpful and condescendingHad two bad experiences with two separate mechanics. The first time was when I went for a tuneup because I was due. I specifically asked for help adjusting the limits on the front derailleur because I had tried and was having problems. $70 later, I picked up my bike to find that nothing had changed with the shifting quality on the front derailleur. I just took it back in and got treated like an idiot. The mechanic (a different one) interrupted me while I was explaining what was up, grabbed my bike, adjusted it, and said, “There you go. No charge.” As if he was doing me a favor, when I should not have had to come in a second time in the first place. Because I like bikes and am curious, I asked him about how the adjustment mechanism on the derailleur works. His answer was evasive, and he told me, “Take my word for it.” Sure, but I’ll take my money elsewhere, thanks. You can run a bike shop without being condescending to people who like bikes but don’t know as much as you do. I’ll look for a place that knows how to run a business without keeping its customers in the dark.

I was quite disappointed yesterday. I walked in with the intent of buying a bike or two and possibly a trailer for my son, but left extremely frustrated. My wife and I walked in and werent even acknowledged the whole time we were in the store (~15-20 mins). We looked at a few bikes on our own but were hoping to get some assistance and maybe even try out a bike or two. Not a single employee acknowledged our presence or asked if we needed any assistance during our entire visit to this store. Now, I guess this would have been fine if we noticed that this is how they treat everyone that comes in the door. But instead we noticed that multiple people came in and out of the store and were immediately greeted and offered assistance. We even had an employee walk right by us and not even utter a single word. My wife was quite upset. She was the true reason we left because I probably would have just tried to buy a bike anyway. But she helped me come to my senses and Im glad she did. I dont know if race or assumption of economic status had anything to do with it but it surely came across that way. Everyone that received service possessed far less melanin than we did. And if that lead to assumptions of our financial status then too bad for Outback because we are definitely in a position and had plans to spend quite a bit of money with you guys. I was quite disappointed because I truly wanted to buy a bike and deliberately chose this particular store since it is so close to our home. I am obviously taking my business and any future maintenance elsewhere. I recommend any person of color do the same.

Everything went wrong at once, luckily I was moving slowly. I also overpaid for labor that I had to redo myself. I’ll never use outback again. Would not recommend.

Very nice people; great shop. Its a twinge expensive because of its location (you pay for convenience), but I do continuously go back.

Im a casual rider and have a road bike thats nothing special. I took the bike to outbreak after having gotten two flat tires. I stood in the repair area with my bike for a few minutes but the staff seemed confused and rather than help just stared at me until I finally said, do you fix bikes? The mechanic was rude and, after amusing himself by making fun of my bike, he told me that I not only needed new tubes but also tires? There are enough bike shops in Atlanta that I dont have to deal with bad service and rude staff.

It is wonderful to hear a small business owner be so passionate about community involvement and family! This is one of Atlantas best!

If you buy something there and it doesnt work out in some way, they will work to replace it. In my case a battery for an expensive rechargeable bicycle night light that loss its lighting strength, even though it happened over the one year point, which was the companys guarantee. They have also done things like give me an old but nice suede bicycle seat for an older bike that I was selling one time.) Even though I have not ever bought a bike from them, they have no problem working on my bikes. I probably will buy a bike from them soon, since Ive witnessed that they do apparently provide free tune ups for life when you buy a bike there --- def. not something all shops can do. They have a wide selection of bikes in the store, which is also something that is not found at many bike shops. Id like to seem them get some more classic components though like MKS pedals.. They do have a wonderful selection of brooks saddles, both leather and non leather, as well as other brands. Update..this review was before the assitant manager moved to Savannah. Everything changed after that. I even bought a bike there and they did not honor time ups additionally I bought clipless pedals there that a young worker recommended for me that did not work at all and the owner would not in anyway let me exchange. Ivrate this bike store only 2 stars now a real disappointment after the loss of q long term employee

I stopped in at Outback Bikes to shop for a new commuting bicycle and was met with the most unhelpful associates ever. I walked into the shop and wasnt meet with a greeting or look. When I was walking through the aisles of bicycles I kept on glancing at the front desk to see if one of the two associates would notice me to help answer some questions but they never did. Both associates were talking to each other and wanted nothing to do with me. I eventually approached one to see if he could answer some questions but he was even less educated at answering questions then the price tags. I eventually just left and will never return.

This is the best bike shop around. I purchased a Specialized Tarmac road bike from this shop about 2 years ago. Last year I brought the bike in for a free servicing (free servicing is the best!) and the guys in the shop discovered 2 cracks in the Carbon Fiber frame (most likely damage caused by me and not defective product). Even though I was not covered under the factory warranty, Outback bikes contacted Specialized who sent me a brand new replacement bike (which was a few levels up from my original bike). I had to pay the difference between my old bike and the new bikes wholesale cost but it was a steal! They even swapped out the saddle when they discovered that I needed a different size at no cost.I will not go anywhere other than Outback bikes for all of my future biking needs!

Buyer beware!!! There are NO REFUNDS on bikes purchased at this establishment. I might not be in the know that this is standard for bike stores or this store in general, but I know that with most major purchases you can either return or exchange an item if you arent satisfied on the same day of purchase at least. My husband and I visited the store after seeing the good reviews it got and its own website boasting that is was voted best bike store in ATL by CL for the past 13 years (also NOT on the website is its NO REFUNDS POLICY) . I called ahead to see if they had a specific model in an XL frame for my husband. They had it in stock so we went to take a look. The store does have a lot of bikes, but they are packed in tight and the lighting leaves much to be desired. My husband test drove the bike and liked it enought to buy it. The price of the bike was comparable to another local store that had the same bike but not in my husbands size. We didnt realize until we got home with the bike that it was not the same bike that we had priced out at the previous store. This bike was a lesser model that had wheel brake instead of disk brakes. In the gloom of the store, and the complete non-assistance of the store clerk who didnt know anything about the brand, bike or options (although, I do think it might of been his first day as he didnt know how to do the paperwork either), it didnt get pointed out. Yes, one of us should have realized that the bike didnt have the brakes that we were looking for, but what irritates me the most is that after getting home and calling the store to see if we could get a refund or exchange of the bike with the disk brakes, we were told no...flat out no.I am all about supporting my local community shops when I can, but part of that desire to do so is based on the idea that these shops support their clients as well. I did not feel like we had the support from the staff in making sure that we were purchasing the right bike for us, or for making things right after the fact. This is not how a business grows good relationships with its customers and that is how a sucessful community business is run.

Walked in with my girlfriend, got great help and service, walked out with her bike. Couldnt be simpler. Great area for test riding. Everyones always really helpful here and really relaxed, but still very helpful. This is my go-to shop.I just read quite a few bad reviews...Ive actually always had a good experience here, I think they have a really good selection. One time I had some friends coming to town and Atlanta Cycles (on piedmont) screwed me over by forgetting to order a part...2 days before my friends were coming, they still had not ordered it. I took the bike to Outback, they got the part and I was ready to go with my friends.Theyve also gave me tune ups, trued my wheels, etc., and I was in a SERIOUS rush. I think theyre pretty good at service!!
