This place in its huge area has rare items I could not find elsewhere. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Their sales are awesome.

I was pleasantly surprised by the size and selection once I got inside. They have a varied selection of supplies and tools. The prices are fair especially since I usually pay shipping for the same items. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely return in the future.

Great place to shop for art stuff especially if you are a CDC-COVID-19-guidance groupie like me. If the staff paid as much attention to their customers as they did to enforcing the scrub-your-hands-wear-your-mask-stay-the-hell-away-from-me-rules... well gee, shopping there would be more life-threateningly dangerous and less like a Turkish prison experience! Art fun for the whole family!!!

My favorite store for art supplies! The employees are always friendly and helpful when I want to try new mediums and have no idea where to start. They’ve always helped me find the best solutions and art hacks and help me find the best deal. I always feel like I’m a welcome fellow artist rather than someone to sell things to. Now that theyve installed some proper lighting, its a whole better place! Always loved Flax, from back when I did art for a living, right up to now when I do art for Art. Theres only one thing I wish I could improve though, getting into and out of the place on Northside Drive is a white-knuckle death-match. Be quick on the gas pedal and pray the other guy lets you out or in, or at least SEES you before they t-bone you into the evening news. Flax on!

I love this place. I found a lot of photography related items ie cotton canvas, mats, backdrops and the like. The top floor has a HUGE sale on frames and this particular Sam Flax has a custom framing service. The prices are competitive. I give sam flax 4 stars. The staff seemed bored and it nearly felt like we were bothering them with basic questions.

It’s a great art shop! I’ve been with them for over 3 years. My large murals in the Dakotas would forever be grateful to Samflax. I had a bad experience with the front desk personnel today ( African American lady). Seems she was having a bad day. She would yell at incoming shoppers to sanitize their hands and maintain a 6 ft distance from the desk when checking out....plus other unfriendly gestures. I’ve had this experience twice. There is a more polite way it could have been done.

Awesome staff and even better prices and selection

Me and my son went the night before grand opening and the day of. Both days the staff (multiple individuals) were very attentive, helpful, and patient with my son and I. I got some advice on acrylics and calligraphy and got plenty of other supplies. We had a great experience and will definitely be using Sam Flax for most of our art needs!

I bought a self-healing cutting mat 18x24 and it was on sale for $12.60!!! Joanns fabric store for the same size was 30 plus dollars. Im a happy girl.

The place is absolutely gorgeous. After being around supermarkets such as Target and Publix, its nice to see that this store have a sense of atmosphere. It was amazing just to explore the place. I went an employee to ask for markers and she made the interaction fun yet educational. For any artist out there, I definitely recommend this place.

A place for the serious (and not so) artist to find their supplies. From basics to professional quality. I especially love their selection of fine specialty papers from Italy and Japan. They offer a variety of classes from watercolor to resin pouring. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. A great haunt for any artist.

Best art sales, and the mystery bags are always a plus when offered at purchase area. The paper selection is great although Id like to get it by the pound instead of single sheets its better price wise. Online is better for that but even online they are awesome. I wish they had more in store, for work in progress.

I visited Sam Flax for the first time today. I am amazed at the quality, selection and how well organized it is. We were immediately welcomed when we walked in and asked if there was anything they could help us with - and help they did! I was taken directly to the watercolor paper I asked about. Sophie, the owner helped me and she knew exactly what questions to ask and was able to make excellent recommendations. She didn’t immediately point me to the most expensive items either, she is really knowledgeable about what they have and how best to use it for what your individual needs are.They even have a place set up for you to test out their quality paintbrushes! No more paying for a brush that doesn’t work the way you want it to. Additionally, they have a nice selection of decorative paper.They even give discounts to teachers, students, military, etc.This is my new go-to spot for anything creative!

The staff over here are very courteous, professional and helpful. This store also offers student discount so if you are a student dont forget to take your student id to this place. This place beside from art materials also have many arts book and decorative greeting cards. Its the best place to buy your art material.

The selection and range of art supplies here is incredible. From professional to amateur, every artist will find just what they need. I work in oils and was thoroughly impressed with the selection of oil paint brands and wide range of colors, brushes, and various types of canvases. Heaven for artists of all types!

Arguably one of the best art stores if not the best art store in Atlanta. Be sure to go upstairs and check out all the frames available at great prices. I picked up a solid mahogany picture frame for a 16 x 20 print for only $20. Be careful- if you have anything to do with arts and crafts you can easily spend a lot of money here!

I really liked the old location, plenty of parking and a overwhelming selection. Limited parking in the new location and hard to exit onto the street. The inside is a little tight for shopping.

TL;DR - great craft store, use your student ID for huge discounts!The store is located right off peach tree so make sure you go off peak hours or else traffic will likely be a nightmare. There is plenty of parking in the complex which makes it very convenient!The store itself is wonderful. Very clean and well organized. They have insane sales, especially on canvas that cannot be beat. Ive often asked the staff questions about what products are best for certain projects and they have always answered my questions without fail (and their advice has always worked!). The student discount also gets you a good deal!This store is hands down my favorite craft store in Atlanta. I would definitely recommend giving it a try!

One of my favorite stores in the Atlanta area. It is conveniently located for me, just a 3 block walk north of my office so I stop in for artistic inspiration usually once every few weeks. A great selection of art supplies. I mostly draw and sketch and they have a huge variety of pens, markers, pencils and other tools for my whims. They also have a great stationery and gift selection. Staff is top notch.

Okay, this is the one store that actually had the special acetate pages you use in photo emulsion screen-printing. I have visited several art stores and none of them carry them except this one!! They also have silk DYES which I couldve used several weeks ago but still!! Do wish they carried silk paints though.

Weird set up and poorly designed layout. I had trouble locating alot of the items I was shopping for. The organization didnt seem to Flow. Need better merchandising and better vendor displays. The staff is great and very helpful.

So small and the many choices that I remember are not there. They used to have great prices and I did not mind the drive from stone mountain because I know I could get a deal. I think I will shop Michaels locally. The prices are comparable and I wont have to drive as far.

Sam Flax is a great store, but... The new location is AWFUL. It is complete chaos trying to find anything in the new locations layout. Really bad idea to move it to that location. I love Sam Flax and they have great selections, but will not be shopping there anymore based on the horrible layout of the store and the horrible location. Sorry...

Best art store in the metro hands down. Dont forget to go upstairs for clearance goodies. They have the best selection of decorative papers in 700 miles.

I was looking for thin black, white and pink ribbons and found exactly what I wanted upstairs in the clearance section. The young lady that helped me was so kind and helpful. I wish I would have gotten her name, because she exemplified excellent customer service.

The service at this Sam Flax is the best I have had at ANY RETAILER. Extremely helpful, friendly and not pushy to sell, patient to let me try the Herman Miller chairs for several HOURS! Ask for Zack or Joe to get the best customer service.Also, the selection of art supplies and furniture is excellent and makes this a store I will return to many times.

This is a professional art supply shop.As a designer, I remember going here to get supplies back in the day when you actually needed markers, rulers and media to do mock ups and mechanicals. It used to be very much geared toward the art student and professional artist.Nowadays this place has become a bit more geared toward the arts and crafts crowd, but make no mistake, they still have plenty of pro-level equipment for everything from sculpting, painting, architecture, design, and more. Albeit a bit pared-down.I have watched so many true art supply shops go out of business over the last 20 years, this is one of the last standing in the metro area.

The store is smaller than it was before on Peachtree but it hasnt lost its quality.Lots of great items and selection for any artist.

The move to the location is fine but it is too dark in there. Need bright lighting thru out store.

This is the place, that has it all art in all forms for professionals and also for those that are upcoming and inspired to be artist and I mean every area is fully supplied.

Insane selection of just about everything, but seemed unfinished. Clutter, unpacked boxes, general chaos. The spunky bob haircut little woman and the checkout lady were both rude, but the large friendly gentleman in the framing department made up for it. Tighten up the screws, and this place would be fantastic.

I wish I knew how to use half of the stuff here. If youre into art or art supplies go here asap. Its like being in a candy shop. There are walls and walls of specialty paper, paint, spray paint, canvases...I think they also have a floor or two of discount merchandise and they teach classes. Its worth checking out if your craftsy.
