Friendly staff, good selection, very well kept store.

Every time I go to the gamestop in athens I find certain employees just talking instead of actually working. Theres hardly any good selections of games and I always end up going online and ordering from other websites. Gamestop used to be a decent place but they need to shape up otherwise I dont see them making it.

For some reason this place as well as walmart at 4 different locations are sold out of ps4 controllers and at christmas I bought one for $60 and now they are $100? The cheapest one I saw was $80 and I know this isnt gamestops fault but I thought yall might know why the prices increased so much they didnt cost that much when they first came out with the ps4s they only cost $60 then and normally the price falls esp since the ps5s are now out.

I went in hopes of finding a game for my switch. Most things werent priced and what was priced was too expensive. There were almost no used games and the few they did have were priced the same as the new versions of the same game. Beyond that, we werent even greeted until we were walking out the door. Displays werent working, there were no sales at all going on. It didnt take long to remember why I never come to these stores.

I love this GameStop. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Pretty good selection. I am usually able to find the game I want and often have the choice of new or pre-owned.

Great and knowledgable people. Had everything I wanted to buy and answered a few of my newbie questions.

I placed an order over 400 dollars and paid for Express shipping. After 3 days I noticed they messed up my email and when I went in to change it. The GM was very rude, and talked down to me. When I pointed out how they messed up my email he didnt do anything about it, nor correct it. When looking online at my order status I noticed the payment method had been set to giftcard when I used a debit card. So even if I cancelled they would give me a hard time about getting my money back. Its been a week and have still not recieved my order, I will Never shop with gamestop again.This is a sad excuse for a company.

They have been rude and picky about what they will accept and not. They wouldnt accept a game just because the case had a little marks on it. If thats the best they can do then they need new employees

This is the WORST place in all of Athens. Ill never, EVER spend another red cent at this store again. Someone here swindled my kid and the manager here would not take responsibility for it at all. If you are thinking of sending your kids in on their on, dont. You better go in with them. Or better yet, shop anywhere else. ANYWHERE ELSE, would be better.

I am a gamer and have 3 boys who also love to play video games. What made me decide to write this review is that I realized Ive been shopping at the Athens Game Stop ever since they opened, and Ive not once had a bad experience. The selection is always great - they seem to always have what I need even when the BB (big box) stores are out of stock. But what really makes this store great is the staff. They are very knowledgeable, from recommending a game for myself based on games I have previously enjoyed to choosing a game my younger kids can play without it being too difficult or contain content Id rather them not be exposed to. Whoever is running this store is doing a mighty fine job! A+

This used to be my favorite 5 star place but after my last trip never again. Id rather drive out of my way to a decent GameStop than deal with people like Eric who was there today. I bought 2 games and had them no longer than a few hours when I realized neither was what I expected. Take them back and he violates his own return policy. I had my receipt, was WELL within 30 days but still no. I just want to know why?

Always great here. Could tell the cashier was new, but he was still sweet and trying hard! They always go above and beyond for their customers at this store.

I enjoy this GameStop a lot. Most of the employees have been there for so long, and I know them on a first name basis just because of how long theyve been there. They are very knowledgeable and dont pressure you into making purchases that you know youll regret. If you ask for suggestions, theyre good at giving you something that fits what you want. I dont have bad experiences here, and Im happy to say that.

Great store. The guy working when I went, cant remember his name, was nice. Helpful. I recommend going if you havent. Yeah the Red Skull figure I got from there is great.

Eric is an amazing manager. He is always very helpful and professional, and gladly answers all questions asked. Im not sure what these negative reviews about him are about. Obviously they are scrubs who are mad because they cant get more than $0.15 for their original Xbox copy of NBA 2k7.

Not a very large selection of games. Kinda just the more popular games. Prices some what okay you could get a used game for about $35 or the same game brand new at walmart across the street. It just kinda a hit or miss. The promos they run from time to time are when you really want to shop.

The guys at this location are awesome. Helpful and friendly. The store was organized very well, and clean. The game selection was great for new games, and decent for used, but its a small store, for a small town.

Joe was very knowledgeable about games, and you can tell that Eric actually cares about customers

Called and asked about 7 days to die to see if he could test the game to make sure it would upload or even ps4 would recognize the game, since my previous experience at another gamestop was not what anyone would desire (both product didnt work and the replacement didnt work either ended in full refund.) 2 hours drive bought the game drove all the way back guess what did the same thing the last one did and i tested it on 2 other ps4 to make sure still didnt work. Now i get to drive back to another gamestop to get another full refund. Will not shop with them again

Gamestop has a lot of cool games and merchandise, the store is clean but, the gentlemen that work in there are not very personable and they talk to women like they dont know anything. They really need to work hard on their social skills.

This gamestop is great the employee I delt with today wasnt worried about making a sell but making me happy. He contacted another gamestop to get me what I wanted when he could have sold me what was in stock. He is a veteran and still upholds the military values while working here. As a veteran myself I will return to this gamestop and do the most I can to buy and keep him employed. This man made my visit more memorable than any retail sort Ive ever been to.

I have visited this store many times to purchase games and I have always gotten great customer service. This time I bought a pre-owned Xbox unit as a gift, however, I returned it due to the 7 day return policy. I decided I would rather pay for a new Xbox. I presented my original receipt and my photo I.D. The associated said a cash refund will be given however, he requested to see the card that was used. I thought this was rather odd. He explained that he wanted to make sure that the right person would get the money. I was given the money. He proceeded to cut my receipt in half so that he could give me the coupon portion. I then requested for the entire receipt which had other purchase. Because of this experience I will no longer shop here. I wouldn’t want my love ones to experience the same hassle.

Great place changed up my layaway product ended up saving 70 on a console and got a game

Turned in an Xbox one s for a rebate for the new xbox one x deal. The manager Eric was dismissive and rude for no apparent reason. Maybe he was having a bad day complaining I had cleared my Xbox before selling it, yes I did to protect my personal information. His demeanor and expressions were even rude to my wife when we asked about a Nintendo switch for our daughter. Felt uncomfortable with this entire exchange. Oh yeah he claimed there was a something wrong with the Xbox I turned in and tried charging me $35, but one of his assistant said he failed to insert the HDMI properly. Needless to say, I will be in touch with someone either at corporate or if its a franchise at minimum the owner. Maybe his level of interaction with adults only involves video games and hes failed to grow up.
