Got a call 1.5 days later, my 2008 Hummer H3 Alpha had a completely rebuilt and upgraded transmission that worked perfectly for a solid price. Included with that was a 1 year unlimited mile warranty. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about my experience with this shop and I will tell anyone around to come here for their transmission problems.

Became very rude after having to warranty my transmission. Recently input my transmission they put together for the third time and reverse and second gear are both gone. Will not use their service any longer.

I took my 03 explorer in and was told i would need the trans completely rebuilt. Paid over 2k for that. About two weeks later, same issue came up. Took it back, replaced solenoid packs. 1 month later, same symptoms. Took it in and was told it should be good to go. About 7 months later, same issues, same error codes, same slip in gear change. Eventually had other thermostat issue, im leaving 2 stars because they did replace the thermostat housing for me which is outside of their scope of work. They did however say they had no clue how to tell if i had a cracked head or not. Pick up the truck and its still slipping and spitting coolant out of the exhaust. All in all, they never fixed what they said they did. A complete rebuild would not cause the exact symptoms i brought it in for. Use these guys at your own risk. My mother in law also took her envoy there. She had very similar issues. A lot of money spent, still ended up taking it elsewhere to get the job done.

Had transmission trouble with my SUV. It would slip when shifting. Smith transmission not only fixed the problem, but their customer service was excellent, price was fair, and the owner was very helpful in explaining to me what was wrong and why it happened. He even had charts on the wall in the office showing the internal workings of a transmission. Vehicle repairs are a necessity in my world, but Smith Transmission made my experience as painless as possible. I strongly recommend these guys.

I took my 99 Chevy Express in to have transmission rebuilt. He acted from the first as if he was doing me a favor for working on my work van. He was supposed to rebuild completely. 3 days later I was driving it and it was doing the EXACT thing I took it in for. It was slipping and wouldnt go into gear. Do you suppose he rebuilt it? I dont think so. So I carried back down there, my work van, and 5 days later they got it on the lift. I guess since he already got his money he didnt get in a hurry. I was out of work for a whole week. Got the van back and this time seemed to work ok except it was leaking a quart of oil a day. Didnt leak a drop before I had it fixed. He didnt even give me the option of putting a rear main in. 13 months later, transmission just went out going down the road. He didnt even change out the torque converter. Use Smith at your own risk. Shady group.

They told me up front they were about two weeks backed up, but like auto body shops, the good ones typically are backed up a little. Hadnt ever had any transmission work done outside of a dealer under warranty, but my gut was telling me this was the right shop, especially for a VW.My 05 Jetta TDI wagon w/4spd auto was experiencing an occasional slip in second gear in the mornings and throwing a P0732 code. They rebuilt the transmission and works like new. They took the time to explain all they had found and what they did. Cost seemed fair and honest and was under the estimate. Drove it hard to Bham two days later to hand off to my son, who then drove on to Auburn. Performed great, and he also reported good performance.
