To be fair, I have purchased some treasures at North County Christian Thrift Shop (NCCTS) but it feels like I sell my soul each time I enter. This place burdens me with its negative vibe.The oppressive atmosphere that permeates this establishment makes any bargain questionable. I am confident Jesus would not shame a shoplifter by calling her a thief and posting her picture TWICE on the front door. (I kid you not. Check out the picture I took of the front door on Friday, October 1st.)At every turn, there are signs about leaving backpacks at the front, opening bags, missing price tags, and instructions to smile because you are on camera. I asked a clerk about all of the passive-aggressive Smile, you are on camera signs littered throughout the store. Her comment referenced a homeless guy stealing a shirt.I have shopped second-hand stores for 40 years. I also owned consignment and resale stores and managed a thrift store for a church. My point being I am not your average Joe thrifter. I know this business. Needless to say, I have never ever encountered such hostile undertones in a store. Sadly, this nonprofit purports to be affiliated with Christianity.In addition to the negative climate, the staff, including the frazzled manager, seems either overworked, underpaid, or just sick of people. Are we a burden to ring up? Do you assume everyone is lying or changing tags? Consequently, I am always apologetic and weary while I complete my transaction. Not once have I left NCCTS feeling positive, uplifted, or encouraged.The only thing this store does right on the Jesus front is the contemporary Christian music it plays.

I have to say, I havent been treated so disrespectfully in a very long time. I called last week to see if they were accepting donations for clothing and household items. The woman I spoke to was very pleasant and helpful. I had never been and needed dropoff info.FFWD to my drop off - a younger man (early/mid 20s Im guessing) was incredibly rude. He shoved a cart at me and turned away - after filling it, I said that I would need more one, he said well, theyre right there and pointed. I was a little preturbed by his rudeness, but kept thinking Im doing a good deed here, just let it go. When I was finished filling 3 carts, I rolled the last one up and he literally turned his back to me and walked away. When I asked do I need to do anything else?, he shook his head and again walked away. I happened to notice a blank receipt and coupon sitting under a reception bell on the cardboard table - and took it before I drove away. Im hoping someone has a little Come to Jesus talk with this young man, and explains that he is a representative of the business. I do hope the best for the thrift store, but hope they are able to retain more grateful and friendly employees.

Friendly cashiers and great finds for reasonable prices. They have everything marked with a color and for some days they will offer a discount for everything marked with a specific color, like everything marked green is 30 % off for example.

Great store with great friendly employees. Prices are good and there is a super sale the first Saturday of the month. They take donations until 4:00 most days. They even have a sea train to dispose of old mattresses. You just have to call to make sure its not full.

Love this store. I come in with my little guy who loves finding treasures in the toy section. He even does chores to earn money just to spend in this store. My little guy calls it the treasure store.

I bought something that unknown to me was broken. 15 dollars out the door. They refused to give me store credit. They said no returns. This is a chritian store. Stealing from Gods people. Shame!

They have good prices on their stuff

They asked for my ID to use a debit card for a 5.00 purchase. The excuse given was that its a touchless system and to just scan the card, however Id rather just enter a pin over showing my personal info to a rando. edit: it was 5.00 ... asking for ID for such a small transaction is excessive and intrusive.

I have visited all the local stores for decades.This is a good one for me. I have had very little problems ever.. Im a book aholic..The cashier was so cute and friendly .I handed over one of my books, she said she had been looking for it . I can find more treasures .

The people there are very friendly, amidst with everything going on. You do have to find the bargains though, for example 2.50 I believe was the price of DVDs, which I consider high due to the current times of streaming

This is a nice thrift store. They have quite a bit inside. They offer everything and anything. They have old electronics, cameras, a lot of useful cables. We were able to get a really nice recliner for $50. They have plants and dishes, clothes. The staff is normally very nice. There is never really a crowd here and since it is a thrift store you will find the occasional gem if you look often and hard enough.

Thank you everyone. I was just in for their 60% off sale and they are so welcoming, helpful, and just friendly. I feel like family and so glad to have you all in our community. Debi and the other person at the register on Saturday the 6th at around 2 were amazing. After a while of not going (close to a year). I was still remembered, love it!

I love all the ladies in this store. I feel so happy every time I go there and feel even better by the personal treatment they show each customer. They are friendly and you can feel there is a specialness about each one of those ladies. The store is clean and decorated so nicely. Thanks NCCTS for the effort you all put into your store and customers.Update.. I still love this store. When you are having a bad day its a great place to go, the assistant manager there helps you out any way she can, either its praying or a little discount. She makes you feel special! Still clean with prices so much lower then other places!

When I first started going there their prices were really good for used stuff but Im noticing theyre getting a little silly on some of their prices. Everything is donated to them so I expect them to keep the prices low at all times especially if its used/missing pieces or just dirty. They definitely out beat Goodwill 100% but Im hoping they dont turn out like them 🤷 other than that the staff is great. Totally sweet, always working. You never see them just standing there doing nothing.

Fun place to browse around. Limit my spending. Some items are compared e bay . However, ebay is a auction platform for millions of viewers. This is a thrift shop. Which means things should be priced at a thrift shop price. So, back up on the shelve I put them after a price check. That said, staff are friendly, cheerful, and you never know who you will bump into.

This was my go to thrift store in the county. Like several other reviewers have posted the prices are going up to be more in line with the GoodWill stores.Many things are priced similar to a new with warranty regular retail store clearance pricing.Its understandable the store wants to make as much as possible and has overhead, but thrift stores are for thrifty folks.What got me to send the disappointed review was the additude and treatment from the staff ( just one actually - the assistant manager who will remain nameless.), all others have really been great.Looking at Yelp reviews for the store this is a reoccurring comment/complaint. Since 2014 on Yelp reviews there are many comments about rude staff.My actual situation was I was first admonished for not placing my items to be purchased in the correct area. Okay I started putting them there.Then a tea pot had a crack in it so it was taken to the cashier (asst manager) who was nearly indignant about my pointing the problem out. The item was unusable and needed to be disposed of.Lastly the final nail was taking up a set of pots individually marked it was clear some were mis-priced as all were the same price except two. One had an extra piece so it was a little more and the smallest pot was marked higher than the next two bigger pots. The asst manager actually wanted to separate clearly marked sets and attempt to charge more than was marked. Like having a thermos marked at a certain price then unscrewing the cup on top and asking for 50% more counting the cup as an extra item.To be fair to the asst manager I did not ask Do you really want to send a customer away without buying anything at all instead of correcting obvious mistakes. She was abrasive and not at all flexible.I followed up with the manager a day later before posting this. Had there not been so many similar yelp comments I would have simply shopped elsewhere. Frequently ownership prefers some feedback.Things change and we need to flow with the changes.Best of luck to North County Christian Thrift.I hope you folks are tremendously successful.

A wonderful place for looking for that special thing that needs to be a part your home. You meet smart shoppers in pursuit of that mystery item wishing to be adopted by a deserving household.

You need it, they probably have it. Hugh clean store and tons of merchandise. Staff go out of their way to assist in servicing you. I recommend you check it out. Youll be smiling

Great selection of VHS tapes

Called on 9/17/13 to purchase sofa I had seen. I had wanted to speak to a manager about payment and possible pick up. After being tossed about for minutes I was told someone was thinking about buying sofa. I had already expressed my interest and let Susan know on the phone that I was ready with credit card information. She proceeded to put her hand over the phone and have a conversation with another manager; am assuming it was Julie Most of the conversation consisted of I dont know what to do and the lady on the phone saw it first.I was then told that I should call back at 5pm that evening when a decision would be made and that the sofa would be put on hold until 1pm the following day. I call at 5pm only to find out from another volunteer that the sofa had been sold and that Susan was not in. Needless to say I was livid.As far as I am concerned it was a legal verbal contract and North County Thrift Store broke that agreement. As far as not taking credit card info over phone or squabbling over when item should be picked up all that is irrelevant since they had an interested party on the line and choose to blatantly lie to me and sell piece behind my back.I would suggest that whomever owns this shop invest in some customer care training and people with decision making skills. As far as Im concerned the shop is run by incompetent, lying volunteers.I was choose to spend my money elsewhere. I will no longer darken their doorstep and will discourage others from doing so. Go to any other thrift store. North County is full of them. You deserve to be treated with respect. How hard is it to say; We are going to go with the indecisive woman in the shop as opposed to you who has already made a decision and is willing to buy.If I could give this review and Susan negative stars status I would. Dear Susan, grow a pair and invest in some people skills and integrity.

Associates are super friendly and down to earth. They have everything, if you can find it. They dont ask a lot for their items. Truly a helpful giving thrift store.

Everyone is saying how nice these people are?? I guess i went on a bad day.My husband frequents the store a few times a month. I go with him from time to time. Yesterday a sweater i was interested in was missing all buttons but one, so i figured i would just ask for a discount, since it was the same price as all sweaters, and replace the buttons.When i got to the register and started to mention the buttons the woman litterally swiped it off the counter from my had and threw it in the trash, before i could even finish my sentence. I was a bit taken a-back but still wanted the sweater so continued by telling her “you dont have to throw it away, i was willing to purchase it but not at full price”. She then offered 50% off in a very rude tone, i agreed and just got out of there. Wont be going back. And i doubt my husband will either as he said they have become increasingly rude the more he shops there.Response to “owners reply”, i appreciate you checking each review. That is a great business practice. However your suggestion is not helpful since the manager was also very rude, in a hurry to leave and cut me short of another item i was going to purchase but did not since she had no time or tact. She was rude to my husband in a seperate part of the store while he was trying to load furniture being purchased bcuz of her rush. Then had no time for me inside the store. I dont know if she knew we were together or not but i may have bought more items if the manager would have had the time and courtesy to speak to me.Like i said it must have been a bad day for everyone there because they all seemed angry and in a rush.

Everything is so organized. I actually found a 8mm projector to watch some movies my father had and want to put on CD.
