We live in Portland Oregon and had been searching for a low mileage Land Rover LR3 for a very long time. Our intention is to modify it somewhat and use it extensively in our retirement for long off-road overland trips. When searching the internet my wife found that Universal had a 2008 model with ~49,000 miles which was also well priced.Having searched extensively and having viewed many local models that fell very short of the dealers descriptions and were over-priced we were really rather skeptical and nervous of purchasing from a second hand car dealer clear across the other side of the continent.Without going into too much detail, this could not have been a better experience for us. Andrey, was very responsive and reassuring and always dead straight with us. He arranged for a vehicle inspection by a local independent mechanic and immediately had repairs made based on the mechanics report which included changing control arms. All this without question and without changing price even though he had already agreed to discount the purchase price. Additionally, Andrey made paperwork simple and Fed-Exd paperwork to us on a couple of occasions even once we had arrived back in Oregon and had to make some paperwork tweaks so we could register the vehicle in Oregon.Long story short, we took a red eye flight to Boston and an Uber to Ashland. Andrey had left the key hidden for us and we collected the car at about 6:00 Am in the morning and then started the drive to Oregon via our sons wedding in Colorado? The car was spotlessly clean, and Andrey had even filled the gas tank to the top. The car met all our hopes and drove flawlessly the 3,800 miles back to Oregon. We could not have been more delighted. Our thanks go to Andrey and the workshop for taking such good care of us. We cannot speak highly enough of them and their business integrity. We just wish they were our local garage here in Oregon.Thank you, Andrey.
Do not hesitate to buy a car from these people. I came here because of reviews. I always buy used cars and I will definitely buy again from here. They are the easiest, most pleasant people to deal with. Cars are in great condition. After we bought our car we got it inspected.Although it passed inspection, our mechanic heard a noise on test driving it and suspected it was wheel bearings.I contacted them and without any issuesAndrey and Kevin took care of it .Very trustworthy and respectable people .Please dont hesitate to buy or have service from them .
Excellent Service. Kevin is Awesome. Very Professional & Knowledgable. They go over EVERYTHING with You. Very Reasonable. Leave a Happy Customer.
Everyone needs a mechanic they can trust. Ive been using Universal Auto for years. They take great care of my 2007 Honda, and never try to sell me any service I dont need. You will not be disappointed. Its good to know good people!
BMW drivers! Moving to Ashland with a German car, I was skeptical about who to service her. I drove by Universal Auto and noticed they had BMWβs in the lot and knew I was in luck! Donβt pay the $$$$ at the dealer! Iβve trusted them for 4 years and couldnβt be happier. Fair prices, great customer service and honest work.
I go to these guys for everything, they are on time, reliable, and fair prices. I got some work done recently and they actually charged me less than the estimate (what place does that!) awesome experience.
Great people. They worked with me over the long weekend.Great cars, and quality service.I will recommend anyone looking for a used vehicle to go to these guys!Thank you!
I have found my new auto repair shop. Staff friendly and professional. The work to my Highlander was completed in less than 2 hrs. Universal was able to repair an issue for 32.00 when Toyota dealer estimated 321.00.
The entire staff at Universal Auto Repair were professional and helpful. Repairs were done in a timely manner. They were able to accommodate our last minute schedule needs. They always know what to do and donβt push for extra work to be done though they may recommend it. Very nice to work with.
Finally was able to find a great auto service! These guys are very knowledgeable and professional they were able to find exactly whatβs wrong with the car without guesses and fix it. They also charged me only for the actual time it took to replace the part and not βby the bookβ, saving me a lot of money.
I recently purchased a used Lexus ES 350 from Universal Auto Repair and Sales. Although a bit of a drive for me, I was interested in looking at this car given the condition and price. Upon test driving, I could see the car was well maintained and overall in excellent condition. Andrey was great to work with and Im very happy with my new car and strongly recommend this dealership.
I had my CV boots replaced at Universal, the repair was quick and convenient. A few months later they became detached due to faulty manufacturing. Rather than deny the fault was caused by an inferior product (which they no longer use), they stepped up and remained true to their warranty. While I know they took a large hit on the repair, they have earned my respect and, while it was unfortunate, have restored my faith as a repeat customer. They got me back on the road in record time, and I couldnt be happier to find an honest shop, a rarity these days.
This is my favorite shop ever, and Im 60 years old and have lived in a lot of places with many shops, so that means a lot!The excellent service is almost beside the point -- those of us who have been taking our cars to Universal know that the service is excellent, only repairs that are needed will be recommended and performed, and all at excellent prices. And you will surely find that at other places, too. What makes Universal special are the personalities of the owner Nick and the other people who work there. If you are a walker, downtown Ashland is a nice place to meander around. And best of all? TEDDY THE DOG is coming back at Christmas! So if, like me, you are someone who waits around for your car to be fixed, you may, like me, find that you actually enjoy that time. And your car will be better for it, too!
Kevin and the other guys are solid. I had tires from Tire Rack sent here for install. The install pricing had apparently changed and it wasnβt reflected on Tire Rackβs website. Universal honored the original estimate which was great. They scheduled me promptly and got the job done quick. No scuffs or scrapes on the wheels. will return in the future if I need any other work.
Good quality service with reasonable prices
Letβs face it, car troubles suck... but Universal Auto Repair came to my rescue today. Great service and super knowledgeable! They weβre sure to give me all the information on what my car needed and at a very reasonable price. Kevin was a pleasure to work with, he kept me updated through out the day and explained in detail what was being worked on. I canβt thank the guys at Universal Auto enough, 5 STARS!
I couldnt be happier with my car buying experience at Universal Auto. They are super friendly, knowledgeable and honest. They will go out of their way to make customers happy. It was totally worth the long drive to buy my car from them. Dont hesitate to contact them. Nick and Andrey will take care of you. Thanks again guys!
Honest reliable repair shop. A rare find these days.
My wife and I purchased a used 2008 Audi Q7 from Universal Auto in April 2018. We live in South Dakota so had to buy the car without inspecting it first, which I was very apprehensive about. The specific car we wanted (Q7 4.2 liter V8 with adaptive air suspension and low miles, Audi only made them in 2007-2009) is very difficult to find so we had to compromise and make the purchase without seeing or test driving the car.So after some back and forth with Andrey at Universal, who was very responsive and helpful throughout the process, we pulled the trigger and made the purchase. We had the car shipped to Denver (6 hours from home) where we picked it up.The first thing I noticed was a blinking yellow light on the dash panel, indicating a suspension malfunction (adaptive suspension allows you to select different driving modes and different ride heights to optimize performance in varying conditions - all of these options were not select-able and the suspension was not working). Upon arriving home and having the suspension looked at by a trusted local mechanic, it was determined that the air compressor and relay for the suspension were shot and needed to be fully replaced. The bill for this was $1700!!!Needless to say, we werent very happy to have such a serious issue with our new car. I contacted Andrey and let him know the situation. He was adamant that the vehicle and suspension worked prior to shipping, which I believe he was being honest about. I think this was just one of those rare situations that maybe the compressor was on its last leg and happened to fail in transit.Universal ended up sending us a check to cover the repairs. This is a legitimate dealership that values their reputation and goes out of their way to take care of their customers. I would highly recommend them them to anyone. No dealership can guarantee that a 10 year old car wont have issues, even very soon after purchase. Things happen. But what makes a great dealership and one I want to do business with is the willingness to do the right thing and take care of their customers. Thats Universal Auto.If youre considering them for your car purchase, I would definitely recommend them.
I have been getting my cars serviced here for many years. Whether itβs an oil change or other repairs, I feel good knowing that my car is being taken cared of by experienced and quality professionals. I highly recommend Universal Auto Repair.
A honest and trustworthy place to get any repair work done. I have known Nick the owner of this place through a common friend and he is down to earth well spoken get job done guy. I have been taking my 2005 Accord for the last 6 years for oil changes and other mechanical works and would highly recommend this place.
Simply the best all the way around. Excellent machines and the owner really nose his business. I would give it 10 stars if I could.
These guys are top notch. Super nice service at an excellent price. Kevin and Nick are very easy to deal with and will not disappoint.
Very professional Andrey could not be more of a gentleman.
I needed my alternator replaced, and another shop wanted to charge me well over what the job was worth. However, Universal Auto Repair quoted me a fair price. They completed the work very quickly, and the repair has held for over a month now. They were knowledgable, friendly, and helpful. I definitely recommend the shop.
I always take my car here to get repairs done. The service is great and the people are friendly! I havent gone wrong here and I can always trust their opinions on what needs to be done/what doesnt. Id definitely recommend!
Friendly, honest, and trustworthy place for anyone to get their car worked on, especially if you dont know much. The entire shop always made sure I left the building with a full understanding of what went wrong, how they fixed it, and why. They truly are the best!
My wife and I just moved to the area and were looking for a mechanic. These guys were not only professional, but they also didnt try to sell me on repairs that I didnt need. Plus the ones I did need were fair priced and I didnt feel like I was taken for a ride. Not only all that, but my hours didnt match up to theirs and they were able to accommodate without any additional hassle.Im definitely going to have my future repairs done here as well as tell my wife to go here as well.
Great service & prices. Treated like red carpet and very knowledgeable!!! Highly recommended
Went to buy used BMW x5 tires, good price
10/10. Everyone there is awesome and they take care of you.
Both Nick and Kevin are awesome. Both my cars go to them when any work is needed. Knowledgeable and honest pricing. Hidden gem of Ashland.
Honest and knowledgeable mechanic, friendly service. Service and repair all my cars with these guys. Drive more then 20 miles just so they can do the work on my cars. Very satisfied.
Very friendly and very nice there
Only place I will take my Jeep for anything I donβt do myself. Really trust them with any repairs and honest feedback. Have had them call a dealer and send me to the dealer for a repair that falls under powertrain that they could have just done themselves and charged me. A+
Absolutely amazing service and great people inside the shop. Honest people and keep you posted on anything your car will need in the future.
Very professional and knowledgeable. Great prices as well.
Theyre the nicest mechanics Ive ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Their prices are fair and if they find nothing wrong with your car they let you know. For instance, a while back I thought my rear brakes were bad and making a low pitched grinding noise. Turns out dirt had just gotten caught inside. The guys at Uni Auto cleaned them up and just charged me for the oil change I had asked them to do along with the rear brake change and maybe like $30 in labor as well for jacking the car and removing the tires. All of the repairs theyve done on my car over the last 4 years have all been quality work.Highly recommended for anyone new to Ashland looking for a good place for auto repair and maintenance or anyone who feels like their current mechanic is taking them for a ride.
Great and honest service at an affordable cost. I could not ask for anything better.
Very helpful, pacient and friendly people, fair prices and took really good care of my car
These guys are awesome, highly recommended. They will give you honest opinions, quick service and most importantly good prices.
Do great work in a timely fashion. The young man in the office was extremely helpful with a warranty issue
Great guys and reasonable pricing. I learned about them years ago thru a friend. I have used them for everything from changing out an engine to light repairs. I genuinely feel they are honest and trustworthy.
In the short time I have lived in Ashland I have made this place my go to for my 2012 Honda Pilot. I initially went for the brake deal they were offering, it was half the price of the dealership where I was taking my car consistently. I have now come to find that these guys are honest in everything that they do in terms of what should be done and what can wait. I never feel forced into doing unnecessary work and they are always reasonably priced. In some cases even going the extra mile for no charge. During a routine battery replacement I had noticed the next day that 3 of the 4 bolts on the air filter housing were sheared off by the previous service appointment at Bernardi Honda in Natick. I brought this to their attention the next day to merely check and see if it was a problem they encountered during the battery replacement and they recalled noticing it. Despite not being a game changer they apologized unreservedly for simply not notifying me and just fixed it for me for no charge immediately on the spot. I have already recommended this business to others. One friend has already taken advantage of their services with his Honda minivan and have complimented me on my review of them and were so pleased with the work that they would make the 40 minute drive to have all their work done here again. Im almost tempted to bring my 2008 BMW 528i here but I have a very reliable BMW specialist already. This place has officially made me put my dealership in the rear view.
Sloppy work, found tool in engine, new scratches on car and was told they didnt do it, grease inside car, broke e-brake. Very impersonal.
Recently started having my vehicles serviced here. I used to service my own cars and I can say their pricing is fair, they dont try and sell you things you dont need, and I will continue to go here.
I do not usually write reviews but I want to warn others who may end up in a similar situation. I purchased a 2007 Subaru Impreza from Universal Auto about a year and a half ago. Initially the people working there were exceptionally friendly and mentioned that they specialize in re-doing Subarus. Within the first six months, the CV boots in the car were busted. That was the first issue of many. Then came the replacement of the timing belt, serpentine belt, both oil sensors, and the radiator had a crack in it. The power steering was replaced shortly after. This past week my CEL came on as well as the cruise control light (blinking). The car shook when I slowed or sped up. I took it to the best mechanic I could find and he had to replace the EGR Valve as well as the gasket.Long story short, everything that would make the car run for years was busted and I was responsible for re-doing my already re-done car.
This place is AWESOME!!! It is easy to see why they are rated (and thought of) so highly - they are nice, smart, quick, hard-working, honest, and reasonable!
I went there today because my 2003 Toyota Camry burnt oil badly. Someone suggested me to change PCV valves, but I had difficulty to do it myself. I met Tony at the shop, and discussed the issue with him. He gave very good explanation, and asked me if I brought the new PCV part with me which I did. He changed the PCV in a few minutes, and he did not charge me for anything. He asked me to give him feedback on how the PCV works against oil leaking because he didnt believe it alone would solve the issue.I am very impressed with his knowledge and experience, and more importantly his willingness to resolve customer issues. I am and will be definitely a customer of the shop for a long time coming.
Very professional group of guys and pretty fast turnaround times for most repairs.
Andre was very patient and answered all of my questions. Allowed me a test drive and put vehicle on lift for my inspection.
Good Mechanics
