Great staff. Work was done well. We are very happy with the outcome.
We had damage to our vehicle while in Ashland from out of state. Oil pan was punctured by a piece of metal that flew out of a truck bed. Matt went above and beyond to get the necessary parts ordered and to get the work done quickly so we could get back on the road. He even stayed well past closing time on a Friday night to help us out. Thank you for your excellent service!
Brought my car in here a couple months ago because it wouldnt start. They told me that diesel fuel had some how gotten into my gas tank and that they needed to flush the entire system. This fixed my problem and it was a fair price. However, despite repeatedly stating I get free oil changes for life they kept trying to push this additional service on me. They also said you have the worst air filter weve ever seen and asked to replace that. The last thing they said was that my tires were completely bald and I needed all 4 new tires. Here I am a couple months later having just got my oil changed at the dealership and while my air filter was bad, a couple months later, it was not the worst ever. And after rotating my tires they told me I was just at the first wear mark and had plenty of life left on them. Seems like the age old problem of trying to get as much as you can from customers needlessly.
Excellent service, super knowledgeable, and first rate diagnosticians.
They consistently do an excellent job for me & my Subaru. Thank you!
I have been taking my car to Ashland Automotive for years. Ive always found them to be polite, honest and up-front about what my car needs or doesnt need. In one case, my brakes were smoking when Id come down 66 from the Greensprings. They tried to address the issue, but it happened again. Again, they addressed what they thought was wrong. When the brakes smoked a third time, Ashland Automotive replaced my entire braking system at absolutely NO COST!! They told me that by starting from the ground up, we could be sure it wouldnt happen again. And they were right. I was shocked that they went to the lengths to do such an extensive repair for free. They own up to their mistakes, and they do what they can to make it right.
When a ticking noise developed in my car’s engine, I took my car to Ashland Automotive as I had heard the owner talk about repairs on a JPR radio program about cars. Matt, the service Mgr, recommended a full Auto inspection in addition to analyzing the ticking noise. The cost for the comprehensive inspection would be $197.09.The next day I got the results of the full inspection: a report of a variety of “necessary”repairs with a total estimate of $2,867.93, including the cost of the inspection… however, $1,031.02 of that amount was for valve cover gasket removal and replacement only, and not for the “ticking” repair, that would be extra, once it was possible to see what was necessary. At first, I agreed. But after close scrutiny of the estimate I noticed engine AIR FILTER, $61.60,LABOR to install filter $55.78, for a total of $124.42 to replace the air filter which had just recently been replaced at Oil Stop for $26.This caused me concern about the cost for other claimed “necessary” repairs, so I took my car to Automotion for a second opinion Automotion inspected all the claimed necessaryrepairs and found the power steering hose was not leaking ($288.92), the radiator hoses did not need to be replaced ($339.95), the engine mount didn’t need to be replaced ($234.83), the rear shock absorbers did not need replacing ($394.63), and of course the air filter was like new… oh, and a 4-wheel alignment I did not request ($156.69).Automotion didn’t charge for their inspection and fixed my engine tick forthwith at a very reasonable cost.My advice, watch out! …unless you’re rich and don’t care, get a second opinion.
Please do not go to this place. They will charge you more than the dealer.also they want to replace my alternator without need it. Other auto repairs near by they will fix your car for a 60%less than them.
My car broke down in the middle of a drive down to California so I had my car towed here for diagnosis. These guys were professional, prompt in response and put an emphasis on making sure I was charged properly for the diagnosis. Would highly recommend for regular maintenance and if youre in an emergency and need help!
Original post deleted.Update.....22 June, 2021Since my original post I have had several problems with their work. Todays diagnostic conclusion and how they choose to deal with it will determine if I stay a loyal longtime customer.I hope they stand behind their work!Update 24 June 2021Im sad to say I wont be going to Ashland Automotive anymore. The diagnostic conclusion they gave me was that my truck needed a new Intake Air Control valve. The part is less than $100 and takes 1.75 hours to replace. They quoted me $1,085!I picked up my truck, went home, opened the hood and debated replacing the valve myself. As I evaluated the job, I noticed a vacuum hose on top of the air intake that had a large obvious crack in it. I wrapped tape around it and installed a hose clamp on in it to stop the leak. When I started the truck, the check engine light was off and since then (24 hours and 50 miles) it runs perfectly.I cant say for sure that Ashland Automotive cracked this vacuum line when they charged me $700 to replace a valve cover gasket, or $1200 to replace an air sensor, but they would have had to disconnect and reconnect it both times.......Bottom line, I feel they are way overpriced and sloppy, despite their clean, organized, caring facade. They would have charged me $1,100 for a $400 job and that wouldnt have fixed the problem. Any experienced mechanic should have spotted that cracked vacuum line. Wish I could give them a good rating but honestly I cant!
Ashland Automotive did a comprehensive pre-purchase vehicle inspection and provided a very detailed report with their assessment, suggestions, and helpful photos. The seller and myself appreciated their thoroughness, transparent pricing, and impeccable customer service. They went above and beyond to make me happy and to keep my car in great condition. I would have no hesitation making Ashland Automotive my go-to shop.
I had my car towed to this shop and needed them to check it out for me right away since i was from out of town. They checked it out for me right away and were able to diagnose the problem. I decided that i wasnt going to have the repairs done there since I could do them myself. When i asked what my bill was, they said not to worry about it, that it didnt take them long to diagnose it. I am very thankful for there help!
Always exceptional service and a friendly knowledge staff
Had my Ford F-150 worked on they did a great job. Reasonable price and done in a timely manner.
I just wanted to Pay some Props to the Guys and Gals over at Ashland Automotive. They never let me down.I own a 2015 Mercedes Sprinter Van, It has been a great vehicle but has its fair share of quirksThe mechanics there have definitely help educate me on all those quirks.I love the communication there.I also love know Im not running the van incorrectly and that Im safer on the road. Thanks Gang.
I have been getting my Subaru serviced at Ashland Automotive ever since I moved to Ashland. They have always been friendly, and always have fixed my car.The repairs have gotten a bit extreme in terms of cost. I understand that keeping a car on the road is expensive, however we are talking $500-$1,000 repair bills every other month.I brought my Subaru in most recently for a terrible screeching sound coming from the front drivers side. Ashland Automotive took a look and told me I had a seized caliper on the drivers side. Anna very strongly told me that the only way to fix this was to replace the pads and rotors on both sides along with a new caliper on the drivers side (and preferably on the passenger side as well). Anna also noted a collapsed brake line which needed immediate replacement.Cost? $810Well, I wanted to get a second opinion since I had gotten my brakes done relatively recently. I towed my car to DHM Automotive, and they put it up on the lift.As you can see from the picture, there was simply a lava rock stuck between the back plate and the rotor which was making the noise. No seized caliper, the pads were fine, the rotors were fine and there was no collapsed brake line. Total cost of the fix? $0Of all the $3,000 in repairs I have gotten through them in the last 8 months, how many have been actually necessary?I will NEVER go back to Ashland Automotive again. It is one thing to be thorough and want to go the extra mile when repairing a used car. It is a whole other thing entirely to lie about what is actually broken.
Would recommend great people did an amazing job above and beyond for sure to I will be coming back if I have any further issues with my car for sure.
As always, my favorite auto-shop experience. Professional, friendly staff. Expectations made clear. Great turnaround time. Is it weird that I look forward to my next oil change? :)
Took my vehicle in to get an electrical inspection for approximately 70 dollars. I reported that the key fob is not activating the power locks and my power locks are not activating at all unless the engine is running (gave them additional information). They diagnosed the issue as my key fob is not working and called me saying it will cost me about 300 dollars to get a new one! I replied with “that doesn’t tell me why the locks are not working when my engine is not running”. So they resumed the inspection and said they would call me back. They called me back and stated they cannot move forward with further diagnosis unless they are able to do an “advanced electrical inspection”... I said no and picked my vehicle up. They said the key fob spring is not contacting the correct point and could give no information about the root cause of the actual issue unless I paid more for an “advanced electrical inspection”So about 15 minutes of googling, I found that I just needed to replace one fuse in my Jeep and I opened my key fob up and bent the little metal spring up a little with my finger to make proper contact. As someone who does not work on autos, I was able to diagnose and fix my own vehicle in about 30 minutes with a simple fuse.I’m angry. They charged me 70 dollars to tell me what I already knew and would have charged me a hell of a lot more, even though the fix was BASIC electrical work centered around one blown fuse. I will never take my vehicle here again.
Dear Jeff & crew.. Many Thanks for the great job on my jeep. I love that old car and I am so happy that your group has been able to repair it so quickly and that you stand behind your guarantee. Also thankful that youve always been able to get me in and out the same morning is amazing! Thank you all so very much.Bart Atkins, Ashland, OR
Didnt want to work on my rv. Sent me elsewhere
Trustworthy and effective. Did DEQtoo there after an oil change and it was smooth as butter.
The folks at Ashland Automotive are friendly, professional, knowledgeable and trustworthy. They have kept our cars running and reliable for years. They answer our questions, explain maintenance and repairs and partner with us to ensure our peace of mind and road safety!
MY vehicle was brought here by the potential buyer for a vehicle inspection. At the the end of the inspection she was told the vehicle had 3 issues and it would be $1400 to fix, ouch not good! But wait, what was needed?1. Transmission oil leak at driveshaft URGENT repair needed.2. Oil leak at the oil pan URGENT repair needed3. Cracked bushings on the front A-arms URGENT(1.and 2.) I found this interesting as my vehicle leaves no drips of oil, I park in the the same spot every day. I looked under the car and did see Oil RESIDUE at both places mentioned. I cleaned off both areas with degreaser and have since put 100 miles on the vehicle, neither of the areas have reappeared... By telling the potential buyer these were URGENT along with a hefty repair estimate, the buyer decided not to purchase the vehicle. You tell me how URGENT a repair is, if there was never even a drip to discuss, just wet area. I could understand making a note, suggesting to clean the area and re-check.. But to just say URGENT need without further investigation? Yet this is the premier shop in ashland.(3.) Cracked bushings. I looked at them, yes they have weather-checking cracks from being the original parts . HOWEVER there is absolutely no noise, no play (tested with a prybar) . So again URGENT ?The shop cost the potential buyer $120 for the inspection, after the $1400 estimate they decided not to buy the vehicle.By being GREEDY and hoping to get the job for unnecessary repairs, they not only cost me my sale BUT potential buyer lost out on a reliable vehicle. This inspection was on an older toyota rav4, not a bmw so $1400 for those 3 repairs..... REALLY ? Just take the actual cost to fix (even though none are an immediate need on ANY of it) and triple it?Premier?... Premier cost maybe! Very disappointing.************************************************************RE: to the owners responseI agree that during an inspection of an older vehicle you are likely to find things, that is not my complaint. My complaint is the over-exaggerationof the urgency, and bloated price for the work.as mentioned I cleaned the area, and have now put on nearly 200 miles and still no oil residue showing up. I would assume you would reserve the word urgent when oil is dripping out while its idling, or a water pump dripping out coolant while idling. Why use the word URGENT for just residue of oil, but no drips? I know why... when someone hears that word, they believe they need to address it right away, or it could lead to other issues. So by using that word, you hope they book the job. It would have been a waste of money for sure. Thanks for the invite to view the digital inspection but why would I need to do this? I saw exactly what you saw, did the appropriate thing, cleaned off the area and follow that up with checking the area again after using the vehicle to re-assess the need or in this case, no need for repairs.Want to make it right? Refund the $120 ... as it was more of a scare tactic to drum up business than it was a vehicle inspection.....
I love the profressionalism and no drama experiences Ive had at Ashland Automotive. Their rates are a bit higher but the work gets done right and on time and the interior doesnt smell funny. Its been so worth it to take my cars there.
I have been coming here for a few years now. I had two major repairs done: ignition replacement and transmission replacement. Both repairs were expertly done and I havent experienced any issues with them. Jeff is always up front and honest and does a good job at keeping you apprised of how your repairs are going. I had an alternator belt snap on me today and headed straight for Ashland Automotive, knowing my repair would be done right the first time at a reasonable price. Its nice having a reliable high quality auto shop in town!
We had a customer stranded in Ashland on her way to Disneyland. Jeff at Ashland automotive helped us get the vehicle running and got it covered under our 2yr 24k mile warranty. Great communication and easy to work with. Thanks Ashland Automotive for helping us out and taking care of our customer.
Excellent service. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Very up to date on all phases of automotive industry.Highly recommended.
Jeff and his team did an amazing job with my car! They were extremely helpful and had great communication with me the whole time. I loved that they offered a shuttle service as well! Highly recommended! Will be bringing my car here in the future! Thank you!!!
Extremely knowledgeable, courteous and considerate of the needs of their customer. The staff is accommodating and always ready to help.I highly recommend.
Super nice group of folks, per usual. I had zero complaints and was pleased with the quality of service.
I continue to be very satisfied with my customer experience at Ashland Automotive. Theyre nice people too!
Fast, friendly, thorough, honest. Best auto shop experience I’ve ever had.
These guys are great! I had my explorer serviced about a year ago for a noise in the rear differential. They took care of the issue reasonably priced and quickly. About 11 months later the noise came back and they warrantied it and fixed it for free even though it was a different component in the rear diff. These guys are the real deal and I highly recommend them
Completely unhelpful.
Ashland automotive is the only place my husband and I will bring our car for maintenance and regular car care. We have had numerous positive experiences with the team at Ashland Auto. Each time we bring our car in I am impressed by the efficiency, quality of work, and most of all the honesty at this shop.We had a complex repair that required extensive diagnostic work on their part; throughout the process they kept us updated on the status of our car, and Zach worked with us each step of the way to find the best possible solution. Ashland Auto provides the highest quality of automotive work and takes the time to thoroughly explain repairs, recommendations, and options for your car. Our experiences at Ashland Auto have convinced us that there is no better place to bring our car.
Great rates answered questions when like businesses were menrioned
Easiest oil change around and reasonably priced! They dont try to sell you things you dont need. Efficient, friendly, knowledgable crew. Thanks!
I have been taking both of my vehicles to Ashland Automotive for a couple of years now. This includes general maintenance, recommended service, and oil changes, etc... on a 2010 Toyota Prius and a 2006 Honda CRV. In my opinion the prices are more then fair and the customer service is outstanding. If your priority is safety like me you can rest assured their technicians are highly qualified and they do not cut corners. They have a state of the art facility and well maintained equipment. Its the cleanest shop Ive ever seen. If you take your car maintenance seriously go to a shop with a good reputation like Ashland Automotive.
So thankful for the awesome experience at Ashland automotive. A superstar employee Jeff was quick and courteous and helped out two broke down travelers. We were sold a faulty alternator in California and the team here quickly identified our problem and had us out on the road. The quality of service here is top notch and where we got the first alternator they described the problem in two sentences. Jeff at Ashland automotive gave us two paragraphs. They truely care about he customer here. Thank you again!
Very bad do not go here.
Had my Bronco towed here after I couldnt get it started on a Thursday with no appointment, just a heads up call. Even though they were clearly very busy (which is always a good sign!) they still managed to get the issue figured out before close on Friday so I could pick it up before the weekend. When they walked to me to where they had my car parked to show me where the problem was, I noticed they had taken the time to cover up the back of the vehicle with a tarp since I had taken the top off for summer and their was a chance of rain, which I had never asked them to do. Really goes to show they really care about you and your vehicle. Thanks guys and look forward to doing business with you in the future!
I brought my Dodge Cummins in the first time because the last shop I went to was a nightmare, I was looking for a good place that I could trust with my rig. The prices were competitive so I gave them a shot. Since then they have done several upgrades and repairs to my truck and its never felt better. This last time I was in a crunch with work and they found some time to help me in 24hrs. I cant tell you how hard it is to find any shop!, let alone one of this caliber to get you in and out with 24hr window. These are some good people. Its nice to see.
Made an appointment for an inspection and to see what was wrong with my speedometer (was wobbling) I was told that well they were putting the cable back in it broke. They still charged my 200 dollars. Never returning to this unprofessional shop again. Small update about thirty minutes after leaving the shop my check engine light turned on, It had not been on before.
They were really great! Very friendly and helpful. They even drove me to and picked me up from the market so I could pass the time there while my car was getting fixed.
This is the only place I will go and its the only place I will recommend. The Ashland Automotive team is dedicated, talented, trustworthy, and kind. No matter what your automotive needs are, large or small, trust Ashland Automotive.
I had such great service and wanted to let others know. I came in without an appointment with a horrible noise in my car that ended up being a transmission problem. I was treated with kindness and wonderful customer care by Lyndi who said they would take care of me. And they did - unfortunately for me, or rather fortunately for me, they found other problems which also needed to be fixed. I am so thankful that Lyndi found a way to get me scheduled and I greatly appreciate the whole teams efforts. Ashland Automotive is a great place!!!!
These guys go above and beyond for their clients. Ill be a loyal customer for life!
Super helpful crew when my air cooled Westie developed a leak on the road to Disneyland with my kiddos. Didnt have the tools for the leak I thought it was, so I took it to them to assess before continuing South. While the leak was not fixed, I did have the comfort of knowing we werent fatally dripping down the road. In their defense, the larger leak I was experiencing did not show back up until Id been at highway speed for an hour, and that has been the pattern ever since. No way they could even see what was happening since it only happened after extended time on the freeway...ah, life with a Westie!
I have been a customer of Ashland Automotive for several years. Recently I had a major repair done and as always my experience was very professional, trust worthy, knowledgeable and the entire staff was a pleasure to work with. I refer clients and friends to them on a regular basis.
I drove 6 hours to Ashland for a job interview. Car started a grinding noise while there. Got referred to this place, was told they were honest and good people. They were straightforward about what was going on, the a/c compressor was worn out, so they offered replacement ($990.00) or a bypass pulley ($500.00). I didnt have the money so I went back to my hotel to try and figure something out. I looked up the bypass pulley installation on YouTube and it takes a mechanic less than 30 mins to do it. So I figure it was the parts cost that was high. Got $357.00 together and found the correct pulley for $40.00, I even found a brand new serpentine belt in my trunk, from previous owner. Im stoked cause I got all the parts so I can offer three hundred for 30 mins of their time. I call and they refuse to use the parts I got, giving the reason that they have to make a profit off the parts because they give a warranty on them. I thought I was being helpful and cutting their biggest cost, but they flat-out refused to help me and blew me off. I tell him I have three hundred seventeen dollars, is there anything they can do? He says no.. I figure I can fix the grinding sound once I drive 6 hours back to Reno if it wasnt a big enough deal for them to help me out. Needless to say, I was stranded in the middle of nowhere for two hours waiting for a tow truck to pick me up, then tow my car the last 53 miles to Reno. Its not their fault that my car died, but they could have helped me avoid it, and blew me off, and that is not okay. I would have given them a 3 because they seem like they know their stuff and they arent bad people for sticking to their price and policy, but I was in a bind, my car was grinding, and I was trying to pay them $317.00 for one hour of one of their guys time, tops. The 3 star says It was okay and it was Not okay.. So they get 2 stars. Sorry. Im sure your richer customers are all very happy..
They diagnosed an oil leak for me while I was vacationing. I found out it was related to work done recently by a different shop. They did not charge me for their time diagnosing the problem, cleaning up my engine and topping off the oil. My friends in Ashland will definitely be using them for future car repairs.
They tried to fix a gas tank on my Ford Ranger. Nice guys, but I drove up to Portland and gas was leaking in Reoseburg worse than it ever have. The attendent couldnt finish filling the tank. I limped home. I know they have a guarntee, but I think I will go to my guy here. If you guys read this, could you please take me off your email list - I asked you specifically not to do that.
Called for an appointment. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it easily.
Fast service and complimentary rides. Little pricey but really good service.
Super solid experience, expensive but you get what you pay for - honest, reliable automotive work. The office is super nice and clean too!
Lyndi @Ashland Automotive was very helpful, knowledgeable and polite. Im a long way from Audi country, but the Ashland Automotive team got my parts in and work done as promised. Thanks to James, everything seems ok now.
I do not understand why this place gets all these positive reviews. We tried them because of all the positive press they get in Sneak Previews. My wife wanted an oil change AND lubrication (the car is old enough to still have some zirk fittings) and I thought the steering shaft needed to be replaced. When my wife asked if they would really be doing a lube job instead of just an oil change, the employee erupted. Couldn’t believe how nasty she got. She couldn’t answer that simple question. All she would say (shouting) was that they were rated #1 and that was all we needed to know.So wish we had taken back the keys and asked to cancel everything. Two hundred forty dollars when we picked up the car. That’s oil change, lube, and exam.I already knew the steering shaft joints were bad. That was the point! So, he gave us an estimate of something like $800 or more to buy junk yard steering column, steering wheel, everything.I asked the guy sitting there why they would want to do that when a brand-new, after-market, better than original shaft could be purchased anywhere from $92 to $149. (The Dorman brand—exactly the same you would get from NAPA or Carquest.)His response was that they couldn’t be guaranteeing their work with parts they didn’t “know”. Really? One from the junk yard they will do! But an brand new aftermarket name-brand one isn’t good enough. So, I purchased the $92 one from amazon and paid a friend $50 to install it.When we told friends the story, even before we told them which auto repair place we were talking about, they asked if we had taken it to Ashland Automotive. When we said yes, their response was “worse place you could have gone”.
Great Service and friendly staff! Email and text reminders so you wont forget your appointment.
I paid over a four thousand dollars for a new thermostat, radiator cap and catalytic converter all of which failed after six months. I wouldnt recommend this shop to anyone.
Reliable service.
I was on the road, and my tire pressure light came on. So, I googled mechanic shops around where I was, and found this place. They adjusted my tire pressures for free, and were very friendly.
These people totally screwed me.
