I was doing all of my shopping here. The past few times I’ve gone, meat looks old and the store smells horrible. My husband and I kept going back, hoping it was a one off situation…we’re wondering if the meat and seafood’s distributor changed relatively recently

After a 17 year hiatus from Asheville, I took the opportunity to return to the local Earth Fare located in the Westgate Shopping Center. The store is expansive in design, with wood tones on the floors, walls, and ceilings. The overall feel of Earth Fare reminds me of the style found at some New York City markets and is a distinct difference from the typical local modern supermarket chains you probably shop.Earth Fare is a natural and organic food concept similar to Whole Foods. For the shopper that enjoys cooking, this is a place you will like to shop. They have a decent bulk food section, butcher shop, coffee bar, and takeout eatery. In addition, Earth Fare contains a large wellness section where you will find a broad selection of natural cosmetics, lotions, and soaps, etc.I found the prices at Earth Fares reasonable for the quality of products that they sell. On balance, their prices seem better than competitors such as Whole Foods and are not that much more expensive than the local Ingles Supermarket. If you shop selectively, then Earth Fare offers weekly sales that will assist your budget.I can recommend Earth Fare to any shopper looking for products that are unique and natural. The store has an unhurried and calm vibe that should sit well with those who shop there.

I was a loyal shopper before bankruptcy. It was my primary place for my weekly grocery run. Now that they have reopened I have been back, but it has not gone back to my primary place. The selection is less and the prices higher for the same brands at other stores. If I want to shop at only one store I unfortunately won’t pick it. But there are items that only they have so I do make special trips for those items.

Love the store and as a Chef I spend on average 700 a week there(except for those occasional 2k wine orders). That has now ended immediately due to the firing of Lori Kane. The stores lack of concern for its employees fears of getting Covid19 is appalling. Luckily there are other grocery stores here in Asheville that will be happy to get that extra 700 a week I was spending here. You just lost a 35K plus a year customer for another customer I doubt spends a tenth of that in your store.

I want to give this place ZERO STARS but I am forced to leave one star in order to be able to submit my review. So while you do see ONE star, know that it is really a big FAT ZERO.Horrible Experience! The Female Manager couldnt have cared less when I approached her with my issue and she didnt even pretend to want to help me out. After my awful experience, I decided that Earth Fare would no longer get my business and I went online to look for the items that we needed. Imagine my pleasant surprise when I found out that a lot of the items that we needed, were cheaper on Amazon (Prime Free 1 Day Delivery) and/or at Whole Foods (2 hour delivery). Give Amazon, Whole Foods or Trader Joes your business first! Earth Fare is over priced, has a rude manager and should have never reopened.

I like the store but they don’t make it easily accessible. They have one electric cart that may or may not be charged when u get there. (happened twice so I stopped shopping there) Nice service person got one thing for me since I couldn’t shop (no cart) but when I went to Whole Foods and all 4 of their carts were in action, they offered to do ALL my shopping and brought me free kombucha when I chose to wait. Good salads at both places. What I shop for tends to be less expensive at WF anyway.

There’s no enforcement of any kind of policy requiring that masks be worn in the store and in fact an employee was recently fired for requesting that a customer wear a mask. If this store cares so little about the health and well being of their customers in this regard, I shudder to think of how negligent they probably are in regard to food safety. Do yourself and your health a favor and shop elsewhere.

Ive lived in Asheville for over 10 yrs, and luckily, since mainstream grocery stores are selling vegan options now, I rarely need to go here. I cant figure out why people go here considering the cost and unfriendly service. I unfortunately had to go today and the cashier asked if I knew the # of the produce then seemed bothered when I replied no. Isnt that their job??? I am convinced people shop here simply to feel as if they are getting the best even though you can get equally good products elsewhere.

I have lived in Asheville for over 20 years and this used to be a great place to shop. About 3-4 years ago it came under the control of a new CEO and the store has gone downhill since then. Prices went up considerably, senior discounts went down to one day a week, employees seem to be unhappy, restrooms are always dirty (I could go on and on). According to a local paper they pay meager wages, keep hours down so no benefits, and require employees to do more work for meager pay. In short, it has just become another corporate store placing importance on the bottom line to the expense of everything else. I still shop here occasionally but only buy things on sale as prices are way out of line.

I remember when this store was on Merrimon and called Dinner for the Earth. In its evolution from a single health-food store to a much more diverse chain of stores throughout the southeast, it has not lost its charm or its values. The foods and products they sell dont contain sketchy ingredients so your kids are pretty much safe eating whatever is sold here. This particular Earth Fare has a huge health and beauty section, a huge cafeteria and yet still everything you come to expect from a community store in our beloved Asheville, NC.

This place is TERRIBLE. They dont treat their employees well at all and the pay is low and does not compare with other places. The store often smells like rotten fish, has ceiling leaks when it rains, and their produce is often moldy or rotten. They are often out of things youre looking for also. If you must shop at an EF, go to the Hendersonville road store! Its clean and management are much nicer. If they shut this place down, lord knows I wouldnt cry about it.

Yesterday I went to Earth Fare for dinner. I had the Garden Vegetable Soup. All ingredients listed on the soup were 100% vegan. When I sat down to eat it, however, it didnt taste right. I stirred it, and noticed what looked like chicken meat. I reread the ingredients... the closest thing to meat listed was mushrooms. This was definitely chicken. I took it up to the deli, and the sandwich guy insisted it was vegan, but asked if I wanted him to take it back to the cook and ask what that could possibly be. He came back and said the cook tried it and it was chicken. Chicken. In a vegan soup. 20 minutes later, the soup was still out for sale and not labeled as containing chicken. I spoke to another worker and explained the situation. She was apologetic and said shed remove the soup from the shelf.Ive been vegan for 14 years. If I cant trust a company to be open and honest about the ingredients in their food, I cant eat there. I wont go back to Earth Fare.
