I just had my first experience and was very pleased. Everyone I spoke with was very respectful and professional. There was a piece I was considering selling and Jimmy gave me a suggestion I had not considered to modify it instead and I now love the piece. There was a female associate who was a delight to chat with while Jimmy worked on my necklace. I will definitely be going back for future jewelry needs.

I had some miscellaneous jewelry to sell. I knew some of it was gold and was not sure about some of the other pieces. I also wanted to sell an old engagement ring. I made an appointment to see Grant. I was so impressed with the level of professionalism, service and honesty. Grant took his time looking through and appraising all of the jewelry I brought in. He spent almost 1.5 hours going through everything. The amount he offered for the gold was the ballpark number I had in mind. (Prior to meeting with him, a family member did some weighing and research for me.). I felt he was right on target. He examined the diamond engagement ring and explained and actually showed me exactly how he arrived at the number he did. He took the time to walk me through all the key things a jeweler looks for in a diamond. My family and I didn’t know a lot about diamonds, but per his explanation, I also felt like it was a very fair price. I highly recommend this company. My sister in Raleigh has some items to sell and Grant Laughter Jewelry is where I will bring them.

We’ve had an excellent experience with Jimmy at Grant Laughter. He listened to what we wanted and found us our perfect engagement ring and salt-and-pepper diamond. He truly wanted us to be happy with it and we never felt pressured, and we were glad to have the benefit of his experience and advice. He got us several diamond options to choose from, and he altered the setting to fit our diamond perfectly. He emailed us an autocad file for design approval and then had a wax mock-up made for me to try on to double check the sizing and details. Just had a jewelry repair done on my two necklaces one of the most wonderful experiences I have ever had they did not overcharge and was very fair on pricing for all their products I looked around the store and seen some things that I may come back for very friendly staff make you feel very welcome and at home if there was a way I can give more than five stars I would.

They are great! My watch needed a new battery and I visited them based on web recommendations and being in the area. I couldnt even see half of the jewelry they had on display and my watch was ready. On top of that they didnt charge me a penny. Who would do that nowadays? Their selection of jewelry is fantastic and reasonably priced. I visited this jeweler last month in order to purchase a new watch battery for my elderly mother. Upon entering the store, I was impressed with the tasteful displays of merchandise and the friendly, helpful manner of the staff. Moreover, this jeweler insisted on not charging anything for the battery or his service, and also without charge, willingly fixed the band on my watch so that it would fit my slender wrist! We will definitely keep him in mind in the future when we return to the area!

I went to Grant Laughter with a vintage flower engraved sterling silver ring with dents and scratches that needed to be resized. I also needed a repair to some black linings that were coming out. Jimmy took the time to reach out to other people to find out the best option for me. I was astonished when I picked up my ring! There are no visible signs of resizing at all and they polished it (even around the flower etching) so it looks brand new! The before and after is unbelievable! Support this local business!

I elected to sell some small gold trinkets and so I stopped by John Laughter Jewelry. I was greeted when I walked in, treated in a very nice way, and was given fair value for the items that I sold. Beautiful selection of fine jewelry. Staff are friendly, helpful and not at all pushy. I had my 15 year old wedding set repaired (a baguette on my wedding band needed to be replaced and white gold restored on my bands) and they look brand new. I took some jewelry that had been my grandmothers in for appraisal because I know I will not wear it and it seems pointless to hang on to it when other things such as my old photos of her are better souvenirs of my memory and enjoyment of her. Nonetheless, it was daunting to consider the process of getting it appraised and figuring out the best avenues for moving it along, especially since I had no idea whether the pieces were valuable or costume jewelry. I certainly wouldnt want things that were once dear to my grandmother to be lost in some shady transaction. The folks at John Laughter Jewelry were all incredibly warm and welcoming and inspected each piece with professional tools right within my view and gave me an assessment of each item from various standpoints and did not pressure or sway any of my decisions. They were willing to buy any of the gold and silver for remelt and advised me to personally sell or keep pieces that would yield a better profit to me as collector items than what they pay for the metal. They did not make me feel awkward at all, even thought the majority of what I had was only costume jewelry. I also appreciated that they didnt refer to the costume pieces in any derogatory way or make any assumptions without carefully inspecting each item. They understood that regardless of resale value on any of the pieces there was emotional value as well and that it was hard to reach the decision of selling any of it. I had been really nervous before hand, but I felt really good about the whole experience and appreciate how honest and helpful they were. It was clear that they only want to engage in everyone-wins scenarios, which is a great way to operate! If I ever need to repair any of the antique pieces I am keeping or custom make something from the family pieces or buy a special gift, I would be more than happy to do business with them again!

It was repaired, cleaned, and the crystal was polished, and ready to be picked up Saturday morning. Grant and staff were friendly and professional. We entered the store, jewelry projects in hand, with low expectations. Our needs were small, and unusual for such a stately store. We were welcomed by Jimmy, and he promised to help us out. After my mother-in-law explained she lost a small blue stone in her ring, he was patient in choosing a stone and extremely reasonable in cost to order the stone and set it. We were thrilled! I had a small family salt seller that needed re-silvering. I have tried to restore it for years, and my mother has a matching one that needs attention. He took it away and lovingly brought back the sterling silver shine, with the promise to do the same for my Mothers pepper seller. I am tickled! These small kindnesses for items of sentimental value will bring us to John Jaughter again and again. Thank you, Jimmy!

I had been holding onto my grandmothers wedding bands and birthstone ring for a few years. They were given to me after her death, as my mom knew how special my grandmother was to me. Her rings had been cut off her finger years ago while she was in the nursing home, so they needed to be put back together and sized. My husband suggested we get it done this year as a Christmas gift to me, so after driving by their store one day, I went into John Laughter Jewelry to see how much it would cost. The staff was immediately so helpful, and also acknowledged how much I value these rings. The cost was very reasonable and it took no time at all to get it done. I am so happy with the finished product - the rings are beautiful, just as I remembered on my grandmother. John Laughter Jewelry not only treated me with kindness, they also showed great care to something very special to me.

I just bought a new diamond for my wife. I told them the size that I wanted, and told them I wanted good clarity, but not flawless. When I went to pick it up, John Laughter was there, and said he was so embarrassed. He proceeded to tell me that they had mounted the wrong diamond, and that the one they put in the setting was less money, but not what he had priced to me. Honestly it looked great, and I would have never known.They are just good honest people that will treat you fair.
