We ordered pick up in store for breakfast on Sunday. The Kimchi Reuben was awesome. But the Avocado BLT had absolutely 0 avocado and 0 sauce. It was essentially bread with a big piece of lettuce, tomato slice, tempeh bacon. Very disappointing, but Im sure it would have been good if executed properly, since we loved the Reuben.

Oatmeal was basically water. Left before we got our 5 dollar latte but already ate and finished food so didnt feel like waiting. Staff is very nice but clearly they are understaffed due to covid. The ciabatta is very good!

Green sage is a beautiful restaurant. There quite a varied menu of vegan bowls, wraps and sandwiches. I had a veggie wrap but frankly it was kind of thin, just not much food in it. It tasted good, and I dont eat much, so it was perfect for me. Just letting everyone know to maybe get the full size instead of a half size wrap.

I loved pancakes!!best I’ve ever had!!I had two eggs with pork sausage and blueberry pancakes.The only thing was that the restroom was super dirty as well as the table where we ate.

Great vegan options. The marinsted tofu had a nice dark crust to it.. The sourdough toast was greasy, but love that they had nice jam.

Nice little fast casual cafe with lots of things to choose from. Food was cooked well, freshly made, and not overly greasy or heavy. I would definitely suggest looking at a menu before you go to alleviate holding up the line. I was like a deer in headlights while the line was piling up behind me.

Unbelievably slow 45 min+ service for a simple to-go lunch for 1 person. They seemed well staffed at the front, but the kitchen not so much.

Green sage is a favorite breakfast joint for me and this is a nice, roomy location that delivers on good food. Always plenty of gluten free options. Was appreciative that they had my plan ahead meal ready when I got there.

Delicious meal (Tigris bowl) that was fresh and prepared quickly. They have a great selection of food that Im eager to try when I visit Asheville agian.

The butternut squash soup was very good but for a bowl it wasnt very much nada $7 and it should have a nice piece of bread to go with it other than that staff was wonderful and have a blessed evening

The root hash is my new fav 😍😋 I usually get the “gimme kale” since they serve breakfast all day 🙌🏾 but today I decided to try the root hash since I was getting a smoothie too. Excellent price and amazing flavor 😋 They use kits for the smoothies so you can’t customize them 😕 I was craving a green smoothie but I didn’t like a lot of the items in the “Green Day” they offered. I didn’t like some of what was in the “Deep Purple” I got, but it had slightly more of what I liked than didn’t like so I went with that. Unfortunately I still didn’t like it 😕. The guy cashier was super nice though and apologized that my order was sitting waiting to be picked up from the kitchen window and given to me. It wasn’t his fault though, he was working the register and someone else was making drinks and getting items, but it seems my order kept being overlooked so he went and got it for me.

Some of the items were yummy, some not so much. In their defense they were out of several key items so that might have made a difference. If we could have gotten what we ordered it might have been better (example was that they subbed ginger dressing for tahini with falafel bowl. Definitely changed the flavor profile. Feta cheese in spinach feta omlette was weird so maybe that was a substitute too)

After four days of greasy food on the road, this was a nice healthy change of pace!! Little on the pricey side for what it was though.

Every time I come in they’re out of something. Last time it was gluten free bread now it’s falafel.

Very healthy and delicious food, smoothies, tea, etc...in a COVID Safe environment. You can eat inside or on a spacious covered deck!

Arrived at 3:33pm. They close at 4 pm. They would not let us eat sandwiches inside because it was within 30 mins of closing notwithstanding others were eating large entrees near us. to get it to go. Otherwise food is pretty good

I like this place and go there often as its close to home. However, there are no great cooks here, tbh. So dont order anything that requires skill; like eggs. You will likely be disappointed. Otherwise, their food and drinks are delicious 😋

I was very excited about this place but it only left disappointment. First the good, the coffee is delicious. But the staff is very rude, it really felt like they hate their job. Our food was cold and the portions are small served in a cafeteria style. My husband broke the really weak plastic utensils they give you and took forever to get someones attention to get it replaced. I dont think I will be going back.

Runs efficient and quick. Dont get me wrong I love healthy food and I eat and cook healthy a lot, but this could use a little more flavor.

This place is amazing, friendly, clean and delicious food. Glad to see they have sanitizers everywhere and spaced seating.Definitely will be our spot next time in town.

They changed the menu to come out of the better items off due to covidif the virus is over with they may add some of these items back according to the barista that had to use his cell phone to figure out how much change I was due

Really enjoy this place. From the delicious, healthy food to the yummy smoothies, everything Ive tried has been great. Even love the Mate Factor products they carry (energy bars, tea, etc.). The only thing that Id suggest is lowering the price of the smoothies or making them much larger.

Love the food and service. Easy location with parking outdoor seating.

Excellent choice for healthy eating

Everything is made to order from high quality all-natural ingredients (not sure how much from local farms though). Excellent menu with options for every pallet at any time of the day. The grass fed burger was thin, lean, a bit tough and overcooked (we asked for med-well but should have asked for medium considering how thin and lean the patty was). The soup and salad combo was excellent as were the sweet potato fries. Overall a great place to eat, but a bit pricey (likely owing to the very high quality ingredients) and there are slightly more affordable options nearby with similar quality and taste. Well definitely eat at GSC more often now that weve finally tried it.

Simply put, the service gets an unacceptable rating. The food was undercooked and cold, and the portions were small. Bummer.

With the continued growth of Green Sage across our area, the quality of products and services have plummeted. First time in the Merrimon location, and it took over thirty minutes to get one item. I dont know why I keep coming back to give them another chance. They are not the company they used to be. Which used to be great, now I wont spend another dollar here.

The food was good and it was easy to adjust menu items for dietary restrictions. Also, the fact that they dont up charge you for some of these swaps is fantastic.

I am thrilled to have Green Sage as our new neighbor. I have always loved the downtown location and was thrilled to have them move so close to us on Merrimon Ave. They just opened up last week and we have ordered from them 3 times already. We had one IN restaurant visit and 2 take out orders.The food is always the best and the staff is friendly. Tonight was a bit challenging but I will chalk that up to the growing pains of a new location. But, guys, never forget to put the jam and butter for a biscuit in the to go bag. And offer a bag and utensils. First take out was perfect. Tonight, not so much.However, nothing from tonights experience will stop me from returning.If you have not tried Green Sage, I strongly encourage you to do so. The ambiance of the Merrimon location is very nice. The food is organic and delicious and healthy and the presentation is a work of art.PLEASE, go there, eat, enjoy and repeat.

First of all, I could not find any bike parking at this restaurant. I had to lock up to a patio chair. I was able to avoid riding on Marrimon Ave and arrived using quiet, bike-friendly streets. The food here is excellent and healthy. We had a large group and were easily accommodated. If they had good bike parking, Id have given them 5 stars.

Wow, is this food fantastic! The best sourced ingredients. Im vegan and can always find something new and delicious, and they dont mind switching things up for me!

The Merrimon location is a great place to gather together with friends and enjoy wonderful fresh food. The avocado wild lox round was delicious! The menu offers a variety of breakfast and lunch items along with coffee, tea, smoothies, cold pressed juices and vegan milkshakes. There is also ample parking.

This is a good place to hang out and do some work. The food was just okay. We had the Green Sage breakfast - the kale was good but the veggie hash was too salty and the mushroom gravy was not good.

I used to love Green Sage but the past couple meals have been pretty terrible. Today I got a bowl- the rice was dry/undercooked and tasted several days old. The avocado was completely rock hard and unripe. The tomatoes and kale in it somehow tasted terrible too. Falafel was decent but couldn’t finish the rest of the meal. Maybe supply issues due to covid? Not sure, but food quality is rapidly declining.

Holt, one of Green Sage’s baristas is a valued employee. She is wonderful and helpful. I have never experienced customer service such as hers. Thank you Holt, for the peanut butter pie so close to closing time, you make the Merrimon location worth going to.

My favorite green sage location. Lots of seating and a huge menu selection. Green sage is my favorite cafe period. I love it so much and it’s a great experience. Wonderful staff.

My first time at this location, and its pretty much the same as the one in West Gate, which overall is a good thing. Not that it is Green Sages fault, but people tend to have loud conversations here for some reason. I came to have some quiet coffee-and-computer research/writing time, but instead I get to overhear all these people around me, even with headphones on.

Long wait for food with no flavor. Waited almost 30 minutes for my breakfast plate. When I asked about it the staff told me that they were waiting for the gravy to be made. Server should have informed me. Management should better train their staff and improve the kitchen efficiency.

I love this place. Locally roasted coffee is excellent. Quiet and relaxing on a Saturday Morning.

I so appreciate their healthy choices. Lots for those with food allergies. And delicious too! This new location is beautiful. Open and airy ... a very pleasant space.

The food was good, but not great. I got the forbidden city bowl and I thought the flavors were asian-like but not as flavorful as they could have been. My brother got the grass-fed burger and it was also good, but very dense. The sweet potato chips are very thin sliced

The new location of Green Sage is beautifully designed and has an updated menu. The first couple of weeks they were a bit slow, but I attributed it to Opening pains. The food is very good, made with high quality ingredients and a good variety of choices, including breakfast all day.

I love all of the green sage locations in Asheville. They have a very diverse menu with lots of options for people with special dietary needs. They are very environmentally and socially conscious about what they serve. Its a great place to have a cup of tea and collaborate or work alone.

Really impressed with this place. Went with some friends and the food was really good. Not cheap but the quality of the food made it worth it. I am not a vegan but I really liked the Kimchee Reuben (with tempeh and avocado). Liked it so much I ate at a different location the next week.

Update:Shanda C., thanks for your response to my original review. It does not, however, address the house policy issue of how to be sure that the first come are first served, whether there is staff shortage that day or not.My suggestions are:- train the kitchen staff to ring the bell every couple minutes until an order is taken away from the ready window.- train the front counter staff to prioritize retrieving ready orders for a waiting customer instead of choosing to serve latter customers their drinks or food first.- train the front counter staff to limit personal conversation with customers when there is a line or people have already ordered standing at the counter with a request.All that said, I did take your suggestion and come try the place again. My second visit began as the first did, with (Lydia, maybe her name tag says) the same woman taking my order. She is amazing and fun and funny, working attentively and quickly and adding sound affects and wise suggestions to her interactions with me as I select from the menu, order, and pay. She even had what seemed like an unexpected and very excited visit from a best friend (who also ordered as a customer), but limited interactions with this person until she finished taking my order and making and serving my drink. I enjoyed my food more this visit and was served it promptly after it came up in the window and the bell was rung. I’ve changed my rating from 3 to 4 stars and will likely be back. My sandwich came up and sat in the kitchen window for a few minutes. I approached the counter and got nothing more than quick glance from the cook. The second counter staff person had disappeared and the only one there had a line of customers and was chatting on and on with one of them about prescription glasses style and cost. She finished taking that order and told the woman “I’ll get your coffee now.” I interjected and asked gently “will you please hand me my sandwich first, it’s been up for a while.” She declined and got the lady her coffee first. I received apologies and sympathies from that customer and others in line, and then was handed my sandwich. Perhaps the kitchen staff needs a bell or to holler “order up” every couple minutes until food is picked up and delivered to the table. I don’t want to wait 5 minutes for a sandwich to sit in the window when I’m on my way to work. Sandwich was dry, needed mustard and mayo, but I didn’t ask because I assumed I would be waiting a while to get it.

We have eaten at Green Sage for years. Unfortunately our food at this location was just terrible. The staff didnt seem to know what to do---the girl at the register could not subtract 12.95 from 25.00 (gift card) so I did it on my phone. The sandwich we ordered was so dry and wimpy---hardly any kimchi--which was falling out. Thin and dry---not a satisfying sandwich. They gave us about 10 fries (we split it thinking it would be plenty). We left hungry and felt we wasted our money. The cook needs to make the plates more satisfying for the price--we should have sent it back. Hope it works out for them at this location but they need some better management.

Been to Green Sage downtown AVL many times, but never this N AVL location before. Nice and large with in and outdoor seating. As usual good food, but the health score of 94 isnt impressive.

Bad first impression. I was excited when I found out the Green Sage was coming to Merrimon Avenue in a convenient location. However, if the service and wait times are anything like today, then it will take a lot to convince me to.come back. We waited in line for 25 minutes just to get to the counter to order. After ordering soup and salad and a sausage and egg biscuit, we had to wait another 20-25 minutes to get our food. When I inquired at the counter, the employees made excuses and brushed off my questions and concerns. The food was mediocre and I really do not understand why the wait time was so long. I am hoping that they did not prepare adequately for the Sunday after church crowd, so I am willing to give them another shot.

Excellent vegan options! Fresh and great service. They have three locations. I have our tried the Merriom location but wouldnt hesitate to visit any of the others.

Disappointing... ordered a sandwich and it was small, didnt come with chips or anything (used to before). I asked for fresh squeezed juice and was pointed to a bottle. This place has gone downhill. Also, the seats at this location are uncomfortable.

The staff today wasnt so friendly and the food was mediocre. I appreciate that its mostly organic and not to busy for dinner.

I think this place is going through some initial growing pains. We love Green Sages other locations, but the staff here seems to be a little aloof -- forgetting to ring up items, forgetting to bring out food, no trained barista, etc. That being said the management is very friendly and I think it will get better as they settle in. Will update as time goes on!

Little pricy but well worth it for the vegan food since its one of the few places that has great options for the cost. Always friendly staff I highly recommend eating here definitely one of my favorite places to go especially for the Mocha Milkshake 😋

A decent spot with healthy/GF options, but the more I frequent, the less excited I am to go back.When I first heard of Green Sage, I was thrilled that there was a healthy eatery in town with gluten free (“sensitive”) options and fresh juice. Unfortunately, the juice is not pressed to order and is kept in the cold case for a long time (5ish days?), really reducing its appeal. Though if you happen to buy a fresh one on “juicing day”, it’s delicious.Food and pastries are somewhat disappointing as well. Everything is tasty, but feels lacking in an I-can’t-put-my-ginger-on-it way. Pastries are GF (yay!) but taste like it (not yay!) — chalky, chewy, and cold. I suspect they similar to the juice and are not baked daily. Meal portions are large enough to be filling, and pricing seemed reasonable.Overall, it’s a nice enough place to sit (nice patio outside!) and the staff gets the job done (sometimes they seem overwhelmed, even on a fairly quiet morning). I get the feeling that after expanding to 4 locations, the quality has really taken a hit. I haven’t eaten here until recently, so who knows.
