Wow, best hot chocolate EVER! Why? Because its amazing high quality chocolate that is NOT very sweet, so if you like sweet, probably ask for a little sugar. They chai also is very authentic, not some liquid junk from a bottle. Did I mention the peanut butter cookie? Thats pretty dang tasty too. High marks for this place, especially that amazing hot chocolate.

Love the truffles! Am a little bummed that the true menu has been taken down and replaced with a TV- makes it difficult to order if you cant get your hands on a physical menu/see the pastry case before its your turn to pay. Wasnt thrilled that we were asked to switch tables out while actually dining- was an odd moment especially in Covid times. The bathroom was out of paper towels & toilet paper, we did tell staff on the way out.

The lines are very long, perhaps they could have a second line or register? I mean, the line was almost out the door. Also, the chocolate itself is not that great. It just tastes like mid-range, mass-produced chocolate (like Dove?). I got a caramel brownie, which was good but nothing special, and a box of the bonbons which were also just ok. They are still sitting in my kitchen. I also bought a package of chocolate bars as a gift for our pet sitter so I cant speak to the quality of those. Its a three star chocolate place, but Im giving four stars because it was nice to see a place that wasnt just an alcohol establishment. Maybe I just went on an extra busy day.

As lovely as Asheville has been this week, I must say most impressed by the service I received at French Broad Chocolate Lounge ! Tuesday Night Gabe was the most sincere, kind and attentive . So much so I went back to see if he was there again tonight (Thursday) but he wasn’t. Gabby and Jacob did also give excellent service and I just want to say Kudos to them for making me leave this town with a big smile of satisfaction. Not to mention the delicious delights of decadence !!!

Can I give 10 stars to this place? This is heaven on earth! Amazing hot chocolate, the best ever! There was a long line outside, because of the Covid 19 pandemic they control (very well) the amount of people inside the store, who is sitting and who is taking out. Every one must wear mask until seated and ready to eat or drink.

Wanted to enjoy this spot, but I personally thought their sweets were too sweet. I got a peanut butter cookie and a rose/cardamom/pistachio bonbon. The peanut butter had a great peanut butter flavor and had that sweet/salty moment, however I didnt even finish my entire cookie because of how sweet it was.The rose/cardamom/pistachio bonbon had a nice flavor to it and was nicely balanced, but again way too sweet that I struggled to finish it.The place is counter service and had a long line that moved fairly quickly. Well as an ex chocolatier/cashier at Hansel and Gretel Candy Factory in Helen GA. This place was very overpriced and confusing. They man who took my order touched my truffle without gloves on (yes it did have a paper cup on it but it’s still unsanitary to touch the product like that when giving it to a customer.) My coffee was great and the atmosphere was great too. Just wish they had better protocols to handling food and wish it was a little bit cheaper. $2.85 for a single truffle is kinda inside. $1.50 for the ones where I’m located.

I can not tell you how amazing both of these items were. Everyone there is super friendly. Get there early as they did run out of the chocolate raspberry torte that I originally wanted to try. Both nights! But at least they had the other items that I fell in love love with anyway. The liquid truffle was a espresso sized chocolate drink that taste like smooth warm pudding. Starbucks used to offer something similar like 15 years ago. Chantico or something like that. I loved that drink... this is even better! Their chocolate mousse ruined me. I got it to go, and I was walking around downtown eating it, and it was so good I suddenly realized that all the other chocolate mousse I had ever eaten was shamefully inadequate in comparison. I stopped in the street and started yelling Lies! All lies! at the top of my lungs. I can no longer eat any other chocolate mousse, and sometimes I lie awake in bed thinking about the sham my life was before that day.

They mean business when it comes to chocolate. Ordered the milk and cookies ice cream plus Buddha ice cream (dark chocolate) and a chocolate snickerdoodle cookie. The milk and cookies ice cream was definitely the best. I wasnt blown away by the snickerdoodle cookie but it sounded interesting. Service was good and they were friendly with the exception of inconsistency. We asked to try the ice cream flavors and were told that wasnt allowed due to covid restrictions. Not a problem, and we understood. After we ordered and sat down at the bar, we overheard two guys ordering ice cream and asking to try the flavors. The server, who was a different guy than the one who we ordered from, allowed them to sample. The service itself was fine, but they need to all be on the same page on their guidelines. It didnt seem right to allow some customers to sample and not others based on which server you happen to talk to...

Got the peanut butter cookies, they weren’t good at all. The peanut butter cookie on its own was very bland, it was like the Girl Scout Do-si-dos/Peanut Butter Sandwich With chocolate coating, but it was like the chocolate from a chocolate fountain and didn’t mix well at all, and the cookie itself was very dry and tasteless. And it was 3.50 for a cookie. Go to a supermarket and buy a box of better cookies to save yourself the trouble. The maple mocha special they had tasted like a milky mocha and was lukewarm. Im the type of reviewer who typically likes to concentrate on the possitive features each establishment has to offer, but unfortunately this chocolate lounge did not reach my expectations however they have a wide variety of chocolate truffles flavors which we didnt dare to try due to the price. Each at $2,85 seemed like a lot for company who produces its own raw materials. The drinking chocolate wasnt too special for the crazy line to get inside and again the price wasnt too friendly for 2 cups of chocolate and a slice of carrot cake. $17.85? I believe is the privileged location on the heart of a touristic town what gives them the option to charge those prices which I wouldnt mind to pay if the quality on the products was worth it. It took us 30 min to find a parking spot and close to another 30 minutes in a line to get hot chocolate which in the end wasnt that good. One thing I have to say is the service is excellent and the sitting area is very comfortable, they also offer free wifi therefore my 3 stars. One thing to ad on this review is that we wished we had the option to get white drinking chocolate, is kind of strange for a chocolate company these size and this popular does not offer that option.

I found this place to be over-hyped. The famous dark chocolate sipping chocolate was SUPER rich and thick to the point you could almost more use it as a chocolate dip for biscotti or something like that, but even shared between two people it was almost too rich to finish. The barista special (maple + smoked salt latte) was delicious!! We also bought a salted caramel browny, but it is dense to the point of being more like really dark dry fudge and we just cut off little bits here and there. Two days later, we still hadnt eaten the whole thing. We bought some boxes truffles/chocolates as gifts for family this Christmas, so I hope those are good. There was a lot we didnt try, so maybe we just got the wrong things. But based on our experience I would say if youre in the area and theres not a long line (it was out the door and along the building when we left) then try it out. But I didnt think it was worth waiting in line in the cold for.

So disappointed in my experience tonight. I always try to promote positive things about local restaurants and places of interest, but I have to be honest. I hadnt been to the French Broad Chocolate Lounge in several years, but I didnt recognize one thing from the delicious chocolate and desserts I remembered so fondly. The Hot Cocoa which was sublime in years gone by was undrinkable. There was only a smattering of chocolates displayed in the case, and it just didnt have the vibe I recall from their original location. My hope is that this review is seen by the powers that be, and they somehow are able to restore the magic that was once the French Broad Chocolate Lounge.
