I bought and returned 3 sets of lamps shades for a pair of lamps at various stores and returned each set. I brought my lamp into Biltmore Lamp & Shade and Nate was so helpful. He set me up with the perfect size shades and hardware needed to make the lamps looks even better then before. Pricey, yes, but worth every penny.

This is NOT the place for replacement lamp shades, unless perhaps you have a priceless antique lamp, are one of the super wealthy or are helpless. I made the mistake of ordering a replacement shade without proper attention to what the price came out to. Should have done my research first to simply buy on-line as the same shade (custom made) would have been around half the price and higher grade materials. To add insult to injury, I had to wait about 8 weeks for it to be delivered to the store. My mistake, I admit. But, the markup (not even compared to wholesale, but compared to direct-to-consumer on-line purchasing) is in a range I consider insultingly abusive. Hope these people never need anything from me, as this was an unforgettable experience.

With out a doubt, I can say that this is the only place to get your lamp shades or a lamp re-wired. I think every lamp in my house has made a trip to Asheville for a visit and a custom fitting of the perfect shade. There are very few places like Biltmore Lamp & Shade in the world and they certainly know how to make you feel special and welcome. I would recommend anyone who is in the market for lamps or shades to be sure to check out their great selection. While they are looking your lamp over, there are also plenty of antiques and nice objects or furniture to check out. I have several pieces from their antiques inventory in my house as well. I have never left here disappointed. Such a treasure, located in Asheville NC. ..... Check them out.
