I wholeheartedly trust James Park to work on our family violins and bows. Park Violins is a small workshop, so when you have a repair, you can be sure he is the one doing all the work. That being said, hes extremely quick with the turnarounds. He has an advanced degree in violin performance from a very top music school, but he also attended a top violin making school and a separate bow making schools. Ive never heard of anyone in the area having all these incredible qualifications. Hes also a really nice person, and he explains things really well. He may notice things that may be problematic at a future time on your instrument but never pushes you to get the extra work done. Hes very honest and will tell you what kind of work may change the tone, so you can make an informed decision. Years ago, he restored a beautiful, but unplayable, antique violin for me. He brought back the life to this violin and made it sing! Ive brought him more modern violins that sounded ill, and he magically cured them with a few adjustments. His bow re-hairs have never failed to impress me. Grateful to be a client for over 10 years!
Working with Mr. Park was an extremely easy and positive process, right from scheduling the initial, thorough assessment of my violin to the very quick delivery of the repairs needed. He really takes the time to thoughtfully share his honest and expert knowledge, like the priority and reasons behind each treatment, and how to best maintain the violin on your own, for longevity of play.I had previously gone somewhere else that tried to upsell me on everything to the point that it was cost-prohibitive for me to get repairs and I put aside my hope to play it again, for several years until I found this shop. James took into consideration my level of play as an adult hobbyist, and diagnosed what parts really needed attention for my purposes. I 100% believe he gave me and my instrument the same care and attention that he would give to an advanced professional with a finer instrument.Ann B
I am an adult student taking violin classes. This experience has been the most fun by far. Mr. Park has an amazing personality and I enjoyed every class that I took. He has the ability to listen and understand where I am in my learning curve and adjust his lessons to my skill level. Mr. Park is knowledgeable, professional, understanding and very patient. Even on the days that I don’t feel like going, I go and not only does it make my day I feel accomplished. Rental is affordable and instruments are great quality. The shop has everything you need to start and more. I highly recommend this teacher to anyone.
Have rented student violins for several years. Great quality and service.
My son has been taking lessons with Mr. James Park at Park Violins. Mr. James is a great teacher who is very patient with little kids. He is very particular about teaching the fundamentals, positions of hands and understanding the rhythm. My son enjoys the class and loves it when Mr. James plays songs with him making it a high energy jamming session! He also rents great quality instruments.
At the ripe old age of 65, I decided I wanted to learn to play the violin. Go figure!I know Ill never be able to play in an orchestra or be a concert violinist and in spite my limited musical future, Mr. Park is so supportive and is always encouraging me forward. He also has a great sense of humor! 😁I taught elementary-age children and Mr. Parks demeanour and approach would most likely encourage children to try their best without making them neurotic. So parents, if you decide to select Mr. Park to teach your children, dont interfere and let him do his thing.Ill end this review by also saying I am having so much fun!I give Mr. Park and Park Violin a resounding 5 stars!
