Our wedding cake turned out absolutely fantastic! We chose not to use a florist for our wedding, so instead supplied a silk/foam flower arrangement that we asked OMB to place. Not only did it turn out beautifully, but the cake itself was delicious! I had SEVERAL guests tell me that it was the BEST wedding cake they have ever had. The cake was moist, the filling was delicious and the buttercream was light and fluffy. Thank you, Oak Mill Bakery!

We had to use this place for our wedding cake because it was built into our venue’s package. Our wedding cake on our wedding night was delicious! Then for our one year anniversary, we called to order a small replica of our wedding cake and we were extremely disappointed. It had barely any of the custard we paid extra for in it and the cake had no flavor. Not sure if they have a different baker make the wedding cakes but they weren’t even close.

Our wedding venue’s cake provider was Oak Mill Bakery, and we were so happy with our experience using them! We really enjoyed our cake tasting with Susan. I never would have thought we would have picked a lemon cake with raspberry filling for our wedding, but it was so good! They were also great with accommodating my request for a small dairy free cake as well. It was one of the best chocolate dairy free cakes I’ve ever had. They were both decorated the same and turned out beautifully.

It was my dads birthday, i asked for a cake, they gave it to me and i paid $25. When it was time to eat the cake (1 hour later) the cake was OLD it was kept in the fridge the whole time. Standards are seriously falling at this place. I purchased my favorite cake “Success” for a birthday occasion. The cake was soooo dry, the chocolate on the sides and all over were falling apart when trying to slice a cake. Also the biggest disappointment was that they totally changed the cake taste. All we could taste was cinnamon or something resembling cinnamon. I’ve been buying from Oak Mill for so many years. I will never ever spend my hard earned $$$ at this place. Oh and the cake tasted like it’s been frozen for a very long time 🤢. I am so much disappointed !! That’s a shame. The owner maybe should do something about the falling standards. Oh well I am now $40 behind on a cake that ruined a birthday party and disappointed guests. I would have been much better off getting a basic sheet cake from Costco.... Oak Mill you sure did loose a long time customer!PS.At times like now businesses shouldn’t be taking our hard earned money for granted and not providing the best result.

I called them to ask a SIMPLE question about a wedding cake that required a yes or no response. I was cut off by the employee almost immediately. He was incredibly rude, didnt let me finish, and transferred me. I have no desire to give them my business after that interaction. Wow.

We have been ordering from Oakmill bakery for all of our occasion(birthdays, anniversaries) for the last 15 years, at least twice a year. This year I ordered two small cakes, 6, one was Truffle BC cake, one of our favorite. We loved their cakes and never had any issues with the quality or taste of the cakes in the past. This time the cake was falling apart, when we were cutting the pieces. The chocolate on the sides was falling into small pieces, it was too dry and did not taste fresh. It was definitely an old cake.. I called them just to share my feedback and they said I have to return 75% of the cake to be compensated somehow. I know they have a lot of customers but if they dont provide the proper customer service and good quality of their products, then they will start losing customers. I found other nice bakeries in the area that I will start ordering from in the future.

I placed a special order for a birthday cake over the phone at the last minute. Bill was extremely helpful, courteous, and accommodating with my request. The cake needed to be delivered to a distant location and I wasnt sure that this was even possible. Once again, Bill and his team exceeded my expectations and made it work. I did have to pay a substantial rush order and delivery fee, but my procrastination wasnt the bakerys fault. My friend enjoyed his cake and said it tasted fresh and delicious. Thank you to Bill and his team for their efforts! I highly recommend Oak Mill Bakery and look forward to using their services again soon.

Really bad and unpleasant customer service, after which does not want to have business with bakery again.We were buying cakes at this bakery for over 20 years, the same cake but few times a year. Cake name is Poznanski.When the last time purchased this cake for birthday, bringing home and cutting for guests we found out that for some reason recipe was screwed up. Cake had cinnamon added to it, when it should not be there at all.Unfortunately, a person who had birthday has allergy for cinnamon and we had to remove cake form the table.Next day contacted store and explained the situation with wrong recipe and allergy. They asked to bring it in and said that will give a call us next day, and they did.Unfortunately, they NEVER apologize, not even a word, they simply said that they cannot give us a credit, even partial because we did not returned 75% of cake.I know we are not the only customer there and they might survive without us but still, not carrying for the customers and their health and bringing up completely unreasonable request to bring back 75% of the cake to get refund, when cake already cut and eaten by guests - IT IS WRONG.30 bucks for a cake that was purchased are not a big money, they can keep it, but REPUTATION of bad service and not carrying for customer is much more valuable.Hopefully, it will be spread and people will be aware of such bad experience.Update 2020/11/19 - Response to Oak Mill Bakery - Unfortunately, reply from this Business is not correct.First of all, NO ONE APOLOGIZED to me, not the owner, not the manager. Second, recipe was wrong and taste was not the same as before, based on many purchases of this cake that we made. There was a cinnamon added and it gave taste, and I had allergy reaction.Third, cake was eaten at 50 % and 50% were returned to the bakery and even 50% of the price were not refunded.Forth, how manager or whoever accepted this cake say for sure that cinnamon was not there if they did not try it. It is a lie.And final - if you are trying to stay in business these days then try to do something good to your long time customers, even if they are buying for $30 or less.You need to stand behind of your product, of something that you bake, but you dont even have guts to accept that cake wasnt make up to correct recipe.Or maybe it is just discrimination because we are not Polish and you dont want to deal with other nationalities?I wish I would get a picture of amount of that cake that was returned and to prove that there was a 50%. And by the way if you were not going to refund then why didnt you just gave us back remainder of that cake?Does it look fair to you if some one took something from you and didnt apologize or gave at least something in return?

Hands down the best place to order a cake. I want to thank everyone that work there, we ordered a cake for my daughters second birthday(a baby shark theme). From the moment my husband stopped there to get information everybody were very nice, then the manager(Bill) was always keeping in touch making sure we were getting our cake the way we wanted. The result exceeded our expectations. The cake was beautiful, and so delicious. Thank you Oak Mill Bakery cant wait to order my next cake from there.

Ambrosia cake looked great. We couldnt taste the hazelnuts but we tasted cinnamon insted which really spoiled the flavor.

Dont want to explain anything and are very condescending. Today Marta F not only yelled at me and told me I was having a bad day but was rude and condescending. Please work on your customer service skills.

I was searching for a bakery to create a custom two layer cake for a 50th Rock birthday party. What can I say, I dreamt it up and Oak Mill made it happen! Not to mention the cake was moist and the fruit was fresh.. SO DELICIOUS! I highly recommend Oak Mill for all occasions.

“Polish Paczki Day” disaster and disappointment. Dry and solid dough, cheap filling, probably cooked day before or earlier, maybe frozen, like for example famous cakes, certainly not fresh, pricey although looking good, but unfortunately deceiving. Customer service very unpleasant, especially represented by one lady without the name with the heavy Eastern European accent. Seems to me like very unhappy with what she supposed to do, like at list taking care of the customer and his needs .I was mistreated twice, by the same person, first during my visit in the store when I pointed her, that I was charged incorrectly for two of them, showing her existing mistake, which she left with no explanation whatsoever and second when I called the store to complain about it. Throughout of all our phone conversation, she introduced herself as person in charge, which I asked to speak with, she was pretending like she was someone else, prompting me to describe “that person I deal with “- ironically herself and at the end and at the highest point of my frustration, refusing revealing me her name, saying : “we don’t have last names at Oak Mill Bakery”. She continued with escalation of that unpleasant situation with her insolent behavior and attitude, saying that I’m only one disappointed, showing no remorse and at the end, she hangs up on me. The famous, even in USA paczki day, “Fat Tuesday” is coming and my advice will be to find the different place to buy it. I can only regret my poor choice, going to the place which is overrated and spoiled probably with their fading fame and success. Just for the record, “ I’m not the only one “, please check the previous reviews and that was only reason why I decided to write mine . I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with this Oak Mill Bakery. I resented my “consultation” (if one can even call it that). I spoke to a very indifferent and unprofessional consultant (Bill) - who took the first picture I sent and priced that instead of speaking and discussing the order with me. This was suppose to be for my mom’s 50th birthday - a very special occasion we wanted an Oak Mill cake for (because this is how much we love this bakery).I ended up paying for a cake that was not worth it’s hefty price. I expected so much. I am so sad and unhappy with the turn-out.

Update your cake menu. Spent too much of my time attempting to order based on what the in-store menu stated as far as sizes. Each time the salesperson had to go back and check whether the size was available. Upon coming back, they confirmed that most cakes cannot be ordered despite the menu stating Any size. This place used to be better.

Our wedding venue switched to Oak Mill Bakery as their cake provider in the midst of our planning process. We are glad they did! The cake tasting was so fun (and tasty!). Susan was wonderful to work with. She was super patient as we talked through was we wanted, what we liked etc. And the cake was so good. On our wedding, the cake looked beautiful and tasted great. We will definitely seek out Oak Mill Bakery for future bakery needs!

Oak Mill Bakery designed a lovely cake for my bridal shower. The amount of detail was amazing as it matched my bridal shower invitation perfectly. It was a delicious vanilla cake with fresh raspberries and passion fruit filling. Definitely a hit among my guests. I cant wait to see my wedding cake in August that they are making!

This bakery has to be the most magnificent bakery in the world. The employees here were extremely helpful when i was ordering my wedding cake. Their pastrys and other baked goods are to die for with one of my personal favorites being their fruit tarts and rye bread. If i ever was given the opportunity to thank the owner of the bakery i would cherish that memory forever.

What a lovely experience we had today in choosing a wedding cake. The cakes we tasted to make our decision where just delicious. This bakery has delicious pastries and the best cakes ever. Our wedding venue gave us the choice of 3 bakeries and we did tastings at all and this one was by far the best. We picked two flavors and both came out moist and tasty. We saved some for our anniversary it tasted excellent then as well. We still have not found a cake we like near as much.

Susan and the team at Oak Mill Bakery did such a great with a cake for our August wedding.All our guests loved the flavors (lemon and vanilla cakes with raspberry buttercream in the middle), and it was so much fun to bring our own style into the cake with all the sprinkles that came with it. It was stunning and fun at the same time!

I was excited to try this place, lived by it for years. I was confused as to the pricing and what was on display; a little card with what each thing was wouldve helped a lot. I asked an employee to tell me what was what but her responses were very short and vague. I had to ask 3 different ways and I still dont know what I bought.I got 5 different things. The fruit tart is good but the other cakes were very dry. The fillings were not enough to moisten them. The mocha cake was very disappointing. It was strangely hard and dry, but its taste was indescribable.I was put off a lot due to the employee (the other employee did seem much nicer). The cakes taste clinched it for me so I wont be returning.

Arlington Heights Location - this place has gone downhill over the years. You need to know exactly what you want and cannot rely on any help or advice when making a selection. We have spent hundreds of dollars on numerous orders each year for as long as weve lived in the area. Each year the people behind the counter are progressively less knowledgeable and increasingly unfriendly. The young man helping us (if you can call it help) today was either high, slow or entirely disinterested in providing any type of service. Even my young child said, I think hes either annoyed with us or he just doesnt want us here. We ended up going to another European bakery in the area that offered both helpful suggestions and friendly service. I brought many new customers to this location and will be ensuring that they are all aware of this terrible service we received over the last two years. We will NOT be coming back.

BEST WEDDING CAKE EVER!! We were in love with our cake. I wish I could upload a video of one of our groomsmen stuffing his face with our cake saying that it is the best cake he has ever had at wedding.We worked with Susan who was awesome to work with and let us try so many different options.I cannot wait for our year anniversary to eat the top tier of our wedding cake.

Nothing too special. Tested this place for my sons bday. (Cookie, cake, cupcakes) It was ok inside. Everything I tasted was nothing different/special from what I could get from Jewel or Costco. More overpriced. However there were a few pastries very pretty in decor. If you want it for the look, this is the place. If you want it for a great taste, rather its a cake or cupcake, Id spend my money elsewhere.

Love their cakes! The service is okay, laid back, and not too good when in a hurry. But the cakes, pastries, bread, you name it... all amazing. You can order ahead for some pretty awesome themed cakes, and their flavor menu is pretty big too. Never tried anything disappointing here, everything tastes awesome.

I would highly recommend this business to anyone that has a cravings for sweets. their have very knowledgeable and fast staff. if you need anything from bread to wedding cakes I would recommend you go to this establishment.

About an HR before arriving I ordered a birthday cake for my wife. When I arrived to the store I was being cordial and said hello to the clerk, after trying to make some small talk being nice the woman working there was emotion less and seemed cold towards me as if she did not have a personality. No big deal I thought. I explained I was there to pick up a cake. As I was waiting for the order I wanted to make a video of the beautiful pastries they have in the store. That same woman told me that I dont have the right to film anything in the store, says who I said ? I told her whats the big deal, I am making a video for my wife to show her what they have in the bakery. She tried mentioning something like I would need a permit to film things in the store. I said what? With my smart phone? I felt very uncomfortable with her demeanor and attitude, I felt violated like a right was given up from me. I find everyone now a days making videos with there phones everywhere but for some apparent weird reason I cant. Ok, sorry but no offense I felt violated, the woman is from Poland and just because she comes from what use to be a communist country that she ran away from because her rights were taken away does not mean she has to come to this country and bring those disgusting communist traits back to the usa, like a good servant I purchased this cake, but this will be the last time I ever return there again, btw so you all know its the Arlington Heights store

I have been coming to this store for years. The product its self is decent, cakes, cookies, etc. Havent had anything that has seemed old. I would give a 4 for the product but a ZERO if possible for the customer service. HORRIBLE!! I have purposely gone out of my way to other oak mills. In general most of the girls are helpful but i have continually ran into problems with one young female and by the other reviews I think it was the manager Melissa. She is absolutely rude! She doesnt come and offer help or when she is helping you she will rush you. I have gotten many EYE ROLLS from this girl. 1 being young you think she would be more friendly but 2 YOU ARE THE MANAGER. I would NEVER let this girl represent my store. Unbelievable. If you want people to come in, get rid of her. The fact that i avoid this store because of the workers. Shameful.

My favorite Polish-American bakery in the Northwest suburbs. They have two wonderful hazelnut cakes that are perfect for birthdays.

I came in this bakery a few days ago (not my first time) during the weekend to purchase a few items and everyone seemed very knowledgeable of the products and extremely friendly. I don’t understand all the bad reviews on “attitude” maybe some of you should check your own attitudes at the door before coming in and blaming these girls. OAK MILL BAKERY HAS MY HEART!! Definitely recommend

Customer service is really nice and helpful. I always have a lot of questions and I wasnt decided about my choice but those girls helped me a lot. I also asked for the manager of the store to tell me about tastes and prices. She was really nice and patient, she also helped me choose the cake that I would really enjoy and I was really satisfy with the choice! I recommend that store for everybody who love European bakery. We brought Birth day cake Black forest, The taste was odd seems to be expired cake . The bottom of the cake has foul smell probably the entire cake tastes the smell on which the card board the cake is placed on, I am not how this business has 4.0+review with such an disaster taste of the products they make.Pleases ask for the expiry of the product you purchase . I am confident that the most of the products are old and near to the expired date ...I highly dont recommend Oak Mill Bakery at all ...

As our venues preferred vendor, we picked our vanilla cake with fudge filling from the Arlington Heights location and it was perfect! We could definitely see why our venue loves to work with them-- they were so helpful and the cake was absolutely delicious. A couple of brides that I have talked to said that their cakes from other vendors did not taste the same at the tasting as it did at the wedding, but this was not a problem with Oak Mill. It tasted just as amazing as it did when we went to our tasting. When I was scrambling with last minute wedding details, they were the ones that called me to confirm, which was such a relief because I would have definitely forgot to call and might have panicked later. They also accommodated my heavy cake topper without any issue. If you want to make sure that your wedding cake is beautiful, delicious, and taken care of without any stress, Oak Mill is the way to go.

An Oak Mill Bakery wedding cake came with our venue so we werent expecting much but it was so great!! It was so much fun to be able to pick out a custom cake and for our New Years Eve wedding we decided to go with funfetti cake and everyone loved it!!

The best bakery in Chicago - my family has been buying cakes here for years. Sometimes the customer service is spotty but Ive noticed a huge improvement recently and have heard the next generation of the family is making a lot of changes. Hope it continues!

Came at 6:54. Store closes at 7. Drove 30 min from Vernon Hills with baby. Wanted to order cake for baptism. Lady refused to take order because she said it will take them more then 6 min to completed it. She didnt even wanted to start order and finish it tomorrow eventhough there was some time till closing . Very disappointed

Email was not responded to in a timely matter and had to go into the shop to get a quote after not receiving a response. Ordered cupcakes and cookies for a bridal shower. The cupcakes were hard and awful. It was as if they were made days before. Not fresh at all. The cookies looked like they rushed through the design and left out a detail on them. I am by no means a professional baker but could have done a better job had I had more time and werent in my third trimester. Very over priced for what I received. If I could give a 0 star I would.
