The staff there was very nice except for one person. I arrive and I say hello. You need to make an appointment. We go on a lunch break and Im not saying sorry for that So I set the appointment. Come back. I see three people. First two were very nice. The third.. Wow. I did my research on several items I had. Look I get it. They need to make money but oh my God. Tried to low ball me in the worst way. My only response. At those prices I will donate them. She said she was offended. Later on. I thought. Well if you think giving to a charity for battered women is greater then your pride. I drove away. Sad because I had many items they will never see.

Been going here for years... You can go year after year and see the same exact things. WHY? overly priced is one reason and this past visit will be the last. The total vibe in there has changed. Very unfriendly bunch in there now. I was 15 feet from the front counter by the very outside door and removed my mask... You wouldve thought I was breathing right at them... Got yelled at to put it back on or go outside which believe me after spending two hours in that hothouse was a pleasure. Their sign requests no argument or abuse about the mask thing but that was a bit over the top. They wont have to worry about it with us anymore.

Id actually give this place a zero given the terrible customer service, but unfortunately that is not an option. Its quite unbelievable how rude the ugly and clearly neurotic younger brunette and the older lady with the short white hair are to customers. Giving your money to such an establishment is basically encouraging terrible customer service. Nobody needs to buy antiques to survive, we buy it for our pleasure so your business exists because of good customers period. The irony with the whole covid situation is that Ive seen their staff not wearing a mask while walking around the store on at least one occasion. Wake up people, we need to bring good customer service back, the concept has been waning for too long now. You can say the worst thing in the best way or the best thing in the worst way, this is the critical difference between effective and terrible communication. It doesnt matter what rules you are following in your store, whether covid or otherwise, you dont have any rights to verbally assault customers. For any customers reading this who actually care about being treated with respect, especially when you are spending money at an establishment, take a look at the reviews here and see how many separate instances there are in which the customer was mistreated.

Whenever my mom visits, which is usually once a year, we always come here to find some goodies, and are never disappointed! I see some reviews about how being followed around is annoying, which I thought as well the first time I ever came here (I thought I was being followed just because of how I look and that they thought I was going to steal something), but I really love that they always offer to take things you’re interested up front for you, which makes it easier to look at more things. If I ever end up changing my mind about something they took up, it’s never seemed like a huge inconvenience and they’re always willing to put the item back in its booth. Today was my first day going to an antique store since the pandemic began, and I was very pleased with how well they made sure everyone had on their masks, and had the hand sanitizer station. Left with a nice assortment and can’t wait to get it displayed in my home! Thank you guys for always being great 💕

It’s a shame for all the vendors with all of there great items, they should ban together and go elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and NEVER shop here to experience their negativity and downright unacceptable behavior. The mall was wonderful, the items were reasonably priced and we really loved it. However there is a younger employee there that was rude to us and her coworkers. She is impatient and sarcastic which we didn’t like. We asked her at one point “did Covid hit your business hard?” And she condescendingly stated “Umm, yeah?! We were closed for like 3 months!” And we were hurt and stayed “oh right, geez..” and she was condescending and snippy with her older coworker who was slower and hard of hearing. Which we found unprofessional and rude. Besides our experience with that persons, our first trip to the mall was lovely and we’ll come back!Edit: the fact the lady has the audacity to respond condescendingly to any small amount of criticism in the reviews shows she has a lack of grace and professionalism. Learn to choose your battles and not get so defensive -like an adult should. Grow up.

We were there 90 minutes and didnt get through the building. We were taking our time. This place is like walking through a time capsule. It has tons of vintage items from military items, toys, jewelery, books, furniture, clothing & pretty much anything you could possibly want. Very rude and unwelcoming experience here. We arrived 45 minutes to close and we planned to get a quick look at the stock for a second trip back, and look at any open dealer spaces - however well never be going back. For the next 40 minutes staff kept coming around and telling us theyre closing soon (to the point it was obnoxiously annoying), followed by an older woman who hovered and then told us we must take anything purchases to the cash register (20 minutes to close). As we made our way back towards the front one of the people working said really loud do they even know that were closing? and shortly after an older gentleman looked at us and said were closed (and it wasnt even 6pm yet). Ive never seen a shop so eager to push people out the door rather than provide a good experience.EDIT: Thanks for the response. The response encapsulates and reiterates my whole experience with this shop.

Very nice mall with a good selection, especially smalls, and not too expensive. Much more jewelry than I expected, with good prices. Staff walk the floor, offering to get keys or to take things to be held at the front desk - they all seemed far too busy working to follow anybody around. They have a vintage jukebox playing, too. Furniture selection is lacking... this mall is divided into small booths that dont really offer enough room to carry much furniture. But if you are looking for pretty much anything else, you might find it here. Theres a little bit of new junk, but not too much. I made some scores, Ill definitely be back.

Every time we’ve gone to the Oakton Street Antique Store there is a cashier named Jackie that just makes the end of the visit to this wonderful antique store “unbearable”. I cannot actually say I have ever met a ruder person working in any form of sales. The items in the antique mall can often be quite amazing and I do not think we have ever left there without purchasing something. But this woman, Jackie, is full of herself, arrogant, overbearing, and in short takes a simple financial transaction of ringing someone up at a register and making it confrontational and unpleasant to the point where I no longer want to return to do business. I simply do not want to encounter her again in my life. The booth vendors that sell their antiques there as well as the customers are both worse off because of her personality and demeanor in the public view. This does not include Jackie’s lack of knowledge of how to care for or tend to real antique items and has damaged them during the check-out process. Even when asked to handle the items gently, especially paper ephemera, she will snipe at you and tell you she has experience, while she spills her drink on the counter. No one needs to purchase antiques they choose to, because it is a pleasurable experience. I choose them not to purchase them anymore at the Oakton Street Antique store. Not angry. Just disappointed.

Qu
Review №61

Despite its name, Oakton is NOT an antique center. You will find few true antiques (that is, items over 100 years old). However, if you are looking for collectible and vintage items, welcome to a collectors utopia!I have been here several times and have found the proprietors to be friendly and helpful- most are familiar with each others booths and will direct you to what youre looking for (even if it isnt theirs). Ive gotten some pretty rare and unusual items, but its important to look everywhere (up, down, under, across) as the booths are mostly overflowing with stuff and cant display every piece. Most of the wares seem to fall into the 40s-60s era, with some pieces from earlier and later years. A few booths have modern items mixed in or as their main stock, particularly the comic book and toy collectors. One thing to keep in mind however is that there are no pricing standards, so look carefully in case another vendor has the same item. Some dealers will haggle, but be sure to do your own research on anything specific at home before trying to reach a price. Its always worth a visit, as theres a million things to look at, and the staff rotates (although you can usually call or e-mail a specific proprietor if you need to talk) almost as often as the stock!

Not sure what all the bad reviews are about. I visit many antique shops far and wide, and although so far Columbus Antique Mall is the one to beat, it is just way too far to drive for me on a regular basis. Oakton is definitely in my top five list, with a very wide variety of dealers and products. The prices were decent, and Ive always found something I needed for my collection at a wonderful price. The dealers were friendly, and there was always a keyring-bearing staff circling about to open cases. The vintage jukebox inside cranks out endless tunes that I recognize from my youth.Security seems a little tight, though I assume that they may have had problems with theft--graffiti on an otherwise cute little red caboose a few lots down would make any business watch their merchandise like a hawk. Aside from that, I put Oakton on the best bang for your buck category. Especially after finding a complete, near mint Victorian chatelaine for just under 400$! An added bonus is its very close proximity to Mitsuwa Marketplace, and being a less than 45 minute drive from the south side.
