Smaller than the corporate owned Safeways, but I still managed to get a 68% savings today with good meal choices! Best savings I have had at any Safeway in California this past year. This Safeway ROCKS!

I had a bad interaction with the self check out cashier, I was in line with beer, not seeing the sign that you cant purchase beer it the self checkout line. I brought it to his attention that the register was locked and his response was you cant buy alcohol in this line cant you READ I thought that a little too much.

Good store nice and clean. Register personal are nice and helpful. Also they make good sandwiches here...

Need to learn how to make sandwiches. They didnt offer any veggies at all. Just threw some mayo, turkey, and bacon on a roll and wrapped it up. Seriously tho.

This location is constantly out of items that are on my shopping list. They often stop stocking items that are popular and take a very long time to restock items that are sold out, sometimes more than a week! I seldom go to this store before 6 or 7pm because they treat most people who come into the store as if they are thieves.

This store is always pretty clean the self check-out is Great I was in and out quicker than usual. 😻

The Safeway store here in Arcata, CA seems to be the forgotten stepchild of the company. Irregularly restocked. Little more than a fancy convenience store. Good for getting a quick resupply but frankly useless for any real grocery shopping trip. If Im going to do a serious grocery trip I have to drive to Eureka or McKinnlyville. Since the chain has a virtual monopoly here choices are limited in all of their stores here in Humboldt County. The community deserves better

Missing a lot of products. Empty shelves everywhere and the pharmacy has been closed for a long time. Useful for the basics, but you should get what you need before you leave Eureka or whatever points south.

The deli was frustrating to deal with. The worker there was confused and I had to explain to him that I ordered meal 2, a preset meal with an entree and sides. Once I ordered, he gave me heaps of coleslaw and potato fries and two bony pieces of chicken not fit for a starving dog to eat. Other than the deli the rest of the place was okay.

I’ve always enjoyed the Arcata Safeway. It brings back memories from my childhood when my grandmother was alive. Her and my grandfather built the Arcata trailer Park over on alliance Road. It used to be called “Mac’s mobile manner.” And my grandfather built it back in early 1960’s.The trailer park is still there but they are both long gone. Sad that things out live people. That however won’t always be the case. (Psalms 37: 9~11,29,34)My grandmother shopped at Safeway and so I am following her example. The Arcata Safeway though has a special place in my heart because with this was her Safeway. And and until just a few years ago there was actually one man that still worked at the Safeway that knew my grandmother Estelle and her sister Mammie.Thank you Safeway for still being here, for one thing, and for still taking good care of your customers.Sincerely Tammie 🙂

Definitely feel betwixt with this Mckinleyville Safeway. Usually food is fresh until lately shipping problems and such great flowers and such. But the prices! Ouch!

I enjoy Safe-Way, the store is always clean, the staff are kind and helpful. The store carries a large variety of organic fruits and vegetables along with vegetarian, gluten free, and paleo diet options, and of course the quick fix meals that have become essential in today’s busy lifestyles.

Friendly clean just makes it enjoyable to be there and shop

While it was 10PM the cashier was able to help me with my purchase of cheese and sauce. I left my stove on and everything went great.

Its got food its got aisles its got cashiers and its got people walking around collecting carts in the parking lot sometimes theres a guy that plays saxophone out front for some reason every time I go in there theyre usually not very well stocked maybe I can get a job as a stock boy you know they need one

I have never seen more stingy and unpleasant deli employees.

Poor kids making minimum wage forced to treat unmasked customers like lepers despite the new CDCs new guidance coupled with logic and reason. Really sad, did all my shopping no problem, got to self check out and some little tyrant screeches at me about not having a mask on. I let her know Im paying and leaving so Im not going to put a mask on, the little tyrant cancels my check out and takes the items. She puts them in a basket just out of my reach and stomped off huffing and puffing. I grabbed the items, rang them up, paid when another screeching Karen came up to further waist energy trying to get me to wear a mask.Really sad, they dont get paid enough to enforce anything, and furthermore no employee of any company has any authority over their customers. Period. But obviously someone at Safeway Corporate is a crazy face loony tune.

I shop here when Im in a hurry..prices are a little high.

I go here for certain items but they are over priced on most other things. Winco is a much better deal for meats,cheeses and produce. The staff has gotten a little better but for the most part i dont find them to be particularly helpful and/or pleasant. Only go there once in awhile.

Great store has everything you need. Store is very clean, I constantly see clerks cleaning and sanitizing. It’s fantastic! I also noticed that they have been having all checkstands open pretty much every time I go which really helps especially with everything going on right now. I did notice the other day a person come in and not have a mask, but a manager was there immediately and gave them a blue paper mask! It was awesome to see, but I think they shouldn’t have to give a mask out. We all know we have to wear one so just bring your mask when your going in public! It’s literally everywhere you go. This store is my favorite store and the employees really are great!!!

This location is outdated and could really use a remodel. The location is convenient but theres lots of hobos since it is located downtown Arcata.

Its a Safeway on the nicer side of Safeway stores.

Typical Safeway except very crowded with displays all around that make it difficult for two carts to pass. Since they installed self checkout station they reduced the number of checkout clerks. This slows you down quite a bit.

I do a lot of floral design and this is a great place to pick up flowers at the last minute.

Good place to shop if u have a safeway card for the good deals n the bathrooms are clean

Very nice store with a great set up. New self check out is nice but they also have checkers available to check, it’s very clean and well stocked especially with this Covid 19 going around. Thank you to the employees working and really being great with the public! Deserves all 5 stars!

The lines are always long.

This store honors civil rights for customers but they need to stop requiring masks for their employees and honor their rights too. Safeway Arcata discriminate by forcing their staff to wear masks. Ca reg 1591 defines mask as medical device (9b) BCP code 2052 defines any person who attempts to practice, or who advertises or holds himself or herself out as practicing, treating the sick [OR HEALTHY?] or afflicted in this state, or who diagnoses, treats, operates for, or prescribes for any ailment, blemish, deformity, disease...is guilty of a public offense, punishable by a fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars ($10,000), by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year, or by both the fine and either imprisonment.

Awesome bakery.

This is an older Safeway and not one of my preferred Safeways to shop at mainly because the store feels small and cramped for space. It is usually busy when I do shop here, so the area in front of the checkout is usually crowded and the lines end up blocking the other aisles. One thing I have noticed is this store and Safeway stores in general are usually very cold inside. Its a shopping buzzkill because I have to dress accordingly or rush through the store as quickly as possible to avoid getting too cold. The line situation makes that a challenge though. I typically recommend wearing warm clothing if shopping at Safeway.

The store is still way too cramped for covid safety protocols in my opinion.

Small for a Safeway, you know what youre getting here. Hot food, deli, & meat dept on location. Never competitive with WinCo on price they are quieter and, if youre reading this, more convenient.

Clean store. The beer selection could be better. Deli has nice amount of prepaid selections. Their sandwich options are pretty good. Hot soup available. Their fresh guacamole is good. Helpful staff. Their donuts are very good. Highly recommend.

Prices unbeatable, quality quite good, and amazing hours. Staff professional and quality, if a little over worked. Best grocery store in town if youre looking at bang for your buck and dont mind crazy people in the parking lot.

First, Safeway has been a great place to shop. Most of the employees have been nothing but great to me. Sadly enough, there has been one employee that has been regularly disrespected to me. The point is that, we all know who he is. He has been transfer from clerk, to the person who just stocks. This individual, not a gentleman, has taking advantage of his position and degraded the customers. Tonight, he has proven to be nothing but a bully. As I was running to get some groceries for the next few days, he closed the door on me. I still had time get a quick dinner( I work late, I don’t have time to shop in the morning). By the look of his eyes, he looked like has had a satisfaction from denning me from getting my basic needs. I have never felt more humiliated. I was just trying to get some food. This individual has poisoned my late night experience at Safeway.If Safeway wishes to know the name of this individual, I would be gladly point him out. I’m just tired of being treated like I don’t matter.

The staff is friendly and efficient! I shop here quite frequently and I never have a problem. It’s nice to walk into a store knowing that all the products you need are going to be there.I enjoy going to deli and getting there sandwiches they are always so helpful and offering samples of there new products that come in! Produce is always fresh, there meat department is by far the best in town! They have some great deals but I feel like some people like to just complain instead of looking for the good deals! No matter where you go some places will have higher/lower prices on different items it’s the way it is. But quite honestly Safeway has the better quality. Go to winco yeah it might be cheaper but your getting the worst quality of those items. I shop here because the people are great and the quality is outstanding. My #1 shopping place! Love it here!

The Safeway chain runs ads, Just4U coupons and Friday-only special deals that save me 50% or more. The employees tend to be quite knowledgeable and friendly, which can be hard-to-find in other chain stores. I usually find everything that I need at Safeway, so thats where I shop even when Im out-of-town.

The girl at self-check was not that nice, as with many new employees but I never have issue with the longterm employees

This store has a friendly staff . Store is well stocked and they have the items you need. I don’t ever wait in line at all anymore. They call when they notice that there is more people walking to the front. The baggers jump in to help with the lines are starting to add up. It feels like they actually care! I really enjoy shopping here. i Think this is the best ran Safeway out of the other ones.

I shop here practically every day. The store is small but clean and organized and you can always get what you want/need. They have more checkers than I’ve seen in any other location. It’s a great store and I recommend it to everyone!

Open later then everything except convenience stores. Best selection of common national brands, with a limited selection of organic. Ironically they have the highest price on there limited selection truly locally produced goods, and less checkers per customer than any store in North America, Western Europe, and Maldives.

Not Bad, very peaceful at night and not bustling which makes for a more enjoyable experience. I prefer less people the better. Im not happy bout the inventory they dont restock items that I prefer regularly its inconsistent which sucks sometimes it takes them a month before items get restocked. They also have issues with keeping employees and it also plays part of inconsistency Im sure.

The employees here are very nice, my cashier today Madeline was very professional and patient with an extremely difficult person who was ahead of me in line! A++ customer service!
