I found these guys by accident on Reverb. They sold me an amazing trombone that was even better than described. They packed a professionally and it was extremely well protected. They even threw in some swag like a water bottle and a t-shirt. If I ever find my way to Wisconsin, I would love to go visit their store because they are clearly some really awesome people. I love supporting small music businesses because they have really dropped off the map where I live.

This is a very huge place covering several store fronts. It has great people some of which I used to work with at Henrys music. They are the go-to place for school band, pianos, and then of course the rock and roll department.

Chris in instrument repairs is a huge asset to this area. I own an old (100+ years) Heckel Bassoon and am extremely particular about who I allow to work on it; I usually travel to Canada or Seattle for repairs I cant do myself. The other week I had a sticking key I couldnt fix before a show and took it to Chris. He fixed it quickly and easily.I then interrogated him about his process for taking off all the keys, cleaning and oiling the instrument. He was detailed in his answers and follows the same thorough procedures I do. He also was specific in his method for oiling the very old beautiful wood. So I felt comfortable having him do the full service instead of taking my instrument out of town. And I am so glad I did. He was extremely diligent and careful. This is the cleanest my bassoon has been and the wood is glossy beautiful.The best words to describe Chris are meticulous and caring. He knew he was working on a legacy instrument with a neurotic owner and did a fantastic job showing it respect and answering my million questions. Chris is an excellent woodwind repair technician and we are lucky to have someone of his skill in this area.

Ordered a guitar online from Heid. I received an email asking me how I wanted it set up and then another to let me know they were holding it over the weekend instead of shipping it over the weekend and exposing it to sub zero temperatures. Tyler and Kevin have great customer service in the guitar department...I live in green bay but prefer the appleton location. Made sure I got a used guitar that I really wanted and had on hold.

Disappointed that one small pad replacement on my clarinet would take 7-10 days even when told it was for a concert in a few days. 2nd star was for the front desk gentleman (Kevin?) who was very helpful.

My 13 year old and I visited Heid Music, inquiring about guitars and guitar lessons. Logan, at the Green Bay store, was unbelievably professional, helpful, and patient--even as the hour was near store close. Logan took the time to show my son the various types of guitars, share necessary information, patiently let him get a feel for the different acoustic guitars, and even taught him a couple chords. We were in in need of a smaller sized guitar, so Logan had a couple choices sent from the Appleton store, which arrived the next day. Logan again was extremely helpful, as we received the same excellent help/service as our first visit. My son and I are very appreciative for Logans expertise and above-and-beyond good customer service. We purchased a guitar just right for my son, and definitely recommend Heid Music. Jonathan, was very helpful. I had requested more information on the guitar I was considering (photos and such) and he didnt hesitate to send me what I requested. While I didnt end up purchasing the guitar, he was still very gracious for my interest in the guitar was very cordial. As a guitar collector, its very rare to find a seller so easy and obliging to deal with. I hope to do business with Jonathan in the future. :-)

This place is outstanding. My son plays guitar and I foolishly tried to replace his strings. He has a 7 string Jackson with a Floyd Rose. I thought I wrecked it but the guys at Heid had it back to perfect for about $70. I had about a 20 minute conversation in there and learned some very useful information on guitar maintenance. Those guys know there stuff and dont mind sharing wisdom. My son took lessons there about 4 years ago too. He didnt last long because hes a bit of a natural but, again, they were always very friendly and knowledgeable.

We had a great buying experience with Heid Music via Reverb. We found the guitar that we had been searching for at Heid Music and placed our order. I had a question about shipping and got an instant reply. The guitar arrived and was more than adequately packed which from my guitar buying experience, is a major plus. The only issue we had with our experience had to do with a flaw in the pick-guard. When I sent a picture into Heid to just let them know that this might be an issue with other guitars, they immediately apologized and have since started the process to get a new pick-guard to me! Top notch experience.

My daughter just had her first piano lessons at Heid Appleton, it’s her second year of piano. She was nervous until we walked in the door. We were greeted immediately, walked to the studio, introduced to the instructor who had our books reserved for us and our registration ready. It was stress free for me and my daughter loved the space, the instructor and the experience.

Purchased a mandolin that was on back-order (back-ordered by the manufacturer, not Heid). I was constantly kept in the loop regarding any status updates, rarely even having to ask and received an extremely quick response when I did ask any qs. Eventually received the mandolin which was packed incredibly well. Heid even when out of their way to make a slight setup adjustment I had requested at no additional charge. I would not hesitate to purchase another instrument, nor any other product for that matter, from Heid again - you really shouldnt either! 5 stars!

Heid Music is more than a store. They are an integral part of our community and become a like a part of our family. From renting band instruments when the kids were younger (trumpet and violin) to buying new instruments (violin, ukulele and guitar) as their love of music evolved, Heid has always been there with a smile and amazing customer service. Im not a musician so their advice and expertise is much appreciated. Our son has taken violin, piano and guitar lessons at Heid and all his instructors have been fantastic. This year he participated in Rock Camp and had the time of his life while helping him grow as a musician and a person. Having driven to Appleton, WI from north of Menominee, Michigan, I arrived with my cello and bow when the Heid Music store when it opened at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 12th. As I approached the entrance I was heartened to see the string specialist through the window, at work on anothers cello.I had come for a new set of strings; to have a wolf tone issue eliminated; and to have my bow rehaired and a sharp edge on the frog addressed.Both the customer service clerk, Tom, and the string specialist, Kara, were very generous with their time, answering all my questions.Regarding my bow, Kara determined there was an inherent flaw in the bow at the frog which had persisted in giving me problems, causing me to pad that point with a bandage to protect my thumb. I chose not to have that bow re-haired, but was able to select another bow for not much more than the rehairing would have cost.When Kara learned that I had driven quite a distance, and with the bow issue squared away, rather than putting my cello on her schedule to be completed by the end of the week, she offered to install the new strings and reset the sound post, and further seek to eliminate the wolf tone as same-day-service. How great not to have to make the trip again in a few days! Thanks Kara.With their expert input I am completely satisfied with having chosen a set of Larsen Aurora strings. Kara installed the strings, reset the sound post and listened as I played it a bit to be sure the wolf tone was no longer an issue. Immediately the sound was noticeably better.I enjoyed the opportunity to learn what Kara had done with the sound post and what else could have been done if needed to eliminate the wolf tone. She also indulged me and gladly showed me the tools used.This morning I found playing my cello at home so much more enjoyable due to the improved tone. It was gratifying to hear that my husband noticed the improved tone as well. Hes so happy to have me playing my cello regularly.Soon to be 70 years of age, I play cello at Mass at my church and get great pleasure from doing so. Reviewing advanced cello method books provided me as a senior in high school still challenges me and allows me to improve my skill.I would encourage anyone who still has their instruments to pick them up again and have some fun. Buy a new music book with a music CD and play along. Its good for the soul and keeps your mind sharp too.

Tyler and Kevin in the Guitar shop are awesome dudes! Both are very helpful and very patient to work with. They know a lot and I know a little so I go in there full of questions and they are always willing to help and they NEVER treat you like a fool for asking too many questions!Brought a used guitar in today that I bought for super cheap...after picking Tylers brain and asking for some tips on how to set the guitar up properly (floyd rose guitar)... I went home and tackled it myself perfectly without any issues! Some might say he could have made a sale instead of going out of his way to offer me great advices but that completely un-true!! What he did is he helped me and earned even more of my respect and trust. Now I will go there for ALL of my electric guitar related purchases! He might have talked himself out of a possible $50 guitar setup fee but Ill be in there spending 5x that...HUNDREDS of dollars if not more in the next several months/years...He’s already assisted me and educated me on my first pedal board build setup which is now worth hundreds of dollars..Great job to the guys over at Heid’s Music/“The Big Noise”!Offering service that places like Guitar Center just can’t even dream of matching!10/10 recommend

The customer service when making a purchase & renting went great! The staff at Heid was wonderful. Unfortunately, we were not impressed with violin teacher Linda Miller. She spent more time chit chatting instead of helping my 3.5 year old daughter learn about & how to play violin. In my personal Suzuki experience (I graduated from the Suzuki piano program), I was far from impressed with her method of teaching. Initially, she messed up our time slot & put us on a different day without asking. She charged us for an extra session in December (31st) and did not have class. We were considering moving her to a better program in Oshkosh and let her know our concerns. I received a phone call telling me our last two lessons of the month will be reimbursed so she can get another student in my daughters slot. Seriously?! She cannot even finish out her lessons & we have to pay Heid for the monthly rental. I feel at Lindas point in her career she is more about making the money and less about teaching the student. I feel it is very unprofessional to end a young students classes that were paid for in advance...what does that teach this small child about a teachers commitment? Instead, it shows her filling the slot is more important than finishing what was started.

I went to the Heid music store in Appleton. Before heading there I called to make sure they had a Canyon reverb/delay pedal that I wanted. There website showed $121.99 and the man I spoke with confirmed that amount plus mentioned a 10% discount that was going on that day. Once at the store I got talking with the owner who was nice, and paid no attention to what he was ringing up at the register. He charged me $151.99 for the pedal and with the 10% discount it came to $136.99. This may have been an honest mistake, but these mistakes always seem to favor the business. Anyways, this whole experience left me feeling as though I may have been taken advantage of. Buyer Be Ware... is how the old saying goes.

Did not repair horn that I play

I went for cello lesson @ 4pm. The teacher was nice. The instrument counter did not have my cello. maybe in 2 days they said. Smart!

My family has bought or rented pretty much every instrument weve ever rented or owned from here. Though theres not much competition for orchestral instruments in the area, Ill still say that they have fair prices. The place most likely thrives off of students who play in the school bands or orchestras, but this location deserves it. The staff is friendly, and theyll greet you when you come through the door and then theyll just leave you to browse until they hear that youre looking for something, in which case theyll help you find the right instrument or equipment that youre looking for.This is also the only music shop where Ive been able to find a decent songbook for my electric bass! It was an anthology of songs by The Who, and finding music for electric bass of that quality is almost harder than finding a needle in a haystack in this area! Ive yet to see Guitar Center put something out in print like that in their nearest location to me.

I have gone to this specific store for many years for sheet music for band camp and choir camps and their customer service is just amazing. I couldnt decide which book I wanted one year and one of their employees sat and helped me pick out a book even and even gave me some pointers on how to use my flute. Around two years ago I was starting to look for a new flute. They set up an appointment with me and my mom and they helped me pick out my miyazawa and I couldnt be happier. I will keep going to Heid whenever I need anything fixed with any of my instruments or simply need a piece of sheet music. They are incredible !

I went to Heid in Appleton on a weekday. I was playing guitar at room volume, jamming with a friend. I was interested in the guitar was playing and I had been playing it for about 15 minutes and one of the staff came over and turned the volume of my amp way down. He wasnt very polite about it either, didnt offer any help or ask any questions. Shortly after this happened I left. I understand I dont look very old but that doesnt mean I cant be serious about buying a product. If thats how Heid treats potential customers when trying a product out, They are not worth giving any business. I also needed strings and cables but decided to go somewhere else to purchase them. Bad customer service experience.
