If I could leave 0 stars I would. This business is a scam. About 9 months ago I purchased a truck for about $7500 including a trade in SUV. Within this range I have had the truck in the shop 3 separate times for a total cost of about $800. 3 months ago the transmission went out. I was quoted $3500 to have this fixed. I have not been able to drive the truck more than 4 months and have put on far less than 500 miles. I contacted Dependable Auto and talked with Steve. I was told that I had made a mistake and the mechanics that had quoted me $3500 were up-pricing. He stated that he would call me back after looking into his mechanic within a week and he never called. I called multiple times finally getting him when he answered the phone. He then stated he would call me back after looking into it. He called a few days later and stated that I could get it fixed for half the labor cost at his mechanic. When I contacted the mechanic I was told this was false and that it would in fact cost more than I was quoted at my mechanic. I was told that this was the risk I took buying a used vehicle even though it was checked over by a certified mechanic at Dependable Auto. $7500 + $800 + less than 500 city miles = no vehicle to drive or even trade in ethically. I cannot drop in another $3500 and am without a vehicle to drive. I was told that this would be the beginning of the work needed in the next few years. I would strongly recommend staying away from Dependable Auto as they do not stand behind their vehicles and sell vehicles as if they are in proper mechanical condition when they are not.

We had a very good experience when we arrived! My husband found a Honda Odyssey with a really nice price and we ended up going to check it out on a whim. We first met with the detailer, who showed us and let us test drive the van. He was up front about one minor door issue, which we appreciated. When we met the owner, he showed us the same courtesy and even went on further into detail. I loved the van and we walked away with it that same day! Both people we met with were very friendly and informative. My husband plans to buy his next vehicle from them now as well. Im still loving my new van! Thanks for the great experience!

I had an excellent experience with the staff (Steve & Dan) with the recent car that I just purchased. They were extremely helpful, willing to work with me, and did everything they could to make me comfortable. They did not pester me at all and let me make my own decision on the car I wanted to purchase. They were open and honest about all the questions I asked and willing to show me all prior documentation/history about the vehicle. I financed the car and the process was extremely smooth. They made it happen very quickly and efficiently. I would definitely recommend them! Thanks Steve and Dan! I really appreciate it.

Bought my 2003 Grand Am GT from them recently. Looked for over a month and found exactly what I wanted. They were $1000-$1500 less than some of the dealers I looked at! Rhonda, who did my paperwork, and Shawn, my salesman were very nice to work with. It was a very fun, low-pressure atmosphere which usually isnt the case at most dealers. Id definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a nice, low priced vehicle. I LOVE MY CAR!!

We searched for a couple of weeks, in no hurry to buy until we found the right car for my teenage son, which we finally did at Dependable Auto Sales in Appleton. I was impressed by the fact that they use the auto service shops in their area to inspect and service the vehicles they sell. We were happy to find a nice Honda Accord at the best price we had seen. My son loves the car and my wife and I are confident that hes in a safe reliable vehicle.

I had an excellent experience purchasing a car for my son. I found the car online, went to check it out, and found that it was exactly as described. It was a 100% no-pressure experience. I test drove it and decided to purchase it, but noticed that the rear windshield wiper was not working. They had it repaired immediately. They helped me find financing that was WAY lower than what my bank was offering. My son loves the car and it was a very easy, pleasant experience. They were indeed dependable.

We recently bought a 06 Ford Free Star on 8-26-15 from Dependable Auto Sales, the van runs and drives great there was only one issue with the Alternator, I called them and talked to Steve and they got on it right away and are getting it fixed with NO PROBLEMS what so ever. It was one of those things where no one knew it would happen until it did. So all in all it was a great experience and would recommend them to any one...

Run away... don’t walk! I wish there was a negative star option. We had a very similar experience as the other 1 star reviewers. We filed a complaint with the state. We had several vivacious and threatening phone contacts with the salesman. Unfortunately we discovered after the fact that the whole buying experience and condition of the vehicle was filled with shady lies. Professional dealership mechanic revealed at the first oil change that the car could never have been inspected due to very basic findings and then additional repairs that cost more than the purchase of the vehicle. I guarantee any response to this review will be riddled with blaming the buyer and absolutely no responsibility acknowledged by the seller. Honestly, I wish the salesperson did not have our information from the sale as I have concerns of retribution which is why I did not write a review sooner.

My parents and I had bought a car from Steve at Dependable Auto in the past. Recently we bought another car from him too. We have not been disappointed with either of the vehicles. They are clean and are reasonably priced. Steve makes sure that the cars he puts on the lot are in top condition (cleaned, inspected by a mechanic) before selling them to potential customers. After the initial cleaning, there was a very small, almost unnoticeable spot on the back seat of the Nissan we just bought, and he made sure it was cleaned before he let us drive away with it (we were content with it, but he insisted). He also was able to track down an additional set of keys for us versus us having to go online and paying for them out of our own pocket. We are happy to recommend Steve at Dependable Auto for anyone looking for a used vehicle in good condition and excellent customer service.

Unfortunately my daughter was starting college a few days after buying a car here and was in a rush. She found it online and purchased it within an hour. Shes only 18 and this is the first time purchasing a vehicle on her own so she paid full price. I really wish we wouldve taken more time to look into it and read reviews. From the night we got it home, she has been having trouble getting it to start on the first try. It usually takes 2-3 times before itll start. She brought it back to let them know this has been happening and of course this was one of the few times it started right up. The lady suggested she get the battery checked. That is something I would think they wouldve looked at before putting the car on the lot. Maybe Im wrong. All I know is we would never purchase a vehicle from here again or recommend them to anyone.

If I could give them 0 stars i would. Dependable Auto Sales is the most unprofessional buisness I have ever dealt with. They sold me an UNSAFE(not..dependable??) Jeep liberty. Everything on the buyers guide sheet was a lie and it should have never left the lot(NO ABS, and torn seatbelts the list goes on for miles) and they refused to work with me on anything(besides ill have my mechanic look at it and of course its perfect. SO they refused to fix anything that was wrong.) Long story short after contacting the state- they had the choice to buy it back(OR fix everything that was wrong with it. They bought it back), and after a YEAR- they called, texted and threatened me on all forms of my social media(demanding a title that THEY had lost). I would never recommend them to my worst enemy. Do NOT waste your time or money on these people.

Wasted time. Drove 41 miles to check out an advertised vehicle. Git there at 4:45. The sign on the door stated open till 7. The open light in the window and on the sign was turned on. We parked and walked to check out the vehicle from the ad. A person came out of the building, walked over to a vehicle that had the hood raised . Did something to the vehicle and disappeared. We went up to the building to get someones attention. The door was locked . Wasted time. Must have been a sign.

I recently purchased a 2005 Jeep Liberty LTD from Steve at Dependable Auto Sales. The vehicle was super CLEAN and I am enjoying it a great deal! Its a great ride... Though buying a used car can be a hassle (I was dreading it), but I had no choice in replacing my old car.The day after I bought the vehicle I realized that the 6 CD cd player was not working. I took it back to Steve at Dependable, and he offered to replace the broken cd player free of charge. Unfortunately the first replacement cd player he ordered and installed for me didnt work so he ordered a second, installed it for me and that one is working fine. I am now enjoying listening to cds in my Jeep, thanks to Steve!! Most used car dealers would have just said, Im sorry, but the car was purchased as is and theres nothing we can do for you. This was definitely not the case with Steve at Dependable Auto Sales. He went above and beyond the call of duty in helping me to replace my cd player. I would recommend Dependable to anyone looking for a great deal on a used car. I was definitely impressed with Steves honesty and stellar service! I am a happy customer!!

If I could give this place negative stars I would. Asked the sales person about the car fax, was assured it was clean and accident free. Bought the vehicle without actually making them give me the report (my mistake). Turns out it had been in an accident. Not only that, but the car, which was fairly new but higher mileage, was known for engine problems that were actually recalled. When I purchased the vehicle it was just outside of the recall mileage. I made some mistakes buying here, but this place straight out lied to me about the vehicles history.Update in reply to the companys response:Your sales person told me the car fax was clean. I purchased the vehicle at the end of December 2015. I am certain it was from this dealership, so I will not take down my review. Ive no idea what records you do or do not keep, so your claim that Ive never purchased from you is bull. The engine issue was a service bulletin and, while it may not necessarily be your responsibility to communicate that information to me, it was a substantial enough problem that the manufacturer extended the warranty on the engine to cover the known issue. I find it difficult to believe that you werent aware of the problem. When I had the actual Carfax pulled, in order to trade in the car and get out of it before it was a worthless pile of junk, I was informed the vehicle had been in an accident. A thing I SPECIFICALLY asked about and was told the vehicles history was clean.

The Nissan Rogue that we were very interested in had just sold, but we didnt know that when we went here to look at it. The owner (Rhonda) said that they had just received a Nissan Murano back from the mechanic that had inspected it, about 1 hour before we got there. She said that she could quickly fill out a form, in order to make it legal for us to drive the vehicle. The dashboard sign that said it wasnt inspected for sale, hadnt been removed yet, due to the mechanic just finishing the vehicle an hour before. Rhonda immediately completed the form to put on the dashboard, so that we could test drive it. We actually ended up liking the Murano more than the Rogues we had driven, because they are a bit larger than the Rogues are, and have more interior room for seating space. Rhonda was very fun to work with and really went out of her way to accommodate us. We purchased the Murano, and she even got us a lower interest rate than our credit union, which we thought was already low. So far, we are very happy with the vehicle, and we will definitely be back here to look for a vehicle when our daughter gets her license next year.

DO NOT under any circumstance purchase a vehicle from these guys. I made the mistake of purchasing a 99 Toyota Camry from them. They say they have a couple of mechanics they use to look over the car to make sure it is mechanically sound. They will NOT allow you to take a car to a mechanic of your choice to be examined. Two weeks after I purchased the car for $3900, I found that not only had the oil not been changed like they stated, the air filter was filthy, it was leaking oil all over, the water pump was bad, the belts were bad, and the radiator fan was not operating causing the car to overheat at idle speeds. This cost me $1,000 is repairs that they would not stand by. They threw every excuse they could at me.

These guys are cons. Never buy a car here... First car overheated on test drive, looked at a few others on the lot and showed interest in a different one, but said if only buy it the fixed some minor flaws, being bad front tires and shroud protecting undercarriage was hanging off... Owner got cocky with me saying i dont know what youre expecting in a $5,000 car. So I left, but forgot to go back in and grab my ID they still had on their printer. I come back and they claim not to have it. I said I know I left it here, this is ridiculous. The owner replied yeah yeah.. And Ill make sure so and so financial will never work with you again. He seemed so nice when I was about to buy his lemon, but not did his time change when I pointed out the problems keeping me from buying it....Since posting this I have received 3 menacing phone calls from the owner using abusive language, and threatening to use my personal information he a acquired from my loan application to destroy my credit and make sure nobody gives me a loan again, then stalked my Facebook and threatened to harass my friends and employer... The police have been notifiedAnyone believing his retort please look for yourself the bmw and passat on his lot

I waited a while to write this view, mostly because I wasnt sure if I wanted to. I am in customer service so I understand that people have bad days and things happen, but I also wanted to share my experience. This happened this past summer, I think it was July, but I dont know for sure.I was looking for a car for my mom. She doesnt live in Appleton, but she trusted me and at the time I worked at a repair facility, and she trusted we would find her something reliable. Even though she doesnt live here, she isnt that far and would drive to test drive or pick up the vehicle if I found one.I had heard really good things about Dependable and thought I would give them a try. I looked at the reviews online and saw that from the reviews, it looked like they didnt normally let you take your vehicle to a shop of your choice for inspection. Since I worked at a shop and would prefer to have them inspect it, I called and spoke to someone. Unfortunately I dont have his name, but he was very nice. He said that normally they didnt let others inspect the vehicles, but if I came in on a certain day, he would let his co-worker know that I was coming and that it was okay for me to take the vehicle elsewhere. (He knew he wouldnt be there that day but assured me I was in good hands.)I arrived at Dependable and walked in to see a salesman. I explained to him the situation and how I had talked to someone yesterday, and as soon as I started to say that I had the OK to take it to my shop, he cut me off and said yeah, we dont do that here. I tried to explain to him what I was told, and he went in to talk to his manager to see what he could do.He came back out and again told me it was not possible. After going back and forth for a while, and after a couple trips to talk to his bosses, I was starting to get fed up, but tried to remain calm. At that point, he said so do you want to take it to your shop just so you can find things that arent wrong with the car, but lie and say it needs work? Excuse me? I was insulted and actually speechless. I replied with Well I want it to be in as good of shape as you do, because Im interested in the car. After one more meeting with his manager, he came back and asked me, If the car is in good shape, will you recommend this for the buyer? Um, obviously. Im here because I want to find a car! The last thing he said was Well at this point I cant even let you test drive it, I would have to have your signature saying that you agree to buy the vehicle before I can let you test drive or look at it. What? Since when do you have to sign something before you can test drive a car? I asked him, So would I have been better off not telling you that the car wasnt for me? Should I have lied and said I was looking for a vehicle? He sort of chuckled and said, Yeah probably. This could have been just one bad experience, and it may not happen to anyone else, but I felt like I had to vent in some way and at least make it known what happened. It is a shame because I was very interested in the car, and if it checked out, I most likely would have bought it.

I should have heeded the warning given by Jason Schreiber To start, let me quote this direct from their website:All vehicles are hand-picked and have a clean Autocheck (Carfax) report. Inspections and repairs are done at local ASE certified repair facilities which means you dont have to buy a vehicle and wonder whats wrong with it or if it was even inspected and repaired!! We are very selective about what we buy to ensure you are getting the best chance to own a great vehicle. My first indication that the above statement might be inaccurate was that we discovered an issue with the car during the test drive. We liked the car, but there was a noticeable wabble. That should have been the red flag we needed to leave and never come back. But our previous car had died and we were kind of in a bind, so a lapse in judgement on our part. The salesman said he would have it fixed for us, which they did, so we purchased it anyway. The car came with very little gas, so we filled it the next day and immediately a warning light came on. We purchased a new gas cap in hopes it was just not on tight enough, after having tried a premium fuel to see if that would help. The light remained on. Eventually we had to take it to the mechanic to find that the thoroughly inspected car that they would drive themselves had a Catalytic Converter that was shot and had to be replaced. $983 repair. So for those keeping score at home, thats 2 major repairs right off the lot, one of which we had to pay for out of pocket.Oh, but thats not all boys and girls! In the process of inspecting the car, OUR mechanic discovered that the bank 2 Catalytic converter in the 2007 Ford Taurus had been illegally removed (presumably by the previous owner) and a piece of pipe welded in its place. We were told by our mechanic that this should have been glaringly obvious to anyone inspecting the car, but this was never disclosed to us. Obviously we would not have purchased the car having known about that! When we questioned it, the salesman said that THEIR mechanic would not have informed them of that as long as it had a catalytic converter on it. Does that sound right to you? Also, the Wisconsin Buyers guide sticker indicated the Exhaust system (and everything else) was legal, even though an illegal alternation had been made.Jasons review is spot on. Lots of problems with the car, followed by lots of excuses. If in an act of monumental poor judgement you shop here for a car, bring a mechanic with you and insist on allowing them to inspect the car and for the love of god buy the warranty. But please go somewhere else. A stranger on Craigslist would be more reliable.

I just purchased a 2002 VW Jetta for my son from Shawn the salesman. We had been looking for a VW for about a month with a manual transmission and moonroof and wanted to stay under $5000. I was surprised to see they had about five different VWs to choose from all in the $3000 to $6000 range which was exactly what we were looking for. They had a black manual Jetta with lower miles which was even his favorite color choice for only $3500. I was initially worried when I saw it online that something might be wrong because it was priced so low, but when I got there I could see they had a lot of nice vehicles with low prices and it was normal for them to charge less than the other dealers we looked at. My son and I are very thankful we found this place and they were very easy to deal with and did not pressure us at all. While we were there another customer came in and was there to buy his fourth straight car from them for their family which put me at ease and made me feel more comfortable dealing with a car dealer. I chatted with this customer for a few minutes and could tell how happy he was with his first three cars. We will be back when my daughter turns 16 in two years!
