Whilst in the store today they were playing a song saying I love Satan and I want to marry him. There is not one cross anywhere in the store but theres a pentagram on one of the mannequins. They are no longer getting my business.

Today was my first day at this location and will most likely be my last unless there is a change. It is 95 degrees outside today 6/19, when I walked in that store it was 84 degrees. I thought maybe the AC was broken or something was wrong because there was no air movement for the 45 minutes I was in the store. I had planned on staying awhile and shopping, but physically could not, I was sweating so bad, and started feeling like I was going to pass out. When I went to check out the employee was very kind, they had a mask on, and was also very visibly hot. I had mentioned the issue to them, and they acted relieved that I even said anything. They then proceed to quietly tell me that the manager (who was not even present in the store) does not allow the temperature to go any lower. I was pretty surprised due to the wide range of temperatures North Carolina experiences. I then was concerned about their breathing being restricted for hours on end in a place that hot. They then tell me that the manager will get mad if they take to many mask breaks...aka if they take a break to breathe fresh air. If you are having your employees masked, it would be safe to assume that management cares about their health right? or maybe this is Rules for thee, not for me mentality that people in charge tend to follow. Not only are you putting your employees health at risk, but you are also losing business, due to the fact customers can not shop there for very long. I am not writing this review for me, I am writing this for those employees that are being exposed to abusive management. Who is forcing them to work in an uncomfortable work environment, while they arent even there having to deal with it themselves. The employee mentioned that maybe if a customer complains management will lower the temperature. They had wanted me to write a review and complain. If there is not a change I will go further with this complaint, such as news outlets, BBB, ect. I will not have the knowledge of knowing young employees, trying to make a living during tough times, are being treated this way and not do something about it.

Not a big fan of the business model here, but the customer service has been great for the most part. Ive always enjoyed talking to the employees here (except for one that was really rude).Im disappointed in how little compensation they give for the clothes that you sell. Ive sold some really nice brands of clothing that dont fit me anymore and got very little in return.Platos closet is definitely my #1 choice for selling used clothes. They give way more cash in return and accept a broader variety of brands and types of apparel. Unfortunately theres only one platos in Cary and Uptown is way closer to me.

So I went today to sell some of my clothes Lil did I know I was missing some of my jeans that were not given back nor give me the money for it. I think its sad that the ladies are keeping clothing and are not paying for it. honesty If you dont want the clothes then return them the same exact same way they were given. i thought I was the only one noticing that, but I guess theres other people noticing the same thing. Honestly I didnt go back to say anything because I know for a fact that they will act like YOU DONT KNOW WHAT UR TALKING ABOUT OR DENY IT! so moral of the the story if you dont want the item, We DO NOTICE and we know what we take.

I have been here a lot and they are great. They have a great selection of clothes and have great service.

The business owner of this location has put requirements that pushes customers away.The staff is not empowered to make any decisions.I have supported this store for over 3 plus years and lately every time I go in it shows lack of customer service.The latest which it does not make sense are:1. Rewards are fully managed by them and the customer has no ability to access via applications. This has caused for me not to get rewards that I was supposed to get since I cannot access via application to confirm. They have your personal data but the personal data is not access to the customer. Definitely a business and data privacy concerns here.2. If you purchase clearance items you cannot try then nor return it for exchange. This policy does not make any sense and never came across until now in this place...even the 5 employees that were working there agreed with me. I hope this business owner wakes up and try to be more customer focus since we are here to support you.3. If you do not empower your employees then why are you in business? There were a total of 5 employees when I last went to the store lately and the only answers they were able to provide to the customers questions were ‘ I am sorry, we are not authorized nor empowered to answer any of your questions since the owner is not here’. I was totally surprised and very disappointed on how they handled every customers situation including me in a very kind and rude way.Perhaps you need to get some help to re-evaluate your business model approach you have today with your customers since the one you are embracing currently is not ideal and is pushing customers away.

I feel like a lot of these negative reviews are from people who don’t understand that their old clothing is only worth what others are willing to pay for it. Most of the things in your closet begin to depreciate in value the moment you take them out of the store. I almost exclusively shop secondhand but have a difficult time at most stores because the quality is frequently questionable and the search for a gem can be so exhausting.I don’t find that to be the case at all here! Things are well organized and shopping is a pleasant experience. I moved to another city a couple years ago but still come here to shop for new (to me) pieces when I’m in town because it’s the best place I’ve found for secondhand clothing, both locally and in the city I live now.

I love the clothes here even though they’re a bit pricey to be a secondhand store, but the reason why I would never shop here again is because of the staff. The customer service is horrible! No one greets you when you walk in the door or offers to help, they rather just stare at you in disgust and then continue whatever conversations they were having before you walked through the door! I’ve also called to ask about the new policies due to covid and the lady/man (I couldn’t tell) that answered talked to me as if I were the biggest pain in the a$$ and all I asked about was the return policy 🙄

In a recent trip to Raleigh I forgot to back my golf shirts. I needed to buy some quick and it was recommended to me to visit Uptown Cheapstake. Im never been interested in second hand stores but I gave it shot anyway and came away very pleased. The staff welcomed me but didt hover over me (like some stores). I found some awesome golf shirts (PGA, The Shark, Nike) at great prices. All very clean and in good shape. This place changed my opinion on this type of store.

Yes the clothes may be cute, don’t let that fool you. The customer service here is horrendous. They all act like being there is a chore, and they hate there lives. And even one single question will send them over the edge. Also I feel as if they gyp you money. I brought in 2 full baskets of clothes and was paid only 20$. Point being they are RUDE AF!!!

Took my fiance to this location today to drop off some of her never worn clothes with tags still on them. Walked up to the counter where they said it would be a 30 minute wait which was fine. However, two hours had passed and they stated they forgot we were in the store. Staff opened the bag and picked up a handful of clothes then threw everything back in it and stated they didnt want anything. Will never be returning to the store due to the attitude of the staff and the lack of professionalism.

Do not be fooled by the disproportionate amount of negative reviews. this store is home to some of the cutest clothes you can find, whether it be at the mall or on your favorite stores website, you will be sure to find it here.

Not disability friendly. We asked them if they could turn down the loud music to accommodate someone with a hearing impairment (medical issue). They refused, rudely, stating it was unfair to everyone else. Their policy is that they need their music to be above a certain volume. What???? Cant even adjust it temporarily! Shopping elsewhere from now on.

When I walked in with my things to sell, I was not acknowledged for a good couple of minutes. I was ready to turn around and leave when a guy finally said have you sold with us before? without even looking at me. I brought over 100 lbs worth of clothes and shoes, some of them being brand new/never worn, and they took nothing.

Since they moved locations, I decided to give them another try in terms of selling. I bought in a bag of clothes (Old Navy, Fossil, Arizona Co.) and they took NOTHING. I guess since they moved and are trying to rebrand themselves, they’re being super picky in what they accept. I walked around and saw sandals that had no name on them, knock-off Yeezys. This place is trash. Won’t ever return to buy or sell. Go to Plato’s.

My son 17 year old loves to find great clothes at this place. Top brands at affordable prices. Staff is friendly and easy to sell stuff to them. Plus an option to get cash or store credit with 25% more.Our go to place.

This is a tip for everyone who sells their clothes here: After they pick out the stuff they want to buy from you, make sure to ask to see what they picked, and then go through your own. After I left, I noticed 3 items that I was missing and that I didnt remember seeing in the bin of bought clothes. I went back in 5 minutes later and spoke to the person who just bought my clothes and she had no idea who I was. So I asked to see the bin again and told her my issue. My three items were not in the bin of the rest of the clothes they bought from me. Sure enough those 3 missing items were in a different bin that was stacked by 3 other bins.

I enjoy shopping there inventory is great and in great shape you would never know it was a used item, prices are great. Check it out you wont be disappointed. Staff was wonderful and very friendly

Haven’t purchased anything but for consigning your clothes you’re much better off going somewhere else or selling online/yard sale. Donating for tax deduction is even a better deal. Also, the staff weren’t friendly.

I’ve been here a couple times and the selection is good although sometimes the prices can be a little high. One thing I have noticed is the staff seem to be a little rude I thought it was just me until I realized other people had also had the same experience.

Nice store, but they are way too picky on what they buy. I brought in up-to-date modern merchandise as seen in the store. They took less than 5% of what I brought in. Not worth the trouble to sell here.

Selling: I’ve sold clothing here a few times. Just expect them to be jerks to you, and you won’t be disappointed. I’d say I received friendly service maybe once, and several times was either outright ignored, or glared at for having the audacity to drop off clothes. Whether they buy your clothing depends almost entirely on who helps you. Sometimes they take 90% of my stuff, sometimes nothing. Buying: Sometimes I’ve found some cute stuff here, and it’s cheap-ish, so two stars I guess.

I personally really like shopping here, the staff has always been pretty nice and everything’s (in my opinion) a really good price.

Wouldn’t recommend selling here if you’re trying to make a nice profit. I brought in a plastic bin of clothes (Old Navy, Target, American Eagle, Adidas) and they took 5 items and offered me $8. As far as selling goes, they’re worse than Plato’s Closet. Try selling your stuff on Depop/Poshmark if you want a fair price.

The manager at this location was very rude. I brought baskets of items, some with tags and some without. Some of these items I have only worn once. Out of all my items they chose about 10 things for $20, including and old bag that I used as a gym bag before...all because it said Victorias Secret on it. They said they couldnt accept some of my clothing because of odor. Odor? I was tempted to ask them if they had a vacuum sealed room where they smelled every item due to the fact the whole store smells like old shoes. I could tell by the managers disposition that she was not the most kind and understanding person and she also just bought an old gym bag after telling me my one time worn and freshly washed clothing had odor. So instead of telling her Im fresher than a spring breeze, I walked out of the store and I will never sell my name brand and once worn clothes there again. One was a freaking evening gown I wore for 4 hours! God bless.

This place is the shiz! They have super cute name brand boots and jackets for under $15. You have to check this place out!

I will never be returning back here to sell my clothes to them, all the employees were so rude and I brought super nice clothes and a few lily pulitzer skirts the only thing that they took were the three lily skirts I brought and I only got $20. Every time I go into that store I go to sell 2-4 full bags full of clothes and half the time they don’t take anything because it doesn’t match the style, sorry I don’t own camo boots and ugly shirts, or they don’t give you the money you deserve for the clothes. One of the worst places to go to.

Girls were nice. But they arent very skilled on picking out merchandise to buy. I was told my stuff had too much wear when in reality there were several name brand pieces that still had the price tag on them! Unfortunately I find platos is a better place to sell your stuff!

Tons of great items to select from, but staff is only there if you ask them a direct question. They are willing to price down for damaged goods however.

Not worth trying to sell there. They rarely take any of your stuff even if it’s current and in great shape. I brought in a brand new pair of women’s booties, which they offered to buy....for $3. Yeah right. Their merchandise isn’t that great either. I’ve seen them selling a lot of things that have stains on them. There are better places to shop!

I like that the items here are cheap and they tend to buy at least one thing when you bring them in. They give you less than platos though. However, the staff always seems annoyed when you bring in your stuff like its a burden on them for you to shop and try to sell clothes. They also quote you a time of 20 to 30 minutes and you usually wait over an hour. Good, cheap selection but wish the staff was friendlier.

I had a brand new pair of Addias my mom bought. She only wore them once and they were still perfectly white they offer to pay me 10$. So I took them to Platos and got 30 for my shoe. Rip off

I don’t like that every visit the rules changes about having to stay in the store while waiting for the sorting process to be done. Their is no waiting area so you’re forced to shop

Found the staff at this location to be pretty rude and unwelcoming. Each time I have come here in the past few years they all act like theyre doing you a favor by being there. They have a good selection, but the negative vibes in there arent worth it for me.

Came in before 6pm yesterday to sell items. Girl told me they were backed up and couldn’t process my items-although I was there well before 6pm. She told me to come back today. I came back at 7:09pm, she told me to come back today and she still wouldn’t help me. Never go there.

An employee walked in on me when I was changing, and i clearly had the curtain closed and she didnt even check, and everyone else working there was un professional and rude.

I dont recommend shopping at this used clothing and shoe store. Their prices are a bit high but unfortunately the reason for why I am only giving it 2 stars is because they dont seem to care about the cleanliness of the garments they choose to sell. I know they cant know for sure if the clothing they sell has been washed but the ones I saw were obviously dirty. Some of the tops had visible dark stains in the arm pit area, others had ring around the collar and some were dusty. It gave me such a bad impression that it turned my stomach. Dont be fooled, when you first walk in the store looks ok, for the most part everything is organized by size & color but a lot of the items look very worn out and dirty!! 👎🏻

Good deals on slightly used clothing. Arranged so that sizes and colors are easy to find.

Okay for buying but awful for taking clothes to. I brought in over 50 items and they only took maybe 5. Not very skilled at all in deciding what merchandise to purchase. Ive seen things being sold with rips and stains but wont take my nearly brand new items. Will be taking my clothes elsewhere from now on. Customer service is not the best, either, but some are more friendlier than others.

Every time I go in there to drop clothes off every employee ignores me until I flag them down to get their attention (consistently). Once I have their attention they act like I am the biggest burden on the worst day ever. I dont understand how so many different employees can all act like they hate their jobs so much. Hoping another consignment shop opens up in Apex so I can stop coming to this location!

The raleigh location is better. This location, yes they had a great staff, but I brought in a large amount of great clothing, earrings, silver high heels and dresses that have never been worn before. But because the employees were ready to go they sent me on my way and said that they would donate 100 dollars worth of clothes. Bc it wasnt what they were looking for, obviously non of them have any sense of style. I understand that not all my items are perfect and some would be coming back with me to donate on my terms, but not taking ANY of my items is a bit much. I was hoping for something so I could get groceries. Thank you for wasting my time and not helping me buy gas for my car or food..

The prices are very reasonable and quality is fairly good. I will say 2 winter tops that I looked at in the large section were stained. They both had large yellow stains in the middle of the tops. This is not my typical experience there but I would recommend looking out for stains, rips and other issues. Also, I agree with another reviewer about the music. It is inappropriate and loud. I have noticed that several times and plan to let them know that I dont appreciate it. My 15 yr old daughter complained about the music as well
