Booked a 9am appointment for a trailer hitch installation. At drop off was told would take two hours. Never got a phone call they were finished. Took a taxi back to store. Was told it’s a “first come first serve”. Waited in store an hour and was told they forgot to order my hitch and I need to reschedule. Really stinks cuz you pay online when the appointment is booked so I asked for a refund. STAY AWAY!!
We made a large move from NC to MI and had a storage space reserved. On the day we showed up, after 2 days of driving a large Uhaul truck and towing a trailer, and with movers meeting us in 1/2 an hour, this store told us our storage space was not available. Zero notice. Luckily, Public Storage down the road was able to accommodate us.
Steer clear of this location. Reserved a hitch installation a month in advance. Received no response to emails or calls. Came the day before and was told to bring it in the next morning and it would take 1.5-3 hours. Came back after 4 hours and car was still untouched. Now I move in 5 days and need to ship all of my things.
DO NOT GIVE THIS LOCATION YOUR BUSINESS. If I could give 0 stars, I would. A day before my reservation was set to begin, the location canceled my unit with no explanation. In fact, the email stated that I was the one who canceled (when I was not). The store did not answer my call, even after 3 attempts, and after speaking with the corporate line, I was still forced to find a different storage operator altogether. The corporate guy was kind and professional, but UHaul has no recourse for those whose reservations are unexpectedly canceled. The location essentially got away with screwing me over.
I waited in a huge line while there was no attendant for an hour and when I finally got to the front they told me they had my reservation but no storage unit for me??? The staff was completely unhelpful and told me the best they could do was suggest a place an hour away. I will not use Uhaul again.
Their staff is super. The service is great. The facility is very clean.
Uhaul is a fraudulent company, they make guarantees and never pay up (see 2017 class action lawsuit)
Im vastly dissapointed. First of all I made a reservation in advance, and after finding out some details I called back immediately to twerk the reservations upon showing up to pick up the truck(10ft) I reserved I found that the one we were assigned was the wrong size, I had reserved a 15ft, and we couldnt even use it since it had broken down. Secondly the pick up time for our reservation was incorrect. While I was on the phone with the reservation people I got annoyed since the lady I spoke with kept telling me the details without updating the information. I asked for the recording of the conversation because of outrageous this conversation went. Also our moving time had to be placed on hold. We were inconvenienced for FIVE hours of move time. Stressing, I ended up having to make many MANY trips in my Ford fiesta just to get things out of a storage locker facility that would close before the truck was even ready. Clearly upset, I called customer service. They still have not gotten back to me. I had to move everything from where Ive lived for 2 years in 7 hours. After all this they did not offer any way to make this inconvenience right.Update: when I try to write their review (Ive tried the pas 2 days) this comes up.
I reserved a 15ft truck recently, and the experience both in using the truck and reserving it online were great and smooth.My concern was the lack of safety precautions regarding COVID-19. Sure, 6 ft measurements were taped to the floor, but customers were in and out without masks (just a day before a mask fine was mandated) as well as the cashier was without a mask in the building. While there was a plexiglass shield, maybe 2 ft by 4 ft, thats just not how air works and not enough to make a difference in terms of safety for both them and the customers. This is not to discredit cashiers personality, they were very kind.This isnt political. I care about the safety of everyone and would expect the same in return. I did my best to make sure I wasnt in any position to spread anything to anyone else, and would expect the same from a place of business during a pandemic.In the past my experiences with U-Haul have been great, but this was truly a sad excuse for safety. I have been very precautionary since March, and if I do end up sick in the next week at least Ill know where it came from. I wouldnt have rented a truck if it werent necessary.

Wish the service would have been better. Keep in mind that moving sucks for everyone, so most that comes in there are looking for a bit of help.Good selection of products for packing.
Reserved a 10ft truck over a month ago. 3 days prior to our move we were informed that the location where we reserved the truck at no longer had a 10 ft truck...Then when we finally make it to their other location, we take the truck home and no dolly or moving blankets. What is a reservation even for?! Terrible, will never be doing business with u-haul again.
If you like poor service, look no further. I’ve seen more competence from a group of 7 year olds running a bake sale. I don’t know what happened to this company as a whole, but it seems to be going downhill. Must be corporate issue.
Being a physician and working at Henry Ford health system and dealing with the current pandemic to fight against COVID-19, the last thing I was looking to come across a guy at your Propane filling station “ROB”. I am not sure what exactly he was mad at but he literally thrashed my propane cylinder on the metal multiple times hard enough that I was sure it will either leak or break. I was coming off from my hospital call and was tired enough to get into any confrontation and I asked him very respectfully “If there is any thing I have done to offend him” and he rudely put my tank again hardly on the metal surface and start filling it without answering me. After filling the tank he asked me to pay either inside or outside and left.The staff inside was extremely courteous and helpful and provided me the manager contact. I filed a complaint to their manager Austin Brown and never received any reply back. Every one has equal rights to be treated respectfully, especially as a customer when I even did not know what I did to deserve that treatment. I have always used UHAUL services, but people like ROB needs to understand that if we as a physicians no matter what emotions or stresses we are dealing with inside, we always treat our patients equally with respect and dignity and expect the same treatment from any one else. I really hope and wish that someone makes him realize to change his attitude towards other customers.
Get ready to wait for 25mins per customer. When we finally get to the counter they say their system is down. They really could inform the people in line that so that they can find other options.
Don’t trust them! They gouged me for gas I didn’t use. Didn’t give an accurate reading of the fuel gauge when I got the vehicle. Unfortunately, I wasn’t the one driving it, so I didn’t check it before I left. It was a pretty expensive rental too. I’ll use a different company next time!
Whoever the girl with the blue hair is, shes one of the best employees they have. Seriously, she gave us stellar customer service when we were super stressed on our moving day. The customer service here was impeccable! Mandie and Veronica stayed late for me so that I was able to pick up a tow-dolly for my big move. These ladies were fabulous, they went above and beyond to make my rental more convenient. Absolutely outstanding employees!
Great service! I dealt with several employees including who I think was the owner, and they were all very willing to help, courteous and professional. They even gave me a slight extension for truck return due to a moving situation, which I felt was generous. I picked up a lot of supplies from this store as well, they are well stocked and have good prices.
Customer service does not exist at this location if you have a problem. The Managers response to each question I asked her was I dont know what to say. I mentioned to her that it was really frustrating as a customer with a problem for her to keep using that phrase. What would be more helpful would be that you will look into the problem and call me back. Just got a smerk with that comment, she did say she would call me back with the name of a person that they were dealing with within the company -- said she was not there and needed to get with the technician the next day. But she never called me back. DO NOT take a JEEP Liberty 2007 to them. This Jeep has specific wiring needs and they do not know how to do wiring on this vehicle. Cost me $200. to correct their mistake. If you can avoid this location -- you would be best to do so. They do not seem to have a (negative) star for indicating satisfaction.
This location is nice, staff are friendly and never been mistreated. It is kind of expensive but their rate are nationwide and comparable to their competitors, so no getting around that but over all have always had positive experiences at this location. Will continue to go to this location, also they sell propane, they will sell new tanks and also refill old ones, its much cheaper than exchanging one.
Very rude staff, from the clerk all the way up to the GM (Stephanie). When describing my frustrations with the clerk (Samantha) she said “that’s not my problem” and then proceeded to mess up everything from my drop off time to my email address which made checking the car in for return impossible since the email was wrong. When I called to file a complaint to the GM she was equally combative and then began explaining things already known instead of listening to why I was upset (the service, not the process) so I hung up since she wasn’t here to listen. Filed report with corporate only to then have the GM call me multiple times start of the morning where she offered no solutions and began to interrogate while offering 0 solutions. Absolutely awful leadership, staff, and facility. If you can go anywhere else (literally anywhere else) you’ll be better off. Handling the uhaul process was longer than my actual move, going on 5+ hours of calls, holds, and hostile staff members who apparently escalate everything instead of listening and resolving customer issues.
This location is awesome. I recently reserved a trailer, but the previous person had not brought it in by the time I was supposed to pick it up. To make things right, the U-Haul employee hooked me up with an even larger truck for about the same price. Boy, I tell ya what, thats good customer service right there.
I called twice, to install a Brake System in my truck, both time they told me they were about to call me back to give me the price. They never did. I though they were too busy to do it. I decided to go to the store. No one knew what type was the right for my truck. I was waiting to see if the guy who was checking the system were able to let me know. But he just left me unattended. They didnt care about my business. I just left with no complaints to try better luck in uhaul Ypsilanti.
Staff all the way up to the GM was very unprofessional an had no solutions to the problems they caused. If I could give them a zero I would. They made my move hell an I don’t wish that on anyone. So if I were you I’d choose literally anywhere else.
Great staff and fast service-Ivan, who works out in the yard, has always been really helpful and efficient and is great at his job. This location has good availability for trailers, but trucks can be hard to find depending on the day/week. Call ahead or reserve online!
Mandy provided excellent customer service, explaining my options and helping me decide what I needed. Milton was efficient and friendly when I turned in the equipment. I will use this U-Haul facility again.
TL;DR wiring installation was so poor my car failed the safety inspection.I had my wiring installed here about 6 months ago to move from Ann Arbor to Maryland for a job. I just failed my car safety inspection test here bc the mechanic that installed the wiring literally had zip tied two knots under the car. Literally the ENTIRE wiring was hanging under the car and was dragging while I was driving. I say get your installation done elsewhere if you can. Sure theres a service warranty for the repair but its such a hassle taking time off from your workday to wait ~2 hours for a repair that couldve been done right the first time.
Sam and Milton were super helpful with our reservation, pricing and information. Haven’t done our move yet so will update once we pick up the truck, but these guys seem way more organized and helpful than your average Uhaul location.
I got my truck only 1/4 of the tank, but was asked to fuel half of the tank when returning.
On Tuesday 6/27/17 I called U-haul to inquire about installing a trailer hitch on my 2012 Mazda 5.The customer service rep stated that they could install the hitch on Thursday 6/29 at 5:30 PM, but I would have to pay extra to rush order the part. I agreed to do so.Thursday 6/29 I received a voice mail at about 10:50 from Joe (the mechanic who installs the hitches). He stated that he does not work past 4:00 and that he could not install the hitch. He arbitrarily rescheduled me for 3:00 Monday, a time that is impossible for me to make.During my lunch break on Thursday I attempted to call U haul to reschedule, and clarify that I would not be paying for a rush order if it was not installed on Thursday. I was not able to get through to the the Ann Arbor branch. Several different customer service agents claimed that they would put me on hold to find help but in each case after being on hold for 10-15 minutes I wound up talking to a new customer service rep who I had to repeat my entire story too.After the fourth rep to do this I stated that I would refuse to pay unless somebody from the Ann Arbor branch called me back within 5 minutes. 15 minutes later Joe called me back and told me that he could install the hitch on Friday 6/30.Friday morning (6/30) I arrived at the Uhaul location, and they told me that I was scheduled for Monday and that my part had not arrived.After that colossal waste of time I will be taking my business elsewhere. I am a reasonable person, but I do not appreciate liars and time wasters, and it seems thats all they have on staff there.
DO NOT have a hitch or brake controller installed here. The tech left wires hanging under my vehicle, one broke off before I got home and was hanging. I also had a trans oil cooler installed so I checked the hose routing and found out that it was never connected, the hoses were tucked away by the radiator out of sight. I took the vehicle to Hitch House to have the work checked and they had to rewire the entire vehicle. They also found that he left out the hitch mounting blocks that prevent the hitch from pulling through the body rails and falling off. They told me it was a lawsuit waiting to happen. They had repaired 11 vehicles this year already that U Haul had worked on.
Long waits on the phone, inaccurate website (showed that I had no reservation when I know I did), confusing website. This company is out of control. Sounds like a CEO problem.
I had a hitch installed on my Subaru Foerster about 6 weeks ago. After the installation I noticed a rattling sound coming from the hitch and exhaust area of the car. I have called them at least 5 times and havent been able to be rescheduled for them to take care of the issue.
Renting a U-Haul from the State Street store was a great decision! Morgan was awesome writing the contract and checking me out at the counter, and Veronica was really courteous and fast checking in. I highly recommend this place!
My Identity was likely Compromised by UHaul:The manager took pictures of my Drivers License (front and back) with their personal cell phone and uploaded it somewhere without my permission. When I asked about how the data is secured, what the data retention plan is, what the privacy policy is; they refused to provide any information.Since they couldnt answer any questions about how the data is secured; and the pictures were taken with a Personal Cellphone (not a dedicated device) I can only assume my identity is compromised.Anyone with access to wherever the data is can use pictures of your license to open bank accounts or credit in your name, or otherwise impersonate you. This could be extremely damaging both financially and otherwise for everyone affected.

Decent location but you definitely need to book trucks if you want them for weekend or during a high demand period (start/end of academic calendar). You might have to wait even when youve reserved a truck.

We picked up a trailer here and Veronica Cirtina was great help to us!Our problem was when we went to drop the trailer off at 1717 N Glendale Blvd in Glendale, CA. I placed an order for the trailer on 8-3-17 with Janet at the toll-free number. She said that if we needed a storage facility that we could get the first month for free. On 8/8/17, I spoke to Rochelle and changed the date and secured a storage facility at the Glendale property.I then re-confirmed the trailer and storage facility on 8/9/17 with Yvonne.We got into LA early, so I called the toll-free number on 8/25/17 and spoke to Ashley. She said that we could drop trailer off and get into our storage room. When we got to the Glendale office, we were told that they did not have storage and had no room for the trailer. He sent us to the UHaul on Arapahoe and Hoover. Yolanda Martinez said they didnt have room and said that we would be closer to Glendale if we went to the Ivar Street, in Rosemead facility. We drove 2 hours in rush hour traffic to get there. It ended up being 30 miles from us. The only help that she gave us was to send us to Dori.Dori Liddell welcomed us and found us storage! She was unable to take the trailer, but called the Rosemead Blvd office and he took the trailer even though the didnt really have room. I cannot say enough good things about Dori! She was pleasant and helpful. It was the nicest UHaul facility. It even has 2 comfortable chairs and air conditioning.I think the employees at the toll-free number should be taught how to deal with the public. It took us 6 hours to drop our trailer and we are 30 miles from where we wanted to be, but so glad to have found Dori! This was a nightmare that should never have taken place. I verified my reservations 3 times! I dont believe I did anything wrong!
They know their stuff and have plenty of boxes. Truck rental and return is easy.
They installed a hitch and wiring for our Subaru Outback as promised and it worked fine for a little while. The powered convertor shorted out early on and our only option was to replace it at our cost, approx. $30. After doing a little research, we learned these convertors only allow approx. 4 amps to pass through, basically 2 rear tail lights, period. Side markers,etc. only add to the draw causing early failure. What a scam. Seems like we should have been warned, eh. Oh sure, theyll take the old one and diagnose it at the plant, determining that it did its job and youll never get any satisfaction. They were cordial, but unflinching. Buyer beware.

Total disappointment. I received my box with lot of damages to my belongings including 2 broken TVs. I have sent pictures to the insurance claim company Repwest and details but I was not compensated. I was not well informed about the insurance coverage in the store when I purchased the service and even though the delivered ubox was bent and my stuff damaged, no compensation was given. I ended with damaged furniture, no TV and I will leave my feedback on google to alert other customers to not be in my situation.

There customer service via phone sucks. Always the call center line switchover. They email me about a possible compromise on my storage unit and I cant get down there but yet moreover I can contact them to figure out whats going on. This is not the first time nor 2nd that I have had issues contine the store directly. It is that this most recent time seem to be an emergency.

Ive been going here for years to rent trailers and to buy propane and packing materials. Increasingly in the last year the service here has gotten worse and it wasnt great before. I get a contact high just from walking in the place. Go elsewhere if you can

Was there at 6.55 for refueling propane. There was no response to multiple buzzer pressing at the propane stations. At 7.07, I start to search for them and when I find one Uhaul employee, she tells me theat pump closes at 7 pm and that I was there after it closed. she suggested that I come the next day.
