I love that my coffee was made with whole milk and honey instead of artificial sweeteners. Atmosphere is cute and artsy. I had the honey vanilla latte and blueberry coffee cake. Definitely would recommend if you are in the Ann Arbor area. Later on in the day I also tried a long pull, very strong but would definitely recommend also.
Roos Roast is an incredible shop. The people are among the friendliest Ive encountered, they work fast, and theyre all about making sure youre happy. The shop itself has a very naturally bohemian vibe...not forced or faked like you see a lot of them time. Theyve also done a great job of adapting during covid, providing safe options to keep getting your coffee fix at a time when you need it most! Also ... Amazing coffee!!! Some of the best... especially the Lobster Butter Love.
Awesome little place, super accessible. Ordering was easy! Drink was tasty (ancho pancho mocha, extra spicy) and service was quick. Its a little expensive, but its Ann Arbor- everything remotely close to downtown is
Every time I come to Ann Arbor I have to visit this place. It is the best coffee shop around in Ann Arbor. I like to order the long pull coffee. It is very strong but very smooth if you want something sweet get the honey vanilla latte not too sweet but just right. If you are looking for something to eat with the coffee get the Apple pecan croissant very tasty.
Friendly and fun customer service. Very delicious coffee. The lime Mayo give the burritos that perfect flavor!
Fantastic quick stop in Ann arbor. The staff is accurate, speedy, and courteous. !! The Kilwins Creamery is just a few steps away.My drink of choice is a iced oat milk latte, extra espresso.
Vegan burrito is A M A Z I N G - perfect for breakfast. Iced almond milk dirty chai is super creamy, lightly sweetened with honey, and soooo yummy. We also tried the ginger lemon tea - woo, an awesome kick! They even have some fun stickers, apparel, & mugs for sale. We’ll be back :)
Great great coffee and very nice people! Loved it!
Love this location aswell. Best AA coffee.
I was visiting from out of town and wanted to escape the rain. I picked the right place! Everyone here was so nice, they play great music, and it’s super well decorated.I don’t know how to describe the coffee. When I first sipped it, I thought it was too strong, but it definitely grew on me within a few more sips. I’m sure the staff would be happy to put in some extra flavor if you wanted it! Really enjoyed my time here.
So happy they have a vegan burrito option! it was the perfect amount of food. By far some of the best flavored lattes in town. Highly recommend the classic honey vanilla latte or the lavender honey latte iced! Be sure to get some of their roasty beans too! Badass Women Blend is my fav! Such a pleasant Ann Arbor atmosphere and the staff are such kind people.
Nice street atmosphere, friendly staff and decent coffee.
Changed the menu completely since covid and got rid of the french john and avocado toast! i tried the truck stop sandwich and it was the worst thing ive eaten since moving out from my gluten-free sugar-free parents. soggy english muffin, flavorless egg and cold ham on the inside with the worst-tasting sauce ive ever encountered. it was extremely hard to eat. worse than airline food. still play great music though. 2 years ago roos roast was one of a couple great places in a town full of restaurants where you pay big bucks for a cute atmosphere and gross food but they have joined the swathes. just pack your own lunch and put loveless on in your car or something.
1st time there. Friendly service. Well be back.
Wonderful service and great drinks and food. I was looking for a morning bite to eat and the guys behind the counter recommended the breakfast burrito with potato. It was the best breakfast burrito Ive ever had! Thank you, Roos Roast!
I would go as far as saying Roos Roast is the best cup of coffee in south east Michigan. They have a great independent and eclectic vibe. Their staff has always been extremely friendly. They offer multiple coffee roasts to buy in bulk that are always fresh. A great place to hang out and experience a true gem of Ann Arbor.
Excellent quality roasts, inventive seasonal options, and tasty menu items. My favorite coffee place in Ann Arbor!
The cappuccinos here SLAP!
Excellent coffee, tasty food options and some sweet seasonal stuff as well. Roos is a staple of the Ann Arbor coffee community for sure.
If you say youre closing at 6...you should close at 6. I really love this place. The food, coffee, and tea are all wonderful. But Im only giving them a single star because every time I go they have aggressively started to close up shop at or before 5:30 despite the fact that their actual closing time is 6PM. The first time it happened they started playing incredibly loud and aggressive music as though they were actively trying to drive people out of the place (spoiler - it worked!). The second time, at 5:25 pm one of the employees yelled to the entire place that they were closing soon, so we should all start packing up/leave so they could start sweeping. In both cases they began to aggressively sweep around where people were sitting (one guy actually yelped because his foot was hit), and started putting up all the chairs on every single table where people were not actively sitting. Ive also seen them tell people they will not make certain types of coffee (such as aeropress) past 5:30 since it takes too long. As I said, I really love the place but this has now happened a few times in a row and its a jarring experience every time. If you want to close at 5:30... then close at 5:30. Or at least dont actively make people uncomfortable as youre starting to close down shop.
There’s a good local place that serves good coffee, and the one time I’ve eaten here the food was pretty good too. I’ve never had a bad experience and it’s a good place to sit down and do some work or just hang out with friends.
Stopped in for coffee after dinner and got a couple of hot cocoas for the kids. They were even nice enough to not heat the cocoa as hot for the kids. Cappuccino was smooth and tasted great! Will be back some time 😄
Great energy! Even better coffee! Arguably the best coffee in Ann Arbor, if not Michigan. Its all locally roasted and ethically acquired coffee. Some of the best service youll get as well. Lobster Butter Love, their flagship roast, is the BEST.
Just received my shipment of coffee, so yummy, missing Ann Arbor! And, got a very nice note from the Roos Team! Thank you so much for the very delicious coffee and your kindness. It matters a lot!!
RoosRoast is probably my favorite coffee shop in Ann Arbor, and maybe in Michigan! After having lived in the Bay Area for years, Id been looking for a coffee shop that matched the quality, vibe and overall atmosphere of some of my favorites out west without luck. However, after trying RoosRoast and spending an afternoon there, Id say its just about as close as you can get in Michigan! There are a good amount of Coffee options, and most people will find something they like here. They definitely have a solid amount of creative offerings, so try a few to see what you like best! On my most recent visit, I had their RoosRoast Cold Brew, and loved it. The quality of the coffee really shines through. RoosRoast also offers food options, which is definitely helpful if youre looking for a bite to eat while getting work done.In addition to the food/drink offerings, Id say one of the biggest draws of RoosRoast is the atmosphere and environment inside. All the decor along the walls shows you what kind of an establishment it is, and most of the signs/ posters will probably give you a chuckle. You can definitely tell people are getting things done inside the cafe, on my most recent visit, there were people reading, studying, and doing graphic design. In addition to the working spaces, you can certainly still socialize with your friends, its a chill environment overall.
Awesome local spot. Not a chain. Great staff who always greet you and if theres a line they ask to get your drink or food started. Some of the customers have sticks up their... You get it. But really a great cup of coffee or specialty coffee based drink. Great snacks as well. Never had it but people seem to be obsessed with their toast options. And theyve got the lobster 🤣....
Spent about $20 on breakfast with multiple items and drinks. Staff wouldnt let me use the bathroom.
Great coffee cake!
Excellent cinnamon rolls from Crust. Avocado toast never fails to please. Their coffee roasts arent my favorite, but lots of people love them, including my partner. Service is always excellent and the staff is super friendly.
I mean come on can coffee be this good? Yes, yes, it can. Not to mention the people that make it love it...the coffee, their work.
Always a pleasure to visit one of the best coffee shops in town. Excellent service paired with excellent coffee! Depending on the time of day it can be very crowded and often the music is too loud to have regular conversations or work effectively without headphones on.
Calm, relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Celiac (gluten free) friendly, but no gluten free snacks. I ordered the cappuccino and it was amazing. The milk they use is from a local dairy and it is rich and sweet with a very good flavor. I highly recommend this place!
Easily best coffee shop in Ann Arbor, possibly best in the state.
Great coffee and a place to read a book. Can get crowded at times. Also the food is good but only really good for a snack not a meal.
LOVE this place. Their coffee is great. Staff is SO helpful! I love how they use a local artist for their art work. I love the little shop area and the card to explain all the different types of coffee. The single origins keep me coming back too, since there is always something new to try! (Id be here for my coffee all the time anyway of course!)
I had a pleasant cup of coffee there but not much room for customers who want to stay and drink their coffee... But for coffee to go its fine though.
The local place I go to for coffee beans in Ann Arbor, they have a good range of coffees (and some teas). It feels like there are more dark roasts than anything else, which is fine with me, and you can also grab various coffee paraphernalia if you desperately need a branded coffee mug/press. If only they were open a little bit later during the week for emergency coffee supplies...
HotChocolateColdBrewwwwwwwww
Went to this location for the first time today and discovered that its bigger inside than it looks from the outside (though of course not as big as the Rosewood spot). Small food menu, but delicious options including a rice bowl, avocado toast, burrito (with meat option), toast with various toppings... all at reasonable prices. They dont go crazy on fancy drinks, but have high-quality coffee, can make whatever espresso drink you want, and have a selection of herbal teas. Nice local choice.
Everybody is so friendly there! Its my favorite spot for a break. They have the best avocado toast (add egg!), and the chocolate cold brew is great.
Great variety of coffee-holic and vegan things smack in the heart of A2! Owner is a local family man with morals and smarts, I enjoy supporting this type of family business! These people are actually contributing to my local hometown economy and culture (in Stark contrast to Starbucks!!!!)
Actually just remembered this place while I was downtown. Bought a mug, and a few bags of coffee for someone on my Christmas list last year. Having a particularly sleepy day at work, so I stopped in for a mocha with a shot of expresso, and a stroll downtown to wake me up. It woke me up, and the coffee was AMAZING! Ill be back for sure.
Missed this place on my last visit downtown, always good coffee. Hope you open soon!
Excellent atmosphere, coffee, and food. All the employees are wonderful, the coffee is top notch, I took home some of the mother pheasant plucker whole beans and its incredible. Ive also tried the rich French neighbor, thats wonderful too, very bold. This is a coffee shop that really cares about their customers, the product they are serving, as well as their impact on the earth. Great example of what a simple cup a joe could and should be.
Nice outdoor seating. Nice people who were willing to make space, and cute dogs to pet too. Piano is a nice touch and doesnt seem to be badly abused.
Great place, cozy. As in, not much space lol. Also kinda small burritos for $6. Delicious coffee though of course 😋
Stopped in for a coffee on a hot morning. They had delicious cold brew on tap and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw they had a breakfast burrito. I added the pulled pork shoulder. It was one of the best burritos Ive had in Michigan. Warning. It has a slight spicy kick.
I have tasted the espresso at just about every Ann Arbor establishment that offers espresso. RoosRoast hands down has the best! Seriously, good stuff folks!
If youve never tried it, youre missing out. Like really. So Go. Right now. If theyre closed, camp out. Wait all night if you have to. And youll be rewarded with probably the best cup of coffee this side of the Atlantic. Or the Pacific. Try anything-literally anything (heck Im sure even the napkins taste like buttery puff pastry) on the menu and youll be delighted with rich, complex and thoughtful flavors. Love. This. Coffee.
Best coffee in Ann Arbor. Love the food as well as the atmosphere. I have tried almost all of the cafes in Ann Arbor and this one is by far the best.
Always a stop anytime Im in Ann Arbor. Theyre incredibly friendly, and anything you get is guarunteed fresh. The Avocado toast with egg, and a Honey Vanilla latte is my go to!
Good coffee. A tight fit when ordering, but the bar seating area is nice and open. Not a quiet atmosphere, but nice. It had a younger crowd with tourists.
I travel a lot for work. The Lobster Butter Love as pour over is the best coffee I’ve found this far to date. I’ve only found one other place and blend that comes close in my opinion. I’m very happy I can keep getting those beans online wherever I am.
Great whole in the wall coffee shop. It seems popular among the students.
Roos is the staple place to get a cup of joe in a2.
Cute place but bad experience here. My for here coffee was given in a disposable container. My friend was loudly shamed for bringing an outside beverage when the employee could have let her know the rules in a much kinder way. But anyway, was my $5.50 beverage not enough to cover us both for less than an hour? Won’t deny the drinks are yum but I can’t see myself coming back soon
I love RoosRoast. Whether you go to the one here on Liberty or their sister location on Rosewood, both of these coffee shops are beautiful, unique, and are staffed by some of the friendliest, most knowledgable coffee specialists I have ever met. If youre swinging through Ann Arbor, make it your mission to take some time and relax with a Honey Vanilla Latte at either location.
Best coffee and coffee shop in Ann Arbor. Staff members are all incredibly friendly and helpful and their coffee is unbeatable in the city. Also features a well-made small menu of breakfast and lunch options.
RoosRoast has the best coffee in town. Beans are roasted at their location on Rosewood off of Industrial (between stadium and Eisenhower). I really enjoy their Dark Roast named Portland in the 90s, which is in keeping with the dark smoky style developed in Oregon. Their Lobster Butter Love is a great medium roast any coffee drinker will enjoy. If you live in Ann Arbor this is the coffee to drink.
Out of all the places I’ve visited in my few days in MI this is the one I’ll miss the most. Coffee is amazing and the place just feels alive
Nice cafe and have a good coffee selection. Staff seemed to be rushed and they rushed us during the order. Didnt really help us through their menu.
This is a good coffee joint. I like that its downtown and in the mix of things. Great outdoor and indoor seating. When I went it was busy and a lot of activity. I like their spot on Rosewood better, but this place still has the great coffee and its own little niche.
A bit tiny, but the staff are some of the nicest in town. My favorite drink is an oatmilk au pair, and its wonderful!
Amazing coffee!
Going to RooS Roast and gorging on their Avocado Smash (toast with avocado and egg on top) has become a Saturday morning ritual for me. Add in their amazing coffee (Lobster Butter is the best roast Ive tasted in Ann Arbor), and you are set for the morning! The staff is super, super friendly, and the service is really quick. Could not recommend this place highly enough!
Great coffee, and friendly staff! The oat milk latte is delicious.
The coffee I had here was fantastic. And the barista who talked to me was very friendly. He talked to me about how different ways of making coffee can affect the mouth feel and taste. One of the reason I love small coffee shops like this is because of the individual attention that staff gives you. Next time I go to Ann Arbor and need my coffee itch scratched, I definitely plan on frequenting here. Thanks for an awesome experience!
Strong coffee, friendly staff. Best local roaster, probably also the best coffee shop. Love this place.
One of my girlfriends goes here nearly every day and can not say enough good about it. She brings her computer and with their wifi enjoy her latte and a cute sliced log hi-top table. We stopped here between cocktails for a pick me up and were treated with great coffee...awesomely presented and a fun stop while enjoying Ann Arbor...
Very busy on a Saturday afternoon with people sitting inside and outside. I liked the piano nearby playing. The coffee was bitter and strong but in a good way.
The only downside is the price - They definitely seat on the high end of the Ann Arbor coffee market. The ambiance and the place are great - The coffee VERY good. The snack provided always good.Love it.
I spread (Lobster Butter) Love all over town !
Same drink choices as the original location, but I prefer the original location for the atmosphere. This location has better hours of operation tough.
I love roosroast. The liberty location is always packed (and for good reason)! Must try the avocado smash. Delicious.
Convenient location, delicious locally roasted coffee, friendly and knowledgeable staff. I stopped in to buy some beans. The man at the counter asked me some questions and offered helpful advice.
Roos Roast is a good local coffee shop for all your hipster vibes. Edgy vibes, good drinks, fun stickers, and good location.
Staff are really friendly.Tasty brews!
One of the few locally owned coffee shops that open at 7AM. (mighty good & comet too.) gets boisterous by about 9:30AM. everybody who works here loves coffee. always friendly. unlike other local coffee businesses, this one (john) is taking a pretty serious foray into prepared entrées, which look like they will be giving local restaurants a run for their money in this space!
The best avocado toast I have ever had. Highly recommend this place. Very cozy place and friendly as well.
Insanely unique coffee roaster with a variety of offerings. I highly appreciate the various bag sizes available!
Energy boosting coffee with a unique and delicious taste. Great for breakfast and lunch as well.
So glad to see this place expanding. Its often a bit busier than the original location, just because its downtown, but the coffee is still delicious and their food menu is rockin! Avocado toast is the perfect snack!
I super love Roos with all my heart. Ive been coming to Roos for many years now. Way back when Rosewood was the only location and it was shared with the little business next to them. Its been fun to watch them grow, yet keep the funky, fun, local vibe. I know John and the crew will work hard to keep that vibe as Roos Roast makes its way world famous ❤
Great coffee, warm atmosphere, friendly staff, good food. What more can you ask for?
I personalized some sort of vanilla bean iced coffee. It was really good, about two years ago. Friendly employees.
These folks take good coffee seriously. Im not sure if they roast their own, but it tastes like it. Made with love!
Avocado toast is fire here. Get it with the soft-boiled eggs.
Ive had their drip coffee, as well as their whole bean coffee on drip from other places that grind and prepare it on their own (under the initial guidance of RoosRoast staff). Ive not been impressed with those purchases yet, pouring the cup out more often than finishing them. They have so far have been typically quite over-extracted - face-contortingly bitter, especially as the coffee cools. Sometimes Ive tasted pleasant notes beneath under-extracted brews of their Lobster Butter blend, but Ive not tasted it brewed well yet. However, I recently went in to see if I could brew it better myself. Im writing this over a cup of one of their single-origin coffees, a honey process (unspecified past that) from I think Nicaragua. My extraction on it is a touch off but I can tell that this definitely has potential to really taste great given the right water and extraction. I did notice that their bags arent very well-sealed and the roast date was a while in the past, which limits your ability to hold it for a week or two to your preference directly after roasting.I cant speak to the potential of their blends - perhaps Ill give one of them a try once Im through this bag. However, I can at the very least vouch that at least this bag of beans seems to be quality enough and the roast is fine. This is also specific to their Liberty location, Ive not tried their drip coffee nor roasted beans directly from their roasting location so cannot attest to its quality.EDIT: Still going through the same bag that I started this review with. It reads: Nicaragua regalo De Dios, Mozonte, Nueva Segovia region, Pacamara varietal. Ive dialed this in and indeed it has some nice sweet notes with very little bitterness. Its a bit heavy and oily in its mouthfeel, but not acrid or sharp. I think that if comparing local roastaries Im going to prefer Hyperion in Ypsilanti (my go-to); Id say that these beans are a bit overdone for my tastes, but its serviceable. Another update will be forthcoming when Im done with this bag and try brewing their lobster butter blend.
