I love the people that work at the ankeny gamestop

An amazing place for Amazing people. I always have great experience when I go here. The employees are very helpful and always keep you up to dat on the latest gaming news. Last week I ordered a headset and controller for my xbox 1 and got it at least five days later!! Im a happy customer for sure.

Funko Pops were on sale thru today!

Checked the stores stock online to make sure they had a NEW GAME I wanted. When I showed up I told the employee who I think is the manager what I wanted. He proceed to lie to me and told me they had no new copies, and pushed a USED COPY OF THE GAME.... once I called him out on it and told them they had 2 new, he suddenly stuttered and said “oh ya”.... bad customer service, and way too pushy about upgrading to PRO MEMBERSHIPS. I shouldn’t have to tell you 10x a visit I don’t want a pro membership... This is why I prefer buying games digitally, no pushy sales people who lie!

I called yesterday asking if they do cash trade ins for . Nintendo switch they said but give a few hours . So I go in today and still they wont do a cash trade in . There tade values are terrible there customer service . Isnt very good so I wont be back ever I was an elite pro member . But that doesnt make any difference . Gamestop just lost a customer and top of that I got lied to by Gamestop .

Not very helpful with service

Had an order for pickup, since I couldnt come in the door. Put wrong game in order. Fairly big mistake to make. So I went to the store to get the game and Anderson (clerk) gives me the correct game. Being somewhat cautious, what being burned before by this store, I check the number of games (supposed to be 5) in the package. Turns out to be three. Now when I made the purchase on the website, there was no mention that two of the games would not be included. But Anderson cant give me a straight answer if they are included or not. While he is hemming and hawing, staring at the game case doing nothing to look up the information on this game, his district manager steps in to speed things along. Looks up Gamestop site on his phone. (No one has tried using the company computer yet) I explain that when I ordered the game the site clearly listed all five games. Manager explains to me that it most likely will automatically trigger the DLC when inserted into my console.Told me that if the DLC didnt work that I could back and that they would refund the disc or make it right. I assumed that meant they would give me a code for the games that I paid for. Nope. I called and was answered by Anderson again. He told me that his manager told him that the only thing that can be done is refunding the game. So I get less than I paid for, or I get nothing. This after giving me the wrong game to begin with. Thats not taking care of your customers, Gamestop.

Friendly service and someone there always knows your game and the system. Theyve improved service over the last couple years, I reccomend this location for gaming needs.

You know the deal. Theyll offer you next to nothing for your stuff. In my case it was $11.25 for 5 Xbox 360 games, a controller, a Kinnect, and power supply. I took the stuff they wouldnt buy to a nearby store and got $38. Guy working there was nice though.

Went into this Gamestop to buy a Switch case. We were the second people in line and spent 35 minutes waiting for the people in front of us to initiate a buy back for a console and a few games and doing a fix for a ps4. We ended up leaving. If you are going to offer those services, you should have a separate station for them away from where people actually buy things. The line was 15 people deep. Completely ridiculous.

Great GameStop location! I live in West Des Moines but end up coming to this location on ocassion. I am always impressed by how clean and organized the store is, especially compared to some of the other stores in my area. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and I have never had a bad experience here, which I cannot say about other locations.

Everyone that works here is fantastic and curteous. They really try to make sure you are being helpes even if you dont need any. The store is generally clean and neat and the staff is usually knowledgeable about the games they sell. It doesnt have as much stock as some of the other local gamestops but makes up for it with customer service.

A nice place for console peasants to get what they need. Every major system represented . Large signage allows you to find what you need usually for the system youre looking for . They did have have a large selection of Rick and Morty stuff which always adds a star.

Used games are still kind of expensive. Staff are very hit and miss. One of the only places in ankeny to get decent games though.

Understaffed, slow staff. People bring in at least 10 games to trade it seems, staff is slow at checking the discs and couldn’t stop talking about upcoming product/reservations or warranties. Stood in line over 30 minutes with only 2 in front of me

This store has never let me down. I wish their prices were a lot better. Buy your games around 10% of what you would ask for them and sell them depending on what I assume to be their popularity and a much higher price. Obvious its a business trying to make money to be able to pay its employees, understandable, however if you buy a console at 50 bucks and sell it for a 120% markup as pre owned, who is really winning? I give it only 4 stars due to this reason alone. If it were truly meant for the consumer I would rate a full 5. Though I will admit GameStop gives us consumers the opportunity to purchase games at a discounted price even though they are pre owned. With that said I will happily admit Ipersonally have only had 3 bad experiences with the games Ive bought at GameStop, 2 of which were due to me not disliking the games, the third was a manufacturing problem in the dis reading, the third was easily remedied by inserting the disc going to the online store and downloading it from there. Remember also keep the disc in the console if you are unable to download it from the disc. If you do not keep it in the console during said download you will not be able to freely download the game from the store.

Pretty decent collection of pre-owned and new games, especially for Xbox One.

I love this GameStop. Every time Im in, Reva is always so helpful. Tonight she taught me how to do an online hold and helped me get a game preordered, all within a couple minutes. A definite retail rockstar!

The best Gamestop with the best employees. Hands down the best place to go in the Des Moines area. The other Gamestops dont even come close to how friendly and helpful they are here.Plus this is the only prestige Gamestop in the DSM. So win win.

Decent Gamestop but the help is always to busy to actually help. Ive been told i dont know without them looking or inquiring about my questions more than once. Frustrating!!

I called in one day to reserve an item. Employee said that he could hold it for me. When I got there he had said he ran into a dilemma, that he didnt have it. Could have saved me a 20 mile drive by checking inventory before claiming he could hold it.

1st, There crappy website had a deal but it was so buggy we spent an hour just to get it reserved for this store. 2nd, You cant purchase the game to be held at the store like Walmart, Target, Best Buy. 3rd, They send you an email that its being held for you but dont tell you its only held for 24 hours. They then dont send you an email after 24 hours so you show up and its not there. 4th, They only hold the item. Since the item already went back up in price the next day, they will try to sell it to you for normal price.

So far not impressed with this gamestop its staff is no help and kinda snobby tried to buy a ps3 online but my pro elite discount was not being applied so got tired fiddling with the site and called the store was pretty much told they cant do store to store or pickup at store for that item then i was told i can ither pick it up 70miles away at a diffrent store or pay full price online +shipping to my address befor i moved i never had issues with my local gamestop but this ones just sucks now looking online for alternatives to shop for my gaming needs regret upgrading to elite pro

The lady looked up all we asked for and showed us extras coming out in future months. Very friendly worker, we have gone back many times in the last 3 years.

This place is great, however I hate how pushy they are about, pro-cards, preorders and whenever I buy something, they always try to push more. Its odd this happens, after all, Im just a pre-teen who loves games!

I would recommend this Gamestop location to anyone. My only issues would be that they are quite pushy about pre-orders and reserves when youre making a purchase. Otherwise the employees are very friendly, and knowledgeable. I have never had a negative experience at this location.For anyone else dropping reviews, please understand the pushiness is not the fault of the employees, the company is ridiculously pushy and breathes down their necks about preorders and other types of presales.

Nice with lots of variety.

I was promised a midnight relase on a game, when I pre-ordered it. The staff was friendly and helppful, but a couple days before the release, i was texted that my game would be available in the morning. I called to verify that the midnight release was still going to be available, and lo and behold they had cancelled the midnight release. I know its just a game, and its just a few hours difference, but I had already taken off work and wasted precious vacation time to prepare for this event, which i was looking forward to, and now it is not available due to a failed promise from this company. 2 stars, just for the associates being polite throughout the whole ordeal. Gamestop has lost a customer though.

A while back there was a system where you could bring in a game that had some glitches caused by scratches. They dont have that system anymore. Really. I am not buying another 60 dollar game

I don’t know what happened to customer service but they seem to have replaced old staff with stuck up nerdy a holes the past four times I’ve been there I’ve waited over a half hour and there were only three people in front of me at the most out of any of those occasions the are very rude and would rather sit there talking to a customer I can only assume they know but I’d rather inhale cancer causing chemicals all day then give my money to this place I’m now making the switch to all digitally games so I do t have to deal with these morons ever again you should too
