Very fun place to shop, wide variety of fabrics, yarn, and tools needed when working with fabric and yarn.

JoAnns, unfortunately, is about the only game around for sewing notions and fabric without going online. They badly need a competitor. I needed some finishing touches for a wedding outfit. I found some buttons that worked out well. I also found some snap tape that I needed for another project.

I bought online to pick up in store, but somebody there couldnt find the merchandise even though its where it should have been. The order was cancelled and it took 5 days to get the charge taken off my account. I brought the merchandise that they said they did not have, and ended up having a second charge on my card because they could not use the first charge to pay for the second purchase. Jo-Anns online says its up to the bank to drop the charge but the bank says they have no control over it and its up to Jo-Anns to get rid of it.

I actually dont like this place but my wife loves it, so we go here often. I usually sit out in the truck while she shops.

Good prices and a lot of items for my daughter to choose.

Wide variety of craft, sewing and home decor. Most fabric is decent quality, just need to make sure it is appropriate quality for your project. Some of the quilting fabrics have poor quality and wont hold up.

Great service and great coupon prices

If you need fabric Joann Fabrics and Crafts has it. If you want impeccable customer service and an overall delightful shopping experience, probably not the place. Also, I learned a secret about getting the fabric cut. Have them start one fabric for you and just go mill about finding others and bring them up while other customers wait. There was a lady that had her husband stand there, while she went and found more fabric. Instead of taking a new number and getting back in line.

Its very nice in here. Nicely organized with lots of DIY and craft supplies. The prices are a bit expensive, but thats to expect. I love their cake section. So many cool tools and ideas. If you love creating things, Joanns is the place for you!

Ankeny store is my favorite fabric store in Central Iowa. Friendly staff and great fabric selection.Usually I shop online and Joanns online customer service is also outstanding. Whether in store or online Joanns makes shopping easy.

The store is great. I enjoy going in there to shop. My only problem is that there are several very unfriendly employees. They active it is an effort for them to speak to customers.

Prices are inflated and most customers use coupons for every transaction. Thats annoying as a consumer but they have a decent selection.

Great people super store

I stoped into the Joann’s store in Ankeny just about an hour ago to look for some stretch denim. To my surprise I found some! As the young lady was cutting I noticed this man walking around he seemed acting bossy. I just blew it off till I was checking out and the clerk ask for assistance. Guess who showed up at the register.. yes, mister boss! He proceeded to check me out with an attitude. My phone was giving me trouble an I ask him if he could do the 50% of coupon, he said no till other customers stepped in.. he reluctantly pulled his phone up and gave me to 50% off. He was mad, I ask him for my receipts, he through my receipts in a tiny bad with interfacing and walked off letting me with all my fabric I just purchased laying on the counter. He couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I can’t believe Joann’s would hire someone like this???? I know I don’t want to shop there as long as he is working there..

I feel their regular cotton material was way below average...very poor. All they had was fleece, more fleece & Christmas. Very disappointing.

Taking a number to have fabric cut sucked but overall it was great.

Yesterday I purchased the same amount of 3 pieces of fabric for a project. None of the fabrics were cut the same length. Two were cut 1” smaller than requested ( and paid for) and now are too small for my project. Normally I am happy with Joann’s, but evidently this worker didn’t care much about her job

Excellent store for sewing motions and crafting supplies. However, not the best quality fabrics. Short handed a lot of the time. But the clerks who work there do an excellent job.

I asked for a certain type of material, the employee smiled and led me right to it, then asked if he could help me with anything else. All employees and customers had on masks and following social distancing.

I was looking to make a tie fleece blanket.I see couple options. Almost went with a panda bear print. But seen the cubs prints. So went with that. We are cubs fans.My first blanket by myself . Alot of work and my fingers are sore.

They always have the fabric I am looking for I love their wide selection. The workers are kind and I love coming here.

Staff was very friendly and very helpful to answer a few of my questions, but they were pretty severely UNDERstaffed. Too few people trying to do too many things - it wasnt even a terribly busy time in the store, but they were struggling to meet needs. The employees that WERE there, again, though stretched too thin and literally running to help people, were supremely nice and helpful.

Large selection of fabric. Lots of great sales on craft items. UK Scrapbook Magazines come with stamos, dies, embossing folders, decorative papers & more.

Joanns satisfies the need for a fabric store in Ankeny but I often find myself searching for newer and more modern prints. As well as a better apparel selection. Customer service is pretty good. One of the staff members went above and beyond for me by getting dirty to get a batting I needed that my arms were to short to reach. (She had to lay on the floor ) however they arent very careful when cutting their fabric which can make projects difficult. Always get more than you think you need.

Cashier was a little rude when I showed her my military ID. Said its supposed to be loaded on the app. I asked about people who dont have smartphones -she just shrugged her shoulders.

Went in looking for round canvas, which their website said they carried but they did not.

I love shopping at Joann because of the variety of supplies they carry and the sales and coupons that they offer. However, something always seems to be in disarray at this location. Carts of new merchandise sitting unattended in front of empty shelves, missing signage, aisles in desperate need of tidying, staff complaining about their jobs to each other in front of customers, etc.

The price checkers didnt work, but overall I had a good experience.

I just went to this store for the first time in awhile. They have actually cleaned it up. I had wrote in and told them their clearance section was awful and store was dirty and you can never find anyone on the floor that looks happy and will help you. The man that managed store use to yell at the girls right in front of customers. The store has done a 180. I will go there before going to Michaels. They also give Vets discounts just like Michaels.

Morgan was great! She had a smile on when at the checkout and made sure I got my coupon applied.

Always find what I need for projects. Love the coupons and the seasonal decor!

Great place for clothing and craft projects

I saved 50 percent on products I purchased, fabric and quilt batting, which I know is true savings because these are products I buy often. As a person on a fixed budget, these savings mean a lot to me!

This one does not have as much selection as others that Ive been to. Id prefer to go to Hobby Lobby.

Not a bad store. The staff is just not great. Watch out for Matthew......very rude. If I see him I dont even go in anymore. Cute product and fabric though.

The availability of supplies is usually good. The staff at both Ankeny and Clive locations usually are clueless, slow and/or rude. Their system for online ordering and store pickup SUCKS!! I have had to wait in line for an hour due to their system issues. Online ordering and shipping to home works a little better, but comes from multiple stores and sometimes they cut the fabric weird to fulfill the order.

Theres always a great selection of natural fabric and coupons are available on their app (be sure to download it before you enter the checkout line so you dont have an awkward pause with the cashier).

Fab! They have loads of crafting opportunities for children of all ages.
