I would say I got a good deal on a work car purchase, nothing perfect but a low mile car at a good price. I would like to recommend this business but would not due to service after the sale and unwillingness to fix the exhaust problem. From now on my under car work will go to Iowa Muffler and Brake much more professional. 2 stars

When we went out to the truck we realized the truck wouldn’t even start. They came out to our place and got the truck running. We appreciate their willingness to fit us in their busy schedule. They were very honest with what was wrong. It turned out to be a simple fix when we were expecting much worse- a perfect scenario for people to take advantage of a customer but this company did not!! I highly recommend them. We will always take our vehicles there from now on.

Worst experience ever! While looking for a car, I scheduled before hand to look at a vehicle he didn’t even have it ready. I wanted to hear the engine cold start and was not given the opportunity, once he finally arrived with the vehicle he left it running and forgot his battery pack (used to jump a car) in the passenger seat. While listening to the engine you could definitely tell it was misfiring. I ran the codes and guess what?Cylinder 1,2,3 and 4 Misfire and a fuel evap leak. There was damage to the body of the car (the hood latch and tail light cover) which I had been told would be fixed before our appointment, needless to say it was not fixed. I gave him a week in advance that I would be looking at this car. Showed no professionalism, rude, and takes potential customers for granted. Apparently if I was naive I would have made a better costumer. His website is BS he is not honest and he even tried to raise the price when we agreed over a set amount.

Had a lot of major work done to my 2011 Hyundai Sonata. Rebuilt transmission, new torque converter, gave me a great deal on a gasket fix in a difficult spot, oil change, new cad converter ALL for a really great price. Although I know very little about cars, he walked me through what he did by showing me under the hood, sent photos, kept me updated via text, and overall, everyone that works there is very personable. Ill be doing my automotive maintenance business with Ericson from now on. Great people.

We were looking for a car for our daughter and found one at Ericson on line. We spoke to Dayton on the phone about the quality of of the car. We drove 2+ hours and were happy to see the car was just as described. The staff was helpful. We are happy with the exceptional deal we got.

Had something worked on & was told it was going to be done at the end of the day. He never started it, nor did he notify me cause when I showed up, he just said he was busy. One of his staff members even apologized multiple times for him, & that apparently “he does this a lot”

Yesterday (10/31) my husband had a terrible experience with Ericson Auto in Ankeny. Husband arranged an appointment to buy a used 2003 Pontiac Vibe with a rebuilt clutch and a hood latch that needed replaced (and was promised to be replaced before appointment) for a negotiated price of $3,000. Husband arrived about 20-30 minutes before schedule with cash in hand. The vehicle was not at the lot, it was apparently being picked up from a CarMax parking lot. After waiting about 30 minutes past the scheduled time my husband went into the office to see what was going on. The car had arrived and was left running with a battery jumper pack in the passenger seat. He was then told that when they arrived to pick up the car it had a dead battery and one flat & one nearly flat tire. Also at this time he was told the agreed price of $3,000 was no longer offered and the final price would be $3,500. Husband decided to inspect the car and test drive before making his decision. Due to the car being left running my husband and brother in law (who is a certified mechanic with over 15 years experience) was unable to hear a cold start of the engine. Even with the vehicle being warm you could clearly hear problems in the engine, the sales person said that it was the engine relearning its idle after being jumped. Due to this my brother in law used his snap-on diagnostic tool to scan the vehicles computer for any codes. The vehicle came back with many, including misfires in cylinders 1-4 and an engine lean code (which can mean engine vacuum leaks). At this time they inspected the body of the vehicle and saw that the hood latch had not been replaced as promised. It also had a busted tail light assembly. My husband took it for a test drive and found that the gears shifted rough, it needed new brakes and it pulled to the left. After the test drive my husband told the salesperson that he was going to pass on purchasing the vehicle. The salesperson sarcastically replied Good luck. After the experience my husband decided to post his first ever review onto google, the reply that he received is childish, unprofessional and rude. After reading through all the reviews we found many owner replies that were similar, if not worse. We certainly will steer clear of this business and will advise all of our friends, family and community to do the same.

We bought a Toyota Camry from this dealership summer of 2019. we were told that it had not been wrecked, that it had a new engine put in and some other things similar. After driving it 60 miles home, a “clunk” had developed on the front end. The car needs about $1000 to repair the front end damage. It clearly had been in an accident. I would not recommend this dealership.

Great service. Made one phone call and he was there after hours to change out two tires. Great guy to call if you need work done.

Went out of his way to help us out in an emergency. He stayed open late for us so we could get the tires fixed on the car. Really good person and very cooperative. Doesn’t over charger.

I was in a hurry to find a cheap replacement for a work car. I was pretty adamant about buying an awd. He didnt have any ready. The only one he had was one hed set aside as a future project. When I told him that I needed it in a couple of days he dedicated one of his employees to completing the work required (which was a substantial amount!).Not only did he get it ready for me on time, I got a great deal on a car that probably should have cost me quite a bit more!Ill be back in the future!

Dayton Ericson, the owner, helped my daughter and I find an inexpensive car for her to have at college. He showed us around the lot, only showed me cars in our price range. He was very honest and upfront, told me what was good or lacking about each car. He let us put down a small down payment while we waited for a loan to come in. In the mean time he put in a stereo, fixed a handle and had the car ready to go for us. He was easy to get a hold of and very flexible. I would definitely recommend going to his dealership and will buy again from him if we need another older car.

We had a great experience with Ericson Auto! I had been having car trouble for the past few days and my Toyota Camry recently started dying at stop lights. I needed my car repaired in a timely manner due to working in Ames on an evening shift and I was worried of stalling on the interstate late at night. Dayton had my car fixed within hours of calling and was so easy to work with. He explained what he was fixing and the reason for it in a way that was easy for me to understand. He went above and beyond and made my car run like new! Great customer service and reasonable prices!

Definitely cheaper than most other places. Plus, Im a loyal veteran and respect other vets. Especially those who dont sugar coat news r try and BS me. Ive grown to respect him and dont even haggle with him anymore because hes worked with me and has gained my trust. Took my girlfriend out to get her a new car as her old one was turning into more projects than we wanted to handle. Saw Ericson auto online and took a look at their inventory and they had an excellent selection of cars for a good price. Stopped by and took a look at some that we saw and he got us hooked up with an excellent condition Toyota Solara with low miles and worked with us to get it to our price range.He even rotated the tires and balanced them to get the car into the best shape for us. Very easy to talk to and not a pushy salesmen by any means like you can run into at bigger dealerships. Would highly recommend checking out his shop and taking a look at his inventory for anything from 1st cars for teens or if your looking to upgrade!

Didnt even buy the car from this man, just called to inquire about a vehicle my husband asked what accident the car had been in because the website that we searched on through cars guru stated that there was one accident reported, so my husband asked and The dealer stated well its 2500 bucks what do you expect but then wanted to know where we got our information and how we knew that it was in an accident so my husband explain to him that it was on the website that there had been an accident reported. My husband expressed that he was very rude and he came back saying well youre kind of accusing of the worst again my husband said no I was just trying to find out what kind of accident that it had been in since it had been reported that there was one. And he still did not tell us what kind of accident the vehicle was in. Very rude was willing to pay cash on anything under $3000 yes this was a cheap vehicle for 2500 we expect that there may be an accident so we were just inquiring about what kind of accident. We would never ever do business with this individual and I highly recommend no one else does.

Back then my roommate bought a car from (NIssan Maxima) you . Back then me and my roommate was not so experienced with cars and relied a lot on you. Which resulted in a good looking car with a faulty transmission (Gear was not shifting properly from drive to reverse). We contacted with you and you were extremely rude with us.Anyways, I hope you are doing great now and your recent customer are very happy with your service. Good Luck.

Lied about the amount of time he owned the vehicle. Lied about contacting carmax after he lost a POA form i needed to register the van... Refused to help in any way. Had to take everything upon myself. Took 3 months to get this van registered because he screwed up and lost a form. Never told me about the fault water pump in the van, was a simple swap that i did myself. If he were a mechanic he could have done this before he even tried to sell the van. He owned it for over a year and never drove it like he said in his review posted here. The battery in it wouldnt start the van. Hard to work with and a bad businessman. Id rather have spent more to get something elsewhere.
