Watch out for scams here. Overpriced products. LOOK UP your products online to get them way cheaper. WATCH OUT for no return policy. They will promise something works for your computer, it doesn’t, then you can’t return it. Tread carefully here and honestly avoid if at all possible.
They scalp on GPU prices. Charging 1200 for 3060s and 1500 for 3070s luckily I got a whole desktop with a 3070 from best buy for 1550 then paying that for just a GPU
I bought a new computer from them and they were only supposed to copy my profile and content to my new computer and leave everything as is on my old system. I dont know what they did but when we brought the old system home we plugged it in and none of our profiles would work. We took it back for them to fix and they ended up reinstalling windows and erasing everything. They made a back up copy on one of the extra drives but it didnt save any of my daughters programs or settings. On top of that the manager Brian was rude and tried to blame us.
Went to get thermal paste which was reasonably enough priced considering they markup other products over a 100% (ie GPUs). Shopping here is supporting scalpers and this business is part of the problem. Would not recommend. Never thought I would say this but go down the street to best buy for a better deal.** Update After Owner Response**Owner is clearly lying. Even his employee felt guilty selling them at marked up scalper pricing. Added pictures to show proof. Enough said.
Cannot speak to their repair department but their components are the same price as Best Buy for most stuff with far more knowledgeable staff. They helped me build my first computer and buy upgrades to it, walking me through the steps needed to install and set stuff up while also offering me used parts and a free cable here or there to help everything fit into my budget.
Fastest service..ever... Ive gone there for 15 yrs.,...never have I been dissatisfied..happiest of all costomersin all of Alaska😃😃😄😀😁😄😃😀😃😄
I bought a PC from them that immediately had problems. When I took it into them, they misdiagnosed the problem and ended up charging me over $400 in repair costs (almost half the price of the computer THEY SOLD ME) over the course of a few months. The problem was never fixed.I have learned one lesson from this experience:DONT BUY USED/REBUILT COMPUTERS FROM HERESomething on it will break, it wont be under warranty, theyll charge you for diagnostics 91 days out and you might have to pay over $400 in repairs while they say it happens sometimes. Completely ridiculous way to treat a lifetime customer. It took me two days of Youtube and $100 to fix the problem myself. For so many problems on a PC they supplied, they should be responsible for repair, not the customer. They need to stop scalping and get back to focusing on the customer. I want to like them but they make it really tough.
Love this store. The owner is a good guy with good service and good used electronics at a reasonable price. Check him out before buying brand new.
Brian is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Great local business!
It only gets 3 starts because my husband is Obsessed with you guys. Lol
Great service quality people and products
Dont normally leave reviews, but this computer shops customer service has been nothing but awesome. They helped us diagnose multiple issues with my gaming PC build with quick and easy advice. Would definitely come back to buy more products or have them help me with any other computer issues.
So really really bad experience dont go there I bring my laptop here because I thought laptop need new window they said ya we can do charge 65 dollars and when I open still old window and I bring back to them they said we update to current window if you want new window give us 65 dollars again we can fix it its been only 2 weeks so please careful
While building my new PC, I needed a special cable that I had broke. They gave me solid advice on tracking on down and showed me their best options. The next day I needed some random mounting hardware. I went in and they were so helpful! They let me dig through their scrap hardware to find what they need. They didn’t have to be so helpful, but they were, and very nice while doing it.Will definitely return.
This place is amazing. I’ve worked with them twice for two completely different things, and they were able to get everything figured out and fixed quickly and efficiently.
Everything is marked way up. 700 bucks for a ryzen 7 5800x. The MSRP is $450. $2700 for a 3080 rtx. MSRP 700-900 bucks. Yeah... Ill wait the week for shipping.
Knowledgeable and helpful employees. Good computer repair and service.
I’m here to let people know.. I’d rather watched video on YouTube how to fix pc for free than pay $115 dollars just to see what’s wrong with the pc!! Employee over there is stealing people money!! Man this is why trust issues with people and there businesses...smh!!
Great staff! The owner was super helpful and more than willing to answer questions. Will definitely be going back.
Great service and a VERY fair price. Stopped in to get a Dell laptop charger because I left mine at home in Houston. Got one on the counter quickly, let me get my laptop to make sure it was the correct charger and it charged my laptop. In and out with my charger in about 4 minutes. Great service, fair price and out the door. THANKS.
Good work, not expensive and good staff.
This store is selling high demand parts for considerably more than MSRP. For example, an RTX 3070 GPUs MSRP is roughly $500-$600. They are attempting to gouge customers by selling them for over $1000. This is scalping.
While the service is good and Ive had no issues with the staff, I wouldnt reccomend coming here if youre planning on buying computer hardware. Most of their products are marked up around twice of what their value should be. Im mainly talking about prebuilt computers and hardware here, the prebuilt computer bundles are the worst offenders often costing over $1,000 for computers only worth $400.
Built my dad an entire computer in only a couple of hours thanks guys.
Pretty dope place.
These people are very good to customers. I went in needing to buy standoffs and Brian (the manager), had a bucket full and told me to help myself. He also gave me an old used sata cable at no cost. Other places nickel and dime you. These guys just want to see you come back. I dont go any other place.
This place is awesome. Fixed any and all issues with my ailing laptop. I will add that this isnt the first time Ive been here - had a busted-down laptop a few years ago that Computer Renaissance couldnt do anything for and so didnt charge me.These guys are as good as they are honest. Thanks for helping me keep my main machine afloat!
My computo seemed to have died. Took it to several places and no one wanted to touch it. I was ready to buy a new one.eye someone said to take it to computer Renaissance. I took it in. The guy behind the counter listened to me, one star. He then plugged it in. Dont know what he did, other than plug it in but it started up. I was so happy, because I had tried everything. Unplugged it and let it sit over night. Re plugged it. Nothing I tried helped. I asked what I owed him. He told me nothing. He kept me from having to buy another computer. Thank you thank you.
Unlike theGeek Squad they truly know computers and were very helpful and personable.
The employees are friendly and personable, making it really easy to approach them with help on fixing your computer. (I even got a great recommendation for a new Netflix series to watch.) In that regard, they would earn a much higher grade than what Im giving them now. Unfortunately, when it came to actually fixing my laptop, I was left somewhat dissatisfied. To start with, the reason I brought my laptop in was because it had issues with its screen flickering. So I asked what was going on with it, they explained the problem and the solution, and I left the laptop with them to get it fixed. Paid a bit under $400; a bit pricey, but not that big of a deal. If I could use my laptop again without wanting to stab my own eyes out, then itd be well worth the cost.Unfortunately, while the initial screen flickering problem was now vastly improved (though not completely fixed), new problems had been introduced. For example, I could no longer adjust the brightness setting on my laptop. And when I took the laptop back, within the warranty period mind you, I was told that I would have to pay about $500 to get it fixed because certain parts would have to be replaced. Five hundred dollars! Just so I could adjust the lighting again!I paid the initial $400 to get my computer fixed; not to have its problems replaced with other problems. So instead I took my laptop to a relative who used to work at Geek Squad and he fixed it in about 15 minutes without even touching the actual hardware. Additionally, he found another problem that had been introduced to my laptop, in that the computer was processing 100% of the disk space all the time, hence why my computer had become so much slower. He is now very kindly fixing it for me.Looking at the other reviews for this store, it seems that as a whole they do a good job, and I dont think its fair to judge them based on one bad experience, especially since in the end what I got was an improvement over what I had. However, if I ever go there again to get my computer fixed, I would definitely make sure to get a second opinion on the issue, and I recommend anyone else who goes there to do the same. Just in case.
Business takes care of their customers and is very helpful. Went in to buy a network card. The associate was personable.
I have gone to Computer Renaissance several times over the years for assistance with computer repair crises...have been happy every time. But this last time, they went above and beyond, retrieving data from a dead hard drive that even they didn’t think was possible. But they went the extra mile to try, and Voila! My old data is now happily installed on a new 2TB harddrive. Feels like nothing short of a miracle! Thank you, Computer Renaissance, for rescuing my data!
No complaints whatsoever. They came recommended from another company, didnt jerk me around. They were transparent, clear, and honest. Got my quote, got my rig in, they did exactly what they said, and charged for exactly what they did. No mystery in any step.First time I needed a shop for something I didnt have and honestly would do it again.
Ive gone to them for all my computer needs over the last 10 years.Always friendly and helpful even when I brought in computer parts that I didnt buy from them. They didnt gouge me on installation costs.
I was having router issues. The staff member was attentive and knowledgeable. The router was beyond repair. I was given good instruction on dealing with the manufacturer warranty, which I will deal with later, and ended up purchasing a different model. I am a satisfied customer, would recommend, and this will be my first stop for all things computer.
The parts they provide are at least okay. The staff is seriously only knowledgeable of the basics of what is asked of them. The man sold me case fans that at least worked, but failed to give me any working mounting screws. Constantly ignored the information I was giving him about my own Case. Proceeded to give me screws that he insisted were industry standard when I told him they were not what I needed for that particular fan/case set up, he just kept telling me Im probably wrong and he kept insisting that they would work in the case.I asked him for a specific screw, insisting I needed them for the fans. Finally he obliged, and looked for them. He came back with only 2 screws for all the case fans that I bought(3). Guess what? The 2 screws that were long enough to reach my case didnt even work!(too big) F$#K ! I luckily found some that would fit in my own garage, but i needed 12 originally. Long story short DONT GO HERE. SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE. if you can, get the parts you need online because im sure they were overpriced as well. 120mm case fans. 8.50 a pop.
Great place! Walked in, friendly staff, knowledgeable, fixed my problem...out in ten minutes! Highly recommend!
Overpriced but good selection. if you cant wait to order online for the same things at a much better price, i suggest this shop. Employees seem knowledgeable. At least with my short interactions with them.
Very satisfied with the customer support and service they provided. Also very knowledgeable about their products and other that are on the market. I dropped off my computer that had troubles and by the end of the day I get a call back saying the service is completed. Very fast and friendly people. 5/5
Double msrp on a graphics card is a little much.
These guys are the best in the area. The prices can be higher than what youd find online, but when youre in a pinch and you need something asap, they will have it and will help you with anything you need. They even recommended that I not buy a more expensive item when I could just use a cheaper part. I always recommend this shop.
Great customer service and parts for a fair price!
Brought in my computer not knowing what was wrong, they fixed it up pretty quick and for a good price. Will use their services again if needed. Thanks guys!
I have used this company for years..they are knowledgable, fast, and up front with their charges. I am very happy with the customer service and the quality of the work performed. Highly recommended.
DONT GO HERE TO REPAIR!!!They had my computer twice for a month each time. The first time they I brought it in there they were supposed to fix my broken touchscreen. They broke my screen and had to keep it to repair. They Gave me my computer back and the keyboard wasn’t working, I asked him what was wrong because it worked perfectly fine when I gave it to them. They said that my computer is known to have keyboard malfunctions. I sent my computer there to be repaired and they gave it back to me with a broken keyboard And the touch screen is still broken. They told me they would order me a part for the touchscreen and never did. I went to Portugal and they told me to bring it back when I get back And they would fix it. When I got back they said that they didn’t think I was going to come back from Portugal so they never ordered the sensor to fix my touch screen which was broken when they gave it back to me also. After it was all said and done I now have a computer with the keyboard that does not work and they are saying that it cannot be fixed. That is not true. It can be fixed. They did not want to pay for their mistake.I did bring it back a second time and they had it for a month, they still returned my computer without the keyboard working. Brian lies to me for months about the status of my computer. Later found out they went through 3 screens to fix my one after almost 6 months of dealing with them. I’m not Even 100% convinced that they actually did break three computer screens, I honestly think they just did nothing to my computer for the months that it was there (Besides to do more damage). every day that I called to ask when I would have my computer back they would tell me by the end of the day.. they told me by the end of the day for months. I can’t stress that if you need your computer do not go there
Always a great experience when I visit. I am always happier when I leave
A good place for computer components at a fair price. I was looking for an older piece that was overpriced online. CR had it and at a very reasonable cost. I would definitely shop there again.
Always a great place for computers and equipment. Staff is very knowledgeable.
They have a good variety of computer accessories. The staff is knowledgeable and do a great job repairing computers. This is a great place for gamers to get their supplies.
Always pleased when I leave there. Their services are excellent
Good store with good computer parts and not very bad pricing. The staff is very polite and knowledgeable.
Ive been using computer Renaissance for years now. They are knowledgeable! Can you shop online and get parts cheaper, probably. Ive bought computers from Costco and BestBuy and both of these computers crashed after a couple of years. I bought 2 computers from Computer Renaissance about 4 years ago. Just recently I upgraded these same computers to solid state drives. I dont know about computer hardware so I leave it to the experts. I highly recommend this company.
I have such mixed feelings about this store. The staff is always great and they really are quite knowledgeable but the prices are outright laughable. I was looking for a couple random accessories and they were (I double checked) 6x the price as online
Best costumer service ever! I recommend all my friends to this business for computer repair or questions or for purchase of a new one!
I needed a Windows 10 replacement. They gave me a free one, just had to buy the $10 flash card he put it on. Solved my problem and they were friendly and courteous to boot.
Pricey but always great to go in and chat with the people here. As a fan of old computers I always check here first for anything I need.
Nice and organized location, staff is happy to assist you and will go over options they have available. Only rating it a 3 because their pricing is not even remotely competitive, its Alaska and Im aware the options up here are not as rich as say Los Angeles but at least be more competitive so Im not reaching for my phone to buy from Amazon. So an msi board gamer plus and an I5 8th generation and one stick of 8gig cheap china memory for almost 800 is a bit steep when amazon sells the motherboard for 119 and the same processor for 299 Im not getting the sense they are interested in competing. Its a small shop and Id love to buy local but smart buyers will rather wait 10days for amazon shipping than 500 they could buy gas and groceries for. If the pricing was maybe 100 or even 150 off the difference Id be home building my computer now.
These know their stuff and are very helpful. Ask for James.
Very cool store and talented repair staff. The store provides you the means to make cheap upgrades to your existing system with great used parts and can sell you like-new computers and laptops for hundreds less than the box store.
Very helpful! Goal acheived. Thank you. Long standing Anchorage business with high quality computer repair service. Reasonable rates. Top quality gauranteed workmanship.
Nice selection. From starter builds to high end. Lots of knowledge.
VERY friendly service! The most accommodating business Ive ever dealt with! I needed a sata3 cable immediately, no where else had one. I called them 15 minutes before closing and they told me theyd tape one to the door if I didnt make it in time. Sure enough when I arrived there was 2 sata3 cables taped to the door! Id recommend to anyone!
Great prices, Great staff, go to place for people who wanna save money on pc parts.
Took in a PC for troubleshooting and repair. They called me to update when they found the culprit( faulty stick of RAM). They replaced and returned my computer. Ive had no follow-on problems. The staff was accomodating, friendly and knowledgable. They took a common sense approach to solving problems and the process was transparent. They also have a decent sense of humor.I would recommend their services to a friend.
Going on 20yrs Service, Thanks Brian & James for help with Samsung Tablet, Apple Laptop, & 2008 Dell Computer System & all the Upgrades, Graphic Card & Computer Virus Solved with Malwarebytes on all our devices!🤩🤩🤩😃😃😂 Happy Holiday
Good people family owned treat people right 👌💯👍
This place is awsome Brian and James will take great care of you!
Great folks. Ive bought parts for two machines from these guys theyre very helpful and knowledgeable, without overwhelming you with jargon.
Over the past couple of months I have had the technicians here work on an older home built PC that was having issues. They worked diligently on the computer discovering that the RAM had intermittent problems and that the hard drive was failing. With these items replaced they then found that the computer had a virus or malware that was sophisticated and difficult both to diagnose and to remove (the Kaspersky antivirus on the computer never found it). They then reinstalled all the software, which was complicated by some of it being business related and 10 years old. They must have lost considerable income with all the hours they spent. I do recommend they without reservation.
I needed some small hardware on short notice. They were the only ones in town who had it, and they charged a fair price!
Excellent service, wide selection of computers and parts!
The staff seem friendly enough. I wouldnt suggest selling your laptop/electronics here. I brought 4 laptop hdds(260GB-1TB), laptop ram sticks(4GB each), Netgear wifi router, and 3 keyboards to sell there. Dropped these off, signed a paper, and then waited for several days for them to call me back. Sure, theyre probably very busy people so I returned after almost forgetting that they still have my things. Turned out they had already finished appraising my stuff quite a while ago; if only they gave me a courtesy call that they were done. They offered $65 for the whole set. By now, I was tired of doing anything with these items so I said yes. The staff, Brian, who helped me, seemed averagely friendly. Take note, all the items were in a plastic transparent crate with my PS4 box, with everything(warranty papers, digital game paper, and inner box to hold the console) except for the console itself at the bottom. I got the crate back with the just the empty slightly crushed PS4 box. Everything inside it was gone, so... You decide what happened to it. Just saying... they may have taken more than I specified. Otherwise, good place...? *shrugs shoulders
Extremely satisfied with the service and the outcome of their service. Certainly would recommend all my friends.
One of the only computer geek stores in town
Staff at CR are knowledgeable, straightforward, explain the problem, offer solutions. Weve patronized their business for years.
Always helpful with accurate advice....friendly staff.
Reasonable prices and selection, staff knows something
Took a long time for then to get back to me with the refund from selling them my old computers. Helpful enough.
GAVE me a very specific computer part that unlocked a while mother level of functionality for my laptop
I asked the guy at the counter about what he might have that would be comparable to the new computer I was thinking of buying and cited the specs I was looking for. He just stared back at me like Id said something in Latin. I waited about 5 seconds before I said Nothing? Youre not going to say anything? and he just kept stairing. I said OK, I guess IL just look ...and he just kept stairing.then greeted the next costumers in line. I dont know if he had a seizure, or what, but bad service.
Great help and great customer service
Went looking for new hardware and shopped around at multiple computer stores in Anchorage and Computer Renaissance had the best selection of cases and the friendly helpful staff made the experience easy. This is my one stop shop for new hardware.
The staff is very helpful and friendly. I was trying to buy a laptop & I did not want windows 8 They suggested a used computer. The first one I purchased, I decided I didnt want it. They took it back, no problem. The 2nd computer seemed to be just what I wanted, but after I took it home, I couldnt get Magic Jack to work. I brought it back & asked them to help me make it work. Dimi, in the back room worked on my computer for at least 30 minutes. He was very friendly & helpful. He loaded new audio drivers & kept trying to make Magic Jack work for me. I had accidently pushed one of the keys that muted the audio. Now it works like a charm and I am very happy with my computer. They did not charge me for the 30 minutes of technical support. I would recommend them to my friends & anyone who needs a computer. They have integrity and can be trusted.
They quoted me $200 to fix the DC power jack on my laptop. I ordered the part myself for less than $10 and fixed it in under 5 minutes. Their prices are a ripoff.
Excellent, knowledgeable staff, large inventory of new and used computers, parts and accessories! Repair, Sell, buy or trade - these are the people to go to!
Sold me a trial version when I asked for a full version, liars who make custom cpu look good.
These guys really know their craft! Only computer store I go to.
Do not buy a pre built system here they are incredibly overpriced
These folks have our business from now on!!
Good technology and workers
GREAT staff, very helpful, very knowledgeable.
Scalpers
Very good
Good place
