Honestly, the nicest, most unique coffee place I have found. This is a true family owned business. Local, family operated. I love supporting companies like that. I loved the conversation I had with one of the employees and her sharing her excitement of coffee. Listening to her share her intrest was an experience of its own. I only wish I was nicer.

Bright, airy and comfortable coffee shop with a smaller selection of well created drinks and what looks like a terrific food menu. Family friendly with a kids area, toys and high chairs. Indoor and patio seating with lots of natural light.Ordered the decal mocha which is made with their house ganache. One of the best mochas I have had. Lightly sweet, smooth and chocolatey without being bitter
Have coffee your way! Love the slow coffee bar, press, drip, vac, or your favorite. Nice variety of teas and other beverages. Theres fresh baked goods, too.Clean, light sitting area with lots of windows. Comfortable and unhurried if you want to sit and visit. Or, fast friendly service if youre in a hurry.
Excellent place to hang out. Cool atmosphere. Im not a coffee drinker but they have a good selection of high quality teas for a couple bucks.
Staff is friendly, coffee is decent, though not the best Ive ever had. I go here to meet up with folks on occasion, it has a good atmosphere for that!
I used to come here and loved it, its very popular, but they changed their hot chocolate recipe to where it is now weak and unpleasant. Not sure what happened and I went back to three times hoping it was a fluke but even at different cafes around town its the same thing-not good. But perhaps the coffee is what people go for?

This place is seriously underrated. Great drinks, fresh pastries, and a wine shop next door. When they first opened, the baristas took a long time to make drinks. Not anymore. The service is fast and reliable. Definitely check it out.
This place is on a level Ive never seen in a coffee shop. Pheeee-nominal. My wife still talks about this place, a year and a half later (we are not residents of Anchorage). The quality is off the charts.Im not much of a coffee drinker. Maybe a cappuccino at a nice restaurant every once in awhile. I had coffee every time I came into this place. I think wed almost fly the 4300 miles just to have coffee there again. Its that good.
I do not recommend this place due to poor business ethics.I saw an employee give all of the pastries at the end of the day to a table of her friends when there were other customers and kids around. The employee later lied, said she offered them to everyone and that it “wasn’t personal.”

Socially-caring buyers who find great beans and roast/cup each with care. Their single-origin & blends are shot or brewed by amazing baristas! I really enjoy the house-blend espresso and they have a rotating espresso blend. Those are always interesting (some sublime, some not to my taste) but stretch my coffee horizons. When I have time I love the slow bar. The entire staff shines when I pull up a chair and ask, so...whats good today?

Great atmosphere, friendly baristas, delicious coffee. What more could you ask for? They have a nicely decorated sitting area with lots of windows. I was impressed that they even had a small selection of childrens toys for use while there! I would definitely recommend stopping by with your friends for a coffee date!
Its a very nice, clean coffee place. It was kind of expensive for the coffee though. I got a medium sized mocha and I think it was $5.50 for a 12 oz cup. They did have beautiful foam art on it though! The coffee did taste good too!
I really enjoy their coffee. I love that they have toys for older children to play with, and even a place you can fill your own water up. Unfortunately, there is not a changing table in either the men’s or women’s stalls. My baby had an emergency blowout and I had to change her on a sketchy small table in the bathroom. I was extremely disappointed and the barista did not respond well. No apology or even offer to let the owner know. - Having worked in customer service for the past 5 years I was unimpressed.
SteamDot is often excellent. My last visit was disappointing, with drip coffee that tasted like slightly flavored water and a very weak breve. Ive had many great cups of coffee, so I am hoping it was just an anomaly. Ill try again the next time I pass through Anchorage.
I have never had a bad cup of coffee there. The staff is exceptionally friendly, work well together and make the shop a warm and welcoming place to sit and read the paper or meet with friends. The baked goods are amazing and fresh with good variety. Thank you for a wonderful place to escape to!
This place has a lot of potential but always falls short.Staff is never welcoming, takes way to long even when your drink is the only one they are preparing.The espresso is hit or miss, the baristas seem to always be in training..

I like their chemex method of brewing, but every time I come here ... The wait gets longer. Today for instance, during a not too busy period... Been 12 minutes and they still havent started pouring the cup. Its fine IF youre in absolutely no hurry at all...
Favorite coffee in Anachorage. The beans they have are delicious and the flavors are very notable. The white chocolate ganache is perfect. This is one of those coffee places I will drive across town, get out & go inside...just to get a coffee to go. That being said, I wish they had more locations. The one on Abbott is my favorite, but Ill be stopping by the downtown one today now for sure!
Not your typical coffee shop. The quality of the roast is apparent in their highly simplified menu of options. No frills or extra bells and whistles, just classic well made coffee. the only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the menu did leave some thing to be desired.
Probably the top cappuccino Ive found in Anchorage so far, in the more European style. Very cool that they roast all theyre beans right there behind a large glass wall where you can watch the process. Nice but small selection of deli food also.
Inviting place to relax and enjoy some beans roasted to perfection served the way coffee is supposed to be served. Take your time and enjoy the slow bar. Employees are great.

SteamDot is a top notch roaster. I had a very well made V60 pourover, as well as a solid cortado.I always buy beans whenever I travel, so Ive been brewing their Finca El Paraiso since returning to NY. Really nice beans for a pourover or an aeropress.
Delicious coffee and teas (they have teas of the month, like Idiamint with chocolate and mint flavors...yum! They roast their own beans and you can watch and ask questions. Plus, its very kid-friendly. They have toys and books. Love it here!

Okay, you have to respect a place that offers FOUR choices of slow bar coffee PREPARATION methods! I opted for the V60 brewer, and Im glad I did. Sure, $3.50 is a lot for a mug of coffee, but it was fantastic! Great staff with upbeat attitude like you are the first customer of the day. I also took home some of their cold brewed coffee, which was also exceptional (but I will admit, its a bit spendy). Update: today is the second time theyve been out of V60 filters though... thats unfortunate.
Entered steampot before three Caucasians. I was standing in front of the cashier. Waiting to be helped. I was not greeted. The cashiers greeted and asked the three if they need help. They got what they asked for. I was standing and waited to be help. Then a few more people came in stood be hind me. The cashier made it obvious that i was being ignored by moving his headed to see the poeple behind me and asked if they needed help. I then put my hands up and said what? Then the cashier with a discomfort face stated, oh, what can i do for you.
If you want coffee that is brewed with science in mind, with baristas that care about consistently, artfully preparing a beverage, come to steam dot.
